Sambhal: A tragic incident unfolded in the Tanki area where Anshul Varshney (34), son of BJP business cell district coordinator Anil Kumar, was found hanging in his rented home.

According to police, Anshul returned from Lucknow on Friday evening. When his father later arrived, he found the door locked from inside. On breaking it open with neighbours’ help, Anshul was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan. A suicide note was recovered from his pocket.

Family members allege that Anshul was under immense pressure due to a marital dispute. His wife had filed a divorce case and, as per the note, her family was allegedly demanding a house and ₹2 crore for settlement. Anshul wrote that he could no longer bear the harassment and cursed his in-laws in his final words.

The deceased was employed as a computer operator in a Lucknow bank. Married eight years ago, he had a daughter. For the past two and a half years, he was living separately after a dispute with his wife.

Police confirmed that forensic evidence has been collected and the body sent for post-mortem. Further action will follow once the family’s complaint is recorded.
