00:00ABC literally translates to anti-ball crushing.
00:03My hair used to also be my trademark, but I don't have it anymore.
00:34What's going on?
00:35We're Escape the Fate.
00:36We're currently out here on the road with Lacuna Coil and playing a lot of new songs
00:41in our set list.
00:42We just dropped our newest song, Deja Vu.
00:44Hope you're enjoying it.
00:46And we're here today to discuss with you our stage wear.
00:50Hey, so I'm Craig.
00:51I'm the singer of the band, and we're just going to talk about what I'm currently wearing
00:54for this tour as far as stage.
00:57The hat, I don't usually wear on stage, sometimes I do, but the longer my hair gets, the more
01:03the hat stays on when I'm off stage, and this has been my daily wear for about five, six
01:09years, I want to say, and it's just an all-black hat that I bought in the gift shop of
01:13a hotel
01:14from Cabo when I was on vacation with my wife, but it fit really good, which has kind of been
01:20my vibe lately.
01:21I always try to find it's a perfect balance, at least for me, between comfort and style.
01:26And it's really hard for me to find something that has both of those things because I'm
01:31such a small dude.
01:33So sometimes things are just a little too baggy or a little too small.
01:37So it's difficult, but as far as the t-shirt goes, today I'm wearing our buddy Eli's Ghost
01:43Circus Company.
01:45I love his style, and the shirts fit really, really well.
01:48They're nice and stretchy, which is good for stage.
01:50I've been really into joggers lately.
01:53These are some joggers from a company called Criminal Damage.
01:56Found it in Camden Market in the UK.
02:00And I've loved these.
02:01Again, hard for me to find some I like because sometimes they're just a little too big for
02:05my liking, but these ones have done me well.
02:09These bad boys, the High Top Converse All Black Flyknit Shoes.
02:15This feels like I'm wearing socks.
02:17And they're made out of recyclable materials, so I can feel like I'm helping the earth.
02:21And then the jacket, the jacket is just something, see I'll find myself doomscrolling on social
02:28media, and sometimes I come across pages of people customizing their clothing or making
02:33customized clothing, and I'm like, see, that's dope.
02:36I want to make something my own.
02:38So I went out, I started with this gunmetal paint, which unfortunately when I went back
02:45to Michael's to get more, I was going to do the whole jacket in that color.
02:50Michael's was no more, or was it Joanne's?
02:52It was Joanne's.
02:54Joanne's was no more, that was the only place I could find it, I even tried looking online,
02:58and I could only order it from some different countries, Amazon, and it wasn't going to
03:02get to my house in time before the tour, so I was like, alright, ordered a silver sharpie,
03:06and I decided to just write some lyrics to some of our new songs, down the sleeves of
03:12the jacket.
03:13And I really liked how it looked when I put it on, so I'm like, alright, I'm going
03:16to do that.
03:17So we got a song yet to be released that's called Idle Potential, and then right here
03:24is just the chorus of Deja Vu, which is our newest song we just dropped, and we're actually
03:30playing both of those songs in our set for this tour, so that's been my vibe, just trying
03:36to find the perfect blend of comfort and style.
03:39So, highly recommend Go Circus, highly recommend you customize your own clothing if you want
03:45to be a little unique.
03:47Neophoric, another great company where their clothing is banging, and it's super, super
03:52comfortable.
03:53So, especially for stage shows, because I like to move around, so that's my vibe.
03:59I guess the difference between stage out, like if I'm home, there's definitely part of my closet
04:04where I'm like, no, I take that on tour, I'm not going to wear it out.
04:06I mean, sometimes I do, but it's a little similar, but a lot more simple.
04:13You know, I lean into more of the joggers, obviously I said, are a little more my thing
04:17these days.
04:17I still put on those tight black pants every now and then.
04:20Um, but I lean towards, like, the tech wear sort of look, but all of that gets a little
04:26too tech wear for my liking, so these were perfect because it was kind of the style, but
04:30it didn't have all those straps and everything hanging all over the place.
04:33So, if I'm home, I'm actually a big fan of the Lululemon joggers and their ABC pants.
04:39So, ABC literally translates to anti-ball crushing.
04:43You can look it up on the Lululemon website.
04:46Not just a store for women's leggings.
04:47Uh, they fit like tight black pants, but man, you could do, I could wear them to the gym.
04:52I could do squats, everything in those things.
04:54So, super, super comfortable.
04:56Bus Craig, same thing.
04:57I've been wearing my neophoric sweatpants that are a little techy, I guess, uh, every
05:02day on the bus.
05:03Zippered pockets everywhere.
05:04Great for the gym, so you can put your phone, your keys, whatever you need.
05:08They don't fall out.
05:09I got to take them out when I'm doing certain workouts because that sucks, but as long as
05:13everything has a spot and I'm feeling comfy, I'm good to go.
05:17What's up?
05:18It's Robert Drummer of Escape to Fate.
05:19I'm here to talk about my stage wear wardrobe.
05:24I don't know.
05:25Anyways, so, first thing you gotta do, when you're the OG member, you gotta have the aviators.
05:31People don't recognize me when I'm not wearing them, so I gotta have the aviator sunglasses
05:34all the time.
05:35Uh, secondly, uh, well, uh, my hair used to also be my trademark, but I don't have it
05:44anymore.
05:46So, so, most people, you know, might see me walking around with a beanie, but when it's
05:52time to go on stage, most often, sometimes I wear a beanie.
05:55I don't want to be bald on stage.
05:57It's just, I look old.
05:58It's just, it's just not, it doesn't work.
06:00I don't like it.
06:02So, oftentimes, we gotta go with a hat.
06:05Can't do a beanie on stage.
06:06It gets sweaty.
06:07It falls off.
06:07This one is given to me by Future Legend.
06:10Check them out.
06:11FutureLegend.com.
06:12Alright.
06:13So, uh, they make the best hats, of course.
06:15And, uh, we'll throw on a bandana underneath.
06:18Now, there's actually a function to this.
06:19First of all, it's Axl Rose inspired.
06:21You know, that 90s Axl hat bandana.
06:23Look, most people say M Shadows, which, you know, he rocks it too.
06:26Um, but, yeah.
06:29And then this actually holds my in-ears in.
06:32I tighten it so they don't come out, and I can hear better.
06:35It suctions better.
06:36It mutes everything else better.
06:37We're good to go.
06:39Okay?
06:40And then next, see, here's the dilemma.
06:41When you're an aging rock and roller, and you're like our band, the thing that we have
06:46always been conflicted with is we want to look like rockers.
06:51We definitely want to look like we're a band.
06:54You want to have a unique look, but we don't want to look like we're wearing a costume.
06:58That's never been our thing.
06:59You know, many great artists that go very theatrical.
07:02We've always been right at that line, but stayed on this side of it.
07:06Where we could probably still go out in public with what we wear on stage, but maybe it's
07:13not as comfortable.
07:14So, this tour, however, I'm keeping it rock and rolling.
07:18Just going throwback old school 14-year-old me wearing a cutoff Slayer shirt.
07:22Easy work.
07:23It's as good as it gets.
07:24It's right there.
07:24I can't beat it.
07:26Been wearing that shirt.
07:26Well, not this specific one, but this design for like fucking 20 years.
07:31Now, we go to the function.
07:33Just jeans.
07:34I'm the drummer.
07:35I got to wear hard pants.
07:36Can't wear the soft pants.
07:37Reason why?
07:38Because I put my in-ear pack, and it falls down, and then I'm just scrambling, and the
07:42thing falls out.
07:43I can't hear the band.
07:44Song gets ruined.
07:45So, I got to wear hard pants.
07:46And then, got to have a belt because you clip it on there.
07:49See what I'm saying?
07:50It's all function, all right?
07:52I can't wear baggy jeans because it rides up, my pedal gets stuck, and then I can't
07:56play the bass drums.
07:58Can't use baggy pants.
07:59And I think that's about it.
08:02Sometimes, we want to go a little fancier, so we got the coat.
08:07And sometimes, you know, I might do the button-up and do this, look a little fancy, a little
08:12more dark emo vibe.
08:14But then, this has mostly been the Slayer, heavy metal, just straightforward rock and roll.
08:20Sometimes jewelry, sometimes non-jewelery.
08:23So, that's always the goal.
08:25Look like a rocker, but don't look like you're wearing a costume.
08:29It's very difficult, but we try.
08:31I'll finish with this, though.
08:32See, lately, I've been wearing the slip-on, all black Vans.
08:37I can't play with other shoes.
08:38If they got thick heels or whatever, I can't, like, do the bass drums.
08:43I have to almost be barefooted, but I need the grip, too, so I can't be barefooted.
08:46So, those are the function ones.
08:48When it comes to being on tour, as a drummer and as a guy who's a fitness enthusiast, I'm
08:57always sweating.
08:59So, I'm wearing, like, four changes of outfits all day, every day.
09:03This thing is still wet from the first show a week ago.
09:07It's cold.
09:08And it's, if you could have smell-o-vision, insane.
09:12So, that's reserved for stage.
09:15So, is this.
09:16Now, when it comes to, like, you know, before the show, maybe after the show, I might be
09:22wearing something like this.
09:23You know, it's kind of comfortable.
09:25Just chilling, you know, whatever.
09:27Just a t-shirt, relaxing.
09:28Got some fucking baggy pants.
09:30Just chilling.
09:31Now, before sound check, I'm wearing just, like, workout clothes.
09:36First thing I do in the morning, I go work out, lift some weights, and get sweaty.
09:40So, I'm wearing shorts.
09:41I'm wearing freaking joggers.
09:44I'm wearing tank tops.
09:45And that's what I do.
09:47And then you go straight into the sound check, because you're going to sweat again, because
09:50it's, you're drumming, and you get freaking sweaty.
09:53And then you're going to get yelled at by the singer, like, we got a beat and greet.
09:56You got to change.
09:57I said, I know.
09:58Why aren't you ready?
09:59I said, because I was just playing drums.
10:00I was going to sweat.
10:01So, I had to wear the same clothes.
10:03I didn't want to wear the not sweaty clothes, and get sweaty in them, and then meet people
10:07and be stinky and sweaty.
10:08So, I got to wear these.
10:10And then you switch into these, and it's like, oh, shit, I can't get these clothes sweaty.
10:13So, I got to switch into the sweaty stage clothes.
10:15And then, uh, the cycle repeats.
10:19Hey, this is Matty, lead guitar for Escape the Fate.
10:22Pretty much wear the same thing all the time.
10:25Black skinny jeans today.
10:28Black shirt.
10:29Hoodie.
10:30Doc Martens.
10:34Lots of jewelry.
10:36Yeah, actually, this is from Statement Collective from Australia.
10:39They sent me some cool stuff.
10:41I really love rings, bracelets, necklaces.
10:45They'll, dangly stuff.
10:48Yeah.
10:49Usually going for that Final Fantasy look, you know, Final Fantasy VIII Squall.
10:54Pretty much all the time.
10:56Anime style.
10:57Usually, I find a lot of stuff online, just searching.
11:01Some used, some new.
11:03Some thrift stores are cool.
11:05Lately, my girlfriend showed me this company, Makeup Forever.
11:09Works very well.
11:10It almost looks like you're not wearing anything.
11:11Basic red eyeshadow.
11:14Basic black eyeliner.
11:16Usually wear sunglasses all the time, you know.
11:21Comfortable.
11:22After the show and in the morning, I'll probably wear, like, baggy, comfy clothes and, like,
11:27a hoodie and baggy pants and just whatever.
11:29Just comfort.
11:30But this is kind of the stage look I always go for.
11:33I've been wearing baggier stuff lately, but I'm wearing skinny jeans today.
11:38Yeah, my buddy here in Chicago actually, Brawley, made this custom jacket for me.
11:42Check out his company, No Time to Bleed.
11:44Pretty cool.
11:46Fur hood.
11:47Cool graphics.
11:49Yeah.
11:50He custom did all that stuff and brought it for me this morning.
11:53A little distressing.
11:56I like it.
11:57What's up, guys?
11:58I'm Eric Shrent.
11:59I'm the guitarist for Escape the Fate.
12:00And I'm going to show you what I'm wearing on stage tonight.
12:04Pretty simple.
12:04So I got two looks.
12:05I have my rocker look and then I have my kind of nerdy tech wear look.
12:10So right now I'm rocking the rocker bit.
12:12I got my straight to hell jacket on.
12:15And the top will change.
12:16You know, the jacket will change.
12:17But I have a few consistence in my rocker look.
12:19I always wear the tightest ripped pants I can find.
12:23I'm always rocking a tank top underneath to stay somewhat cool.
12:26Because if you're wearing layers, you got lights blasting you on stage.
12:29It's so damn hot up there.
12:31So you've got to reduce weight wherever you can find it.
12:34One of the cool parts, I love my shoes.
12:36I always wear the Doc Martens.
12:40We love Docs.
12:42But I also have a tech wear look.
12:44I like to pull out a lot.
12:46So we pull out some of the pants with all the frills and straps and buckles.
12:55Sometimes when I play the red guitar instead of a black guitar, I'll throw a red scarf hood thing on.
13:01I don't know what I do with this.
13:02You throw it on and it looks cool however you throw it on.
13:04It's sick.
13:05It matches the guitar.
13:06That's all that matters.
13:09But one of my favorite parts though.
13:12I know I said the shoes were my favorite part.
13:13But one of my favorite parts about my stage aesthetic is the necklaces I wear.
13:17Because I am a huge nerd.
13:20Massive weed.
13:21I'm always rocking anime on stage.
13:23So even the nexus I have.
13:25This is just a cool ass little necklace I got in Japan.
13:28But this here is from Hunter Hunter.
13:32And then in my cool little jewelry box I got here.
13:35Custom made coffin with the shreds on it.
13:37I have all sorts of random jewelry.
13:40Ignore the mess here.
13:41But I got my one piece dog tags.
13:46I have my bleach necklace of the Quincy's.
13:50A little demon slayer action.
13:53And if we could get this untangled.
13:56Bonus points for whoever could tell us what this is from.
14:00Keep lots of necklaces.
14:02You know got some plugs and rings tucked away in here.
14:06Love this thing.
14:07Yeah I love having accessories on that kind of show off my little interest.
14:12You know I love seeing someone in line.
14:14Like a fan in line.
14:15And they see that necklace or that bracelet.
14:17And they go you love Naruto.
14:20You love One Piece.
14:21You know people really light up when they get to feel that connection with you.
14:25So when I go and I search these things all the time.
14:28You know every now and then I just want a massive overhaul.
14:31So you just go to Amazon.
14:33You just search anime necklaces.
14:34And you find some cool shit.
14:36But where I tend to get most of my jewelry.
14:39Is anytime we go to Japan.
14:41I bring an empty suitcase and a budget.
14:44That's where I get everything that is in Japan.
14:47Because where are you going to get better anime shit than in Japan.
14:51You know.
14:51Love being a massive weeb.
14:53And I take that into my lounge wear every single day.
14:56You know.
14:57I don't have much of it with me.
14:59I do have one piece.
15:01But I just like to wear really comfy, stretchy, flowy clothes.
15:07I usually will have some kind of gym shorts that are of course.
15:11You guessed it.
15:12Some kind of anime related.
15:14But the most important piece of my lounge wear.
15:18And I had to save this for last.
15:20Because it was too damn sexy.
15:22Too much for the camera.
15:25Are my Demon Slayer Crocs.
15:26Because I've been bringing on this too.
15:31Good luck finding these.
15:33Sold out immediately.
15:34I got the pair of the Butterfly Shinobu Crocs.
15:39And then as for makeup.
15:41You know.
15:41I just have like my little set up here.
15:43And I'm not going to go through it.
15:44Because I actually don't wear that much makeup.
15:46But the big things are.
15:49Is facial hair treatment.
15:52I'll usually bring like a beard oil.
15:54And a brush.
15:55And you just got to keep it.
15:56Groomed and looking good.
15:58But you know.
15:59This is a public service announcement here.
16:01Eyeliner.
16:02Always have to have eyeliner.
16:03And let me tell you.
16:04There is nothing wrong with Elf from Walmart.
16:08Catch me wearing Elf 80% of the time.
16:11So if you are a hater because it's from Walmart.
16:14Cut it out.
16:15It's just fine.
16:16It's just fine.
16:17Thank you guys for watching.
16:19We're Escape the Fate.
16:20Catch us out on tour with Lacuna Coil.
16:22We'll see you next time.
16:25We'll see you next time.
16:28We'll see you next time.
16:32We'll see you next time.
16:35We'll see you next time.
16:36We'll see you next time.
16:38We'll see you next time.
16:39We'll see you next time.
16:39We'll see you next time.
16:39We'll see you next time.
16:40We'll see you next time.
16:40We'll see you next time.
16:40We'll see you next time.
16:40We'll see you next time.
16:41We'll see you next time.
16:42We'll see you next time.
