Scores of students attached to the Youth Entrepreneurship for Self-Empowerment (YES) programme are facing eviction from their dormitories and are owing registration fees, having not received stipends owed to them by the Yes program.

The program is an arm of the Division of Community Development. Elizabeth Williams has been following the story and has this report.

00:07they rely heavily on this stipend to cover critical expenses.
00:12One student said they were required to sign contracts, which clearly stated that stipends
00:17would be dispersed by the third week of August, yet September 17th, they are still unpaid.
00:24Another student told TV6 News the money is urgently needed to register for upcoming semesters,
00:30pay tuition balances, cover rent or dormitory fees and to meet daily living expenses.
00:36Students complain that they are continually being told that there are unforeseen challenges resulting in the delay.
00:44The management of the YES program has issued a statement confirming that while the payments may be processed earlier,
00:52the latest date will be on or before the close of the financial year, 30th September 2025.
