00:00I'm here today with MP for Mummashare, Catherine Fooks, and she's going to tell us a little bit about what the Mummashare Centre are doing to help people who have experienced the devastating aftermath of storm Claudia.
00:14So Catherine, how can the community of Mummashare help in aiding people who have unfortunately lost their houses and lost possessions due to the storm?
00:25Well, first of all, a really massive thank you to the emergency services. We evacuated people here to Monmouth Leisure Centre last night during the flood.
00:36People can help by dropping things off here like blankets or food donations.
00:42But another thing is, everyone needs a place to stay and there are still some families here who aren't yet able to go somewhere else to stay this evening.
00:52So I know the council are working really hard on finding them a place to stay, but it's wonderful to see.
00:58I've just been talking to some people here who've offered rooms for a couple, for example, with a cat and a dog who can't go to a hotel.
01:06So, yeah, things like that are really important. Maybe offering if you've got a spare room in your house for a night or two, that would be amazing.
01:13What else do they have here as well? They've got blankets and other...
01:17Yeah, blankets and clothes. I mean, the Red Cross who are here said that they had to give someone a new pair of shoes because when she was evacuated, she got completely wet.
01:26Her socks and shoes got completely wet. She didn't have time to even bring a pair of shoes with her.
01:30So they've replaced her shoes. So it's things like that, really, that are really helpful.
