00:00It's beyond question that we're going to, over the course of this parliament, in government, reduce child poverty.
00:06We've made that commitment. It's why we've taken a first step in doing that by expanding free school meals,
00:11which is going to cut the child poverty rate by 100,000 children, which is a major step.
00:17Now, there's a whole bunch of other measures that we could take to reduce child poverty further.
00:22Right at the top of that list or near the top of that list is changes to the two child benefit cap,
00:27which is why there's a debate about it and an interest in it.
00:30But we need to make sure, A, that we've got the money to make that change.
00:33So that's a decision that we take really seriously. We have to fund these things.
00:37And secondly, we've got to weigh up and trade off different ways of tackling child poverty.
00:42We've not made that decision yet. There'll be a child poverty strategy that we publish that sets out how we're going to do about reducing child poverty.
