00:00Did you know that Michigan touches four of the five Great Lakes?
00:03That's why it has more lighthouses than any other state.
00:06In fact, Michigan has 119 known lighthouses within its borders,
00:11with most of them being built along the southern shore of Lake Michigan.
00:15The only Great Lake that Michigan doesn't touch is Lake Ontario.
00:18The Straits of Mackinac, which connect Lake Michigan to Lake Huron, are also in Michigan.
00:23And that makes it all very convenient for those looking to take a boat tour
00:27to see the many lighthouses in the area.
00:30In this video, we'll be taking a tour of the five Great Lakes states
00:34and counting down the number of lighthouses they each have.
00:37Let's get started.
00:38Coming in, in fifth, is Wisconsin,
00:41with Wisconsin having 48 lighthouses within its borders.
00:45Most of the lighthouses in Wisconsin can be found along its 272-mile-long shoreline on Lake Michigan.
00:53Number four is Minnesota, which has 49 lighthouses.
00:57Like Wisconsin, most of Minnesota's lighthouses are on Lake Superior, which borders the northern part of the state.
01:05Illinois comes in at three with only three lighthouses in the entire state.
01:10All three of them are located on Lake Michigan and can be found within an hour's drive of Chicago.
01:15Next up is Ohio, which has a total of 23 lighthouses.
01:20All but one of them are located on Lake Erie, with the other being on the man-made Cuyahoga River in Cleveland.
01:26And finally, the top spot in the state with the most lighthouses is, of course, Michigan,
01:32with 119 lighthouses spread out along its 3,200-mile-long coastline.
01:37That's a whole lot of lighthouses.
01:39So there you have it, the five Great Lakes states and their total number of lighthouses.
