Monmouth Youth Environmental charter
Transcript
00:00I'm Nikki James, I'm Sustainability Officer at Habdasher's Momma School and we've just finished
00:06our event at the Savoy, the launch event of the Children's Youth Charter and it's been amazing.
00:19The river wide is clean and sparkling, food is fresh, fair and nourishing. We invite you to help us
00:27think it's real. Today I feel like we've made a change and it really, it's really shown that
00:33we've got a community backing us up and really motivating us to make this change. I think that
00:40it's really important that we should be doing this because if we don't then in 40, 50 years there's
00:49going to be nothing that we can do to fix what has happened hundreds of years ago. I think it's good
00:57that we did it today because we would have left it too late if we didn't do it.
01:01It's great to be here and to be at this event with so many great ideas being generated by young people
01:07from Monmouth, from all the schools in Monmouth. I'm Catherine Maybee, I'm the Cabinet Member for
01:12Climate Change and Environment at Monmouthshire County Council. I've had a wonderful time today
01:17at the launch of the Youth Environmental Charter here in Monmouth. I just think it's one of the most
01:22important things because the voice of children is the voice that we have to listen to for the future.
01:28They are our future. Today was super important for us because this is going to be the thing
01:33that leads to Monmouth becoming more eco, a better place. All together we can make a difference.
