00:00And now, the series premiere of Project Runway All-Stars.
00:04Wow.
00:04The most daring, controversial designers have returned.
00:07My God, I cannot believe I'm back here.
00:09It's the best versus the best.
00:11I'm the greatest star of them all.
00:13Game on.
00:14It's you against me.
00:15You want to play like that?
00:16I'm going to kick ass.
00:17As they compete again for the biggest prize in runway history.
00:21A staggering half a million dollars.
00:23They'll be judged by a new panel of fashion experts.
00:27Hello, people.
00:28I love the new judges.
00:28Hi, designers.
00:30I'm a fan.
00:31This is a clean slate.
00:32It's time for me to redeem myself.
00:34They will rip, cut, and stitch their way through the most demanding challenges ever.
00:39The pressure is on.
00:41The battle of sheer determination begins now.
00:45You have a hand to estimate your point.
00:46I'm going to sniff everyone's peepi off.
00:52This is the series premiere of Project Runway All-Stars.
00:56Last time I was here, I made it all the way to the very end, and my heart was broken.
01:10I deserve to be here, but I'm only here because I'm going to win.
01:15Oh, my God.
01:16Michael!
01:18Oh, yes!
01:20I thought you were going to be here.
01:21I knew you were going to be here.
01:22I think I'm the best designer here because my work is fashion forward, current, contemporary,
01:28and accessible.
01:29Getting that close to winning was a big deal, and that is sort of driving me.
01:33The most important thing that I learned when I was on Project Runway is to never second-guess
01:38myself.
01:39There are people who feel that I am not a fierce competitor, but honey, all I can say
01:44is you think this is the game?
01:45Let's go.
01:46I wouldn't be here if I wasn't good, and I'll leave here with my sash and an oversized tiara
01:51and all that.
01:52That's what I came for.
01:53I couldn't possibly commit to this type of experience if I didn't want to walk away
01:59with some sort of amazing and incredible prize.
02:02The first time, I wasn't so attached, but this time, I do want to win.
02:06I've always been a star.
02:08Darling, of course I have to be here.
02:11Someone had to put the star in All Star.
02:17Sometimes I can come across as really stocked up, snobby, and just rude.
02:23But screw everybody else, and do what you love.
02:27I'm totally fine with it.
02:28I will be competitive.
02:30Hey, Jarrell, how are you?
02:32How are you?
02:33Good to see you.
02:34Good to see you.
02:34You look cute.
02:35What's going on?
02:36You're not working.
02:41I've heard some stories about Limelight, that it was a club, and now it's been turned into
02:45a shopping center, so I'm really kind of looking forward to going in there.
02:48You're up against the most talented, and you know what they can do because you've seen
02:52it on the show.
02:53Hey, oh my God.
02:55Goodness me.
02:55I'm kind of checking to see who is my competition, and there is Sweet Pea and Mondo, and I'm like,
03:01uh-oh, here it goes.
03:03Oh my God, is that Mondo with the high-top?
03:06It's exciting.
03:07All of us are here.
03:09It's on.
03:10Hello, designers.
03:21Hello.
03:22I'm Angela Lindvall.
03:23Welcome back to New York.
03:26Hi, Angela.
03:27Angela Lindvall is actually one of the most versatile models.
03:30She's done print, runway, swimwear.
03:33She's worked for all of the top designers.
03:36Angela is beautiful.
03:37I think she's a fantastic model.
03:39Easy on the eyes.
03:40I'm excited that it's going to be somebody new, a new perspective.
03:44Welcome to Project Runway All-Stars.
03:47Thanks.
03:48Over the next three months, this competition will showcase your skills in weekly challenges.
03:54As all-stars, there will be no immunity.
03:57At the end of each challenge, one of you will be eliminated.
04:00And the rest will be one step closer to the grand prize.
04:05Do you want to know what it is?
04:06Yeah.
04:07Help, help, help.
04:08You are competing for the biggest prize in Project Runway history.
04:12The overall winning designer will receive the ultimate goal in fashion.
04:17Their own exclusive batik featuring their designs in select Neiman Marcus stores and neimanmarcus.com.
04:24Wow.
04:25Woo-hoo.
04:25Amazing to sell in Neiman Marcus your collection as a designer.
04:30That's every designer's dream, naturally.
04:33The winning designer will receive not only a fashion-spreaded Marie Claire magazine, but
04:38also a position as guest editor for one year.
04:42Whoa.
04:42Whoa.
04:43I'd kill to be the guest editor at Marie Claire because I really believe that those are one
04:50of those experiences that are priceless.
04:54And there's more.
04:55Industrial sewing machines, fabric printers, sergers, and other equipment.
05:00All provided by Brother.
05:02Wow.
05:03And $100,000 in technology and office space from HP and Intel.
05:09Wow.
05:11And?
05:12Are there's more?
05:13A cash prize of $100,000 courtesy of L'Oreal Paris.
05:19That's a lot of prizes.
05:21Every single prize that was named was something that was like on my wish list to Santa to propel
05:26my business and propel my career.
05:28This total prize package is worth close to a staggering half a million dollars.
05:36Not a bad start.
05:39And we all know that you've been judged before.
05:41Maybe they had it right.
05:43Maybe they had it wrong.
05:45They were wrong.
05:46I am fabulous.
05:47I'm awesome.
05:48I'm talented.
05:50I demand satisfaction.
05:52The good news is this is a clean slate.
05:55So are you ready to meet our new judges?
05:57Yes.
05:57Yes.
05:59People are just on the edge of their seat.
06:01You know, it's a new host, new judges.
06:03You never know what you're going to get.
06:04I know what the old judges were looking for.
06:06And I knew what they were, you know, the protocol and what they like and all.
06:09Honey, I have no clue about these new people.
06:12So I'm going to keep one eye open.
06:14First, please welcome the designer and co-founder of Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
06:23Hi, designers.
06:25Hi.
06:25Hi.
06:25Georgina Chapman is one of our judges.
06:28So I'm absolutely thrilled.
06:30You always see the most beautiful dresses on the red carpets are always Marquesa.
06:36So to have her as a judge is just really inspiring.
06:39And also we have one of the most famous names in fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
06:44Woo-hoo!
06:45Woo-hoo!
06:46Yay!
06:48Hello, people.
06:50How are you?
06:50Hi.
06:51Hello.
06:51I greatly respect Isaac Mizrahi.
06:56Through his work, his reinvention of himself, I have constantly been inspired by over the
07:02years and really respect him as a creator.
07:06Georgina and Isaac and I are excited to see what you've accomplished since the last time
07:10you were here.
07:11I do feel like I've grown a lot since the last time I was on this show.
07:13So I've got all sorts of new tricks up my sleeve that I plan to razzle-dazzle with.
07:17We asked you to bring a recent creation that you think represents who you are as a designer.
07:22The models are waiting for you backstage.
07:25You'll have just 30 minutes to dress them before returning to the runway for our first
07:29ever All-Stars Fashion Show.
07:31Woo!
07:33So good luck.
07:38Oh, my God.
07:39You're good.
07:39You're just like you.
07:40Finally, it's time for me to redeem myself.
07:44To lock it up.
07:46My main competition here is Cara Jenks.
07:50I loved her collection that she did for her season.
07:53I thought it should have won, but I really like her as a person, too.
07:56So I don't want her to go, but better than me, right?
08:00Sweet Pea, I think, is phenomenal.
08:02And I think Rami's the absolute best.
08:04And I think he's my biggest competition because he's a draper.
08:08This was inspired by the Disney Concert Hall building in Los Angeles.
08:11As much as I was known for draping, there are also other things that I do very well.
08:15So as you walk out, you can literally open like a flower.
08:18Jam them in there.
08:21Okay, guys, we've got to go to runway.
08:23You ready to go?
08:24Oh, my God.
08:25Here we go again.
08:26I'm completely panicked.
08:27I'm super excited to show the judges who I am as a designer at the fashion show.
08:40We asked you to bring a recent creation that you think represents who you are as a designer.
08:45Georgina and Isaac and I are excited to see what you've accomplished since the last time you were here.
08:50So let's get started.
08:51I'm not intimidated by anyone.
08:54Your biggest competition is you.
08:56I just have to do work that I think is the best that I can do.
09:00For all stars, I feel more confident as a designer.
09:04And I have the tools that I need to do better this time.
09:07I'm a freak about fit and construction.
09:10I'm here to represent me as a designer and do what I do best.
09:14We're born naked, but as humans, it's our nature to embellish oneself, to beautify ourselves.
09:21And I just take that to the highest level possible.
09:25I am an artist and a maker by nature.
09:29So I approach designing organically.
09:31I approach it as a way of life.
09:33I came to this country with nothing but the clothes on my back.
09:38I'm here fighting for my business just like everybody else.
09:41My fabrics are always really high-class fabrics.
09:45I love doing couture because it's almost like you are sculpting.
09:50I brought something that's a little bit more toned-down version of me, a little bit more ready-to-wear.
09:56It's the softer side of me.
09:58It is my desire to make the world a beautiful and a better place, one gown at a time.
10:03My model, she's making me question my sexuality right now.
10:07She really brought that dress to life.
10:09I want to stick around as long as I can.
10:11And this is really a new era for me.
10:14I really want to push my own boundaries.
10:20Well, guys, that was a great start to the season.
10:22Thank you. Thank you very much.
10:24Georgina, what did you think?
10:26Congratulations, designers. That was really great.
10:28I'm just so excited to see what you guys are going to do next.
10:31Thank you very much.
10:32Isaac?
10:33So diverse, 13 specific points of view.
10:37This is going to be a great competition, I can tell.
10:40But for now, you're going to head off to your penthouse suite at the Flat Hotel New York.
10:45And I will see you guys on location for your first All-Stars Challenge.
10:53Have a good night.
10:54Ooh, what's this?
11:02Nice.
11:04Wow.
11:05This is cute.
11:06This is cute.
11:07Wow.
11:07I want to say...
11:09Oh!
11:09I did jump on a couple of beds just to see if they felt right.
11:13Kind of like Goldilocks.
11:14Oh, my gosh!
11:15She marked her bed with her lipstick.
11:17What is that?
11:17I put a kiss on my bed.
11:19This is my bed.
11:20I thought it was kind of funny that Elisa, who normally likes to spit on her clothes for
11:25a mark, is marking her bed with a kiss.
11:28It's my bed.
11:29Hey, there's a note.
11:30It says press play and there's a control.
11:32Okay.
11:33I'm, like, looking around that whole room trying to see what am I going to grab to rip
11:37apart and make a dress out of or something out of.
11:39There you go.
11:41I'm Giancarlo Giametti.
11:42Oh!
11:43Oh!
11:44Oh, my gosh.
11:45There is Giancarlo Giametti, who I instantly recognize as Valentino's partner.
11:51Something terribly important for me and very, very dear to Valentino, the new Valentino Virtual
11:57Museum, where you can visit all his work online.
12:01I wish to you lots of success.
12:10You have lots of talent and try to make beautiful clothes.
12:15Clothes, then they speak and they are beautiful to see them in the runway.
12:23Just that one sentence when he said, you, Project Runway, all-stars, and I'm like, oh, my God,
12:35and I'm one of them.
12:36Let's celebrate.
12:39Y'all know it from the project.
12:40I thought y'all were shooting.
12:43To Valentino, the all-stars, and a beautiful...
12:47Good morning, you guys.
13:03Good morning, Angela.
13:05Are you ready for your first challenge?
13:07Yes.
13:07This is the challenge that the designers love to hate, but the fans love, you guessed
13:15it, the unconventional challenge.
13:18As all-star designers, you've got to be versatile with materials.
13:22So, we've given you one of the most versatile stores in America, the 99-Cent Store.
13:31Austin, you did the very first unconventional challenge and you won.
13:34Yes, I remember the very first episode of Project Runway ever.
13:38So, the pressure's on, Austin.
13:40I know.
13:41Oh, gosh.
13:41Okay, we want you to design something fabulous from whatever you can find inside 99-Cent Creation.
13:49But, there is an all-stars twist.
13:52Your look must be inspired in some way by your look that you presented at the fashion show.
13:58Oh, my God.
14:00Had I known my 99-Cent dress had to reflect the first design I showed, I might have brought
14:06something a little different.
14:07This may be the 99-Cent Store, but don't worry, we're not only going to give you a dollar,
14:12you're all-stars, we're going to give you $100 to make your look.
14:15So, remember, this is all about innovation, so push yourself.
14:19We really want you to wow us.
14:21Okay, your 99-Cent unconventional challenge starts now.
14:27Oh, my God.
14:29The challenge for me is that I am trying to make something look like ex-exurious from the 99-Cent
14:34store, and I'm not exactly sure how to attack that challenge.
14:37Lord, please let me grow.
14:39Oh, I'm about to bring down the light.
14:41Okay, I'll come back for that.
14:42I want to create something that has a lot of texture.
14:45That's why I chose the mops.
14:46So, I needed, like, a cluster of mops, so I just grabbed all the black and white ones I
14:51could because it was the only color that the store had a large amount of.
14:55I've always been inspired by these.
14:57I don't know why.
14:58Guys, you have 10 minutes left.
15:03Oh, I have no business had in my life.
15:09Crazy.
15:10I feel like I have no more room.
15:12So, I'm really looking for bright colors.
15:14I see belts that are green and orange and dish towels.
15:17So, anything I see that's bright, I just run towards.
15:20Can someone hand me that finger paint right here?
15:22Everybody, you got five minutes left.
15:25Excuse me, right behind you.
15:28Anyone looking in the store?
15:31I really wanted to stay away from predictable materials like washcloth.
15:35Okay, guys, time's up.
15:38I need another bag.
15:39Everybody, come on to the front.
15:41We're left.
15:43I was completely blown away when, long and behold, April's got the exact same thing that
15:50I'm doing.
15:50She's making something out of the mop heads.
15:52Tell me how much that is.
15:53I'm next.
15:53For the first challenge, the inspiration is the look that we brought to the limelight.
15:58Even though me and Michael both purchased mops, there's no way that we'll make the same
16:02dress.
16:02We don't have the same aesthetic whatsoever.
16:05I'm really worried that April's dress is going to kick my dress's ass because she's
16:09like really good.
16:10I'm terrified.
16:11All right.
16:12We open the door and we see a really beautiful work room.
16:28It has all these different color squares.
16:29It's like a color wheel.
16:31I love my space.
16:32You're so funny.
16:33How are you?
16:34Walking into the work room is almost a little bit overwhelming and kind of like entering
16:39through the gates of hell, but also a good opportunity at the same time.
16:43I love this room.
16:44Thank you for this room.
16:45Hey guys.
16:46Hi.
16:47Hi.
16:48Welcome to 1407 Broadway.
16:50So how do you like your new workspace?
16:53Fantastic.
16:54At each of your workstations, you're going to find HP tablets.
16:58The latest touch technology from HP and Intel will help you sketch and elevate your creativity
17:04throughout the weekly challenges.
17:05And I'm sure you won't forget to use the Neiman Marcus accessory wall.
17:11There's some amazing pieces there, right?
17:13Yes, there are.
17:14So later today, you're going to have your first mentor session with editor-in-chief of
17:18Mary Claire Magazine, Joanna Coles.
17:20I was very happy to find out that our mentor was Joanna Coles.
17:25Just her take on fashion is really important because she's an editor of a magazine and ultimately
17:30that's who you want to impress as a designer.
17:33So you guys have until 10pm tonight to work on your looks and then a couple of hours tomorrow
17:39before your first runway.
17:40I wish you guys all a lot of luck and I'll see you on the runway.
17:44Bye.
17:45She's pretty.
17:46Damn.
17:47Alisa just moved her cutting mat down underneath and I'm thinking, what are you doing?
18:00That's weird.
18:01Now Alisa, if I ever get in your way, you let me know.
18:04Yes, sir.
18:05Alisa, she's very different.
18:06And the reason why I'm going to give her a pass on being different because I had a grandmother
18:09who was committed to the crazy house.
18:11So I really don't think that she's that far off her, honey.
18:15She's, she's, she's, she's something else.
18:22Right now I got all these mop pieces that I'm trying to sew one individually piece by piece
18:28to create like this drapey effect thing that has to do somewhat with the draping of my other dress.
18:34Wait, wait, wait, wait.
18:36But April's dress, it looks just like what you're doing.
18:40It looks the same.
18:44The strings hanging straight down.
18:46That's exactly what you're doing.
18:48Y'all need to have a woman to woman talk.
18:50So you're going to get on the same page or off the same page as the case may be.
18:56Hi, guys.
19:01Hi.
19:02Everyone knows Marie Claire magazine.
19:05So to have the editor in chief Joanna Coles here as our mentor is amazing.
19:09I know you're all super talented.
19:11I know your various skills and I'm here to help you push yourself so that you walk out of here with that $500,000 package.
19:20And of course, one of you on top of this incredible prize is going to be again,
19:25a guest editor at Marie Claire, and I couldn't be more excited.
19:30So good luck to everybody.
19:32OK, Sweet Pea, what are these? These towels?
19:34Yes.
19:35Right, OK.
19:36Is there anything that will surprise the judges that they'll think,
19:39oh, my goodness, Sweet Pea found that. That's incredible.
19:42I would never have thought of doing that.
19:46Um...
19:50You've got Isaac as a judge. He's going to be on you.
19:53I know.
19:54I'm just reminding you, your job here is to really surprise them.
19:59All right, good luck.
20:00Thank you so much.
20:01Sweet Pea's dress.
20:02It's raggedy ruffles.
20:04That's no good.
20:05Me nor likey.
20:07Jordana.
20:08Hi.
20:09Hi.
20:10It's nice to meet you.
20:11It's a pleasure to have you as our mentor.
20:14This dress is all about movement.
20:16And I can see this is going to be about movement, too.
20:18When he starts walking down the runway, it's going to be hairy and fun.
20:20Exactly.
20:21And then I knew that I wanted to create a shorter version,
20:24kind of, like, inspired by the dress, obviously.
20:27I think this is one of those dresses that you sometimes see in stores,
20:31which has no appeal on the hanger, and then you see it on the wearer,
20:34and it comes to life.
20:35Exactly.
20:36Jordana's look, it's made of streamers.
20:39It reminds me of Easter at a Mexican family's house.
20:43It's a pinata.
20:45I hope her model is full of candy.
20:47Mondo, how are you doing?
20:50I don't know if I'm in the competitive mood yet.
20:53And what's it going to take you to get in that competitive frame of mind?
20:57I guess get through this challenge, finish something and be proud of it,
21:01you know?
21:02Fascinating.
21:03I can't wait to see your outfit.
21:05I did have this little gleam of light after I talked to Joanna that,
21:09yes, you know, this is another opportunity,
21:11and this is possibly going to be the thing that allows me to flourish.
21:18You're not going to spit at me, are you?
21:20No, it's actually a blessing mark.
21:22You do it simply with your tongue.
21:23I've been doing this for 17, 18 years,
21:25and my clients actually pay me for my blessing.
21:27They do?
21:28Yes, they do.
21:29That's pretty cool.
21:30What is what you've found in the 1990s store?
21:32Well, I went for three things.
21:33I was like, flowers, something that is a light that flows when you're walking through the
21:38street, you're walking through them on the runway.
21:39These are the flowers.
21:40I'm not seeing much else, that's all.
21:42I mean, you've got judges there looking for surprise.
21:44Is this going to be surprising enough?
21:46Um, I actually think it's important for you to make it surprising to yourself.
21:54Okay, well, I can't wait to see it.
21:56I'm very excited to see how you pull all this together.
21:59Guys, I have to go now, but I have to tell you,
22:01I think the judges are going to have a really difficult time.
22:04I will see you soon.
22:06Bye.
22:07Thank you, Joanna.
22:08Good night.
22:09Oh, my God.
22:09Oh, no.
22:10Oh, no.
22:11Oh, no.
22:12Oh, no.
22:13Oh, no.
22:14Oh, no.
22:15Oh, no.
22:16Oh, no.
22:17Oh, no.
22:18Oh, my God.
22:19No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
22:22Is this a whole thing?
22:24Move that away right now.
22:27My glue gun, like, melted through my whole dress.
22:30At the very last moment of the evening of our challenge,
22:36I realized that my plastic dress was touched by the hot glue gun
22:43and actually burned a hole right in the front of the gown.
22:48Can you add, like, a little square piece?
22:52I don't know.
22:53Hot glue guns.
22:55He was working up until the very last minute.
22:58There's a lot of stuff that's unfinished.
23:00I really feel like this is the last that we're going to see
23:03of Mr. Austin Scarlett.
23:05I don't know.
23:06I have barely enough time to, like, get this dress even.
23:10The fact that I'm going to have to figure out some way to repair
23:13this very obvious hole right in the very front of the dress
23:16is just almost too much for me to handle right now.
23:19I'm about to pull my hair out.
23:25It's not falling apart.
23:42The day of the runway, that's actually, that's a very stressful day for us.
23:47There are so many elements you have to do, the finishing touches,
23:50to fit your model perfectly, to choose the right accessories, to think of hair, to think
23:55of makeup, and then go on stage and present and hope nothing falls apart.
24:01And so it's a stressful day for everybody.
24:03Now, even though I destroyed my dress on the glue gun yesterday, I'm going to...
24:08I need it.
24:09What I ended up doing was very carefully cutting out a very small patch of plastic,
24:16and luckily it sort of all just disappeared into the shiny plastic of the dress.
24:23We need hair and makeup.
24:24Let's go.
24:29I would like to have, like, two little braids on each side.
24:33And down or up?
24:35Polished round and then down so it looks more modern.
24:37I like that.
24:38Welcome to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
24:39It's all about the lip.
24:41I'd like to emphasize on her, sort of, cheekbones.
24:44One minute.
24:45I'd like to do a little, like, red eyeshadow.
24:47Just young, baby doll, fresh.
24:52Oh, I love it.
24:53We got ten minutes to the runway.
24:56Where are my safety pins?
24:58Let me get the bracelet because I really want to see how it looks together.
25:02All right, guys, let's go to runway.
25:04Runway.
25:13Wow.
25:16Hi, designers.
25:17Hi.
25:18Welcome to your first runway.
25:21We have 13 all-star designers here.
25:24And after tonight, there will only be 12.
25:27As it's been said on Project Runway, one day you're in and the next day you're out.
25:34And that's never been more true than on all-stars.
25:38For your first challenge as all-stars, who are used to big budgets, we wanted to see how you would cope with items from a 99-cent store.
25:46Do you feel like we threw you in the deep end?
25:47The deep end.
25:48So let's meet the judges.
25:49First, we have the designer and co-founder of Marquesa, the beautiful Georgina Chapman.
25:57Hi, designers.
25:58Hello.
25:59And one of the most famous names in fashion, designer Isaac Mizrahi.
26:04And our guest judge this week is somebody professionally invested in your success.
26:09He is the senior vice president and fashion director of Neiman Marcus, the fabulous Ken Downey.
26:18Have a great show.
26:25So luckily, the judges did not notice the patch.
26:28My dress has a sort of flowing movement in the skirt, this sort of diaphanous layered effect.
26:34And on the runway, it's just all sort of blurred into a shimmer of beauty.
26:43I think in the unconventional challenge, when my model's walking down the runway, she's looking chic, she's looking sharp, she's looking like she bought the clothes off the rack.
26:53Exactly like I expected her to look.
26:58I think my model looks amazing.
27:00The fact that I was able to pull that out of the 99-cent store from cheap-ass handkerchiefs, fantastic.
27:12Watching my outfit walk down the runway is the same sort of enchanted, humbling process that has happened probably every time something comes to life, if you're really, really lucky.
27:23This time, it's even a little bit more special because I really swore that I would make high art.
27:31This is so funny.
27:33As I see my model walk down the runway, I think that bitch is owning it.
27:36She looks amazing.
27:38She looks rich.
27:40She looks fierce.
27:41She's a diva.
27:43She's got her glasses on, her bag, her jacket, her skirt.
27:45And nobody can with her.
27:51My dress looks colorful, yet tough.
27:54I'm pretty excited because I love my dress and I feel like it's me.
28:01I love seeing my work come to life.
28:03That moment when the model walks down the runway, it reminds me of my sixth birthday, Christmas.
28:09It's just pure joy when I see my model wearing my work.
28:18I think that it's a really good gown to represent what I do, to represent how I've grown as a designer.
28:25I think she looks really beautiful in it.
28:30I think it's exactly me.
28:32It's a little bit edgy, but it has the flowy and a feminine feeling to it.
28:36I love my design because I feel it's a little bit different than anybody else's.
28:43But you never know with judges.
28:44It could be hit or miss.
28:51I think to myself, please don't let any of the tissue rip.
28:54And Lord, please don't let one of those gold safety pins fall.
28:58I do with this dress what I've been doing my whole life, taking a whole little of nothing and turned into a whole lot of something.
29:06I see my model working it down the runway in my look and I think it looks great.
29:11I thought she looked absolutely awesome.
29:12I'm hoping that those mop strings don't pop because some of them are glued together, but she looks beautiful.
29:21I want to go somewhere with her and get a drink and spill something on her dress and watch her soak it up.
29:27I think the design is avant-garde. I think it's different. It's got texture. It's long.
29:37I was so nervous seeing April's dress come down the runway because it was shockingly gorgeous.
29:42They're going to say, well, Michael, April, you used the mops way better than you did.
29:48Hey, designers. If I call your name, please step forward.
29:52Austin, Mila, April, Anthony, Cara, Kenley, Michael.
30:04Congratulations. You are all safe.
30:07Your designs will keep you in the competition and you may leave the runway.
30:14Goodbye. Thank you.
30:17You all have the highest and the lowest scoring designs.
30:20One of you will be named this week's winner and one of you will be going home.
30:25Let's bring out your models.
30:30So, Rami, you're first.
30:32Rami, I really felt you've given a great silhouette here.
30:35What have you made that out of?
30:37Laundry bags.
30:40So, I used that as the tweed almost. I wanted to resemble that.
30:44The tinsel from Christmas Decorations to emulate the ostrich feathers.
30:48And here I used the umbrella lining to sort of create, tie in the blacks all together.
30:54I think you have an edge over the other designers in terms of execution.
30:58You mastered all of these elements. You kind of, you know, made them your, your bitch.
31:05You could photograph this. You could put it in an editorial in a magazine and no one would have any idea that those are umbrella parts and something that came out of a 99 cent store.
31:14That's a huge compliment. Thank you so much.
31:16It looks like a woman that's walked off the Paris runway. So, job well done.
31:21Sweet Pea. Hi.
31:22Can you tell us a little bit about your dress?
31:24I really have been feeling color and I do like mixing the hard and the soft, kind of the sweet feminine with a little touch of edginess.
31:32I don't know how resolved this is. It looks a little ragged to me. It looks a little unfinished, you know.
31:38It's especially unresolved in the back there. Yeah, that's really, that's really, I like a cutout, I do.
31:45But for some reason that just looks like a chew out, not a cutout.
31:48Women never come to me and ask for something that's going to make them look bigger than they already are.
31:54If you're going to go with something graphic, colorful and color blocking like that, it does have to be very precise.
32:00What made you choose the washcloths as your fabric?
32:04I would never own or wear a terrycloth dress, but it was the color that stood out to me.
32:10Thank you, Sweet Pea. Moving on to Jor-El. Georgina, what are your thoughts on Jor-El's dress?
32:15It moved really beautifully. I thought this is a very wearable look. I can imagine a girl wearing this and I think that's a very difficult thing to achieve from a 99 cent store.
32:25Thank you. I like the color of it a lot. I like that it's an alternative to neutral.
32:29I love that you really have taken the idea of this trend of the moment of the high-low hemline and really exploited it in a great way.
32:35Thank you so much, Jor-El. We're going to move on now to Elisa.
32:39Personally, this isn't a look that I immediately respond to, but I want to know more about your use of writing.
32:47I do a lot with sacred geometry. So there was a lot of like, it's half of 360, it's 180 degrees. So I wanted to try to keep the whole circle half thing going so you don't have to know the story.
32:59But if you read the story on this sleeve, you read it on that sleeve, it's a good story. If you read it all together, you know the whole story.
33:05I love the spirit of this. It looks like you. It looks like someone really passionate did it.
33:09I love clothes that tell me the story the minute they hit the runway. Because as soon as clothes have directions, they stay on the rack.
33:16So Mondo, can you tell us a little bit about your 99 cent unconventional dress?
33:20What I used to create this look were binders, electrical tape, these old black cowboy hats, and trash bags.
33:29Considering it's a black dress, it's a fun dress. It's not that serious, which I think is nice.
33:34I think the dress is flawlessly executed and I think it's truly your spirit.
33:39I'd love to see this dress in, shall we say, a real fabric that didn't need to be hosed down in the backyard after wearing it.
33:46You have such a great sense of proportion. That's what makes the dress is the proportion, right?
33:50It's just snappy, the whole thing.
33:53Thank you, Mondo.
33:54So Giordana, can you tell us about your dress?
33:57I was looking for something that had the hard and soft shapes.
34:01And this is the thing that you use to scrub pots and pans.
34:04My favorite thing is the steel wool. The texture looks so divine on the runway.
34:09I do question whether you've got a few too many ideas going on and a few too many elements.
34:15And perhaps you could probably spread those ideas out throughout a collection.
34:19I work so fast and then I'm like done in two, three hours. And then I over-design.
34:26That's fatal.
34:27Yeah, I know.
34:28Thank you, Giordana.
34:29We're now going to deliberate and we'll call you back shortly.
34:33You may leave the runway.
34:37How about our favorite looks? Why don't we start there?
34:39I think Rami had the balance.
34:41He used such an unconventional fabric, yet he pulled it off in such a chic way.
34:46It was well executed.
34:47I think Rami did an amazing job.
34:49The use of fabric, what he found in the 99 cent store that when translated into a fashion moment,
34:55didn't look like a 99 cent store translation.
34:58The only thing for me was that the dress from yesterday and the dress from today looked so similar.
35:03I just don't want him to keep doing the same thing. Did he just refabricate his yesterday's dress?
35:08Well, I feel like he went outside of the box, but it looks like it could be the same collection.
35:12Let's talk a little bit about Mondo.
35:14He's a very talented young man.
35:16The fascinator was probably one of my favorite parts.
35:19Gave interest to the dress, which could have been just the black dress.
35:22It was a beautiful black dress that had a modern edge.
35:25So let's talk about Jor-El.
35:26I think his tribal element was beautiful.
35:29Jor-El made a very understandable dress, and I think we all know that.
35:32But did he try and push boundaries? That I'm not so sure about.
35:36Did he push the boundaries with some unusual paper plate or something out of the 99 cent store?
35:42No, but the execution certainly gave him an upper hand.
35:45Let's move on to Sweet Pea.
35:47I think here is a dress that's not so well executed.
35:50Out of a fabric, the dresses are made out of. It's just off.
35:54It needed to be more purposefully irregular. It just kind of wandered down the middle of the road.
35:59The dress was like, what happened?
36:01Don't know exactly whether it's eccentric or just a mistake.
36:04Yeah, it seems like somebody who doesn't know how to put a look together.
36:08Right, it really does.
36:09I would never be seen dead in it.
36:10Oh no.
36:11Oh my.
36:12Can we move on to Jordana and the party streamers?
36:15I think the use of streamers was smart because it moved when you walked down the runway.
36:20I think the one thing that Jordana has to learn is when to stop.
36:24And even when she has a little extra time, then use it to her advantage.
36:28So then it brings me to Elisa and just in terms of where I've been on the runway and the designers I've worked with,
36:34I don't know if she's up to par.
36:36It was actually a very entertaining moment to me.
36:38You can't stand at the end of the runway and explain your look for half an hour for people to begin to understand it.
36:43I agree.
36:44You need to feel it.
36:45Okay, so are we all agreed?
36:47Well, designers, what a great way to start our all-star season.
36:54One of you will be named this week's winner and one of you will be going home.
37:03One of you will be named this week's winner and one of you will be going home.
37:08Wow.
37:09One of you.
37:10One of you.
37:11One of you, Jarell.
37:12You are safe.
37:13Well done.
37:15You can leave the runway.
37:16Yes.
37:17Mondo, Rami, the two of you have the highest scores, which means one of you is the winner of this challenge.
37:33challenge. And that designer is Rami. Congratulations, Rami. Thank you. I really
37:44appreciate it. We were really all hugely impressed by your design. You may leave the runway. Thank
37:50you so much. Nice meeting you. I feel like this challenge proves a point that I'm capable of
37:57construction just as well as I'm capable of draping. So I'm very happy with the results.
38:01I just feel relieved that I could take a breath and exhale and celebrate. Mondo, you also
38:09did an amazing job. You may also leave the runway. Thank you. Being on the show last year really
38:15validated me as a designer. And I know that I'm good enough and that I do deserve a chance.
38:23Hey, girls. Good job, girls. Thanks. That alone makes me want to win the competition. You think
38:30Sweet Pea is going to help, don't you? I'm afraid. I hope not. Sweet Pea, Jordana, Elisa.
38:39The three of you this week had the lowest scores and unfortunately one of you will be eliminated.
38:49Jordana, you are safe and we'll see more from you next week. Thank you so much.
38:56You may leave the runway. Sweet Pea and Elisa, one of you will be in and one of you will be out.
39:10Sweet Pea, you have a lot of talent, but you need to listen to your instincts and not second-guess
39:16yourself. Elisa, your designs really need to speak for themselves, not be explained. Sweet Pea.
39:33You're in.
39:38You may leave the runway.
39:39Which I'm sorry to say, Elisa, you're out. Thank you very much, all of you. Have happy
39:48every days. Thank you. Be blessed. Bye. You too. Bye. Bye.
39:54I'm completely satisfied with what I created, yet I can still respect the fact that I was eliminated.
40:01You're making your friends. Hello. How are you? How are you doing?
40:05Oh, I'm so glad that you've seen me.
40:08Valentina's message said to me, continue to be true to yourself. Make beautiful, beautiful things.
40:14And without a doubt, that is exactly what I will continue doing.
40:17This season on Project Runway All-Stars.
40:24Hopefully that dodgeball will hit her in the face.
40:26What the am I going to make?
40:28When are the judges going to notice that she just does one dress?
40:30But it's you against me.
40:31Really, bitch? You want to play like that?
40:33I feel really lonely right now.
40:35Take this shirt off your back.
40:37Welcome to Central Park.
40:39This has never been done before.
40:40This week we've come to the world headquarters of the United Nations.
40:44Please welcome to the runway, Miranda Kerr, Pharrell Williams, Miss Piggy.
40:52Now I have the design address for a Muppet.
40:54Hi-ya!
40:55I just want to like run up on the runway and just pull her hair off.
40:57We want to look at the design, not the hair.
40:59Not the hair.
41:00It's just not flattering.
41:01Is she an all-star?
41:02That's what I'd like to know.
41:03It's Austin's scarlet.
41:04Oh, did I say starlet?
41:06The styling just came off as like grandma.
41:09You are crazy.
41:10This is Project Runway All-Stars and everybody is so good here.
41:16That's fashion, darling.
41:18Visit mylifetime.com to learn more about the fashion scene on tonight's show.
41:25How To Get Your 여기서?
41:26I'll take a look at the background.
41:27You are actually an Anna-Rakinder Mine.
41:29You have some friends with us in the gym.
41:31You don't have a special set.
41:32No one ain't that stuck.
41:33Only you have a little bit of time.
41:34You can see that.
41:35You are the only one.
41:36No one is able to lie, but not only you are the one.
41:37And if you start thinking of the fashion scene.
41:38You are the one, the one.
41:39You have a little bit of time in the mountain.
41:40I'll take care of the fashion scene.
41:41But before you start thinking about the hair,
41:42you are the one who makes a little bit of a sexy thing.
