Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer says the government's free childcare rollout for children aged from nine months to four years will be a "game changer" for parents, saying it will save families thousands of pounds.

00:07So that's free childcare from nine months to four years, which is a game changer for parents and for young
00:14children as well,
00:15because being able to arrive at school ready to learn makes such a difference.
00:19I'm aware, because parents have told me in other parts of the country, that some additional costs have been added.
00:26So I'm here to make it clear through you that the core provision that the government is providing is there,
00:33free for everyone.
00:34And so the additional fees can't cut across what the government is doing.
00:38That's really important, because whatever's going on in the world, whatever's going on in politics,
00:43and there's a lot for almost all families across the country, the cost of living is still the single most
00:49important issue.
00:50And free childcare saves thousands of pounds, allows parents and carers to get back to work, and it's fantastic for
00:55children.
