00:06exists we want to show the world we're better than america and largely they have been unfortunately

00:13i think they've got the all-time record against us right and in my lifetime i don't remember how

00:17often the americans have won i think europe's got us in my lifetime right but it turns out

00:23that the american players are each getting half a million dollars from pga of america to participate

00:32in this okay now to be fair the way the half million dollars works is this 300 000 of it

00:39goes to the charity of their choosing okay all right that's not great great now that means that

00:46you'll have 12 different charities in theory that get a big check for 300 grand i think that's awesome

00:52so right but 200 grand far more than most americans make in the course of a year go to the player to

01:00keep for themselves oh so i wondered are they playing because they're proud to wear the red white and blue

01:07and we want to beat europe back to europe right and show the world that we're the best golfers

01:13collectively we know that uh scheffler is but collectively does america now own the trophy

01:19as the golf dominant country in the world right yeah and yet these guys won't do it without taking

01:26a check and that's what rankles me now i want to be further fair about this bryson de chambeau who i love

01:34came out yesterday and said i'm giving a whole half mil to charity i've been blessed i've made over 200

01:40million dollars in my lifetime i'm gonna make a lot more money i'm gonna give every penny of the half a

01:47million bucks to the charity of my choice right yeah but not every guy is and now the issue is

01:54they've apparently told pga of america to let the media know that's covering the rider cup don't ask

02:01because there are some guys that are pocketing the 200k and i guess you could say look it's their

02:09personal time it's a five six day commitment i know the tournament's three days but they got to be

02:14either i think all week long oh yeah they got to do all there's a lot of there they should be

02:18compensated for their time i say f that like you're blessed you've made tens and hundreds of millions

02:24of dollars playing golf i don't begrudge that you have a skill most people don't have but isn't there

02:29something you can do without having to have a price tag attached to it i know that i know that's so

02:36naive of me and i know better yeah but wouldn't it be nice if just once in a while somebody said

02:44i'm so proud to represent my country in this sporting event yeah that i'll do it for free

02:51because i want to rock the red white and blue i want to win i want to hear the star spangled banner

02:58and you don't have to pay me to do it and it started with the dream team i'm going all the way

03:04back because the dream team for them to commit back in the 92 olympics yeah they got a million dollars

03:12each yeah and they took that money and they should have now maybe different things they should have
