02:00Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome the president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe, Frank Kroll.
02:24Thank you very much, everybody.
02:25Good evening, everyone, and welcome here in the Sheds in Brussels.
02:35And this is an incredible space revitalized into a dynamic and sustainable arena, echoing much of what is at the heart of Mitsubishi Motors, Europe's remarkable transformation.
02:46The past three years have seen the introduction of the ASX, Colt, and flagship Outlander PHCV.
02:53While earlier this year, we premiered the all-new Grandis compact SUV.
02:58And today, you are the first ones to see the all-new Grandis in its first public debut.
03:05Also today, we add yet another vehicle to the mix with the all-electric Eclipse Cross, completing our lineup and increasing our market coverage substantially.
03:13Mitsubishi Motors Europe is driving forward, gaining momentum, and expanding its lineup to deliver a high competitive electrified SUV-based model range, incorporating cutting-etched, fully electric, plug-in hybrid, and of course hybrid powertrains.
03:30State-of-the-art advanced driving assistance systems and Google built-in for unparalleled connectivity.
03:37And the growth in Mitsubishi Motors Europe's vehicle lineup, vehicles fully developed for the European customers, coincides with the continued expansion of the brand into new markets.
03:50Today's settings in Brussels could not be more significant.
03:54Mitsubishi Motors returns to the Belgium new car market with its fully renewed SUV-based model lineup.
04:01A sign of the energy Mitsubishi Motors has for the European market and a sign of things to come.
04:06But I'm not alone on this exciting day.
04:10In this incredible setting, helping me dive into this important new vehicle and explain more about it, I would like to welcome some very important guests.
04:20Firstly, Kato-san, the President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, who has traveled a very long way from Japan to be with us here today.
04:28And also Matsuoka-san, who is the head of design at Mitsubishi Motors R&D Europe, which is near Frankfurt in Germany.
04:37And we will be hearing more from them very soon.
04:40But thank you for joining us and welcome to the event here in the Sheds.
04:44This next generation Eclipse Cross is a particularly important milestone.
04:49This highly advanced model is packed with the latest technology, not only incorporating the latest Mitsubishi Motors design language,
04:55but also integrating an all-electric powertrain.
05:00And Mitsubishi Motors is no stranger to battery electric vehicles, having pioneered the technology in the IMEEV,
05:07the world's first electric vehicle from a major manufacturer to enter full-series production back already in 2009.
05:15And there is no doubt that this strategic model has a leading role to play as we continue our journey towards electrification here in Europe,
05:23which remains a key region for Mitsubishi Motors worldwide.
05:28And I would like to ask Kato-san to explain more about it.
05:32Kato-san, over to you.
05:34Kato-san, over to you.
05:45Thank you, Frank. And good evening, everybody.
05:49I'm very delighted to be here with you in Europe today.
05:54As Frank mentioned, the European market paves the way.
05:58Mitsubishi Motors has been selling cars in Europe for almost 50 years.
06:07And we know very well that it is the most advanced region in the world for design and technology.
06:15And also the most demanding in terms of performance as well as regulations.
06:21Our vision at Mitsubishi Motors is to enrich people's lives by igniting their adventurous spirit, confident people who choose their own path in life.
06:35We want to be a trusted partner for our customers, enabling them to go on their daily adventures, whether it is on road, off-road, or in the city, with safety and confidence.
06:52And that adventurous spirit goes way back.
06:58Mitsubishi Motors has long been associated with SUVs of various types since our first 4x4 concept about 90 years ago.
07:09Environmental commitment is one of our highest priorities.
07:16Having developed the world's first mass-produced electric vehicle, the i-MIV, Mitsubishi Motors considered it our mission to deliver environmentally friendly vehicles to the market.
07:31And we have been actively working towards achieving carbon neutrality.
07:38Against this backdrop, the introduction of the new Eclipse Cross symbolizes an important step in our efforts towards decarbonization and environmental responsibility.
07:53The automotive industry is changing fast.
07:59We are well on the road to electrification.
08:03And during this transition, different solutions are required for different vehicles.
08:10And of course, customer requirements in terms of price and performance.
08:15For example, ASX and Grandis offer both internal combustion engine and hybrid electric options.
08:26And our flagship outrun the PHEV is powered by our pioneering plug-in hybrid system, which is the most advanced on the market.
08:37And a fine example that the journey to carbon neutrality does not have to come at the expense of driving pleasure and performance.
08:51And this is fundamental.
08:53We must offer products that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
08:59Not just launching an EV for the sake of launching an EV, but a competitive model with the right EV range, the right performance, and the right solution.
09:14A car that people actually need, a car that fits their lives and values, and fits the adventurous spirit that Mitsubishi Motors stands for.
09:26And this is why we have chosen the compact SUV format for our re-entry into the full electric vehicle game.
09:37The compact SUV segment is the most popular in Europe.
09:42And with the rapid advancement in EV range and charging infrastructures,
09:49we fully believe that the all-electric Eclipse Cross is the right car at the right time.
09:59As I mentioned earlier, we want our products to serve as trusted partners for customers, enabling them to safely go about life's adventures.
10:13Cars that they can trust and have confidence in.
10:20And those values should also be expressed through design of our cars and Mitsubishi Motors' design DNA.
10:30The next generation Eclipse Cross is the latest in Mitsubishi Motors' advanced design.
10:39And I will ask Matsuoka-san, Head of Design at our European Design Studio in Germany, to explain more.
10:47But first, let's take a look, ladies and gentlemen, the next generation Eclipse Cross.
10:57Thank you.
10:59Thank you.
11:00Thank you.
11:02Thank you.

13:46an advanced and sophisticated smart EV design
13:50with an expression of the confidence, safety, and robustness
13:55by using armor-like design.
13:59Element, which you see particularly on the front area
14:04of the new Eclipse Cross with a dynamic shield concept.
14:09The dynamic shield continues to be our symbol
14:13of the strength and the protection, and in new generation,
14:19the dynamic shield is seamlessly and structurally integrated
14:24with three-dimensional surfaces, adding new depths
14:30and dimensionally providing a sense of the strength and sophistication.
14:37The satin chrome dynamic shield front face creates
14:41the distinctive and stylish character.
14:45The protective armor visuals integrated
14:48the distinctive signature full LED headlights,
14:54representing the battery electric SUV's robustness
14:59and modernity.
15:00The face of the new Eclipse Cross around the three-dialogo
15:05delivers three-dimensional honeycomb surface treatment
15:09to provide a sense of the both strength and sophistication.
15:15As I shift to the new Eclipse Cross' side profile,
15:19its proportion showcase, its agility, and the rain force,
15:25its focus on the technology, a dynamic J-shaped stroke sweep
15:32from the front to the rear, underlining the vehicle's cabin,
15:37providing a dynamic design representation of the SUV's character.
15:42The compact SUV's tech-driven attitude is highlighted
15:47by the integrated door handles and perfectly harmonized
15:53the three-diamond logo and triangle-shaped alloy wheels.
15:57The rear side of the car was designed with the concept of hexagonal stability.
16:06The three-dimensional hexagon shape expresses Mitsubishi Motors' DNA.
16:12The horizontally configured LED lights
16:15delivered two design characteristics.
16:18They created drama and attraction at the same time,
16:23while also providing stability and strong posture.
16:27A varied range of the highlights in gloss black,
16:32satin chrome, and volcanic gray enhance the vehicle's proactive SUV character
16:38from the grille and skid plate to the roof rail and the side moldings.
16:47The exterior design is intensified further
16:51with the strong color palette
16:53and higher trim level choice of the two-tone finish,
16:59mixing one body color with an onyxous black roof.
17:04More depth is added with the choice of the 19- and 20-inch machine-cutted two-tone alloy wheels.
17:12In the interior,
17:15the design team worked hard
17:18to bring new eclipsed cross exterior character into the cabin space.
17:25The result is space that combines practicality
17:30with luxuriousness
17:33that optimizes materials used
17:36and blends surface to the delivery refinement.
17:42In the interior,
17:43the new diamond pattern leather seat enhance
17:48the feeling of the sportiness
17:50and create an authentic high-quality driving atmosphere.
17:55Firstly,
17:56wrapping around horizontal satin silver accent
18:00and sophisticated details represent modernity and luminousness.
18:05Secondly,
18:06the new diamond patterns sensitive leather sheet express sportiness
18:11and authentic high-quality driving mood.
18:16Light control,
18:16whether from natural sources or LED technology,
18:20helps adjust the interior's character.
18:24based in controllable natural light
18:30from the three-size electrochromic glass roof,
18:34passengers can effortlessly adjust opacity to match their mood.
18:41When night falls,
18:44LED ambient lights create a modern high-tech atmosphere.
18:50The system is built on multiple LED lights,
18:54with an independent control for the gradual illumination
18:59with 48 different colors available
19:03that can also change depending on the driving mode
19:07to make interior mood customizable.
19:11Creating the new design built on the eclipse cross heritage,
19:16taking the expression of the Mitsubishi Motors design DNA
19:20step further was a challenge we enjoyed,
19:25embarrassed,
19:26and I think succeeded in.
19:30Thank you for being with us today.
19:33Now, I'd like to pass the word to Frank,
19:36who will explain us the main feature of our all-new eclipse cross.
19:42Thank you, Matsouka-san, and congratulations on the fantastic new design.
