04:16is going into the Alfresco Terrace.
04:18They're keeping things simple
04:20in the Stratco shed
04:22with plenty of storage space for tools
04:24and a work area.
04:26If the boys finish, I think we're all playing for 2nd place
04:28because you can't compete with a $100,000 wine cellar.
04:32Just on site today,
04:34we've probably got about
04:368 chippies,
04:388 landscapers,
04:403 electricians.
04:424 plasterers.
04:444 plasterers.
04:46There's so many people
04:48with so many moving parts.
04:50The boys have just
04:524 days left to complete their big game changer
04:54the wine cellar.
04:56It will be accessed from the hall
04:58inside the house, but
05:00sit under their terrace.
05:02Above on the deck
05:04they'll have an outdoor kitchen,
05:06dining and lounge area.
05:08All our gym equipment's arriving this morning
05:10and the room's not quite ready
05:12for it to be installed so
05:14we need to quickly get a second coat of paint on
05:16first thing.
05:18So we're turning our Stratco shed
05:20into half garden shed
05:22tall workshop
05:24and then we're changing the other half
05:26into a fully stacked loaded gym.
05:28We're riddled with anxiety
05:30because we know how much work we've got to do
05:32to be pulled off site for a challenge.
05:34So we've given everyone the rundown
05:36and we're very lucky that our building team
05:38WinStar are insanely good
05:40and they're like, we got this guys.
05:42Don't stress.
05:46Hopefully they'll smash it up
05:48and 90% of the deck will be done today.
05:50Yeah, so lots happening.
05:52We had new invoices come in last night
05:56and they were staggeringly high
05:58so we need it.
06:00Surprise invoices which are never fun.
06:04Their lack of funds hasn't stopped
06:06hand making big plans for their Stratco shed
06:08this week.
06:10Like most of the houses, theirs will be split in two.
06:12The front half is going to be
06:14sort of like an art studio
06:16plant nursery type vibe.
06:18So we're going to have pink swans on the door
06:20to divide that through
06:22the sort of workshop site.
06:24No expense will be spared
06:26on their terrace either.
06:28A built-in barbecue will accompany
06:30their Alfresco dining area
06:32and an outdoor lounge will complete
06:34the entertaining space.
06:36I would be worried this point
06:38if it wasn't CommBank Yellow Week.
06:40I would be very worried.

06:48In house three it's all systems go
06:52on Britt and Taz's outdoor kitchen.
06:54We wanted to have like a full
06:56pretty much servicing outdoor kitchen.
06:58So we want to have barbecue,
07:02a pizza oven and a teppanyaki grill.
07:04And around the teppanyaki you're going to have
07:06some chairs so everyone can sit.
07:08As we said before our outdoor kitchen's
07:10bigger than some other people's kitchens' kitchens.
07:12Britt and Taz are taking on
07:14the boys' wine cellar this week
07:16by turning half their Stratco shed
07:18into a speakeasy wine bar.
07:20The other half will remain a tool shed.
07:22You feel at this point you're like

09:50So we took in our cakes to the Country Women's Association.
09:58There were three ladies there who were going to be our judges.

10:23but they taste nice.

10:28I know the CWA is very strict with timing,
10:32but I've made a chocolate ribble cake that my Nan used to make me every year

18:09proud of daddy yeah I just started crying I was so emotional and it just kind of bubbled up out of
18:26nowhere and yeah oh it was just such a amazing feeling to see them in after all this time you
18:37know leaving my partner in Brooks that you know he was four and a half months old when I left him
18:42and now he's seven months old and I've missed a lot and it's such an important time as a parent and
18:50and seeing his little face nothing else on planet Earth mattered not one thing it was great to see
18:58him it was great to see Alyssa it was great to see the smile on your face
19:01I felt sick I felt giddy I felt excited it means everything to have them in front
19:22of us just to hug them it was great it was pretty emotional we were lucky enough to see our families
19:32last night and have a big dinner with them but for our neighbors to see their family like their kids
19:42that they haven't seen for 10 weeks I was getting emotional just watching them yeah right this is my
19:49incredible family my beautiful parents Tish and Lisa and my sister Jess and my nephew Harvey I love
19:58these people so much no words we were really proud of him yeah it's amazing and I've really struggled
20:04the last three weeks with trying to present rooms and the feedback and seeing these guys seeing our
20:10family seeing my son seeing my girlfriend it was all we needed it's been 70 days and yeah I can't
20:18believe it I'm just still in shock and I'm so happy to have this little guy on my arms right
20:23now it's just what we needed I think we've got mum and Brits mum Kelly and Danny we've got a little
20:31girl Mila we've got Carter boy our boy and then we've got Brits brother and sister Will and Savannah
20:37so the whole family say hello hello I think that's the biggest thing is seeing how much they've grown is
20:44like it's a lot of development that you miss a lot of master and there's so many face times you can
20:49do but yeah it's not the same for them yeah or us we would have had this opportunity without mum and
20:56and Kelly like they've they've taken the lion's share of looking after our kids and not easy taking care
21:01of four and two year olds so um we can't thank them enough for everything they've done for us on this
21:06journey as well it does reinforce everything that we've given up and why we're here and why we're
21:10working so hard we have both of our families here starting with Brandon which is Candace's brother
21:15with our little nephew Ollie mother-in-law Deb to me but Candace's mum Tim my dad Lee Helen my mum
21:25obviously this crazy idiot here we know this one but Alex which is Candace's cousin and then Bianca my
21:31best friend it's like the biggest most special surprise of the whole block season seeing them
21:37come here and make the trip specially you know putting off work and and coming all the way over
21:42to Dalesford from WA means the world oh it's the best thing ever but like I wish they could stay
21:48this day is uh the one that we've been waiting for the most I think since we've started and it's just so
22:03good to see the kids and our best mates this morning it's just mum and dad and mum and dad yeah sorry mum
22:10they're the whole they're the whole reason why we're allowed to be here sorry like we've had some
22:15good times on the block but nothing beats seeing those kids run out and given a big cuddle like it
22:21was that's it that's the best feeling I've had on the block I really like seeing them today because I
22:26haven't seen them for a real long time and I miss them we miss you too yeah I'm really really proud of
22:34and we think about every second of every day yeah I just feel guilty for leaving for so long because
22:40you know it is such a long time that we have been here this is the hardest thing we've ever done but
22:47it's been such a great very rewarding yeah and so you sort of feel bad for the kids because we have
22:55enjoyed we have some news for you guys sorry mum and dad we're going to get married again today while you
23:08guys are here with us so you guys can be a part of it you can come to the party what do you reckon our first
23:13wedding um Aria and Boston were born Cole was not and he quite often looks at the wedding photos and asks why
23:20wasn't he invited to the party so we always wanted to do this again for him so he could feel
23:26included in that special day and make some memories as our family you know of five you can finally come to the
23:32party is that good yes
23:35how do we feel about this afternoon um I finally get to see it now yeah you get to see it because
23:52you weren't even thought of on that last time so you're gonna you're happy yeah are you saying they

25:55in Australia all right come over here first we gotta go over here we get ready in the house and the boys

34:53while all the teams were off site for most of the day yesterday work continued on their alfresco terraces

35:15i'm like yes finally something that i feel like i'm half decent at
35:19allow yourself to take a deep belly breath but then we start to hear some little noises
35:34we are going to be moving with some beautiful animals we're doing goat yoga
35:41i don't like yoga at the best time but yoga with baby goats and chickens stop it every day of the week

37:52week this week it is complete hence yellow high viz happy days um joel is all about home energy
37:59efficiency as we all as we all are and he's going to go around today with us on walk arounds
38:04and we're going to pick the person that has best created home energy efficiency and he's going
38:08to give them 20k let's go okay come on we'll start here we were so eager to run through with joel
38:16from combang about our home's energy efficiency and where we live in normal lives we've got to be
38:22pretty sustainable anyway but when they announced there was a challenge for it i could not wait
38:28we've got the 3d printed cabanas and obviously everyone's got them with the solar panels and the
38:32battery and that that feeds some of our stuff up here as well with the hot tub and stuff so we're
38:36going to be drawing off that solar that's why we've we spent a bit more money just to drag those lines
38:40out we'd rather use your whole wellness area is off grid is off grid at the back we've got chook pens
38:46going in so that's a bit of a secret but um all out of nine and six recycling materials we've got the
38:51veggie garden as well and in the veggie garden's going to be a greenhouse so you can have your own
38:56curbs or your own veggies so we're trying to be like self-sufficient here and the chook pen will
39:00fertilize that yeah farm farm to table sort of experience here all the appliances that we've
39:04got given with the kitchen upgrade the sub-zero fridge keeping your fruit and veggies a lot longer
39:08that's very important yeah you've got the eunox oven that self cleans itself it's underfloor heating
39:12throughout so you're not having to rely on your air con just blaring all day i finished my pitch
39:18half an hour later and i think joel was bored by the end of it we pinched these big posts from scotty's
39:25sawmill these had fallen over just uh on the other side of melbourne um and they were they were
39:29carted here and they got to be reused we did put so much effort into it because 20k is massive
39:35it's massive but also energy efficiency is also very massive we're eventually when we can get under
39:40the house adding a gray water treatment system so all of our we like that joel yeah definitely yeah
39:46all of our gray water that comes out of our kitchen um main ensuite and laundry will be treated
39:52through a filtration process and then push back the irrigation ben did a really good pitch i think
39:59you nailed it so you you have a pitch prepared well we can make a little pitch but no no i'm sure
40:07someone told you this i found this out 30 seconds ago it wasn't communicated to me so unfortunately
40:14i was sort of a bit caught off guard you know we're just going to add them here here's our pitch
40:18here comes from here from week one we took our support beams out of our skylight system to open
40:24up the skylights in every room so essentially you don't need to turn a light on in the house until
40:30the sun is down keep going keep going well um i recycled yesterday put the cans out yeah that's nice
40:37actually yeah it was it was a shambles anyway so uh we've used all recycled timber beams throughout our
40:45ceiling we reused all the spare bricks that were sent and we have built our fireplace in there um
40:51also to use the fireplace as a log burner rather than using you know heat from other sources we also
40:58use spare bricks for that were left over for our barbecue area which we're currently building we have
41:03the highest energy rating in our washer it's a five star and our dryers and eight staff been very
41:09you know forthcoming in chasing that sustainability prize we're going to have five veggie gardens down
41:15the side so you can produce your own produce farm to table we've got the beautiful water tanks are
41:21obviously a huge feature at the back of our home two rain water tanks yep i don't think we have done
41:27enough as a household to make our home super green and super lean okay so that's your pitch done
41:33yes that's how it's done i need to just touch on very quickly your budget because i'm very concerned
41:42of the cash that i gave you in the original budget you guys were eighty thousand dollars over that budget
41:47gone and then you got some winnings and i gave you fifty thousand bucks in yellow a week from comp bank
41:53the 50k that we gave you on monday is gone what's it gone to no you're six grand over are we yeah yeah over
42:02budget i don't think of all the money that we've you've won and we've given you i need to check
42:07this spreadsheet no no i've checked the spreadsheet that's why i'm talking to you about it you're six
42:11k over uh the budget that is incredibly terrifying i didn't realize how grave the situation i thought
42:19we were still in the positive somewhat no but even plastering your shed that that's yeah again another
42:26five grand here ten grand here that's that you just can't spend when you're tied in your in your
42:32budget situation that should have been a garden shed yeah we don't want to not finish or finish our

43:01it's a big old gym and it is beautiful so we'll have this done to be honest within a few hours today
43:08the equipment for robbie and matt's gym was installed while they were at the challenge
43:12yesterday so this morning they've been working on their tool shed this room is done in half hour
43:18i just gotta give it a clean uh and then we're gonna bring all the stratco gear tomorrow and then it's
43:23sweet then we can lock the doors on these two and then saturday's pure wine cellar and deck everyone's
43:30on the tools at our house and i spoke to gmac and said hey mate how do you how do you feel about
43:37this and he goes it's getting done mate don't stress and we don't have a roof on at this stage
43:46do we have a staircase yet no
43:51am i having anxiety about this yes because how can we get down to the wine cellar if we don't have
44:00a staircase there's a no roof and there's enough space you can see the sun i just said to matt we
44:08need to focus on everything but the staircase and cellar because saturday is going to be the biggest
44:12day that we're going to have on the show ever their cellar may still be a work in progress while we're on
44:21site shell and i can't help but sneak a peek at the biggest play on the block this year hold on i'm
44:28just trying to you you pack this wall out your staircase is going down from the corridor straight
44:33down correct yep so you've lost you've lost a meter and 1200 of the deck yeah yeah which it's a massive
44:39deck anyway doesn't matter yeah yeah yeah that's it despite the slightly smaller terrace the boys have
44:48plenty of room for a barbecue dining area and an outdoor lounge and hidden underneath is the master

46:34i think the biggest concern from the scott and shelley walk around this morning was
46:39them raising the concern of our budget and that we're in the red god day from hell yeah
46:46yeah can i get better from here can it yeah of course take a look at it till the invoice is coming
46:55and then that's the budget that's hurt yeah yeah so week on week we have overspent we haven't won for
47:04the last five six weeks that is costing us we're now at a crunch point and that overspend means we
47:13don't have enough it's eating into our landscaping budget your house is really good really really good
47:18inside but you've got to finish it off out here too because the backyards are pretty big it's massive
47:24yeah i mean saying it all season is the backyard will sell the house and that is why han is working
47:29so hard on the shed because we are pulling back on trades hard this week
47:37han has taken on to complete as much of the project on her own and put in as much labor and hours as she can
47:47colby came to me and said that the girls are having a really really hard time they're probably not going
47:51to finish um so i went and had a chat with her i saw she was working in her strike co shed and she
47:58was just really really down like you're the hardest worker around here so this obviously must be so
48:03exhausting for you my body was tired i was getting tired i was just like it's like obviously you need
48:11help like but can't afford help so i'm stuck i plastered this myself like i threw the sheets up i
48:21screwed them all in like tried everything just to try save money just got like no money to do anything
48:31like we're you know the decks not going anywhere like haven't finished the shed like

50:20as there's no detriment to us like obviously you don't want us to finish but i'm more than happy to

50:57absolutely roasting us on monday i think they should get fined for working ahead that's probably a good

51:10rules you get penalized i'm also a bit furious a bit over like people talking about us and rinsing us and
51:16and wanting us to do bad because we turn around and the people we are are like you're in a bad spot

52:19sell their homes that's right it was great to see all the block houses had home energy upgrades
52:25for things like home solar battery storage and heat pumps for the pools we know that these things
52:30can help save future owners on their power bills okay joel you've been through the houses you've heard
52:36the pictures of everybody who is going to take home the 20 000 bucks thanks to combank this house
52:42uh it not only made use of the essentials but they also had smart appliances and thought about
52:49heating and cooling and had the best long-term vision for the property

53:45there is no way in hell that they should have won that at all why because their whole house has
53:55underfloor heating which is not energy efficient that's the most unsustainable house in the street
54:03i would like to know honestly what they did
54:07as much recycled timber from the wood miser in your yard or i guess maybe they won it that way
54:12maybe they had more recycled timber than anyone if they've you know done the thing about the
54:18recycled timber with the logs etc well they took all the logs and there's still half of them sitting
54:22out the back of the campsite so how sustainable is that some of them should have gone in my yard
54:26run in case you haven't done the maths house three have won an extra thirty thousand dollars this week
54:34on the block every year there's rich teams and there's poor teams right now the rich team is house
54:38one and house three they're coasting and then you've got poor old house two who are really really
54:43struggling i know sorry mate we are in the red it's
54:54maybe the worst day on the block money is at the forefront of everything we're doing we're running
54:59out of time running out of money i think there's massive concern about completing
55:06monday night a lot to do in a day poor concrete build stairs fit out a whole wine cellar style
55:15the wine cellar fill up the wine cellar it's a mad rush to tools down
55:21a lot to do in two hours i've never had this much to do in two hours
55:26tools down and then it's judging oh my gosh can i say this is perfect it does its job and it looks
55:35bloody good doing it that is the best material on the block that is a stubborn mistake i think that
55:43that is a big miss unfortunately they can't sell the drain
