00:00I'll be right back.
00:30Two huge midweek games to bring you tonight from the Premiership.
00:43Ball Cup versus Ivernian to come.
00:46But first, how would Aberdeen respond to crashing out of the League Cup at the weekend
00:50as they travel to Tanadice to take on new firm rivals, Dundee United.
00:54Huge focus on Aberdeen boss Jimmy Tallin.
00:57It's like still without a win, still without a goal in the Premiership this season.
01:02Commentary comes from Alistair Ladd.
01:05United's last outing was the thrilling 3-3 draw with Hibbs ten days ago.
01:09Jim Goodwin names the same side that started that one.
01:12Well fit again, Ryan Strain returns to the bench.
01:16In the continuing quest for a winning formula, Jimmy Tallin makes three changes to the side that lost to Motherwell.
01:21Sievert-Nielsen replaces club captain Graham Schinney in the midfield and takes the armband.
01:27Dante Polvara is in for Adil Auschisch.
01:30And Nicholas Milanovic returns to the starting line-up with Toppy Keskenen dropping to the bench.
01:35Stewart-Armstrong and Aberdeen to kick us off tonight.
01:41And as much as the visitors have their well-publicised woes, United's derby win over Dundee is their only one in seven.
01:49So room for improvement for them as well.
01:52That's a good ball.
02:01Fata now away from Jensen who had a little tug and it's cut back and a good save from Mitov to deny Sapsford.
02:13Fata back for Sapsford.
02:16Taking a little nick off Knister.
02:18It's probably helped Mitov in the end.
02:20Good stop anyway from the Bulgarian.
02:28United corner swung in and that's headed wide, well wide in the end from Eselink.
02:43Just couldn't get the purchase he was looking for on it.
02:50That's a terrible ball infield from Milanovic.
02:58Now, can United take advantage?
03:01It's Dolceic.
03:05It's Kamara, I think who was furthest forward there.
03:07Couldn't get anything on it.
03:09Aberdeen will counter.
03:10Led by Armstrong.
03:17Carlsen.
03:19Looks like he's eyeing up the shot and he is.
03:22And it's saved.
03:23Initially, it comes back to Nisbet.
03:25Povara tries to flick it towards goal and eventually just stabbed out of play.
03:31Aberdeen's best effort thus far.
03:33Carlsen just trying to find a yard of space.
03:36It was moving.
03:40That's Armstrong.
03:42Comes to Jensen.
03:45And Kutcherenko manages to keep that in play.
03:49Tries to get it to Sapsford, which he does, and he's slid it through for Dolceic now.
03:54Ivan Dolceic, good save, Mitov.
03:59Still the chance might be there for United.
04:01Sapsford wants it back.
04:02Dolceic goes himself.
04:05Then Sapsford goes down, claiming he was caught.
04:09And in fact, he is going to be yellow carded.
04:15Not for that incident, but for something that happened earlier.
04:18Which I'm not sure he quite believes.
04:27This is a really good opportunity for Ivan Dolceic.
04:31He's already got four goals in his four Premiership games.
04:35And you'd probably have backed him to get a fifth there.
04:38I think that's what Sapsford had been booked for, but why the game wasn't then stopped, if it was a foul, is a little bit confusing.
04:54Ferry with another long throw in coming.
04:57Didn't get quite as much distance as he would have hoped to on that one.
05:02Sends it back in towards the area, flicked on.
05:05And it will come for the opening goal!
05:08Rattled home by that man, Ivan Dolceic.
05:13Five goals in five games in the league this season.
05:17And the Croatian finds the bottom corner to give United the advantage.
05:26United dealt with a long throw-in.
05:29It was the second ball.
05:31And then the flick on there.
05:34And as it fell to Dolceic, he caught it so, so sweetly.
05:38And Mitov went down, but couldn't get a glove to it.
05:46And United have the breakthrough on the cusp of half-time.
05:51That's Armstrong for Nielsen.
06:07And now it's Carlsen.
06:08Can we get the shot off here, back onto the right foot?
06:12Big chance here!
06:14Glanced wide by Polvara.
06:16Couldn't get enough of a contact on it to divert it into the back of the net.
06:23That was going wide from Milanovic.
06:25And he just couldn't trouble the goalkeeper.
06:32Ferry closed down there.
06:34Keeps possession.
06:36Kamara now.
06:37Chevalier.
06:39Takes a look up.
06:40And then tipped wide by Mitov.
06:43Needed saving.
06:44Might just have sneaked in at the bottom corner, that one.
06:56Amar Fata with the corner kick.
06:59Glanced on, big chance!
07:01And there is the second goal!
07:03And it's Bert Esselink!
07:04From a couple of yards out, it's a well-worked corner kick.
07:13Chevalier makes the run to the near post.
07:16And Esselink, well, he manages to lose his marker in that cluster of bodies.
07:22And he runs completely unmarked to head in.
07:34Stevenson, it's a yard away from Carlsen.
07:44Almost a third, as Dolceic denied by Mitov.
07:53Well, United's tail is most certainly up now.
07:57And Dolceic, this time on the left foot, brings out the save from Mitov.
08:04Danger not yet over.
08:21There's a blistering effort into the side netting.
08:28Kereshtes trying his luck, and why not?
08:32Opened up for him.
08:34Half a yard wide.
08:37And it feels like Jim Goodwin has told his United players that Aberdeen are there for the taking.
08:46And Van Dolceic.
08:49Right into the arms of Mitov that time.
08:52That's not allowed, and might even be a yellow card for Sapsford.
09:02Just a free kick.
09:03Worth a try, I suppose.
09:17He's giving away really slack from Aberdeen.
09:21Shevelia's going to try his luck.
09:23Wow, that was so close to the top corner.
09:27Oh, he knows it.
09:28And Aberdeen almost the architects of their own downfall, but Shevelia's effort is an absolute belter.
09:40Under-20 to play.
09:44Under-20 to play.
09:45It's fortunate for Aberdeen that it comes for Armstrong.
09:48And Yengi lays it back to Bilalovic.
09:51Armstrong will go for goal!
09:54Really unlucky for Armstrong.
09:57Carlsen now!
10:00And saved by Kucherenko.
10:04Stuart Armstrong.
10:06So close to our first Aberdeen goal.
10:10Well, some of the Aberdeen fans joining in with the cruel chants directed at Jimmy Tillin.
10:30Armstrong continues his run.
10:33Clips it to the back post, it's Carlsen.
10:36And the acrobatic finish.
10:37As it comes to Oshish, he just couldn't direct it on target.
10:51Eventually clicked right into the arms of Dimitar Mitov.
10:56Wasteful.
10:59Oshish has managed to squeeze that through.
11:02This is a chance for Aberdeen, it's Carlsen.
11:07Well, Aberdeen's finishing.
11:11Simply hasn't been good enough once more.
11:17The player of Jesper Carlsen's quality in pedigree.
11:21I feel he's got to be doing better than this.
11:24It's all over, Dundee United have the victory.
11:36For Aberdeen, the wait for a goal.
11:39The wait for a victory goes on in the league.
11:41And the former Aberdeen manager, Jim Goodwin, helps inflict more misery on his old club.
11:52Leading Dundee United up the table.
11:55But for that man, who knows what is next?
11:58I thought it was an excellent team performance from start to finish.
12:03In possession, really comfortable.
12:07Some great decision making in terms of when to rest on the ball, when to play forward.
12:12Some good switches of play.
12:14Scored a couple of very good goals from our perspective.
12:17A well-worked corner, something that we worked hard on yesterday in training.
12:21It's all about the delivery.
12:22Firstly, from Amar Fata.
12:24A great flick on from Sev Elgin.
12:25And then obviously Bert Esselink with the finish.
12:28And that kind of calmed everybody's nerves.
12:29But I thought we showed great resilience in the last ten minutes.
12:32Digging in when Aberdeen were throwing everything by the kitchen sink at us.
12:37Kutcherinkos had very little to do.
12:38I thought it was very comfortable.
12:40Do you still believe that you've got the players on your side?
12:44And that they are still buying into what you're trying to do?
12:49Yeah, after you see it today, it's trying, but we have to do it better as a team.
12:53Again, like under this pressure, we have to be more not so tense when we play football.
13:00You have to, you see the trying, but the tension is there.
13:02So now after the game, we talk about it.
13:05And now it's like, you see the frustration and the emotions among the fans after the game.
13:12And we feel exactly the same, but we can't, we have to be more composed when we play the games
13:16and turn this around and give them other performance and other results.
13:21How much longer can this kind of run continue or be allowed to continue?
13:26That's what I'm saying.
13:27We need to find answers quick.
13:29This is, they are fans to a football club, a really big club with a big history.
13:34And we have to find answers really quick now and turn this around as quick as possible.
13:39And the biggest chance we have to do it on Saturday.
13:41You said in your press conference yesterday that you'd spoken to the chairman and the chief executive
13:46and everyone's on the same page.
13:49If this run continues for much longer, are you almost preparing yourself for a tap on the shoulder
13:56to say, Jimmy, enough's enough?
13:58Right now I focus on Saturday.
14:00So another dreadful night for Jimmy Tallinn's Aberdeen.
14:04Dundee United, impressive once again.
14:07Next to the Falkirk Stadium, where the home side face Hibernian,
14:10who are vying with Dundee United for third spot.
14:13Country comes from Paul Mitchell.
14:15It's final to the local teams, Hilaria and Falkirk.
14:19Well, they finished water in the pitch just in time.
14:30Starring well has been a problem for Hebs.
14:32They've lost the opening goal in the last five matches across all competitions.
14:37While Falkirk have yet to score in the first half of any of the premiership matches on the return to the top flats.
14:43It's back-to-back home fixtures for Falkirk.
14:46They lost 2-1 against St. Budden last time out.
14:49On loan, Ethan Williams of Manchester United gets his first full start.
14:53He replaces Scott Arfield.
14:56Hebs lost at Ibrox in the Premier Sports Cup quarterfinal.
15:00Goalkeeper Raphael Salinger keeps his place to make his first premiership start.
15:05Two outfield changes by David Gray.
15:07And Leon Leavitt give way to O'Horah and Bar-Laser.
15:16Jair McGrath loses out.
15:19Here's Calvin Miller.
15:21Inside the cover, that's Bar-Laser.
15:25Tell you what, it's a decent cross.
15:26It's knocked down.
15:27Chance for the opener.
15:28It's a brilliant save.
15:29Williams almost scored.
15:31McKeever knocked it down.
15:33And Salinger has worked to do.
15:36Great play from Calvin Miller.
15:37Lofted it up.
15:39There's the clever header back.
15:41And that's a fine save.
15:48It's struggling to beat the ball away.
15:50Spencer plays it in.
15:51McKeever!
15:52Again, goalkeeper busy.
15:54Makes the save.
15:57First two chances of the match have gone the way of the home side.
16:00And it's required two saves from Raphael Salinger.
16:07It was nice they worked.
16:08Only Falkirk once they got hold of it.
16:10Boyle, a few players on the field that scored in this fixture in December 2015.
16:21Looking for another pop here.
16:23Well blocked by Spencer.
16:27Cadden up against Adams.
16:30That's brilliantly done.
16:31Nicky Cadden drives it in.
16:33And it's turned behind.
16:34Well, he got the better of Adams.
16:36There's plenty of cover.
16:39Nielsen and Henderson back in there.
16:41Inside that six-yard box.
16:44It's a good turn away.
16:48Another.
16:48Spencer will get there.
16:52And Hibbs will gather.
16:54Jeremy McGrath.
16:56Might open up for Boyle.
16:57Boyle is away from Nielsen.
16:59Mark Boyle.
17:00Bain with a save.
17:05Nielsen just didn't fall for it.
17:07Mark Boyle stepped on the inside.
17:09Scott Bain.
17:10Not going to make the save, but he managed to get the ball.
17:13Out of the area as well.
17:14Away from Danger.
17:15Again, the pressure from Hibbs.
17:19Boyle wins it well.
17:20McGrath.
17:21Cadden.
17:23Falkirk stretched.
17:25The low shot from Cadden.
17:27A little bit too easy.
17:29Much more frustration of Cullenberry.
17:39Again, it's messed up.
17:41But I have no idea why Falkirk were trying to play out like that.
17:46Boyle put the pressure on.
17:47Burry got the shot away.
17:52Well, it was played short.
17:54On to Nielsen.
17:54And look at the closing down here.
17:57It's brilliantly done.
17:58Shower raced forward to create the opportunity.
18:03And Scott Bain had to make the save.
18:05Jordan Obita.
18:06Long throw that is so back in vogue now.
18:14Short for handball, but Shulak just played up against Williams.
18:18To the middle it goes.
18:18Bowie tried to get the touch to turn.
18:20He was headed away by McKeever.
18:27There's nothing Ethan Williams could have done there.
18:30I mean, if you're getting a football that's coming towards you that's being leathered like that,
18:40you are going to react like that.
18:41It is natural.
18:42Oh, not for me.
18:52But referee Callum Scott says penalty.
18:54Williams comes out.
18:57Closes down.
18:58Cadden plays it in.
19:00It does strike off the arm.
19:02And referee Callum Scott points to the spot.
19:06Well, what a gear for Scott Bain.
19:07December 2015, the last time Martin Boyle celebrated a goal for Hibbs against Falkirk.
19:16Is that about to change?
19:19Boyle v Bain.
19:21Boyle.
19:21Bain got a hand to it.
19:23Couldn't keep it out.
19:25Hibbs celebrate.
19:25They take the lead.
19:28Penalty will be seen by some as controversial.
19:32At the end of the day, it's in the back of that.
19:34And Martin Boyle, where the goalkeeper went the right way.
19:38But it had enough placement, surveyed Scott Bain.
19:431-0 Hibbs.
19:50Cartwright is beaten.
19:51Hibbs coming forward.
19:53Great play by McGrath.
19:54On to Boyle.
19:55Back into the middle.
19:56Chancellor Bury blocked.
19:58Here's McGrath.
19:59He's got a lovely touch.
20:03Well, he was the driving force behind the move.
20:06And he's the driving force behind the finish.
20:10Jamie McGrath scores for the second time in three matches.
20:14Scores in back-to-back league games.
20:16And Hibbs have doubled the lead before half-time.
20:22Definitely onside.
20:24Boyle played it across.
20:26That wee shot was blocked by Adams, but he poked it back.
20:29That's terrific football from Jamie McGrath.
20:34Scott Bain could do absolutely nothing but watch.
20:39Falkirk still haven't found the net in the first half of any of the top-flight matches this season.
20:46Scott Arfield was the last Falkirk player to score in the first half of the top-flight game for Falkirk.
20:53Can that change here?
20:54It can!
20:58Ross McIver brings Falkirk back into the game.
21:03Right on the stroke of half-time.
21:05Well, they've already got a good understanding.
21:09You can see Williams looking for it.
21:11He took the touch.
21:13Cracked it across.
21:14Slight deflection.
21:16And centre-forwards love goals like this.
21:19Falkirk get on the score sheet in the first half for the first time.
21:27After a highly entertaining first half underway at the start of the second.
21:34Falkirk have won one of the last five games.
21:37That was the one that looked deterred.
21:39It's no wins in their last five.
21:41And they do have the lead.
21:46Boyle.
21:48Barry.
21:48Tries to get it back to Boyle.
21:50That's a penalty.
21:52It's offside though.
21:58Boyle on the inside.
21:59Yeah, clearly offside.
22:02Played it back in.
22:04Came across.
22:05There was the tug.
22:08It was really expectant.
22:09Tug denied.
22:12I've been enjoying having a top-flight football back round these bars.
22:16Enjoying it even more.
22:18I know.
22:19I have a bit of concern.
22:19I think you can conjure something up.
22:23Plus comes in.
22:24There is the header.
22:25And there is the equaliser.
22:26Liam Henderson, beautiful goal into the corner, it's his first goal of the season, and the
22:37Edinburgh-born boy makes it two apiece against the Edinburgh club, Williams cross, that's
22:44a terrific header, moving away from goal and planting it right into the bottom corner,
22:52fabulous header, and Falkirk and Hibbs are level at two apiece.
23:00McCann, he'll be lucky if he's not booked for that, Mulligan comes through,
23:06the referee again, a loud play to continue, Miller, lovely footwork, Spencer, Williams,
23:15Miller is offside, he should leave that, and he's done so, McKeever takes the touch,
23:22comes inside, goalkeeper made the save, O'Hara was in a little bit of trouble there,
23:28it was a really good run, both these teams are not settling for anything,
23:35Miller realised that he would have been offside, this is good centre-forward play.
23:44Well, if you're two down in a game, you come back to two apiece, sometimes you feel like
23:50it's a victory, Falkirk, no more than that, they want the actual victory.
23:57Brian Graham, back in the top flight, looking good on it, Williams once more, Williams,
24:11back onto that left foot, Williams picked up a reflection,
24:22not what he wanted, it's all over at the Falkirk Stadium, great entertainment,
24:39Williams might feel they should have had the game put away, having led 2-0,
24:44but a great fight back from Falkirk, rollicking entertainment, it's finished Falkirk 2,
24:50hips 2.
24:55David, you leave here with a point, does it feel like a defeat though in some ways?
24:59I don't think defeat's the right thing to say, I think we've dropped two points for the position
25:04we found ourselves in in the game, probably the feeling's more anger than anything else
25:09because of the situation I find myself repeating, this scenario we've been in already this season,
25:14so not shying away from it at all, we turned it over too many times which then gave them a lift,
25:19the momentum started to swing towards Falkirk, they then get the second goal from a set piece,
25:23which we already talked about and worked on, which is inexcusable and from then,
25:29probably the team that was more likely to score with the way the momentum shifted was probably Falkirk,
25:33so I then have to look at it and say we've got a point away from home,
25:38it feels like two points dropped because we found ourselves 2-0 up but actually we were lucky to get a point
25:42and that's the way that it was definitely a game of two halves.
25:44How concerned were you when Hibbs went 2-0 up in fact, because at that point the game could easily have ran away from you?
25:49It probably would have done for most teams but not this team because they've got such a spirit
25:54and yeah the place was rocking, the Falkirk fans have been amazing, absolutely amazing tonight,
26:00anyone who came along here for the first time, we would have been very very impressed with the way the fans have backed the team
26:06and the way the team have played, so yeah you would have been concerned because a new team coming up from the championship,
26:142-0 down to Hibbs, yeah that can turn into 3-4 but I've been loyal to these guys and they've been loyal to myself and the club
26:24and they worked their way back into the game and scored a really good goal and I think on the basis of the second half I think we deserve it,
26:31it's a great header by Liam Henderson, he knows he's going to hit that into the goal,
26:37he's seen the ball come around and he's been aggressive and going to tackle really really well.
26:41After all that the William Hill Premiership table looks like this,
26:44Zeltican Hearts out in front, Dundee United third on eight points, Hibbs fourth on seven.
26:51The grim start continues for Aberdeen, bottom of the table with just one point from five games and no goals scored.
27:00It's the Scottish Cup first round this weekend and we bring you the mother of all rivalries on Friday,
27:06Auchinleck Talbot versus Cumnick Juniors makes Celtic versus Rangers look like a Sunday school picnic.
27:12Join us at half past seven on BBC Scotland.
27:15All the Premiership highlights on Saturday and Sunday.
27:18We're live in the SWPL on Sunday as well as Rangers take on Glasgow City.
27:23And all the highlights Monday night at half past seven.
27:27But for now from all of us on the sports team team, good night.
27:30But I'm sitting on this fly right now, staring at the door and I'm just wondering how I'm unlocking and dropping.
27:36I know that I'll be sure of the fog and feel something before I'm feeling at the floor and now I'm sitting on this fly right now.
27:44Staring at the door and I'm just wondering how I'm unlocking and dropping.
27:48I know that I'll be sure if I'll be through something before I'm feeling at the floor
27:52And now I'm sitting on this fire right now
