00:01I've heard Peter Huston referencing that fabulous Dundee United side in the 1980s.
00:08The Scottish Cup eluded even the great Jim McLean though.
00:12The league title in 82-83, the league cup in back-to-back seasons in 80 and 81,
00:17reaching the UEFA Cup final in 87.
00:20The two legs of which were played either side of that season's Scottish Cup final,
00:24which they lost to St Mirren.
00:26And the likes of Mo Malpass and McLean himself felt that the defeat at Hampden
00:33deflated them to the point that they couldn't get past Gothenburg in that final.
00:38Ian Ferguson's goal beat them.
00:41Golatz and Huston eventually got the old trophy in the Tannadice cabinet.
00:47And they are behind here in this quarterfinal.
00:50Falkirk have only been beyond round five twice since they reached that 2015 show.
00:56We saw the goals from during the interval there.
01:02Well, they have over the course of the last 17 years been to the quarterfinals five times.
01:09Four semis, two finals.
01:13Scottish Cup pedigree.
01:17So, no changes for the start of the second half, though, as we know, Dundee United.
01:22First to take off, Trapanovsky, Eskisson came on, and they've got renewed belief now, James.
01:27As they get a corner early in the second half, that they come right back off the floor.
01:32Yeah, and they have to.
01:33I mean, that goal's giving them all the belief they need.
01:36But it's OK saying that.
01:38And Jim Goodwin having his say at half-time, which I'm sure they'd have been unhappy about that first half.
01:43But they have to go out and deliver in the second half, Dundee United.
01:46Eskisson looks like he's fired up for it anyway.
01:51It could be a happy accident that Dina had to come on in that first half.
01:57It's his out-swinging corner.
02:00Graeme's header.
02:03By Donaldson.
02:05Dina's on to it.
02:06But there's no doubt that that goal at the end of the first half will have sown the seeds of
02:10doubt in Falkirk Mines now.
02:12Yeah, you would imagine so.
02:14It's either that or, to put it down to it, must do better.
02:18John McGlynn won't be happy, they've conceded.
02:21But he's got to be happy with the performance levels of his team.
02:24And I think the demand will be the exact same.
02:27Start bright, get control of the game.
02:29Be that threat going forward.
02:32Continue the work rate.
02:33Don't allow any encouragement to Dundee United to come into it in the second half.
02:39Dundee United have to try and get closer to Falkirk.
02:41They have to be more solid.
02:44They have to have more energy, more intent to go forward.
02:48To Falkirk under pressure.
02:52To all intents and purposes, a lot of pressure off Falkirk.
02:55Given they will finish in the top six, it's effectively guaranteed now unless there's a bit of a collapse before
03:02the split in the Premiership.
03:05And that means, once that's secured, it will guarantee them their highest league placing in the Scottish football ladder since
03:121994-95 when they finished fifth in a ten-team top flight.
03:20G8 clearly won the ball.
03:22He's plenty of the man as well, seemingly.
03:30It's going to be a right battle now.
03:35Strap yourselves in going by the opening few minutes in the second half.
03:39Yeah, I mean, in terms of the energy and the willingness to get it forward, it has been better from
03:45Dundee United.
03:45I know we're only three minutes into the second half, but just not competitive at all.
03:50But I think Eskisson's got that energy, that he wants to be busy, he wants to have an impact.
03:55Of course, he'll be lifted by the fact he's scored, but having just that willingness to go in behind, get
04:01up in support of Sartford and Waters.
04:26You can see it looks more like a 3-5-2 for Dundee United, as opposed to the 3-4
04:31-3.
04:32Eskisson dropping a bit deeper in midfield, Kamara dropping, going a bit forward as he is the one that's sitting,
04:39and I think that's a smart move.
04:42That's a lovely touch.
04:49Looks real talent, Ben Brodgeo, over on that far side.
04:57There's Luka Stevenson.
05:02There's renewed vigour.
05:05In the Stundee United team, by the looks of this, in the infancy of the second half.
05:13And you football people, James, do say it's a good time to score a goal.
05:17Yeah, good time to score, and you've got that 2-0 scoreline that you turn into 2-1, and you
05:23know that
05:24the team you're playing against go from that comfort to knowing that the next goal totally
05:29transforms the game, and swing, the momentum can swing so quickly.
05:36Especially when you're off a goal, look at this, Samson from Plotter, a better touch, he's in.
05:42How let down that was.
05:45Yeah, but the link-up is there.
05:47At least they're getting close to each other, they're playing forward passes, they're running forward.
05:51It's a heavy touch.
05:52I think that it's a good move from Jim Goodwin to put them closer together.
06:0912 goals in two and a half games between these two here this season.
06:13Plenty more to come potentially.
06:17Optimistic appeal for a handball in the box there.
06:21It's going to be a corner.
06:23How things can change.
06:26Five minutes before the half-time they were booing, five minutes after, they're cheering.
06:31And that is just by, you know, more energy in the team, more entangled bodies forward,
06:37force of all kind of defending.
06:38This was the potential handball that they were shouting for.
06:45You can see why they were.
06:47It's going to have Barney Stewart there.
06:51Two United players went for it at the same time.
06:55Chevy and Adjie.
06:58Again, first half, that's the Fulker player that's winning,
07:00and at least it's two players that are in the position to go and attack and get on the end
07:05of it.
07:05It's a bit of frustration to have that you're getting in each other's way rather than being close to it,
07:10not being close enough to each other.
07:23Six major finals in their history, five in this tournament.
07:33Long gap between the one and the last Scottish Cup in the defeat to Colmarnock in 1997 at Ibrox.
07:43And Alec Totten.
07:47Most of the Rangers in 2009, Cali Thistle in 2015.
07:58They've been there or thereabouts over the course of the last three decades, now and again.
08:08United are making this a battle again, though.
08:13Camara and Deferri.
08:30It's a good recovery by Eskisson, because he did slip and ended a potential attack a moment ago.
08:38It's a cool Chevy.
08:52Fulker going in their shell a little bit.
08:54Yeah, I think they're the United of Sartre Brightly.
08:56They've got more bodies forward.
08:59They've beefed up the midfield slightly.
09:01I know Eskisson's probably tasked with getting forward more,
09:05but it's certainly stopping those balls going through.
09:07And we've seen a couple of slack passes, maybe rushed passes from Fulker that we didn't see in the first
09:13half.
09:14But there's definitely been a reaction, done the United side.
09:34It's got coolly done.
09:36Actually, they are by Dylan Tate.
09:43We've certainly been given some food for thought.
09:48It must have been so comfortable for, what, 45 and a half minutes?
09:54Yeah.
09:55I mean, that one moment for Dundee United.
10:00We've been talking about Jim Goodwin's team talk change.
10:04John McLean's team talk would have changed for that as well,
10:07because he mentioned it, the old cliche, scoring before half-time,
10:11that 2-0 lead and what it means when it gets cut down to one.
10:17The psychology of it.
10:20They're looking for...
10:22It's a beautiful ball by Aji, you know, Fulker trying to profit from it.
10:30Miller, Spencer...
10:33Yates back out to McCann.
10:39A little loose ball has caused this.
10:42Is that going to be a freak out?
10:44No, Stephen McLean shakes his head.
10:54He's in a hurry.
10:58Eskison.
10:59Back heel there was the right idea.
11:03Definitely wasn't.
11:04No, Fulker was advancing out left-hand side.
11:07Strange.
11:09Calvin Miller.
11:12Taking on Chevy.
11:14Another excellent cross.
11:18This is the kind of encouragement Jim Goodwin will not want his players to be offering Fulker.
11:23With waters, though.
11:24Sabsford made a brilliant run in the middle.
11:26He's on to it!
11:27And Bain keeps him out.
11:32Huge chance for an equaliser.
11:37And it's a huge save.
11:38Scott Bain question marks over the goal he conceded.
11:41It's a brilliant break.
11:43Waters and Sabsford linking up.
11:44Something they didn't do very well in the first half.
11:47And Scott Bain coming out.
11:48Closing the angle.
11:49Making himself big.
11:50You always look at the striker and say you expect him to score.
11:53But full credit to Scott Bain.
11:55Keeps his side in the lead.
11:57Making up for that.
11:59Goal that he conceded in the first half.
12:03Bit of a little wobble last time United were here during that 3-2 defeat.
12:08One of the goals.
12:11Who's to blame for that United goal at the end of the first half?
12:16He's made a bit of amends there.
12:22It comes from a Fulker cross.
12:24And Dundee United managed to hit them back on the count.
12:26That's something they didn't do in the first half.
12:28In from Ferry.
12:31It comes back the lead.
12:33It's been an effort goal.
12:35There's an option there.
12:39Not quite sure why it's been headed back across.
12:41I mean, I just expect him to head towards goal there.
12:46You need to see how close he is to the line.
12:48But he's in space.
12:51I couldn't believe it came back the way.
12:53I mean, he's obviously at a relatively tight angle.
12:55He must be, but...
12:57I just can't believe that wasn't an attempt to goal there.
13:01A little look at one or two things there.
13:04The VAR team looks as though they're happy with whatever it was they were checking.
13:09But it's another opportunity.
13:11And United have started this second half really well.
13:13Yeah, I mean, seeing it again there, angle isn't great.
13:16But even if you're not going for goal, it needs to come back across goal.
13:20It can't come back the way you look at the amount of Dundee United players that are in.
13:23And around Scott Bain in that six-yard box.
13:27But you're right, Dundee United have really started aggressively this second half.
13:32Tim Goodwin's got the desired response from his half-time team talk.
13:37And I think the little tweak puts Attsford and Waters closer together.
13:41It certainly allows that opportunity to catch, to break on Falkirk,
13:46to then put them under pressure.
13:48It means they can either hold it in, flick it on for the runner,
13:51they can make the runs up the channels themselves.
13:53And when they do that, they're going 1v1 with a centre-back.
13:56Then allows Dundee United, a team, to get up the pitch.
14:01Ferry again.
14:06Again, the ball in the Falkirk docks on a regular basis right now.
14:14They are, and as much as Falkirk are defending it,
14:16they aren't able to get control of the ball.
14:19It's clear in season, Dundee United managing to maintain the attack.
14:23Falkirk, McCann for Stewart, for Miller.
14:30Heavy touch there allowed, Kamara to pitch it back.
14:35Here goes Max Waters.
14:49Falkirk, another team, now need to compose themselves
14:52and find a way to get them control of this game again.
15:08Here goes again.
15:16Let's kiss it back to Ferry.
15:20Sapsford trying desperately to get on to that.
15:23Falkirk, Falkirk, Bundle it away.
15:25Here's McCann.
15:30Miller.
15:34Spencer to McCann.
15:49Miller.
15:52To Tate, and I guess for John McElhinney,
15:56I want his players to somehow manage to get back to doing what they were doing.
16:00They were doing perfectly well for most of that first half.
16:04Stewart trying to hold off his man.
16:09Spencer.
16:11And the GE is on to it.
16:12And now it's with Sapsford.
16:15Challenged by Spencer.
16:23He's going for the ball, but...
16:27Could have been a sore one for the United midfielder.
16:29Yeah, I mean, Steve McLean's right there, and he can see that for exactly what it is.
16:34But, when it comes back to me, he just lashes it out of the pitch.
16:37I don't even know if he's trying to put the ball for the diagonal,
16:42but he just lashes out of the pitch.
16:43I don't know if he was kicking it out because
16:45Joe Adjie was needing a bit of attention.
16:49Adjie are fouled.
16:50It's yellow.
16:55And Kamara is booked.
16:58And he joins Chevy.
17:02Steering McLean's boot.
17:04Yeah, I mean, it's clear.
17:06Stopping a promising attack.
17:08He does just copy seals, whether it's accidental or not.
17:12Brodiel gets beyond him.
17:14He's got three teammates in advanced positions.
17:23It's a period of calm amidst the storm for Falkirk, this.
17:30Since the turnaround has been a little bit backs to the wall.
17:37Here's Brodiel.
17:43And McCann.
17:48It's going to go for a corner.
17:51Yeah, it's been a better period for Falkirk, no doubt.
17:54Dundee United started really well, aggressive.
17:57Falkirk, I think you just...
17:59A few minutes ago, Brad Spencer's telling his teammates
18:02to calm it down a little bit, play a few passes,
18:05and see that that's having a positive impact on them.
18:09Do what they were doing, exactly.
18:10But, look, they would have expected Dundee United
18:13to come out flying this second half.
18:19Calvin Miller's corner.
18:21It's another good ball.
18:25He's charged down from Brodiel.
18:28Miller.
18:32Some of the crosses in the box from Falkirk tonight
18:35have been on point.
18:53McCann, who's been responsible for a few of them.
19:12Missunderstanding.
19:15Brodiel bringing it away, bring it back in quick time.
19:18Spencer can find Yates.
19:23It's Kamara.
19:30Lisa picks up the loose ball.
19:46He wasn't expecting this stress.
19:51He's having a nice, quiet evening,
19:54watching his team play some great football,
19:56and suddenly they're in the trenches.
20:00Yeah, I mean, he's well aware
20:03of how quick things can change.
20:06It doesn't have to be quality.
20:10Especially if football can change in an instant.
20:12He would have been ready for this response from Dundee United.
20:16Probably the most overused phrase in post-match interviews
20:19from pundits is goals change games.
20:23But they do.
20:24Yeah, absolutely.
20:25I think that certainly for Jim Goodwin there,
20:28he's massively changed his team's performance levels
20:33as well as the little tweak he's made at half-time.
20:36And certainly I would imagine he had a few choice words
20:38for every one of these players
20:40because none of them turned up in that first half.
20:47Dundee United about to bring on Johnny Russell.
20:54He's just returned to the club
20:57after all that time away.
21:00His debut second time around against St. Merrin on Tuesday.
21:07The game's coming thick and fast for United.
21:13Is that a push by Saks from Fulker?
21:15I certainly think so.
21:16Lisanne got it back to Bain.
21:20Yeah, it looked like it.
21:22Whether it's enough.
21:24Maybe it's just the timing.
21:29It's Donaldson off the balance.
21:31Not sure, though.
21:32I guess they're just mopping up for them.
21:35But they have really turned us into a battle, Dundee United.
21:40You can Fulkerk, Miller,
21:43corner.
21:47He's reaching from one end to the other right now.
21:50Yeah, and as much as Fulkerk have the lead
21:53and probably suits Dundee United
21:56because you expect it,
21:58they'll be looking to get that opportunity
22:00to get Waters or Sartford clear.
22:12Better the last five, ten minutes for the Bairns.
22:19Miller.
22:20Miller.
22:20I mean, our Brewer.
22:22It's a punch on that.
22:26Sprat Spencer.
22:32My Ferry this time.
22:36Iskisson.
22:38Forward it goes
22:39and United trying to spring Fulkerk here.
22:41Ferry.
22:43The check is run.
22:48There's Sapsford.
22:49Fulkerk wanting a free kick there.
22:51Sapsford plays it way too close to Bain.
22:54That's really poor from Sapsford.
22:56I mean, he's in space.
22:58He is trying to just clip it into an area
22:59but he needs to take more care.
23:02Comfortable
23:03for Scott Bain
23:05and a decent opportunity
23:06for Dundee United to get a ball in the box.
23:24Yes.
23:25It's called right now
23:26separating these two.
23:30McCann.
23:31Oh, that's awkward.
23:33Could have been.
23:34Made up here.
23:35He's happy to see it go over.
23:38I don't like it to see it go over
23:39because McCann's just trying to
23:41whack that
23:41and then so
23:43comes off his foot
23:44but
23:44at the top of his foot
23:46and he could have went anywhere.
23:48There he is.
23:51Familiar figure
23:52of Johnny Russell
23:54back after 13 years away.
23:59United States for
24:02a big part of that.
24:05Six years at Sporting Kansas City
24:07scored 67 goals
24:08in 230-odd appearances.
24:11Loads of assists as well.
24:12former Scotland international.
24:17Of course
24:18part of the
24:20Scotland squadron James
24:21was there with
24:22Alan MacLeese and Peter Grant.
24:25He's on to it here.
24:27Immediately involved.
24:28That's clever.
24:29and that
24:31has stayed out.
24:35And quite how
24:36we don't know yet.
24:39It looked for all the money
24:40that Zach Sapsford
24:41had squared the Scottish Cup tie.
24:44Falkirk
24:45still
24:46lead
24:46and James to my right
24:48is stunned.
24:49I can't believe he's missed it.
24:52Outstanding
24:52from Johnny Russell.
24:53What an impact.
24:55What an impact.
25:01Well I'm ready to call
25:02a goal there.
25:03Yeah
25:03I mean
25:04you're expecting that
25:05just to hit off the post
25:06and see the net
25:07ripple.
25:12That's a bit of a
25:12wake up call
25:13for Falkirk.
25:17And a let off.
25:20It's marvellous
25:21in Johnny Russell.
25:23Here's Miller
25:24and that
25:25effort
25:26which has just
25:26squirmed past.
25:28the far post
25:29you can see
25:30what he's trying
25:30to do there.
25:31As he arched that
25:33for the left side
25:33of the goal frame.
25:35Yeah
25:35it's a great little turn.
25:36Just opens up for him
25:37again
25:37just doesn't wrap
25:38his foot round it
25:39quite enough
25:40and
25:40this little touch here
25:41excellent from
25:42Johnny Russell.
25:43Sapsford
25:43great movement.
25:46He doesn't catch it
25:47clean enough.
25:49Comes off his heel
25:51sometimes
25:52when he looks in
25:53that just creeps
25:54inside the post.
25:55Nine times out of ten
25:55that's in the net.
25:57Absolutely.
25:57Scott Bain
25:59probably the most
26:00relieved man in here
26:01just to see that
26:03come right back
26:03into his hands.
26:06Johnny Russell
26:06showing his quality
26:08in the first instance
26:10then
26:10the awareness
26:11and the little flick
26:13outstanding from him.
26:16If that chance
26:17had fallen to
26:18Johnny Russell
26:18in the back of the net
26:19no doubt of that.
26:24excellent first half
26:26of the season
26:26Sapsford
26:27he's not scored
26:27since the 30th
26:28of December
26:29though
26:31he
26:31netted at
26:32Ammonvale
26:33in a 3-1 win
26:34over Livingston
26:40how important
26:41how important
26:41is that going to
26:42prove to be
26:42because we're
26:43into the final
26:4419 minutes
26:45now in the 90
26:54Johnny Russell
26:55returns 36
26:56in April
26:56still got it
26:57you see that
27:01I'm scoring in a
27:04famous United victory
27:05over Rangers
27:06and Ibrox
27:08in this tournament
27:13it's been played
27:14by Stevenson
27:15to win it back
27:16for United
27:17across it comes
27:18away by Donaldson
27:22here's Kamara
27:27and Chevy
27:28a bit more
27:32height in that
27:32back in from
27:34the creation
27:34with the beans
27:35all night long
27:38Falkirk's lead
27:38surviving
27:41I mean
27:42you've mentioned
27:43how well
27:44are certainly
27:45the contrasts
27:46from the first
27:46to second half
27:47under the 90
27:47but
27:48you must believe
27:49they can go
27:50and get that
27:50equaliser
27:52win this time
27:53put themselves
27:54into the next round
27:58because they don't
27:59have the same
28:00feel
28:00Falkirk have the
28:01same zip
28:02the same
28:03threat going
28:04forward
28:04and oh
28:04Calvin Miller's
28:05not long
28:06had a sight
28:07at goal
28:07but they just
28:09haven't really
28:09had as much
28:10control in this
28:11second half
28:11and credit
28:12Dundee United
28:13for that
28:13expect changes
28:15for Falkirk
28:16imminently
28:36there's Miller
28:38there's Miller
28:40from Camara
28:40from Camara
28:41from Camara
28:44and Chevy
28:44Kyro Wilson
28:45I think is coming
28:46on for Falkirk
28:49next
28:51minute or so
28:54Miller
28:55becoming more and more
28:56prevalent proceedings
29:00take to Lisa
29:05there's been a revelation
29:08for Falkirk
29:10Miller
29:12flip towards
29:13going
29:13might well be
29:14good wide
29:14anyway
29:15but
29:16don't buy
29:17Kadesh
29:18dash
29:18didn't know
29:23that
29:24Stewart
29:27keepers
29:29the one thing
29:30you'd have to say
29:31is that Jim Goodwin
29:32after 20 minutes of this
29:33when we're 2-0 down
29:35if someone had said to him
29:36right well
29:36would you
29:37like this to still be
29:38the melting pot
29:39going into the last
29:4015-16 minutes
29:42even if you're still behind
29:44he would have taken
29:44out of that point
29:45because it looked like
29:46United were going to
29:46get swept away
29:47absolutely
29:49it did
29:49Falkirk
29:51really good in the first half
29:52and
29:53sort of spot on
29:54if he did
29:54offered him a chance
29:56to still be in it
29:58coming into the last
29:5915 minutes or so
30:00of the game
30:01he would have
30:02absolutely taken it
30:03but he still
30:04wants more
30:05from his team
30:07yellow for Spencer
30:10the hook
30:11for Brogio
30:14and on
30:15comes
30:16Kyrell
30:17Wilson
30:41coming on
30:42there
30:42is
30:43from Swansea
30:48as of course
30:49Philippe
30:50is
30:50I think
30:54Dundee
30:54United
30:54are going to
30:56make another
30:56change
30:57Ivan Dolchek
30:58who
30:59began the season
31:00on fire
31:00he fell away
31:02and looked like
31:03he was completely
31:03out of the picture
31:06even as recently
31:07as last month
31:08but he's
31:10has had
31:12injury problems
31:13as well
31:13along the way
31:14but
31:15looked like
31:16he was going
31:16to be one of
31:17the stars
31:17of the season
31:17in August
31:18and September
31:19yeah he was
31:20on fire
31:20at the start
31:21of the season
31:23for whatever reason
31:24where there is
31:25injury confidence
31:27certainly
31:28near the levels
31:29of short
31:30there was going
31:33to be another one
31:34for Jim Goodwin
31:35to go and
31:36I thought
31:37I needed
31:37to get the deal
31:38done permanently
31:39and make a lot
31:40of money on him
31:41because of the
31:41impact that he had
31:42but just hasn't
31:43been able to
31:43find that form
31:44as yet
31:45again for the
31:46latter part
31:47of the season
31:51which Kamara
31:52might be the one
31:53to come off
31:54Russell for Stevenson
31:58slip from Ferry
32:01to Haibu
32:04and apologies
32:06swiftly issued
32:07by Emmanuel
32:07Ady
32:08yeah again
32:09right in front
32:10of Steve McLean
32:11totally accidental
32:12I think he kicks
32:13him across the chest
32:14which doesn't
32:15sound great
32:15but only eyes
32:17for the ball
32:22Stuart taking
32:23a sore one
32:23don't know why
32:24he's holding
32:24his face
32:25it's nowhere near
32:25it
32:28so
32:31off comes
32:32Kamara
32:37come on
32:41well no better
32:42time to find
32:42your form again
32:44well he scored
32:45five in his first
32:46ten appearances
32:47but he hasn't
32:48found the net
32:50since the 23rd
32:51of September
32:53he scored
32:53in a 2-0 win
32:54over Aberdeen
32:57Ivan Dolceck
33:00Ivan Dolceck
33:00as James was saying
33:01he can even force
33:03this tie to extra
33:04time
33:06he'll have
33:08produced
33:09for his manager
33:13however
33:15clock
33:15is
33:16ticking
33:18here's Tate
33:23it's such an open
33:24tournament now
33:25isn't it
33:25when you consider
33:26one of the Glasgow
33:27teams
33:27I see one of the Glasgow
33:29teams
33:29there's
33:29Partick Thistle
33:30still involved in it
33:31but thinking of the
33:32Derby
33:32Ibrox and Sunday
33:34Thistle
33:34all want to
33:35get past
33:36St Mirren
33:37of course
33:37but with Rangers
33:38or Celtic
33:38going out
33:39Parts, Hibbs
33:40and Motherwell
33:41all out already
33:42it's opened up
33:44for teams
33:45like these two
33:45yeah
33:46I think every
33:47team in the
33:48competition
33:49I think that
33:51you throw
33:52Dumpferlman
33:52and Partick Thistle
33:53into the
33:54equation
33:55it certainly has
33:57because
33:57as you say
33:58you're used to
33:59seeing Celtic
34:00Rangers being there
34:02and the team
34:03the teams
34:04that you want
34:05to avoid
34:05but one of them
34:06is going to have
34:07to go out
34:07listen
34:08everyone
34:10during Cup
34:10draws
34:11he doesn't
34:11support Rangers
34:12or Celtic
34:13wants them
34:13to be drawn
34:14against each
34:15other
34:15I think
34:16when you
34:16mentioned
34:17as well
34:17Harsin
34:18Hibbs
34:18you know
34:18Motherwell
34:20here come
34:21Falkirk
34:21it's Miller
34:22me and our
34:23Brewer
34:23just just
34:24enough
34:26and
34:28shades
34:28really
34:29of the
34:31goal
34:31in the
34:31first half
34:32when he
34:32the opener
34:34for Stewart
34:34there
34:35when Stewart
34:35got in
34:36on the rebound
34:38here's Miller
34:40tormenting
34:41Chevy
34:43you're expecting
34:44a lot more
34:45from Miller
34:45in that
34:46kind of
34:46position
34:47but they've
34:47set such
34:48high standards
34:49this season
34:50we are knocking
34:51on the final
34:5210 minutes
34:52of the 90
34:53here
34:54and Dundee
34:54United
34:55are steering
34:55at the
34:56Scottish Cup
34:56exit
34:58yeah they
34:59are
34:59I was
35:01worried
35:02that
35:02you know
35:03with Dolce
35:04coming on
35:04and Russell
35:04going through
35:05the middle
35:07it looked like
35:08they were going
35:08back to the
35:083-4-3
35:09but it's a
35:094-3-3
35:10at the point
35:10so they are
35:11rolling the dice
35:12Jim Goodwin
35:13certainly
35:14trying to get
35:15more players
35:16forward
35:22after
35:24because it
35:25has got
35:25a bit
35:25scrappy
35:31struggling
35:31he's the
35:32man who's
35:33given
35:33United
35:34this
35:34hope
35:37goal right
35:38at the
35:38end of
35:38the first
35:39half
35:41Stewart
35:41and Yates
35:42at Falkirk
35:432-0
35:44up
35:47Dolce
35:48coming on
35:48trying to
35:49save the
35:49day
35:49did
35:49score
35:50here
35:52as
35:52Dundee
35:53United
35:53came from
35:54two down
35:55in the
35:56league
35:56meeting
35:57the
35:57opening
35:58weekend
35:58of the
35:59season
36:00can they
36:01repeat
36:01the
36:02trick
36:05Eskisson's
36:05complaining
36:06about the
36:06arm in the
36:07face there
36:07but I
36:08think
36:09Donaldson's
36:09starting to
36:11make his
36:11move to
36:11go and
36:12head the
36:12ball
36:12and he
36:12almost
36:13comes
36:13under
36:13it
36:15it's
36:16sore
36:16no doubt
36:16for him
36:17but I
36:18don't think
36:18there's
36:18any
36:18intent
36:19there
36:19from
36:19Donaldson
36:20I
36:20don't
36:20think
36:20it's
36:21a
36:21foul
36:22so he
36:23doesn't
36:23really have
36:23too much
36:24to complain
36:24about
36:25other than
36:25it's
36:26really sore
36:27when you
36:28get hit
36:28in the
36:28nose
36:29it's
36:30mccann
36:33go check
36:38he's in a
36:39hurry
36:42he's in a
36:57hurry
37:03it's
37:03it's
37:04been a
37:04great competition
37:04for
37:05falkirk
37:05recently
37:05they've
37:06only
37:06been
37:06beyond
37:06five
37:07twice
37:07since
37:08they
37:08reached
37:08the
37:08final
37:08in
37:092015
37:10another
37:11good ball
37:12comes in
37:12towards
37:12Barney
37:13Stewart
37:15Graham
37:16mops
37:16up
37:21they're
37:21one of
37:21the best
37:22teams in
37:22the league
37:22for the
37:23wide
37:23areas
37:23Falkirk
37:24and you're
37:24seeing it
37:24tonight
37:25it's
37:25been
37:25showcased
37:27yeah
37:27I mean
37:27real threat
37:29whether it's
37:29from the
37:30actual
37:30wingers
37:31or wide
37:31players
37:31fullbacks
37:32bottom
37:32and on
37:33crosses
37:33into the
37:34box
37:34are
37:34dangerous
37:34even
37:35the
37:35little
37:35bits
37:36of
37:36play
37:36they
37:37have
37:37they
37:37interchange
37:37a
37:38movement
37:44game's
37:44being
37:45played
37:45at the
37:45wrong
37:45end
37:45of
37:46the
37:46pitch
37:46of
37:46here
37:46are
37:46Dundee
37:47United
37:47fan
38:10just
38:11never
38:11know
38:11what's
38:11right
38:12the
38:12corner
38:12and
38:12this
38:13has
38:13been
38:14the most
38:14bonkers
38:14season
38:15that we
38:15can
38:15remember
38:16and
38:16what
38:16you
38:16mean
38:17that
38:17in
38:17the best
38:18possible
38:18way
38:18it's
38:19been
38:19incredible
38:20the
38:20drama
38:20and
38:21everything
38:21that's
38:22gone
38:22along
38:22with
38:22it
38:23the
38:23stories
38:23that
38:23are
38:23being
38:24written
38:24and
38:24there's
38:25still
38:25plenty
38:25more
38:26to
38:26be
38:26scribed
38:27in
38:27this
38:2825-26
38:29campaign
38:29absolutely
38:30oh
38:31there you
38:32go
38:32right on
38:33assistant
38:33referee
38:35it's
38:36not
38:36a
38:36great
38:36challenge
38:37by
38:37Kereshtes
38:37he's
38:38absolutely
38:39wiped
38:39out
38:39Douglas
38:40Ross
38:42and
38:43I'm
38:43afraid
38:45Mr
38:45Ross
38:46you're
38:46going to be
38:46seeing this
38:47back
38:47plenty
38:48I would
38:49imagine
38:54you'll be
38:55hoping
38:55there's not
38:55a better
38:55angle of
38:56that
38:56I'm
38:56sure
38:56there
38:57will
38:57be
38:57I
38:57wouldn't
38:58mind
38:58seeing
38:58it
38:58myself
39:05to be
39:06fair
39:06to be
39:06bounce
39:07straight
39:07back
39:08up
39:09players
39:10stay
39:10down
39:10longer
39:16doesn't
39:17matter
39:17who the
39:18official
39:18is
39:18it's
39:18always
39:19funny
39:19and the
39:19refs
39:20so the
39:20linesmen
39:21are
39:22wiped
39:23out
39:23like
39:23that
39:25definitely
39:25there's
39:26a little
39:26flinch
39:27before it
39:27he knows
39:27it's
39:28coming
39:29no way
39:30getting out
39:31of the
39:31way
39:31of it
39:35they
39:35they appear
39:36to have a
39:36better
39:36angle
39:37oh
39:42yellow card
39:43for simulation
39:48he's getting on
39:49with it
39:49now
39:56refocusing
39:57as the
39:57players
39:58will have
39:58to
39:58because we
39:59are at the
39:59business end
40:00of this
40:01Scottish
40:01cup quarter
40:18United can't get up the pitch
40:19now
40:20that's a real
40:20worry for them
40:21because Jim Goodwin
40:22would be hoping for a
40:22grandstand finish
40:23here
40:23he might still
40:24get that
40:25but they are
40:27almost exclusively
40:28having to play the game
40:29in their own half
40:29yeah
40:30and you were
40:31speaking about the
40:31bonkers
40:32season
40:33nature of the season
40:34we get distracted
40:35with Douglas Ross
40:36taking a dive there
40:37but I was going to say
40:39that
40:39Falkett was so good
40:40in the first half
40:41you did not see a
40:42Dundee United goal
40:43coming
40:43and it did
40:44and Dundee United
40:45have been better
40:46this second half
40:47so
40:48keep going
40:49keep hanging in there
40:51looking for that
40:52equaliser
40:52well bye
40:54Ferrier McCann
40:59getting very close
41:00to Hamden now
41:01the hosts
41:05just getting his body
41:06across
41:08quite happy
41:18can for Tate
41:22here's Miller
41:26he was
41:29not looking as though
41:31Barney Stewart was
41:32going to be able to get
41:32a shot in there
41:33but he's
41:33come quite close in the end
41:35yeah he has
41:37just
41:37right footed
41:38he gets there first
41:40he just
41:40I mean
41:41he does really well
41:42to get it
41:42to get anything on it
41:44but
41:46it would have to be
41:46something
41:48really special
41:48to find the back
41:49of the Met
41:49from there
41:50but at least he's
41:51on the move
41:51he's not really been
41:52involved this second half
41:54he's on the move
41:55hungry to go and get
41:56another goal for his side
42:02nearly there
42:07I mean this has been
42:08if he can get
42:08the job done here
42:10Falker
42:10it's been an absolute
42:11dream season for them
42:13so he'd said to
42:14John McGlynn
42:15at the start of the
42:16campaign
42:17that he'd finished
42:18in the top six
42:18of the Premiership
42:19and he reached
42:20the Scottish Cup
42:20semi-finals
42:21he would see that
42:22as a massive result
42:25absolutely
42:26I think that
42:27already this season
42:29you can see
42:29the expectation
42:31probably not
42:32from John McGlynn
42:33and his team
42:33because of the belief
42:34that they have
42:35but to come up
42:36straight up
42:38two seasons
42:39after playing
42:40in League One
42:40to then be a chance
42:42to get to a
42:42Scottish Cup
42:43semi-final
42:44and to have a real
42:45chance of winning
42:46the actual tournament
42:49Falker
42:49massive chances
42:50the match winner
42:51as it stands
42:52comes off
42:54Vinny Yates
42:56he's replaced
42:57by Henry Cartwright
42:59he's on loan
42:59from Leicester City
43:00and scored a
43:01wonderful goal
43:02here against Rangers
43:03and will prove
43:05to be Russell
43:05Martin's last game
43:06in charge
43:07at Ibrox
43:08you come Falker
43:09looking to finish
43:10it
43:11it's kept out
43:12initially
43:13and off the course
43:14from Miller
43:18well that would have
43:19settled it
43:21it's still game on
43:22though
43:25as the sands of time
43:26slip away
43:27from Dundee
43:28from Dundee
43:28and I did
43:32they were nearly
43:33knocked out there
43:34and they should have
43:35been
43:35I think Wilson
43:36has to square that
43:37to Calvin Miller
43:40can I understand
43:41them going for goal
43:42himself
43:42and Calvin Miller
43:43won't be
43:44believe
43:45he hasn't put that
43:46in the back of the
43:46net
43:47Dolcex ball
43:49can United
43:50clash
43:51even just one
43:52opportunity
43:55two minutes left
43:56and there's going to be
43:58a minimum of three
43:59added on
44:00on top of that
44:02so United have just
44:03under five minutes
44:05left
44:05to try and salvage
44:07this in force
44:07extra time
44:09Ivan Dolcex
44:15it's going to need
44:16to be better
44:20as you can see
44:21Dylan Tate's pulled
44:22up in the box
44:24yeah I mean
44:26there's a chance
44:27here
44:27Falker
44:28to put the ball
44:29the game beyond
44:29doubt
44:32yeah
44:33I'm being harsh
44:34on him
44:34I don't think
44:35the pass is on
44:36to Calvin Miller
44:36he's every right
44:37to go for goal
44:38it's difficult
44:38to resist it
44:39from that position
44:40it is absolutely
44:41Miller at full
44:42stretch
44:42just can't
44:43Chavez does
44:44just enough
44:45to put him off
45:12Stephenson
45:13McCann though
45:26That's a piquet, run by Sapsford, a chance for Dundon United to get, the defenders up,
45:40Graham Crestes, Chavez, not the biggest but aggressive.
45:48So we're into the first of the three minutes, being added on at the end, Will Ferries free kick, Luke
45:56Donaldson, launched away by Barney Stewart, those opening 20 minutes
46:08are proving so costly for Dundee United, and so fruitful for Falkirk.
46:26A lot of tired bodies out there now.
46:29Yeah, it's been Fante.
46:31I see there, first game, catching Henderson with the arm across the face there.
46:42Take all the time he needs, Barney Stewart also, going down with a pain in his foot but back up.
46:51One more win will seal top six for Falkirk.
46:56The next league game is a trip to Aberdeen.
47:00We're no longer a threat for that final top six place.
47:07Already beaten the Dunds twice this season, Falkirk.
47:11Will be time added on on top of the stoppages now, quite clearly.
47:18So much more quarterfinal action to come across the weekend.
47:23Speaking of Aberdeen, they go to Dunfermline tomorrow night, 7.30, live on Sportsound on BBC Radio Scotland.
47:29Sunday, Rangers Celtic, that's a one o'clock kickoff at Ibrox.
47:34Back here on the BBC Scotland channel on Sunday evening, St Mirren against Partick Thistle.
47:43Falkirk going to bring on Lewis Nielsen, former Dundee United defender, currently at Hearts on loan here.
47:53Off comes Dylan Tate, who always puts in a shift.
47:59Nielsen comes on, John McGlynn's been saving his subs up for late on in the match to eat up the
48:05time.
48:05Barney Stewart also going off.
48:08Falkirk! Falkirk! Falkirk!
48:11Been giving Falkirk the lead tonight.
48:15Falkirk!
48:16Two headers for Falkirk.
48:18Falkirk!
48:20We're taking them through to the semis.
48:31So, imagine that'll be the last change as Ethan Williams comes on as well.
48:38Right.
48:40Is it late enough in the game for you to give mana the match without getting bitten?
48:44Probably not, but I'll go for it anyway.
48:46It might be a surprise, but I'm going to go for Leo McCann.
48:51I think when he's had to defend, he's defended really well.
48:55Get forward, unbelievable cross for the second goal, which is going to make potentially a difference.
49:01Well, there's Russell.
49:03There's giving Falkirk a free kit.
49:05And the Dundee United supporters are irate about that.
49:08A yellow coming as well for the skipper.
49:11Nost Graham booked.
49:13Yeah, so as I was saying, the man who likes to meet was Leon McCann.
49:19And again, another who's, you know, he's part of the fabric of this club nowadays.
49:25And another who's had an outstanding season.
49:29Falkirk back in the top flight and they've made it look so simple at times.
49:33Yeah, another that's, you know, promising young player.
49:37I wouldn't say lost his way, but maybe didn't reach the expectations, but certainly found his form at Falkirk.
49:47Combative left back that wants to get forward.
49:51Great quality in his delivery.
49:54Another one revitalized and rejuvenated by John McGlynn.
50:00And the fifth minute of stoppage time, three were added.
50:05Can United get one last opportunity?
50:10It's probably going to have to come now.
50:12Also might have been offside there.
50:15Here goes Sapsfards, play on.
50:19It's going to come right through to Bain and you would imagine that will be about that for United.
50:25And they're going to be made to pay a heavy duty price for the way they started this game.
50:32Yeah, yeah.
50:33Not good enough in the first half, much better in the second, but the damage was done by Falkirk's performance
50:38in that first half.
50:40Falkirk are Scottish Cup semi-finalists.
50:46John McGlynn having a dream season when they return to the big time for the first time in 15, 16
50:54years.
50:57A top six spare all but done.
51:01And they are the first side through to this season's Scottish Cup semis.
51:09A wonderful night.
51:12In a season of wonderful days and nights, the Bairns are going back to Hampden.
51:20Barney Stewart and Finn Yates goals in the opening.
51:2420 minutes have proved decisive.
51:28And despite Julius Eskisson's salvo for United in first half stoppage time.
51:35Sapsford hit the post in their closest moment in the second half.
51:41But they just didn't have enough.
51:44And it is a 13th Scottish Cup semi-final for the Bairns.
51:50The twice winners, who won it in 1913 and in 1957, are a serious threat in this competition.
52:02Make no mistake about that.
52:05They are in it to win it.
52:08And there will be plenty who will feel they can win it.
52:14Dundee United are out, Falkirk are through.
52:18It finishes here at the Falkirk Stadium at the end of the first of this season's quarter-finals.
52:29Falkirk 2, Dundee United 1.
