00:52and new adventures around every corner
00:55It's odds on
00:57Oh wow!
00:58We saw the dolphins
00:59It was amazing!
01:00Our fun-loving Brits at sea
01:02will love the cruise
01:03Smaller than the average cruise ship
01:14Ambition annually sails 70,000 nautical miles
01:18covering 29 countries and 91 ports
01:21With 14 decks and just under 700 cabins
01:28The ship can accommodate 1,200 guests
01:33And on board this week are our two groups of holidaymakers
01:39First up, meet our cruise veterans, Glenys and Ian
01:46At the moment, Glenys is busy packing
01:51Yeah, and Ian was supposed to be coming in to help
01:55Well, I'm here
01:56My name's Glenys
01:57I'm 75 years of age
02:00My name's Ian
02:01I'm 73 years old
02:04Ian's my toy boy
02:05Although he wasn't quite as young as I really wanted
02:08Right, sorry to hear that, Glenys
02:11Any thoughts, Ian?
02:12Yes
02:13Okie dokie
02:15I seriously, I've got to put some of my stuff in yours
02:19because I obviously need more than you
02:22We've been married 30 odd years
02:25Okay
02:26As long as there's room for my stuff, that's all that matters, isn't it?
02:29It will, absolutely, yes it is
02:31The thing we like about cruising is meeting new people, doing new things
02:36The fact that you go to bed at night, you go to sleep, you wake up and wow, I'm in a different country
02:42It's as if you're in a hotel but you're going to lots of different places and you're taking your hotel with you
02:49I never thought of it that way, I like that, I'll use that
02:52Ok, rewind
02:54Next up, meet our second duo, father and son, Graham and Lewis
03:01They might be new to cruising, but when it comes to packing, Graham is ahead of the game
03:07I've finally got my suitcase packed
03:09I've got all my, I didn't pack the suitcase
03:14I didn't pack, my lovely wife packed the suitcase
03:16I think the dog wants to go with me as well, can't wait for this trip
03:21And it seems dad of two, Lewis, is also getting a little helping hand
03:26Are you trying to get in? Are you trying to go with daddy?
03:30So hi, I'm Lewis, I'm from Cottingham in Hull
03:33I'm 35
03:34My name is Graham
03:35I'm his dad
03:36Yeah
03:38So what's your favourite item that you've packed?
03:41This cool tie, little monkeys on it
03:44Very cool
03:46We have quite a good relationship, don't we?
03:49Yeah
03:50We do the gym together, we see each other every morning
03:54I love the idea of getting away with my dad, to be honest
03:57Yeah, it's exciting, isn't it?
03:58I think we'll look after each other in some ways, don't we?
04:01No one should trust us to travel alone, really
04:04If I've been honest
04:05I could do it
04:06Yeah, I am worried about the, can we do it?
04:10With babies and dogs left safely at home, it's time to get cracking with the cruise
04:17You don't have to get on a plane to join these cruises
04:20They set off from several UK ports, and this one started in Bristol, before arriving at its first stop
04:27The French coastal town of Lorient, where our two sets of holidaymakers will be hopping on
04:32They will be stopping at a variety of stunning locations along the way
04:36From the port of Le Verdun, gateway to the beautiful vineyards of Bordeaux
04:41And coastal town of Sulac-sur-Mer
04:44To the food lovers paradise of Bilbao
04:47And to round off their week, the last destination for our fun-loving Brits
04:51Will be the historic city of Porto, in Portugal
04:56Each day, our couples will be experiencing activities on
05:00How's it going so far, Ian?
05:02It's very relaxing, yeah
05:04And off
05:08If you spoil it, oh my goodness, I won't be happy
05:11This cruise ship
05:12Although the ship set off from Bristol, it's now sailed 290 nautical miles to the historical port of Lorient
05:23Where it's docked for the day
05:26And whilst Graham and Lewis are off to explore the town
05:29Glenis and Ian are eager to get a glance of their new home for the week
05:34Wow
05:35Wowzers
05:36I wonder if that's our room up there
05:38That's the bridge
05:40That's the bridge
05:41I don't care, oh, is it?
05:42Right, well, not that one then
05:44We've been on a few cruises before
05:47I mean, I know it's like, not as big as some we've been on
05:50But sometimes I prefer smaller ones
05:53Yeah
05:57Oh, I can't wait to explore
06:00Let's get on and let's
06:01Come on
06:02Let's do it
06:03I think the thing we like about cruising
06:05Is obviously visiting places we wouldn't probably normally get to see
06:10And without the hassle of going on an aeroplane or driving for hours and hours and hours
06:15Ferries, whatever
06:16And I think that's definitely number one
06:20And whilst Glenis and Ian take in their new ship surroundings
06:23Graham and Lewis are taking in their French surroundings of Lorient
06:26Wow
06:29Nestled in the south of Brittany, Lorient is a seaport town with deep maritime roots
06:34It was founded in the 17th century
06:36And it's known for its former Navy submarine base
06:39Built by the Germans in World War II
06:41Which now serves as part of the cultural hub of Lorient
06:45And as Graham is a French rookie
06:47He's leaning on St. Louis to be his guide for all things French
06:51Wow pops
06:53How do you feel then?
06:54I really love it
06:55I told you it's just different isn't it?
06:57I can't believe the weather we've got as well isn't it?
06:58It's nice
06:59It's just France
07:00There's something about France
07:01It just feels different
07:03You can tell me all about it
07:05The idea of France is perfect
07:07Yeah, I've never been to France
07:09Different types of foods
07:10Yeah
07:11And Lorient was a nice place to visit for your first time in France, I imagine
07:16Please do not let us forget
07:18We've got to get to the ship for six
07:20What time is it?
07:21If we miss it, I mean, what do we even do?
07:23I don't know, yeah
07:24We won't miss it, will we?
07:26And whilst the boys navigate the streets of Lorient
07:30Clothes obsessed Glenys is chomping at the bit to get those cases unpacked
07:35Hello
07:36Hello, good afternoon
07:37Are you okay?
07:38At this moment in time, I can't wait to get to my cabin
07:41Have a look round
07:43Ian is like, oh, we'll take your time and we'll just walk
07:46And it's like, no, I want to get there now
07:48And not that I'm impatient or anything
07:51But there are a lot of things to see between here and the cabin
07:54Close your eyes
07:55Okay
07:57This should be fun
07:58First up, it's the interactive central ship map
08:02We are on deck 10
08:06Oh, do you not?
08:07So...
08:08Oh, we're not on deck 5
08:09Oh, you mean we're on deck 5 now
08:11Oh, right
08:12The cabin
08:13Is on 5
08:1410
08:15You'll need your glasses on
08:16Right, at the point that's me looking
08:17Right
08:18Shall we just go up the stairs and explore?
08:21Well, you mean find the cabin?
08:23Yes
08:24My sense of direction in general is, erm, shocking
08:31Yeah, I can't care
08:32Thank heavens it's not a large cruise ship
08:35Although it seems Ian has got his wish
08:37And they've already taken a slight detour to the onboard theatre
08:43Wow
08:44I'm not sure we should be in here
08:46Right
08:47Well, I think it's closed, but we'll have a look
08:50Oh, wow
08:51Oh my word
08:52Oh my gosh
08:53Well, it's got the right name, hasn't it?
08:55But we so need to get to the room now, don't we?
08:57Well
08:58Yeah, come on, that's fine
08:59All right
09:00But we'll be back tonight so we can look at it properly
09:02Okay
09:03Right, come on Ian, time to find that cabin
09:07Oh, let's just have a quick look in here
09:08Oh, let's just have a lie down on here more like it
09:11Er, maybe in a minute then
09:13Gee
09:14Well, you can have a lie down on the bed when we get there
09:17Oh
09:20Oh
09:21Pick me up and off now
09:22And I'm just enjoying the books
09:24Off my glasses
09:26Right
09:27You said a quick look, come on, we need to go
09:30All good things come to those who wait, Glenys
09:33Let's hope Ian can guide Glenys to her cabin
09:37Over in Lorient, it seems the boys have also got distracted
09:42Oh, wow, this is nice
09:44It's nice, isn't it?
09:45Check out that park there, Pops
09:46Yeah, oh, Jaxie would love that
09:48Oh, Jaxie would love it
09:49I'd love it
09:51Where are you going, lad?
09:52Woo
09:55I'll go to the top
09:56Oh, I couldn't make it up there
09:58Well, if you can't beat him
10:00You might as well join him, eh, Graham?
10:02I thought you was going to have to climb up and give me a kick down
10:10I'd laugh at you
10:11I thought my butt was going to get stuck in the middle
10:14So did I
10:16Too much information
10:18But glad you both got that out of your system
10:20Meanwhile, Ian has finally delivered on his promise and has navigated wife Glenys to their cabin
10:30Ah, we're here
10:31Oh, hey
10:33Oh, my goodness, I never thought the day would come
10:35You want me to do it?
10:37No, I always do it, don't I?
10:38Okay
10:39Right, ready?
10:40Da-da-da, da-da-da
10:42Oh, didn't work
10:43Oh, didn't work
10:44Oh!
10:47That's it
10:48We're in at last
10:54We're in at last
10:58Oh, my word
10:59Oh, my giddy aunt
11:01That is not what I expected
11:02You never had that before
11:03You never had that before?
11:04This week, our fun-loving Brits are kicking off their cruising adventure in the French coastal town of Lorient
11:25Father and son duo, Graham and Lewis, have chosen to hit the town with a spot of sightseeing
11:30Get her in
11:32She's in, right?
11:35We'll tag you
11:37Yeah
11:38While experienced cruisers Glenys and Ian have opted to get settled into their new home for the next week
11:47Oh, my word
11:48Oh, my giddy aunt
11:50That is not what I expected
11:54This will be your wardrobe
11:56Oh, crikey
11:58No, it isn't
12:00Oh, my giddy aunt
12:02We can have guests
12:03No, if you snore or if you annoy me, you're in here
12:06I remember going in our cabin, we'd look round and seen there were two bedrooms
12:12There were so many doors that I couldn't get my head round what was where
12:16It was big enough to keep you excited, I thought so
12:20Don't tell me Glenys, your aunt is?
12:23Oh, my giddy aunt
12:25Thought so
12:26Have a walk-in wardrobe
12:28There's so many hangers
12:29Even you can have your clothes in there
12:31How can somebody be so excited about a wardrobe, seriously?
12:35Well...
12:36Oh, my goodness, there's enough there for all my clothes
12:38And if there's any left, you can put some in as well in
12:41That's very kind
12:42I usually have about three or four coat hangers
12:46And I'm not joking
12:48I counted the coat hangers and I had more than 40
12:51I counted coat hangers in the bedroom
12:53In the cabin
12:54Yes, in the cabin
12:55Going back
12:56I did, it's very sad
12:57Oh, it is a walk-in wardrobe
12:59I'll be putting all my stuff away soon
13:01Oh, my giddy aunt
13:02I think I was almost sort of reduced to tears
13:04And that sounds pathetic
13:06How can anybody get so excited about a wardrobe?
13:08I really don't know
13:10But I can
13:11Gosh!
13:13Her own?
13:15Hey, we've got her own balcony
13:17Oh, gosh, I can see her spending time out here
13:20Having a little tipple and reading
13:22Or playing Scrabble
13:24Or falling asleep
13:26Oh, yeah
13:27You're going to be busy on that balcony, Ian
13:30We can see you all the way round, can't we?
13:31Yeah
13:33You know, it's sort of
13:35You can't get it back, can you?
13:36Once you've seen it, you've seen it
13:38But that first impression was like
13:40And the only problem is with that
13:41I think that we've been now spoiled
13:46Whilst Glenis and Ian are taking in the sights from afar
13:50The boys are walking through Lorient
13:52Keen to check out the architecture of such a historic place
13:56The town was born in 1666
13:58But after World War II, 80% of Lorient had to be rebuilt
14:03The town is famous for its mix of 17th century and modern architecture
14:08Apparently, you know
14:10We're doing a bit of research on it
14:12Lorient was a big naval base
14:15Really?
14:16Yeah, but Germany occupied it in World War II
14:19So it's quite a modern city, to be fair
14:21Yeah, well, you can tell there's different art styles
14:23Well, it's been rebuilt
14:24Built in the Second World War
14:25But apparently, they made another church
14:29L'East St. Louis
14:31Ah
14:32It's quite a modern church
14:33Compared to what you'd imagine a church to be like
14:37You mean like a big giant tower sticking up through the trees?
14:40It's there
14:41Well, yeah, yeah
14:43Oh, there it is, look
14:44Yeah, let's go
14:46When you take the time to actually read something and look at it
14:50Check it out
14:51It's definitely a modern architecture though, isn't it?
14:54And when you amaze yourself in the history of it
14:56You become a little bit more attached to the place
14:59And I mean, design-wise as well
15:02You're looking at it, it feels very minimalist
15:04It's very smooth, very blocky
15:06You can't deny that when you do see something at such a scale like that
15:10It's just impressive
15:12Well, should we go explore some more?
15:14Yeah, come on
15:16That's incredible
15:18I'm a bit hungry though
15:20I was just about to say the same thing
15:22What are you going to have?
15:23I fancy it's seafood
15:25Maybe it's the...
15:26You know I don't like seafood
15:27I know, but we're going on a cruise, Pops
15:29We're going to be in the middle of the ocean
15:30Like, now's the time to embrace it
15:32They are ugly blighters
15:34They should be left in the sea
15:36No one wants to look at a fish
15:38And then over fish
15:39Yeah, but they do taste good
15:41Oh, God, man, I don't know how we can see it
15:44They're just...
15:46Yes, I think Graham might take some more convincing, Lewis
15:49We're here for experiences
15:51Okay
15:52Yeah?
15:53Maybe try a little bit
15:54Oh, you're going to love it
15:55I promise you'll like it
15:56As Graham prepares himself for a new culinary experience
16:03Back over at the ship
16:05Glenys is getting her holiday clothes acquainted with her 40 plus hangers
16:10When you see all these hangers clothes, you'll love it
16:14Absolutely love it
16:16Why don't you go and hang some things up
16:19And then there'll be less room in your case
16:22Oh, my gosh, this is so exciting having a wardrobe that you can actually hang stuff in
16:28There is a lot more to do on this ship, you know, Glenys
16:32In terms of who had what space in the wardrobe, Glenys had 85% and I had the other 15%
16:42I would normally argue with a statement like that, but I think I probably have more than that
16:47Yeah, most of my clothes were in the drawers at the sides of the bed and in the dressing table
16:55And that's why I went out at night, my clothes were pristine and Iain's were all creased
17:00Suitcases fully unpacked, it's time for Glenys and Iain to get stuck into their sweet treats
17:05Oh, there it goes, I'm sorry about that
17:13Seriously, you're not sorry at all, I think you did it on purpose
17:16Now, now you two, no falling out, we've only just started
17:19Is that because I brought too many clothes and you want to get rid of some?
17:23Well
17:24What if it was the only pair I had this colour and it matches everything?
17:29That would be a problem
17:30It is a problem
17:31But we'll, we'll not bother around
17:33Cross that bridge when we come to it
17:34As Glenys and Iain deal with strawberry gate, Graham and Lewis have found a seafood restaurant before heading to the ship
17:44This looks like a nice spot
17:46A seafood restaurant
17:49Ah, time to embrace la poisson Graham, you might like it
17:54Particularly told him never to take me to a fish restaurant and where do we end up? First meal, fish restaurant, typical Lewis
17:59I'll, I'll try a little bit of yours
18:02Well, it's all about trying new things, innit?
18:04What are you thinking of having them, pops?
18:06I don't know, I'm gonna get this
18:07Ah, bonjour
18:08Bonjour
18:09Est-ce que vous souhaitez avoir quelque chose pour commencer?
18:13Erm, sorry, I don't, I don't speak that well French
18:17Yeah, in English
18:18Bonjour
18:20It's that
18:22Erm
18:23This sounds really terrible, doesn't it? We don't know, like, other people's languages
18:26I thought you had, like, you told me you'd learnt some circuit, pops, you can say you forgot
18:31Yeah, I forgot
18:33Can I have that one, please?
18:35Le moule ou bleu?
18:36Oh, no, not the blue, that one
18:38Le moule marinière
18:39Yes
18:40Okay, no problem
18:41Are you sure?
18:42Erm, yeah, please could I have the, er, ceviche de bar?
18:45Le ceviche de bar
18:46Oh, yeah, yeah, I tried
18:47No problem
18:48Try, try again
18:49Ceviche de bar
18:50Oui
18:51Ceviche de bar
18:52Ceviche de bar
18:53Nailed it
18:55Are we taking the menu?
18:56Oh, yeah, thank you
18:57Thank you
18:58I would say thank you
18:59Merci
19:00Merci, of course
19:01Merci beaucoup
19:03It doesn't say it like French
19:05Merci beaucoup
19:06Is that French?
19:07Perfect
19:08Oh, wow
19:09Wow, thank you
19:10Here you go, pops
19:12Thank you very much
19:14Brought you the saucepans
19:15Oh, thank you so much
19:18Oh, check that out
19:21Thank you
19:22Look at this
19:24Fancy, huh?
19:25Nice
19:26When my muscles turned up
19:28I was overwhelmed
19:30I mean, what, that must have been for two people
19:33Yeah, if not three, four, I'm pretty sure
19:39You could have had some, man, if you'd have asked
19:41I enjoyed what I got, definitely
19:43Can I have a muscle, Dad?
19:44I tried a muscle
19:47I hope this is how you're meant to eat it
19:49Well, I know
19:51Here you go, try this
19:53No, no, no
19:54You said you'd try it
19:55No, no, no, no
19:56It's so much smaller
19:57What is that?
19:58Fish!
20:00Try that
20:02It's nice
20:03I wanna promise
20:06Oh, it's cold
20:07Yeah, yeah, of course it's cold
20:09Man, I laugh
20:10I mean, the flavours are nice
20:11It's garlicky, quite heavy
20:12It's the texture, man
20:14Is it the texture?
20:16I didn't expect it to be cold, I thought it was hot
20:19Well done, Graham
20:20At least you tried
20:22It'd be unfair and disrespectful not to try some fish in a fish restaurant
20:26No way, you were adamant you wasn't gonna try it until I thought
20:30I thought you tried it and then you offered me it, just try that bit
20:33So I thought, okay, and I ate it and it was stone cold
20:37It was very cold
20:38That freaked me out massively
20:40Hey, what time is it?
20:41Oh
20:43I think we...
20:45I think we need to get going
20:46What would you do if you looked over your shoulder and it wasn't there?
20:48Oh, no, imagine
20:49I think you should eat faster
20:52Let's get going soon
20:54There you go, Pops
20:55Cheers
20:56Right, let's get going
20:57Come on
20:58Let's get to that ship
21:00Yeah, we started our trip with new things, I think
21:02Going into a fish restaurant, but yeah, it was really nice
21:05I really enjoyed it
21:07Looking forward to going onto the cruise
21:09It means a lot really
21:11I've seen a different side of Lewis as well
21:13His...
21:14His...
21:16His ability to pick out information from buildings and things like that
21:20And they tell me all about it and stuff
21:23But yeah, it's good
21:25It means a lot to me this
21:26Just to be with Lewis really
21:28Yeah
21:29Look at that ship
21:31Wonder what the foes like on that
21:33This trip is important to me
21:34Just...
21:35I think really when I've sat and had a moment to think
21:38Why I'm doing this
21:39Is because I'm very aware that
21:42Everyone's getting a bit older now
21:43Like my kids are growing up
21:45Albeit, you know, still only young
21:46But I'm getting older
21:47My dad's getting older
21:48And I don't want to get to the point where we can't do a trip like this
21:52And we go, we wish we did
21:54So overall
21:56It's really important actually
21:57I know we're gonna look back and just be like, what a blast
21:59And whilst Graham and Lewis finally make their way to the ship
22:05It's time for a spot of afternoon tea for Glenys and Ian
22:08Here we go
22:09We're in the right place
22:10This is where we have our high tea
22:12I'm starving, you're not hungry
22:13Oh yeah, well that's why I missed lunch
22:15So we could have this
22:17Every week the ship serves thousands of platters of pastries and sandwiches
22:21So nobody needs to worry about running out of sweet treats
22:26Cakes, cakes, cakes and more cakes
22:29I love cakes
22:30I could live off them
22:33Seriously
22:34Right
22:35Bon appetit
22:36Bon appetit
22:37Oh!
22:41Mmm, that's yummy
22:43Mmm
22:44I think I've been a bit greedy
22:45I don't think I'll probably get through all that
22:47When I go anywhere
22:50Whether it's out for the day or on a week's holiday or wherever
22:55I always have to look for cakes
22:57I think I've got a bit of an obsession with cakes actually
23:01And what I actually like the most is that they're a nice little size
23:06So...
23:07You can have a lot of them
23:08I do like my cakes and I certainly have my fill of cakes
23:12But luckily I never get fed up of cakes
23:15That's my soul
23:20Sweet
23:21I'm a sweet person, you're not
23:23Indeed
23:25Oh, hi
23:26Thank you so much
23:27Thank you
23:32Oh, beautiful
23:33Thank you so much
23:37Mmm
23:39Cheers
23:40Cheers
23:41Here's to a very enjoyable cruise
23:47Here's to my cream on my scone
23:49There's a bit there that you haven't got some cream on
23:52Yeah
23:54Yeah, well done
23:56Cream on scones
23:58Since when did you call them scones?
24:00Scones
24:02Scones
24:04They're from Lancashire, they're scones
24:06I think I need to cut down a bit on the cakes
24:08Come on, Glynnis, you're on holiday
24:11Treat yourself
24:12Well, yeah, I'll have to waddle you down that gangplank
24:15I couldn't eat another thing now
24:18Right
24:19Right, shall we go back to the cabin?
24:21Yeah
24:22Well, that was delicious
24:23I'm glad we missed lunch for that
24:25That was...
24:26I feel like I'm...
24:27Oh, that's... I've eaten too much
24:29It'll be the cream
24:30Yeah
24:35It's the moment they've been waiting for
24:37First-time cruisers Graham and Lewis
24:39Finally make their way to the ship
24:43Look at that over there, look
24:44There she is
24:45Oh, I can see it pops
24:47Ooh, look at that
24:49Whoa
24:51Look at that!
24:52I really do hope we've got a balcony deck
24:53Imagine that!
24:55Yeah
24:56And the sea view, of course
25:00Oh
25:03Here we go pops
25:04Oh, we made it!
25:05Here we are
25:07Come on
25:08Let's go find it
25:12Look at the size of it pops
25:15And this is home
25:16This isn't even the biggest one, you know
25:19Oh?
25:20People on board already
25:21Yeah
25:23I'm glad you got us here on time, Dad
25:24Oh, yeah
25:25You did the job I asked you to do
25:27Yes
25:28God's tour has officially started, hasn't it pal?
25:30Yeah, I feel like we're going to have a cracking time
25:32Or at least a beautiful one
25:33Then have a look
25:34Let's get exploring then, eh?
25:35Yeah, let's do it
25:36Come on, let's go and have a look
25:37Look
25:38Ah
25:40It's day one of this week's cruise
25:58And both pairs of holidaymakers are making the most of their time
26:03Oh my giddy hands
26:05And seasoned cruisers, Glenys and Ian, have wasted no time making themselves at home on board
26:10Oh, there it goes
26:12I'm sorry about that
26:13Seriously, you're not sorry at all, I think you did it on purpose
26:16Meanwhile, first-timers, Graham and Lewis, spend their morning soaking up the sights and eating seafood
26:21Look at that
26:24It's nice, I promise
26:27Oh, it's cold
26:28Yeah, of course it's cold
26:30And now they're dipping their toes into life at sea with their very first taste of cruising
26:36I don't know if I should take my shoes off
26:45I can't believe this is on a shift
26:49Hey, this is cool
26:51This will do, for sure this will do
26:57I didn't expect anything like this
27:00I really thought I should take my shoes off to be honest
27:02So posh
27:04It just didn't feel like he was inside a ship
27:08You know, it felt like he was walking into some sort of hotel lobby
27:11Yeah, it did feel like that, didn't it?
27:13It did, it just took us off by surprise, I think, as well
27:16Yeah, yeah
27:18Taking the lift next time
27:20It's the cardio done for the month
27:23Missed the gym for one day
27:24Here we go, deck 10
27:27Sweet, let's do this
27:28Time for the newbie cruisers to navigate their way to their cabin
27:3710-22
27:39Okay, we're getting closer
27:40It's the next one, it's 10-21, I'm sure
27:43Which is...
27:45It's not there
27:46Where have you taken me now?
27:49I'm going this way
27:52Do you even know where we're going now?
27:5510-21
27:56Ah, yeah
27:58Just for you
27:5910-21
28:00There's our bags
28:01We've made in
28:02At last
28:03Finally, the boys have tracked down their cabin
28:06Have you got a key?
28:08Somewhere
28:09Do you have yours?
28:10I've got mine
28:11I've got my key
28:12I'm always looking after you, boy
28:14I knew I brought you for a reason
28:16Ready?
28:17Yeah, let's have a look
28:19Whoa
28:20Oh my god, we've got fruit
28:22We've got a surfer
28:23What?
28:24That's it, we've made it
28:25This is crazy
28:26And look at the beds
28:27Look how far apart they are
28:28So I don't have to hear you snoring
28:29I can't believe we've got a fruit bowl
28:33I mean, I've done a ferry before
28:35And I was assuming it would be quite similar
28:38You know, we was hoping there would be a balcony at the time, weren't we?
28:40But it was like
28:41I don't know, we even had a bath
28:43Bath?
28:44I did that bath
28:45Oh, that was pathetic
28:49Whoa
28:51Oh, yes
28:52Is it good?
28:53Yeah
28:54Soft enough?
28:55I don't know if you need to lay it though
28:56Because my arm goes away
28:57No, I've already claimed this one
28:58The bag is on this bed
29:00No, you've
29:01No, this is it
29:02You've already sli-
29:03You've already laid down
29:05Ready?
29:06I'm sorry
29:07Yup
29:09What do you think?
29:10Love it
29:11Mmm
29:13Right
29:14Don't speak to me for another day, please
29:18How many jerking pops?
29:19We was alright with the room
29:20Once we got the hierarchy right
29:22You know
29:23The, er
29:24I went first
29:25Age
29:27First
29:28I was going to say age before beauty
29:29But, you know
29:34This is an apple
29:37Even got grapes
29:39I can't believe we've got a fruit bowl
29:40I can't believe we've got a fruit bowl
29:43And whilst Graham finally tucks into his beloved fruit bowl
29:46Glennis and Ian have fuelled up for their first activity
29:50Good afternoon guests
29:52We hope you're having a fantastic day
29:54Anyone for a game of skittles?
29:56I must admit I'm looking forward to this
29:59I'm excited but have you seen the size of the skittles?
30:01Are I like that?
30:02I thought they'd be like that
30:04Ian and I are very competitive
30:05Whatever we're doing
30:07We're good losers
30:08On the outside
30:10But it hurts in here
30:12You've got to take into account the sway of the shit
30:15Oh, don't start
30:17Irene, how many did you get?
30:20A little one
30:21Oh dear
30:24Which is your bad leg?
30:26Both of them
30:29Up next we've got Ian and Glennis both playing for the red team
30:34Come on
30:36Are we ready?
30:42Looks like a sterling start for Ian
30:44What are you thinking, Glennis?
30:46Oh, well I'm a bit disappointed to be honest
30:48I think he could have done better than that
30:50I was expecting a strike
30:52Crikey, tough crowd
30:54Ian used to be able to play really well
30:56Temping bowling
30:58And so I expected great things from him
31:00And to be honest he was nearly as shocking as me, weren't you?
31:03I think there's something to do with the acoustics
31:05Yeah, I knew there'd be some excuse
31:07Here we go then, Glennis
31:09Your turn
31:11Okay
31:13Come here, come here
31:15No pressure
31:17Okay
31:22It's only a game
31:24We say that when we lose
31:26Nice strategy Ian
31:28The skittles were too small
31:30And the ball was too small
31:32I wanted the skittles to be that big
31:34And the ball to be that big
31:36It was disastrous for me
31:38You did okay, didn't you?
31:39Yeah
31:41Next up, Ambassadors Laura has a new plan for our competitive skittle players
31:46All right, what we're going to do to spice things up a bit
31:50We're going to play just one ball each
31:52But it's going to be double points for this final round
31:54Still all to play for, come on team
31:57Come on, come on
31:58That's the spirit Ian
32:00I must admit my first sort of impression on the ship
32:04Obviously we've come straight to doing this
32:06And I think, oh my goodness
32:07I hope there's more activities like this
32:09Absolutely
32:10Because there's such good fun
32:11Yeah
32:12And it's lovely chatting to all the other people
32:14All the guests
32:15And you know
32:16Underarm or overarm?
32:18Ian, just get on with it
32:19Come on
32:20Come on Ian
32:21He shoots
32:22He scores
32:23Give me five
32:25So, I've shown you how to do it
32:26Okay
32:27It's all down to you now, Glenis
32:28With the final bowl
32:29Good luck
32:30Two down, not bad
32:31That is four points
32:32Four
32:33It's better than nothing
32:34It is, just about
32:36It's got worse
32:37In second place, is the red
32:38Oh
32:40Congratulations, please
32:42Well done team
32:43We did our best
32:44And here's our best
32:45We did our best
32:59umm, we did shocking
33:01But for our first activity
33:03We can only get better, can't we?
33:04We can. It gives us a flavour of things to come, I hope, and we'll definitely participate in more.
33:13Well done, you two. It's the taking part that counts.
33:16So that was good fun, wasn't it?
33:17That was really good fun, yeah.
33:19So which way are we going to go? We're going to go that way?
33:20We're going to go that way.
33:21Oh, we'll explore down here.
33:22Down that way?
33:23Yeah, that'll be good.
33:24First team activity ticked off the list. Back in the cabin, Graham and Lewis are settling in before setting sail.
33:38Brought your swim shorts.
33:40Yeah.
33:40Good. Which ones did you bring?
33:43Hmm?
33:43Which ones did you bring?
33:46All of them.
33:47All of them.
33:48I literally feel the same.
33:50Can I get my suit out?
33:51Yeah, get your suit out.
33:52How did she fit that in there?
33:55Ah, mum is good at that, isn't she?
33:56What the hell?
33:57She's very good at packing.
34:01Yeah, I mean, packing for a cruise, that was incredibly difficult for the wife.
34:07She didn't have a clue what I needed.
34:10But she managed to pack it all in.
34:12Yeah.
34:13Oh, look, I've got a message.
34:16Oh.
34:17I miss you, but have a great time.
34:19Once in a lifetime opportunity.
34:21Love you lots, D.
34:22Nah, man.
34:23Told you my mum's a softy.
34:24Yeah.
34:25I left her one under the pillow.
34:26Oh, did you?
34:27What do you think, Pops?
34:28You like it?
34:30Yeah, it's nice of that, mate.
34:31Feels like holiday.
34:32Yeah.
34:34Absolutely excited.
34:35Now that we're actually in the room, it's just like, I feel like we've got a full stop
34:41to where our travel necessity needs to be so we can dump our stuff and know that we've got
34:46like a base.
34:47So now it's just like making it even easier to explore.
34:50As soon as it's all unpacked, I think we're going to just kind of get ourselves ready,
34:54go explore, and actually find something to go do that's just completely not what we're
34:58normally used to.
34:59My roommate, you know, would I change him?
35:01Maybe.
35:02Would I change him forever?
35:03Never.
35:06Whilst Graham and Lewis finish unpacking, Glenys and Ian are getting spruced up and ship-shaped
35:12ready for their first evening on board.
35:14Oh, oh, that looks nice, eh?
35:17Is that all right?
35:18Yeah.
35:19Scrub a bouquet.
35:20I think we're both excited for going out tonight, aren't we?
35:23Yeah.
35:25There we are.
35:26Okay.
35:26Ready to rock and roll?
35:27Ready for me.
35:29First night out?
35:30Yeah.
35:31Having a cocktail of four.
35:36And hopefully, well, I'm sure it'll carry on being as great as it's been today.
35:40Like being in London's Piccadilly.
35:42I know.
35:43Um, it's that good.
35:44Yeah.
35:45Here we go.
35:47Angel bar.
35:47Oh, right.
35:48This is a place where we'll no doubt get a cocktail or two.
35:53Yeah.
35:58I'm going to have a dark and stormy.
36:00What's that?
36:01Dark rum, fresh lime juice, Angostura bitters, sugar syrup and ginger ale.
36:06Oh, that sounds cool.
36:08Yeah.
36:08We're looking forward to an exciting first night on board.
36:12Mm-hmm.
36:12Yeah.
36:13And exploring a little bit more at the same time.
36:15Absolutely.
36:16Yeah.
36:17Thank you very much.
36:19Mm.
36:22Beautiful.
36:23Okay.
36:23Thank you very much.
36:25Oh.
36:26First cocktail of the holiday.
36:28Yeah.
36:28Cheers.
36:29Cheers.
36:29Good health.
36:30Good health.
36:30Here's to plenty more during the cruise.
36:32Cheers.
36:34Cheers.
36:38That's nice.
36:39Tasty.
36:40Mm.
36:43Whilst Glenis and Ian chill out after a busy day, the boys are admiring the view.
36:48Three, two, one.
36:52Wow.
36:54Check that out.
36:58Look at how much room there is.
37:02What?
37:04Let's have a look.
37:07Oh, Pops, I love it.
37:09Oh, wow.
37:10We are going to be so fine here, aren't we?
37:13Yeah.
37:15And Pops, do you know what's going to make this even better?
37:17What's that?
37:17A little bit sweeter.
37:19There's strawberries in a cup of tea.
37:22Shall we have the wine, though?
37:23The wine?
37:24We'll go get it, Pops.
37:36Now that looks nice, doesn't it?
37:38Cheers.
37:39Cheers, Pops.
37:41It's going to be an adventure.
37:42I think so.
37:43Beautiful view.
37:45Beautiful people.
37:47And beautiful strawberry chocolates.
37:50Yeah.
37:50You think they bring them every day?
37:53A cheers.
37:55A proper cheers.
37:56Oh.
37:57Doop.
38:00Mmm.
38:02I really hope they do bring those every day.
38:03What a splendid day it has been for our intrepid travellers.
38:23Lovebirds, Glenis and Ian, have been making the most of what Ambassador Cruise has to offer on board.
38:30Oh.
38:30Give me a five.
38:33Whilst father and son, Graham and Lewis, have been lapping up their time in Lorient.
38:37That's incredible.
38:38That's incredible.
38:40And now the time has come for the ship to set sail and make its way to its next destination.
38:45As Glenis and Ian make their way to the onboard theatre for the evening, Graham and Lewis are taking in the final scenery of Lorient on the top deck.
38:58Oh, thank you very much.
39:00Lovely.
39:01Cheers.
39:01Thank you so much.
39:02We will try.
39:05It's been nice today, hasn't it?
39:07Do you know what?
39:08It felt like we walked for so long.
39:11Yeah.
39:12But to finish it with that restaurant was just something else.
39:16Their muscles looked unbelievable, Pops.
39:19Yeah, they were.
39:20They were nicer.
39:21Really nice.
39:22Oh.
39:24I think we're finally moving.
39:26Can you feel it?
39:27Oh, yeah.
39:28Hey, we're going.
39:29Oh, Pops, that's it.
39:30The trip has officially begun.
39:33It has.
39:34Cheers, Pops.
39:34Cheers, Pops.
39:35Love you, mate.
39:36Love you, too.
39:36Oh.
39:39Hey.
39:40And whilst the boys master their sea legs, Glenis and Ian are ready and waiting for the evening entertainment to commence.
39:47Oh, my gosh.
39:48I've never been as near to the sea.
39:50Full stage.
39:51Yeah.
39:51Yeah.
39:52Wow.
39:53Yeah.
39:54I'm so excited.
39:55Palladium Theatre.
39:56Wait.
39:57Roll up, roll up.
39:58As we present an avant-garde circus show with a difference.
40:02The big top awaits as our ringmaster whips up a storm.
40:10Oh, my God.
40:12That took you by surprise, didn't it, Glenis?
40:16Tonight's onboard production is a circus showcase.
40:21It's based on an avant-garde Victorian circus featuring ten principal performers.
40:26This is just one of the many productions that the theatre crew puts on twice a day.
40:34Whoa.
40:36Whatever you do, have a wonderful rest of your night.
40:38Have a great day tomorrow.
40:40We'll do it all over again.
40:41But let's hear it once again for the cast.
40:43Oh, so, so, so, so.
40:44Oh, my God, I didn't want it to finish, did you?
40:50It's one of the best productions I've ever seen.
40:53Yeah, absolutely.
40:54It should be up there on Broadway or the West End.
40:58The costumes, the music, the energy, the energy that they had.
41:03We feel now, don't we, that we've had one day, I feel like I've been here for four or five
41:08days, and we've crammed so much in, haven't we, that, you know, it's like I keep saying.
41:16If every day's going to be like this, we'll be tired but very happy by the end of the cruise.
41:25And up on the top deck with the boys and their cocktails, talk turns to loved ones back home.
41:30Will our family be a bit jealous?
41:32It'd be nice to have them here, wouldn't it?
41:35But are they going to be a bit jealous?
41:36Oh, they're going to be a lot jealous.
41:37And they're going to be very jealous.
41:39Piennes Cladis, swimming pool, jacuzzi.
41:40Yeah.
41:41Disco.
41:42I'm just...
41:42Bah, bah.
41:45Hey, do you know what?
41:47I'd love to meet the captain.
41:49Yeah, you were saying that before we even arrived, wasn't you?
41:51Yeah, get your suit on.
41:53Go and meet the captain, go for a nice meal.
41:55It would be nice to get dressed up.
41:56I'm looking forward to that.
41:57Yeah, definitely.
41:59I can't remember the last time you wore a suit.
42:01I can't remember the last time I wore a suit.
42:02I know one thing that mum's going to want to see.
42:04Famous Graham selfies throughout our entire trip.
42:09I'm definitely not, like, the selfie taker or location shot anymore,
42:13because I think you've taken over.
42:15Yeah, well.
42:17Come on, I'm up.
42:19Wow, that looks pretty.
42:20Boom, picture.
42:22Everything's a parental selfie moment where your head's too low.
42:26Oh, look, the sun.
42:27I like taking pictures.
42:29It's like memories, aren't they?
42:30Hmm.
42:31Put the cherry on me.
42:32There you go.
42:34Well, cheers.
42:35Give a lifetime, mate.
42:36Cheers, pal.
42:37Let's go fill these up, shall we?
42:38Let's go get some fresh ones.
42:40Cool ones.
42:41The first day is drawing to a close for our holidaymakers.
42:45From exploring the historic French city of Lorient...
42:48Check it out.
42:49..to afternoon tea...
42:51Mmm, actually, isn't it?
42:52..and a game of Skittles.
42:54Hey!
42:56It's safe to say they're all easing into cruise life rather nicely,
43:00but the big question is, what do they make of it all?
43:03Time for the scores.
43:05So how are we going to rate the first day?
43:08OK, well, what we rate...
43:09I take it we're rating it on absolutely everything sort of put together.
43:14Our five suns...
43:15Our five suns.
43:17How would you rate it?
43:19The cabin, the ship, the activities.
43:21Yeah.
43:22Park was fun.
43:23Park won.
43:24So that should be a really, really, really easy fight, shouldn't it?
43:28Well, it should be, but we got lost, didn't we?
43:31Well, that's only because you're gone, lass.
43:34I would never give full marks because there's always got to be an element...
43:38..some room for improvement.
43:39Improvement, yeah.
43:40I'm happy with that.
43:42Yeah.
43:42Five suns.
43:44Five suns.
43:45Proud first day, 100%.
43:46Yeah.
43:47First day, we're going to score four and a half.
43:57Next time, we're on the southwest coast of France.
44:00Not a bad little pad, is it?
44:02Where Glenis and Ian get their taste buds tickled wine tasting.
44:06This is a little spicy.
44:08Very nice.
44:09Then have a go at making some.
44:12It's just a...
44:12Whoops!
44:13It's not as easy as it looks.
44:16And Graham and Lewis get competitive.
44:20Off and on the ship.
44:22Two.
44:23It's four!
44:24Gold.
44:25Oh!
44:25Oh!
44:26Oh!
