Planning any outdoor activities for the holiday tomorrow ? well you might want to reconsider, Rochelle Edwards got the details in our weather forecast.
00:00It's Rochelle now with tonight's weather forecast.
00:03Thanks, Tisha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
00:07It's not Friday, but tomorrow is a holiday, so it's only right that I celebrate.
00:12Now, let's get right to your weather.
00:15We're starting with what happened today.
00:18An active tropical wave moved across the lesser Antilles with favourable mid- and upper-level support,
00:25leading to isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms across the entire island chain, including Trinidad and Tobago.
00:34This activity moved from the southeast to northwest, intensifying and producing locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and frequent thunder.
00:44Speaking of thunder, a particularly intense cluster moved north-central and northwestern Trinidad,
00:52producing over 300 lightning strikes earlier today as it moved northwest.
00:59Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.
01:03Now that we have that covered, let's head over to conditions in Port of Spain.
01:07TB6's Weather Center says downtown is mostly clear, with temperatures coming in at 28 degrees.
01:14We have winds coming southeast at 3 knots.
01:17Humidity is at 84%.
01:20For tonight, we're getting some party cloudy conditions with a few showers.
01:25The chance of isolated thunderstorm activity after midnight is low.
01:30We have minimum temperatures coming in at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago.
01:37What are we doing for the holiday tomorrow?
01:40Are we just chilling inside or are we outside?
01:43Well, that all depends because the Met Office is forecasting variably cloudy conditions with occasional showers and it's coming in at varying intensities.
01:54Isolated thunderstorm activity is likely from mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
01:59So, it's looking like we're inside, guys.
02:01We have maximum temperatures at 32 degrees in both islands.
02:07Now, if you're hoping that conditions improve in the coming days, well, it definitely will.
02:12In our two-day forecast, Thursday and Friday are both coming in hot and sunny and at times breezy.
02:19But, of course, the rain has to remind us that we're in the wet seasons.
02:24So, these conditions will be interrupted by partly cloudy spells with isolated showers.
02:30There's a chance of isolated thunderstorm activity as well.
02:34Maximum temperatures are 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 on Thursday and 33 degrees in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago on Friday.
02:44Now, I did mention that tomorrow will be a rainy day.
02:48But, if you're still looking for that beach line, seas are moderate with waves of 1.5 meters to 2 meters in open waters and up to 1 meter in sheltered areas.
02:58Looking at our sun times now, in Trinidad, sunrise is at 5.55 and it will set at 6.01.
03:04In Tobago, sunrise is at 5.51 and it will set at 5.58.
03:09Now, it's time for your Thai times.
03:14In international news, two people have died in eastern Taiwan and scores more are trapped or missing after a super typhoon caused a mountain lake to burst its banks.
03:36The barrier lake formed by previous landslides broke on Tuesday afternoon.
03:41Super typhoon Ragusa is the strongest storm of 2025 and is now bearing down on China's south-southern coast.
03:51It is due to make a landfall in Guangdong province on Wednesday, where some 370,000 people have been evacuated and many schools and businesses closed.
04:03Hong Kong has upgraded its typhoon warning to level 10, the maximum level.
04:09That's all for weather tonight.
04:11Happy Republic Day in advance and I hope everyone have a safe holiday.
