00:00The odds of any human being born are 1 in 10 to the 2,685,000th power.
00:07In comparison, the number of atoms in the known universe, according to scientists, is 10 to the 80 power.
00:16That's how much of a miracle each one of us is.
00:19You may have caught this talented singer, rapper, and motivational speaker on one of his many media appearances,
00:26such as on Steve Harvey's Little Big Shots, his influential TED Talk, or Con Banega Kropiti,
00:33the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, where he was interviewed by Amita Bachchan.
00:39This is Sparsh Shah, a global inspiration whose journey with osteogenesis imperfecta or brittle bone disorder
00:46has captured countless hearts all over the world.
00:49Sparsh, who hails from New Jersey, U.S., first shot to fame with his Indian classical cover of Eminem's Not Afraid,
00:58now with over 18 million views.
01:01He has since shared his story across nine countries and raised over 4 million U.S. dollars for charities
01:17like the Garden of Dreams Foundation and the Encouraged Kids Foundation.
01:21Submarise from pain to where my purpose lies, fill my heartbeats, boom bars, leave up surprise.
01:26This book never ends with this pen, always right till we spare, and I'm aware that I'm shining Christ's light.
01:29From flowing like water, my fire gets hotter, the beat rockin' harder, breathtaking me farther,
01:33clean up up, jumpstarted, the rocker, a potter, a poetry totter, music is my fighter.
01:36The complexity of my trap and rap's dexterity beckons whim,
01:39cause I truly, fully am a sort of force to be reckoned with.
01:43Rap lacks me silver seven times, I sift, paradigm shifts, mend bridges or make riffs.
01:46I make grooves and tunes and move in soothe with me and you and keep it 110% the truth.
01:50Twinkle eyes, calls divine, will sell my soul, and I'm worth the gold.
01:52I'm here to kill, but spread goodwill, so peace be still, let me share my skills, help us heal.
01:56You can tell I'm filled with zeal, cause this is only inception, hip-hop's reigning succession.
02:00I'm here to help reclaim a lost kingdom fitted in regression.
02:03So here arrives the next dare, to separate the weak from the terror.
02:07I'ma stay bold and I won't be scared, but even at my height, my mission will stay clear.
02:10I'm mushering in a new era since, we're at a crossroad, stakes are immense.
02:14That's why I'm pure rhythm, clean and rinsed.
02:16I may not be the rap god, but I am a rap prince.
02:20When I was born, you know, with 40 fractures coming out of my mother's womb and doctors
02:31had given us, like, given me just two days to live.
02:34Like, that was the prognosis.
02:36Second day, they had given my parents a permission slip saying, you know, I think it's the do
02:41not resuscitate waiver, they call it.
02:44That, you know, because I could barely breathe with all my fractures.
02:47Instead of giving in to despair, 22-year-old Sparsh chose to live his life to the fullest.
02:57His name means touch in Sanskrit.
03:00And with his music, his spirit, and his story, he is touching hearts around the world.
03:06Sparsh is on a mission to spread hope and perseverance, and he's already making waves
03:11through his music.
03:14Music has just been such a, it's been like a healing agent for me.
03:21You know, first physically, you know, when I would break a bone, it would distract me from
03:27the pain.
03:28And then emotionally, once I started writing songs at the age of 10, you know, that's when
03:32music really became my therapy.
03:34And spiritually, you know, like, the more I've come to perform, the more I've come to
03:42sing, the more I've come to practice, the more and more deeply I've come to see music
03:49as a vehicle of worship.
03:51Sparsh was recently in Malaysia, where he spoke to a crowd of about 10,000 people at the V
03:58Malaysia Conference 2025.
04:01He later visited Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur.
04:04I must say, I have not found too many places where people have taken care of me as much as
04:12the people here in Malaysia, me and my family.
04:15The hospitality here is next level.
04:17Sparsh recently obtained a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary music studies at Berklee
04:24Online.
04:25Performing under the name Pure Rhythm, he hopes his music can catalyze positive change in
04:31people's lives.
04:33You are beyond loved.
04:37And if nobody's ever said that to you, well, I love you.
04:43And I mean that because you are one of a kind.
04:49Yes, you may be an identical twin, but even identical twins aren't the same.
04:56Because your story no one can repeat.
04:59And really, when you put that with your passion, together with your passion, I think sharing that
05:05becomes our purpose.
05:06And so, you know, I'm rooting for you because your story, when you put that together with
05:16your passion, and you share that as your purpose, is going to bless so many other people.
05:22Natasha Bust and Terrence Toh, FMT.
