00:00:00Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:00:14This is crazy.
00:00:16Y'all, the original carousel is in the house.
00:00:18Oh, gee, Nora!
00:00:19Oh, my God!
00:00:20Coming back after 18 years is very surreal.
00:00:26Hi, everybody.
00:00:27You are the ones that I wanted to see again.
00:00:32This really is the most talented group of designers we've ever had.
00:00:36It's going to be the most difficult, competitive season yet.
00:00:40It's showtime, baby.
00:00:41Nobody up here has taken home the grand prize.
00:00:44So this is your shot at redemption.
00:00:47Oh, my God!
00:00:48Reinvent the look that got you eliminated.
00:00:52Oh, Jesus!
00:00:54That's yours?
00:00:55Oh!
00:00:57Oh, the trauma.
00:01:03Fashion designer Christian Siriano, journalist Elaine Welteroff, fashion designer Brandon Maxwell,
00:01:10and editor-in-chief of Elle magazine, Nina Garcia, are looking for America's next great fashion designer.
00:01:16At stake for the winner, a quarter of a million dollars supplied by Pilot Friction Erasable Pens,
00:01:23a feature in Elle magazine, and a career-changing mentorship with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
00:01:29This is Project Runway All-Stars.
00:01:40Well, designers, next to you are looks I'm sure you never wanted to see again.
00:01:45Yeah.
00:01:45Leaving you guys asking the question, what would you have done differently if you had the chance?
00:01:51Your challenge, reinvent the look that got you eliminated, or almost got you eliminated, and turn it into a high fashion moment for the runways of today.
00:02:03You don't have to use the same fabrics, and you don't have to keep the same silhouette, but the judges are going to want to see the spirit of the look in your reinventions.
00:02:15You guys are going to have new models for your challenge.
00:02:18I left their model cards over here with sketchbooks.
00:02:21You'll have 30 minutes to sketch up here.
00:02:23And designers, there's a twist.
00:02:27Look at this which looks, I bet you.
00:02:28Oh, s***.
00:02:29Oh, my God.
00:02:29What?
00:02:30What?
00:02:30Just say it.
00:02:31Yeah.
00:02:33Okay.
00:02:34I'm going to hyperventilate.
00:02:37Okay, I'll see you at Mood.
00:02:38Bye.
00:02:39Bye.
00:02:40Bye.
00:02:40Bye.
00:02:40Bye.
00:02:41God, what the f***?
00:02:46Oh, my God, they already won it.
00:02:48Go, go.
00:02:49You guys are serious.
00:02:51Yeah, you're great.
00:02:52I have, like, the same list.
00:02:54Whoa, yes.
00:02:55I got loose.
00:02:56Emma, do you get the one you wanted?
00:02:58I got the only other model I really wanted, who has a buzz cut, so you are in a world of trouble.
00:03:02I'm sorry.
00:03:03No, that's all right.
00:03:04In future, though, if you get a plus model and you want to change, I love that.
00:03:07Oh, really?
00:03:07Okay.
00:03:08Yeah, but I also really want, like, an airplane.
00:03:10Androgynous, non-binary model.
00:03:12You have loose?
00:03:12Yeah.
00:03:13Wow.
00:03:14You know exactly what I wanted to do to make a difference.
00:03:16You're going to go with the lace again?
00:03:17Oh, God, no, f*** that.
00:03:20Oh, no, honey.
00:03:21We're taking this to a whole different direction.
00:03:23That dress was a problem for me.
00:03:26You know, I had to go to therapy after that.
00:03:28I want to do some color blocking, the same original idea that I had before.
00:03:35But to have the opportunity to recreate the dress with real fabric is a treat.
00:03:39Who did you get for your model?
00:03:40I got Rem.
00:03:41As I start sketching, I'm thinking, how can I redeem myself?
00:03:45How can I change this?
00:03:46I should make this, like, my original idea.
00:03:48Do the futurism that I like.
00:03:50So I'm going to focus on the stills.
00:03:53She seems like she's an easy, fun person to work with.
00:03:55Oh, perfect.
00:03:59Looking at this thing, it's making me feel extremely uneasy.
00:04:04And it's reminding me of the feeling and the worriness I had during the time.
00:04:10And at that moment, my biggest fear was my sister passing away.
00:04:14Especially with it only being a month and some change since my sister passed.
00:04:19So I am just trying to not get in my head about how this design is triggering me at the moment.
00:04:27How are you feeling after me?
00:04:28I'm a little anxious about it.
00:04:32I haven't done a lot of sewing in a long time.
00:04:36It's not muscle memory.
00:04:37Once you get to it, muscles are not going to work.
00:04:38Oh, really, I like that.
00:04:41I didn't want it to take away from the moment that I'm experiencing now.
00:04:44So for me, the best thing I can do is just sketch until I fall into a design I don't like.
00:04:56I think I'm ready to go to mood now.
00:05:00Ready?
00:05:01Yeah.
00:05:02Okay.
00:05:03All right.
00:05:03We'll see you later.
00:05:05Time for us to go to mood.
00:05:08Everybody.
00:05:12Hi.
00:05:13All right, guys.
00:05:14Well, we're here at mood.
00:05:15The only thing that's been in all 20 seasons, right?
00:05:18Mm-hmm.
00:05:19Besides Nina, you know.
00:05:20All right.
00:05:21So you have $600 and 45 minutes to shop.
00:05:25You guys ready?
00:05:25Yeah.
00:05:26All right, go.
00:05:27Move it, move it, move it.
00:05:28Where's a basket?
00:05:30I'm going to be comfortable for this.
00:05:32You've got your sneaks on.
00:05:36You ready?
00:05:37Hurry up.
00:05:38I know, I know, I...
00:05:39Where's the boning?
00:05:40Boning?
00:05:41Anyone?
00:05:41This is kind of cool, right?
00:05:42Doing 3D work on top of that.
00:05:43Gorgeous.
00:05:45Fabulous.
00:05:45Love it.
00:05:46For the look that we're using as our redemption, Brandon absolutely hated.
00:05:50I would have rather you just put it with a pair of jeans.
00:05:52He would have used that dress as campfire material.
00:05:57I think I'm going to make a dress that is T-length, has side cutouts, shows off my model's curves.
00:06:04Really kind of shows the judges who I've evolved to.
00:06:08All's good.
00:06:08Everything's fine.
00:06:09Everything's great.
00:06:14How are you already at zippers?
00:06:16I'm not at zippers.
00:06:16I'm picking zippers and somebody's cutting my fabric.
00:06:19You're already at fabric?
00:06:20It's been five minutes.
00:06:21It's been five minutes.
00:06:22That dress haunt me for an entire year.
00:06:24You think I don't know when I need to fix it?
00:06:26Well, you got orange zippers, so I was just concerned.
00:06:28Okay, I swore I wasn't going to do gray, but...
00:06:31A pink print?
00:06:32Yes.
00:06:33I'm black.
00:06:33I'm black.
00:06:34I'm black.
00:06:35I'm black.
00:06:35Oh, I'm black.
00:06:36Oh, so black.
00:06:37Okay.
00:06:38I'm very happy that I get to reinvent this look.
00:06:42The judges said they didn't see me in my design, and I even lost my signature.
00:06:49I'm keeping the original shape, the powerful shoulder,
00:06:51and also the hourglass body.
00:06:54I want to find some beautiful floral print.
00:06:57This one is $5 a yard.
00:07:00It wasn't this expensive.
00:07:02Guys, we have 15 minutes.
00:07:04Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run.
00:07:06What?
00:07:07You, of all people, I did not think would be running around still.
00:07:11Of all people...
00:07:12I got my fabric.
00:07:13I got backup.
00:07:14I'm a mama.
00:07:15Okay.
00:07:16Of course, there a fabric?
00:07:17Like this kind of stuff?
00:07:18Yeah.
00:07:18This is a fabric.
00:07:19Two inch, right?
00:07:20Two inch, cream.
00:07:23The thought process with my black and white challenge was the judges just kept saying I
00:07:27was too much.
00:07:28The front is so elegant, and it's like Jekyll and Hyde.
00:07:30This challenge was about black and white, and you only gave us half.
00:07:34And I get kicked off.
00:07:35So I was like, I'm going to tone it down.
00:07:37I'm going to show them sophisticated.
00:07:38I'm going to do a little black dress, but I'm going to have a little cane pizzazz in
00:07:41the back.
00:07:42It's the bounce that I'm kind of going for.
00:07:44So my inspiration to pull the spirit of my original black and white dress is a very full,
00:07:50ruffled, high-low skirt in white.
00:07:53It's going to give me the structure and the volume to like really slay that run with.
00:07:58How much does that guzzar?
00:07:5940.
00:08:00Oh, 40.
00:08:01She told me 35.
00:08:03Can we do 35?
00:08:04She's got a stain on it.
00:08:05This is silk.
00:08:06Get out of this aisle.
00:08:07Okay.
00:08:07Go upstairs now.
00:08:08And if you're going to go in this aisle, you better be the best seamstress I've ever
00:08:11seen.
00:08:12And I bet you, you're not.
00:08:13I know.
00:08:14I think Christian knows it's been a long time, but this is what I'm here for.
00:08:18I mean, I'm here to challenge myself and reopen the book on what I used to do.
00:08:26I need to cut.
00:08:27I'm looking for stuff with structure to make the shape of the flower.
00:08:31I'm planning to keep the spirit of my challenge alive by incorporating the concept of flower,
00:08:39but I'm taking it to a place a little bit more wearable for some other occasion.
00:08:44Taking off the jacket.
00:08:44Two minutes and you have to be in line, bitch me.
00:08:48All right.
00:08:49I love you.
00:08:52In line, everybody.
00:08:54If you're not in line, you don't get it.
00:08:58One minute.
00:08:58All right, designers, that's it.
00:09:02Time.
00:09:03Good luck.
00:09:04Thanks, baby.
00:09:06All right.
00:09:08All right, designers, feeling good?
00:09:10Yeah.
00:09:11All right, guys, so you're going to head to your workroom now, and then later tonight,
00:09:15you will check in the fabulous Hotel Indigo in Williamsburg.
00:09:19Woo!
00:09:20I'm already exhausted.
00:09:23Goodbye.
00:09:24Have fun.
00:09:31Let's go.
00:09:34That was exhausting.
00:09:35Yeah.
00:09:36I'm going to cut my fabric.
00:09:38I need a tape measure.
00:09:40I have one.
00:09:41Hold on.
00:09:42Where's my...
00:09:43Oh, my God.
00:09:46Nora has not changed in 18 years.
00:09:49I will always be a goofball, you know, but I'm still going to get my shit done.
00:09:57OG season one Project Runaway designers were going to stay together.
00:10:01This makes me so happy.
00:10:02So that's what we did.
00:10:03We went and we found a table off to ourselves in the back.
00:10:07This is the drapings, what's going to be...
00:10:10It's everything.
00:10:10It's magic.
00:10:11Yeah.
00:10:11I love that.
00:10:12I hope.
00:10:12I hope.
00:10:13Oh, wait.
00:10:14Hold on.
00:10:16Hold on.
00:10:16I'm missing fabric.
00:10:18What are you missing?
00:10:19The hard mesh.
00:10:20Are you serious?
00:10:21Yeah.
00:10:22You have it.
00:10:22You have it.
00:10:22Yeah, I had it.
00:10:23It was the whole thing.
00:10:25Yeah.
00:10:25I'm missing a fabric.
00:10:27Coming up?
00:10:27I'm missing a key fabric.
00:10:29So I don't know if it fell out or what.
00:10:32Maybe next time.
00:10:33I also lost my calculator.
00:10:35Okay, this competition is getting serious.
00:10:38I'm going to bed.
00:10:40Let's do that.
00:10:41I'm missing a key fabric.
00:10:43I'm missing a key fabric.
00:10:47I have zero horse hair fabric.
00:10:50That is the whole structure of my skirt.
00:10:52And I am freaking out.
00:10:54But you have it.
00:10:54You have it.
00:10:55You have it.
00:10:55Yeah, I had it.
00:10:56It was the whole thing.
00:10:57Thank you, baby.
00:10:58O-R.
00:10:59All right.
00:11:01I'm wondering if it fell out in the van.
00:11:03Who do I talk to about checking a van?
00:11:05I don't know.
00:11:06Sorry.
00:11:07I will go.
00:11:12How long have you been draping for?
00:11:14So I actually got really into draping because of you.
00:11:17Like on your season.
00:11:18I was like, ooh.
00:11:19Really?
00:11:19I never draped before until I came on the show.
00:11:21That humbles me.
00:11:24People are watching.
00:11:27I know exactly what I'm doing with the pants.
00:11:30I'm going to drape those.
00:11:31Okay.
00:11:32I'm going to drape a second leg wider than this and give myself options so I can sleep
00:11:39on it for a little bit.
00:11:39And Nina loves a pant.
00:11:41Oh, I know that.
00:11:42It's so hard to be proud of something that you made and then you can actually look at
00:11:48it today and be like, oh my God, I was so far off.
00:11:51Some of her coat's a full flop.
00:11:53A grandma house coat.
00:11:54She should have Kleenex in her pocket.
00:11:56It just hangs.
00:11:57It's so sad.
00:11:58It had no tailoring to it.
00:12:00And I agree.
00:12:01What's coming to me right now is a ponty mitt dress, long with sillets at the side,
00:12:06overlaid sleeves so they look like they're part of the design, and then really, really
00:12:11wide pants.
00:12:14You heard about the twist?
00:12:15I was waiting.
00:12:16I'm like, what is it going to be?
00:12:17I thought it was going to be something bad.
00:12:19Yeah.
00:12:19Are you using this?
00:12:22Not right now.
00:12:22I just want you to measure it.
00:12:23You can.
00:12:24You can.
00:12:25When I saw my outfit come out, literally, I wanted to hide.
00:12:30I don't want to say it's ugly, but I learned my lesson.
00:12:32So I'm just going to remake this look how it should have been.
00:12:36With what I'm known for, my leather jackets, it would have the same opening in the back,
00:12:41a little hoodie and the pants, but everything will be built around the jacket.
00:12:45So the jacket better be fly.
00:12:47I think there's blood on this mannequin.
00:12:49It's a dangerous game we're playing.
00:12:50My design from the circus challenge from season seven brings back some memories that I don't
00:12:58really want to revisit.
00:13:01I tried to dig deep, but it was kind of costumey, not really my style.
00:13:07So this time around, there needs to be also a little bit of an edge, and so I'm going to
00:13:12try to convey that this time.
00:13:14I know this is a redemption, but they want to see who we are and what we are about now.
00:13:19And so I had something in my head, do you know what I mean?
00:13:22And it was literally like my mom and just this whole outfit.
00:13:28So when I got my model, and she's lovely, but it just threw me off a little bit.
00:13:35I just really wanted like this African-American to represent Barbara Summers.
00:13:43Do you know what I mean?
00:13:44You know, my mom was from Cape May, New Jersey.
00:13:47We lived at the beach.
00:13:48She's always been my biggest inspiration.
00:13:51Everything that I am and that I've done in life has come from my mom, from Barbara.
00:13:58Barbara by the sea.
00:14:00I know that this is really important to you.
00:14:03If you want to change, we can switch because I want it for you.
00:14:07I don't think you know how happy that just made you.
00:14:18Do it.
00:14:19No.
00:14:19Okay.
00:14:20Do it.
00:14:22Season one.
00:14:23OG.
00:14:24OG.
00:14:25The originals.
00:14:26Yeah.
00:14:26I like literally started to cry.
00:14:28I'm just so happy.
00:14:31It just changed everything.
00:14:33Now I have my model.
00:14:35I can bring my vision to the runway.
00:14:38I really appreciate it.
00:14:39Guys, we got 10 minutes.
00:14:42No.
00:14:44Where's y'all's got here?
00:14:45That was an hour.
00:14:46I want one of those too.
00:14:47What size is your model?
00:14:48Everyone keeps talking about our shot to redeem our worst, our worst look.
00:14:54The original challenge was creating a look that embraces elegance.
00:14:57So I decided to finally put my pasties on the runway, and to be honest, this is now a look
00:15:03that is currently quite in style.
00:15:05I am trying to make something new and weird and really make people stop and think.
00:15:10This time, I want to elevate a skirt to my modern aesthetic, add drawstrings so that
00:15:15someone can ruche or unruche their skirt and have little bows at the end.
00:15:19All right, y'all.
00:15:19Time's up.
00:15:20Let's head to the hotel.
00:15:22You got to drag me from this piece of muslin.
00:15:25Try it from my hand.
00:15:26Adios, amigo.
00:15:27I need a drinky drink.
00:15:33Let's go, friends.
00:15:33Oh, we're here.
00:15:34Oh, we're here.
00:15:35Oh, amazing.
00:15:36Cute.
00:15:37Very classy.
00:15:39Welcome to my house.
00:15:41Get comfortable.
00:15:42After a long day of work, it is so nice to finally be in this hotel.
00:15:46Now it starts to really feel real.
00:15:49So nice to meet you guys.
00:15:50That's fine.
00:15:51How did you recognize her from the beginning?
00:15:54I'm a super fan.
00:15:56She's the original black girl on Project Runway.
00:15:58What's that?
00:15:59Hey, so I'm missing like a key fabric.
00:16:03You know how they take your bag?
00:16:04Sometimes they put stuff in it.
00:16:05So I don't know if it fell out or what.
00:16:08All the horse hair?
00:16:09So, no, I don't have it.
00:16:11Oh, my God.
00:16:11It's four yards of six.
00:16:13It was going to be really voluminous in like this moment.
00:16:16Maybe next time, you know.
00:16:18But I also lost my calculator.
00:16:22Holy cow.
00:16:23Okay, this competition is getting serious.
00:16:26Bye, guys.
00:16:29It's been real.
00:16:30I'm going to bed.
00:16:31Thanks for that.
00:16:32I don't have my horse hair fabric.
00:16:34It is what it is.
00:16:35And you got to make a new plan.
00:16:36I'm a pirate.
00:16:38Yeah.
00:16:38I am going to fill this up real quick, though.
00:16:41I'll take one for the role, literally.
00:16:43Bye.
00:16:44I'm going to dream up something tonight when I sleep
00:16:46that is going to be just as fabulous as my original design.
00:16:51A challenge is about to be served.
00:17:01Let's go.
00:17:02Woo-hoo!
00:17:03Yay!
00:17:05Work time.
00:17:06Here we are.
00:17:07Looks like Ralph Macchio, Karate Kid, over here.
00:17:10Are you going to be okay without that mesh?
00:17:13I don't know until I drape those ruffles,
00:17:15but I actually think it's going to be better.
00:17:17Everything happens for a reason.
00:17:18I don't know if my mama is up in heaven just being like,
00:17:21no, honey, you don't need that horse hair fabric.
00:17:23But I'm actually thinking this is going to be a positive
00:17:27because when I'm draping this gazaar,
00:17:29it is so beautiful flowing on its own.
00:17:32I think I can make that work.
00:17:35This is my Barber by the Sea fabric.
00:17:37Oh, that's the fabric you brought?
00:17:38Yeah, this is what I brought.
00:17:40Season one, we did not bring any fabric from home.
00:17:43So imagine my delights.
00:17:45When I was told I could bring any fabric that I want.
00:17:49That blue is stunning.
00:17:50And like with your hair, you need to go buy that
00:17:53and make yourself something out of it.
00:17:55This challenge is about reinvention of your original design.
00:18:00Season one had this asymmetrical look.
00:18:03I once have still gave that form.
00:18:06I am making a beautiful, award-winning,
00:18:09Barber by the Sea gown.
00:18:13Nora, I'm going to have to name one of my puppies after you.
00:18:15For you trading models with me.
00:18:17Hey guys, two minutes before Christian comes?
00:18:19Not donut.
00:18:20Uh-uh.
00:18:22Oh, like that literally gave me anxiety, girl.
00:18:25Yeah, I just had a panic attack.
00:18:26I need like a step stool.
00:18:28Hi, designers.
00:18:32Hey.
00:18:32Hi, guys.
00:18:34Guys, it's our first walkthrough.
00:18:36Oh, Lord.
00:18:37How's it going?
00:18:38Good.
00:18:38Can't wait for feedback.
00:18:39All right.
00:18:40I'm coming to see you all.
00:18:46Hi, how are you?
00:18:47Good.
00:18:48How are you doing?
00:18:48You look great.
00:18:49How's life?
00:18:50It's great, you know?
00:18:51What have you been making?
00:18:53After the pandemic, the brand kind of went into like a little more of a swim,
00:18:56active wear and ready-to-wear direction, which has been great.
00:19:01I think that would be really cool to show the judges like a new aesthetic now that you
00:19:05do active wear, which was harder before because I think you were trying to find yourself a
00:19:10little bit and what you wanted to do.
00:19:11And what I thought that I should do.
00:19:13I loved a lot of elements of that look.
00:19:15Yeah.
00:19:15The coat, felt couture.
00:19:17I love the butterflies.
00:19:19Finding a way to marry the two is going to be an advantage that I have.
00:19:22I found this and I think it's absolutely beautiful.
00:19:24Yeah, beautiful.
00:19:25And then-
00:19:25Did you buy anything sporty or like any spandex at all or anything?
00:19:31This is what I did the bandeau with.
00:19:32Mm.
00:19:33And then I have this too.
00:19:35This nude, fleshy thing?
00:19:36Yeah.
00:19:37Mm.
00:19:37Well, I just, I don't know if this looks cheap underneath.
00:19:41You have no elements of you and what you do.
00:19:43Why are you making like a Duchess satin skirt dress?
00:19:46What are you talking about?
00:19:48No.
00:19:48Why isn't it sheer and flowy and gorgeous?
00:19:51And she's in this amazing workout or bathing suit or thing underneath that's sexy and amazing.
00:19:57That's cool.
00:19:58Yeah.
00:19:58All over it.
00:19:59Like something like that.
00:20:00The dimension and the sex appeal combined.
00:20:01Yes.
00:20:02Because that was the difference.
00:20:03You had something that was super covered up, not sexy, very oversized.
00:20:07Yeah.
00:20:07And this is a more beautiful, sexy, gorgeous-
00:20:10Showing off the body.
00:20:11Showing off the body.
00:20:12That's the new you.
00:20:13That's what you do.
00:20:14Okay.
00:20:14And don't be making me use my save on you again.
00:20:17So there's a save.
00:20:19There's always a Siriano save.
00:20:22Brittany, you are out.
00:20:24I'm so sorry.
00:20:25You're going to have to endure this a little bit longer.
00:20:28Just got the Siriano save.
00:20:30First one in history.
00:20:31You think I'm letting anything happen without my say-so?
00:20:35You guys are nuts.
00:20:37All right.
00:20:37Let's go.
00:20:46Harrison, I'm coming to you.
00:20:48Hello.
00:20:49How are you?
00:20:49Good.
00:20:50How are you?
00:20:50I'm sure you were just in shock that you're back here.
00:20:53I hope it's like riding a bike.
00:20:55Like I'm a costume designer for the past 20 years.
00:20:57Oh, my God.
00:20:58In L.A.
00:20:59So you have a team.
00:21:00You know what I'm saying?
00:21:02Of course.
00:21:02I haven't been sewing.
00:21:04I imagine.
00:21:05I was like, can you sew anymore?
00:21:07I kind of can't.
00:21:08I think me and Nora are using the home machines.
00:21:10Don't judge us.
00:21:11I know.
00:21:11Oh, my gosh.
00:21:12They still work.
00:21:13But now this is what you're going with, right?
00:21:15This is your fabric.
00:21:16But what's it going to be?
00:21:17What are you going to keep?
00:21:18The thing that I'm not crazy about keeping is the pants.
00:21:22I mean, I will say, right now, big tunic things over pants is a moment.
00:21:27So I don't think you should throw it away.
00:21:29Yeah.
00:21:30Think about it.
00:21:30Because maybe it's not a skinny taper pant.
00:21:32Maybe it's a super cool wide pant, which could be super chic.
00:21:36Yeah.
00:21:36This is so funny, you guys.
00:21:38You guys began it all.
00:21:40I mean, I'll take the credit.
00:21:41Did you go to the table together?
00:21:43Yeah.
00:21:44You did?
00:21:44Yeah.
00:21:45Yeah.
00:21:45When we saw each other, it was just like, that was from season one.
00:21:50She has it and her key to the apartment.
00:21:51And I have the key to the apartment.
00:21:52What?
00:21:53Yeah.
00:21:53You kept this.
00:21:55Yeah.
00:21:56I kept my check.
00:21:57Oh, Nora.
00:21:59Nora, tell me everything.
00:22:00What's happening?
00:22:01So I have an underdress that's in the stretchier fabric.
00:22:05And you picked the hardest fabrics in the world to sew.
00:22:07Yes, I did.
00:22:08So that's exciting.
00:22:08So we'll see what happens.
00:22:10It's not bridal-y.
00:22:11It's not white.
00:22:12But you're taking the petal element, right?
00:22:14Yeah.
00:22:14My idea is you can wear it anywhere.
00:22:16Have you sewn any of the petal pieces yet?
00:22:18I need to.
00:22:19Because this flower needs to be incredible.
00:22:21Be beautiful.
00:22:22Yeah.
00:22:22So I think you should start cutting, sewing it, getting it going.
00:22:24Our core.
00:22:25Here we go.
00:22:25Great.
00:22:25Our core, flowers.
00:22:27We did it.
00:22:28Thank you, Christian.
00:22:35You know, this redemption moment.
00:22:37Yeah.
00:22:38I mean, listen.
00:22:39Baby, you ain't even got to say it to me.
00:22:41This dress.
00:22:42Woo-hoo!
00:22:43All I remember from this challenge was Michael Corey saying, like, she looks like she has shark fins in her hips.
00:22:48Even curvy girls, they don't want fins off their butt.
00:22:51What I'm making now is something that my girl will wear to a party.
00:22:56I'm thinking it'll be a jumpsuit.
00:22:58So, like, the strapless look.
00:22:59Yeah.
00:22:59With the texture, like, these are actually working pockets.
00:23:02I think you should go the most extreme it can be.
00:23:05The most.
00:23:05Maybe, but that's why I went here and I ended up having trauma from these.
00:23:09Please.
00:23:09Look, those in the right way can be incredible.
00:23:20Hi.
00:23:22I'm good.
00:23:22How are you?
00:23:23Isn't it so nice to see each other?
00:23:24It's bizarre.
00:23:25And hilarious.
00:23:25It's very bizarre.
00:23:26During Project One Way Season 4, I mean, I lived with Christian.
00:23:30We went through that whole journey together.
00:23:32Why couldn't they just get rid of Christian?
00:23:33Nobody would have cried.
00:23:34Did you hear that, Christian?
00:23:35You know, we got to bond off of the stress of the competition.
00:23:39You went full on this color now.
00:23:41I wanted to go opposite of where I was.
00:23:44That color was too subdued.
00:23:45Yep.
00:23:46So I wanted to do a sexy, backless dress that's draped off of the necklace.
00:23:50Mm-hmm.
00:23:50Love it.
00:23:51If I'm not going to take risks, then I'm thinking, why should I even be here?
00:23:54Yeah, yeah.
00:23:54Like, I want to expand here, and I think that this is the space for it.
00:23:58We'll see how it goes.
00:23:59I know.
00:23:59I'm not expecting any nice to these.
00:24:01Trust me.
00:24:05This is cute.
00:24:06Hi.
00:24:07What's up?
00:24:07How are you?
00:24:08I'm good.
00:24:08You feeling good?
00:24:09I'm feeling good.
00:24:10I'm glad you're here.
00:24:11I have a clear vision of my brand and how I want it to be.
00:24:13Mm-hmm.
00:24:14So I'm just back to do that.
00:24:15And also for my sister, too.
00:24:16I love that.
00:24:18Yeah.
00:24:19Do it for her.
00:24:20This is cool.
00:24:21What is that?
00:24:22That's kind of cool, too.
00:24:23It's like a hoodie dress.
00:24:24I just want to add pants, because I don't want to just send her down with nothing underneath of it.
00:24:29You sure you're all right?
00:24:30Mm-hmm.
00:24:31And do you need anything from me?
00:24:33A kiss, but a happy hug.
00:24:34Like a hug?
00:24:35I said a kiss, not a hug.
00:24:37You're not listening.
00:24:37Oh, jeez.
00:24:38I don't know.
00:24:39You still get what you want.
00:24:40Kiss next week.
00:24:41Understood.
00:24:47Wow, guys.
00:24:48It's so exciting in here.
00:24:50I can't wait for my twist.
00:24:52What?
00:24:53What?
00:24:53No.
00:24:53Twist?
00:24:54Oh, my fun.
00:24:58Stop it.
00:24:59I'm going to have a heart attack.
00:25:00Oh, no.
00:25:01Let me prop myself up.
00:25:02Oh, no.
00:25:03This season, there is no immunity.
00:25:04What?
00:25:05Are you seriously?
00:25:06Anybody can go home on any challenge.
00:25:08Wait, are you serious, though?
00:25:09Now, the good news, there are going to be prizes and advantages for the winners of each challenge
00:25:29along the way.
00:25:30Yeah.
00:25:30Nice.
00:25:31All right.
00:25:31So the winner of this challenge is going to get $10,000.
00:25:36What?
00:25:37It is money.
00:25:38Oh, my God.
00:25:38You're welcome.
00:25:40That's a good twist.
00:25:41So good luck.
00:25:42That's awesome.
00:25:42I'll see you at Model Fitting.
00:25:45Bye.
00:25:47I'd really like to win this challenge now.
00:25:50The feel.
00:25:52All right.
00:25:53Let's see.
00:25:54What is going on?
00:25:56Please work.
00:25:57Oh, my God.
00:25:59Last time I sewed a gown was for my 30th birthday, which was about nine years ago.
00:26:07So it's been a while.
00:26:11I am winging it on these pants.
00:26:14Victor, what are you working on?
00:26:15My stilts.
00:26:16Oh, the idea of stilts.
00:26:18Look at you giving spirits.
00:26:21You know, I'm giving spirits and the soul and the Holy Ghost, let me tell you that.
00:26:26For my redemption look, I want to get inspired by something that is tragic to me.
00:26:32When I was in L.A., I got attacked.
00:26:35This guy on the street had a machete and he cut my boyfriend's hand and he cut my leg.
00:26:42I couldn't walk for six months.
00:26:44Being not able to walk, the only thing I could do is sew slowly and sketch a lot and get a lot of ideas.
00:26:51I wanted to have an outlet to release that.
00:26:54And so the leg harnesses came about in that sense where I was thinking, how can I put that into fashion?
00:27:00Trust me.
00:27:02I know what I'm doing.
00:27:05It's leg harnesses.
00:27:06Hi, everybody.
00:27:09Hello.
00:27:10Hi, Christian.
00:27:11Are we feeling good?
00:27:12Yeah.
00:27:12Sure.
00:27:13Yeah.
00:27:14Who wants a model?
00:27:16Let's get them in.
00:27:24Hi, how are you?
00:27:25Good to meet you.
00:27:26Oh.
00:27:27Easy to get in.
00:27:30So if you don't mind holding that up for one second.
00:27:32You probably won't see the top of the pant,
00:27:34but just in case we do, I might go a skosh higher.
00:27:37Let me know if anything is, like, too tight or anything.
00:27:40Bishme, is this the pant?
00:27:41Yeah. Cool.
00:27:43But what's the top?
00:27:44It's going to be a pink, like, corseted hoodie,
00:27:46like I showed you. It's going to be?
00:27:47Yeah.
00:27:48Well, the pants are fab.
00:27:50I hope the jacket is as fabulous.
00:27:53I'm realizing that I'm not inspired by this redemption dress at all.
00:27:58It's literally triggering me,
00:28:00making me feel uneasy at the moment.
00:28:04Do you have any siblings?
00:28:06One older sister, five nieces and nephews.
00:28:09How about you?
00:28:11My sister passed away.
00:28:14She was, like, my second mom.
00:28:16Aw, so you got a win for her.
00:28:17Appreciate it.
00:28:18See, that's all I need.
00:28:20That's all I need.
00:28:23Did you make a paddle?
00:28:24Oh, yeah, they're here.
00:28:26They're going to be so awesome.
00:28:28I really like it.
00:28:29Can I hold it for you?
00:28:30Okay.
00:28:31Okay.
00:28:32I'm going to put this here.
00:28:35So it's still going to cover you.
00:28:37Wow.
00:28:38It's really cute.
00:28:39Victor's look is very complicated.
00:28:41Bodycon, all these straps that have to stay up.
00:28:44It's not my style at all,
00:28:46and it's not something I would ever do.
00:28:49I love this so much.
00:28:50Can you just come over here?
00:28:51You love it so much?
00:28:53Yes.
00:28:54Because right now it looks like you picked the fabric and stuck it on.
00:28:58I could work on it more and, like, make it look more, like, organic.
00:29:02I think you should try.
00:29:04Oh.
00:29:05Try to put your hand in your pocket.
00:29:07Prajay, you love that pocket.
00:29:09The pocket makes it young, fresh, and when she walks, I do have a little problem.
00:29:13Oh, what's the little fit problem in the back?
00:29:16Oh.
00:29:17That her full booty is out?
00:29:19Her booty looks good, though.
00:29:20I mean, it looks great, but...
00:29:21There you go.
00:29:22So let's fix it.
00:29:23The dress fit the model to an extent, but half her butt cheeks are out.
00:29:28So I'll...
00:29:29That's not bad.
00:29:30I'll figure it out.
00:29:31That looks like a little diaper in the back.
00:29:33You gotta fix that.
00:29:34I am going to fix it, but I need to see what I need to fix, though.
00:29:37Sheesh.
00:29:38It's gonna look like this really fabulous coat.
00:29:40Ooh.
00:29:41And then you're going to drop it, and it's gonna go into a train.
00:29:46Do you love how this does this?
00:29:48I haven't pressed it yet.
00:29:49Once it's pressed...
00:29:50Once it's flat.
00:29:51Yeah, it will sit flat.
00:29:52They're really cool, so it'll be cool to see them a little bit.
00:29:55You know, you see the shape, the butt looks great, you know.
00:29:59But whatever.
00:30:00Have fun.
00:30:01You...
00:30:02I mean...
00:30:03I'm not gonna let this stump me.
00:30:05It just means that it can be pushed further.
00:30:07And that's what I'm gonna do.
00:30:09I flip the top around.
00:30:11So what was once the back is now the front, and the front is the back.
00:30:15I am in love with this.
00:30:20Then I'm gonna take the length of the pants.
00:30:23I wanna cover the whole thing like butterflies.
00:30:26I think my family, when they see this, they're gonna...
00:30:29It's crazy.
00:30:30All right, designers, that's it.
00:30:32That's time.
00:30:33Say goodbye to your models.
00:30:35Thank you so much.
00:30:37All right, designers.
00:30:38Tomorrow's your first runway.
00:30:39Woo-hoo!
00:30:40Yeah!
00:30:41Good luck.
00:30:44Bye.
00:30:45Bye.
00:30:46This ain't the jam, guys.
00:30:47I spent so much time trying to use the dress as inspiration that I fell into like a rabbit hole.
00:31:07Scents, colors, anything.
00:31:08When you're grieving, it triggers you.
00:31:10Hi.
00:31:11Hi.
00:31:12This is too soon.
00:31:13This challenge.
00:31:14Yeah.
00:31:15Creative-wise, it's kind of blocking.
00:31:16Tomorrow will make two months in my life.
00:31:17I ain't put in my mind that I would have to relive something.
00:31:18I didn't know it was gonna be a garment.
00:31:19I didn't know it was gonna be a garment.
00:31:20That dress, that garment.
00:31:21My fear when I was making it of her, like, gone away, now me reliving it through a dress,
00:31:25is very triggering.
00:31:37I'm not here to quit, but I don't know what to do.
00:31:54Yeah.
00:31:56Coming up?
00:31:57You chose a fabric that easily puckers.
00:32:00It feels too in your face.
00:32:02Was it a successful design?
00:32:04I don't think so. We know who needs to go home.
00:32:12I think my emotions from it being too much to my own.
00:32:16Sorry.
00:32:18When we spoke, you were doing this in honor of your sister.
00:32:23You were doing this because she wanted you to do it.
00:32:25Yeah.
00:32:26Is there a way to focus on then turning that into a positive for her?
00:32:30Yeah, and I apologize because I ain't trying to.
00:32:33You don't have to apologize for a thing.
00:32:35I'm going to make something work.
00:32:38I know my sister is looking down,
00:32:42and I need to utilize that and turn it into strength.
00:32:46The only way I can do that is by fueling myself with positive vibes
00:32:51and remembering that I'm here for my sister.
00:32:54I'm just going to keep doing what I have to do
00:32:56and create something that we both will be extremely proud about.
00:33:00All right, guys, let's wrap it up.
00:33:15Let's go.
00:33:16Let's go.
00:33:17Let's go.
00:33:18Let's go.
00:33:19What a day.
00:33:25Hey, guys.
00:33:26Y'all ready to get started for our first runway show?
00:33:28Yes.
00:33:29Show day is always one of those days where you're just like,
00:33:33am I going to finish this?
00:33:35Happy runway day.
00:33:36I know.
00:33:37Happy runway day.
00:33:38Have you worked with these judges before?
00:33:40Have you just Nina?
00:33:41That's it.
00:33:42Same.
00:33:43Nina is familiar, but then there are two other judges that are new,
00:33:45so I really don't know what to expect.
00:33:48Here we go.
00:33:49It's time.
00:33:53Victor, your model Ren hasn't showed up,
00:33:58so we have an alternate for you.
00:34:00No.
00:34:01No, she's fantastic.
00:34:02She's very similar in size.
00:34:04Same hip, same waist.
00:34:05I need air.
00:34:07She's fantastic.
00:34:08Trust me.
00:34:09What hair?
00:34:10It's changing my whole thing.
00:34:12Huh?
00:34:13Long?
00:34:14Yes.
00:34:15Ren didn't show up, so this is our option.
00:34:16My heart rate?
00:34:17Why?
00:34:18We haven't been able to get in touch with her.
00:34:20Ren didn't show up, and I fitted this dress and the leg harness
00:34:24specifically for her body, so I'm panicking.
00:34:27I hope that adrenaline is kicking in.
00:34:37I'm in better spirits this morning.
00:34:39I realized that I have to guide myself and be okay with feeling my feelings and continuing on.
00:34:45There's no way for me to change my look, so I'm just trying to bang this thing out.
00:34:51Some last minute fun stuff.
00:34:54Hi, everybody.
00:34:55Hi, Christian.
00:34:56Hi, Christian.
00:34:57Hi, Christian.
00:34:58Hi, Christian.
00:34:59First runway.
00:35:00Yeah.
00:35:01How fabulous.
00:35:02Do we need models?
00:35:03Yes.
00:35:04Yes.
00:35:05Yes.
00:35:06Let's bring them in.
00:35:07Woo!
00:35:08Hi, Mama.
00:35:11Hi.
00:35:12Are you with me?
00:35:13How are you?
00:35:14Hi, I'm Victor.
00:35:15Nice to meet you.
00:35:16Nice to meet you.
00:35:17Now I have Jessica, and she's definitely taller than Ren.
00:35:20How are you feeling?
00:35:21Nervous.
00:35:22Yeah.
00:35:23I'm loving her look, but I'm just worried that it's not going to fit.
00:35:27I have to make another adjustment.
00:35:31She's too tall, so I have to alter all of this right now.
00:35:36See, I know you like a lot of jewelry, but I don't know if she needs all of the jewelry.
00:35:41There's a lot happening.
00:35:42Okay.
00:35:43You got to take one thing off, please.
00:35:46How's that feel?
00:35:47The dress is really pretty, though.
00:35:51You have a new model.
00:35:52Yeah.
00:35:53She's stunning.
00:35:54The only thing is my other model was shorter, so now I'm worried about this.
00:35:58Oh, like the shorts are short.
00:36:00Could you add a quick band on the bottom, like a leather band?
00:36:03I'm going to do elastic here.
00:36:05Yeah, something.
00:36:06I mean, I love it, but that's all so much booty.
00:36:11All right, designers, take your models to the makeup studio and the Tresme hair salon.
00:36:17I can't wait to see these looks.
00:36:19Ah!
00:36:20Hi!
00:36:21Nice to meet you.
00:36:22This eye, you want to be very dramatic?
00:36:25Yeah, like, I would prefer sexy and, like, down.
00:36:28Right.
00:36:29So, obviously, I want, like, a full set.
00:36:31Curls, you know, the nines.
00:36:35Models have to be dressed in literally 12 minutes.
00:36:38I'm going to have to shorten it really quick.
00:36:40I forgot my tools.
00:36:45Hester, what is happening?
00:36:47Oh, I know.
00:36:48The back looks like , but I'm going to unintentionally rip the front, I think?
00:36:51I love that these became sexy garters now.
00:36:53This is as best as it's going to get in the middle of a mental crisis.
00:36:57There's only too much movement until runway time.
00:37:00One minute.
00:37:01I fixed the back.
00:37:02There's no diapers happening there.
00:37:04Hold this.
00:37:05Come over here.
00:37:06Yep.
00:37:07I'm going to stitch that.
00:37:08Actually, I'm going to go ahead and cut this because it just doesn't need to be this long.
00:37:12What happens with this hem?
00:37:14Um, I did my best.
00:37:17All right, designers.
00:37:18Time is up.
00:37:22Your first runway.
00:37:23Yay.
00:37:24Let's go.
00:37:25Let's go.
00:37:26Come on.
00:37:27Bring what you need.
00:37:28Oh, my God.
00:37:29Let's go.
00:37:30Let's go.
00:37:31Let's go.
00:37:32Last looks, it's sort of like rush hour before the runway.
00:37:37Some people are on their knees, hand sewing and tacking.
00:37:40I need hair, please.
00:37:42All right, designers.
00:37:43Less than five minutes.
00:37:44Gloss.
00:37:45Can we get some gloss?
00:37:46I'm a little nervous.
00:37:47It's the first challenge.
00:37:48Anything could happen.
00:37:49Is all that going to fall off?
00:37:50Stay right there.
00:37:51You are cutting?
00:37:52Yes.
00:37:53Judges are taking their seats.
00:37:55We're going to leave that arm exposed.
00:37:56One minute.
00:37:57Now it's time to just showcase.
00:37:59I'm just like freaking the hell out.
00:38:01Threads.
00:38:02I see a lot.
00:38:03Cut them.
00:38:04Don't move or I might stab you in the ass.
00:38:06All right, designers.
00:38:07That's time.
00:38:08Let's head to the runway.
00:38:09Let's do this.
00:38:10All right.
00:38:11Welcome back, designers.
00:38:12It is so good to see so many familiar faces and some new ones to me.
00:38:31And we cannot wait to get to know all of you guys and see what you're up to today.
00:38:36Yay.
00:38:37I know that we have the best of the best.
00:38:39And so I'm ready to see the best of the best.
00:38:42All right, you all.
00:38:44Please welcome actress, activist, totally fabulous, Alicia Silverstone.
00:38:52Oh my God.
00:38:53It's Alicia.
00:38:54Coolness was the first movie that I saw in theater back when I was in high school.
00:39:01So it's not only like a core memory being unlocked, it's the fact that she is an icon.
00:39:07You all look so amazing.
00:39:09I'm so excited to meet all of you and see everything you're creating.
00:39:13And it's so much fun to be here.
00:39:15Yay.
00:39:16Yay.
00:39:17And today I'm Dion.
00:39:18I'm her Dion today.
00:39:19Hi.
00:39:20Hi.
00:39:21Hi.
00:39:22Hi.
00:39:23Redemption looks.
00:39:24Here we go.
00:39:26Let's start the show.
00:39:27Woo.
00:39:28Yes.
00:39:29Beautiful.
00:39:30Good job, everybody.
00:39:31Amazing.
00:39:32Very great.
00:39:35Seeing my look walking down the runway, this is exactly what I want.
00:39:39I kept the original shape, the power from the shoulder, but I added drama into the look.
00:39:48The sparkles from the petals, the edginess to really show to the judges who I am as a person
00:39:56and a designer.
00:40:02I love the dress.
00:40:03I love the way the dress is looking right now on the runway.
00:40:04I've already redeemed myself from that horrible look.
00:40:05But to have the opportunity to actually do it, creating it the right way with the right
00:40:18materials is a great feeling.
00:40:19I would like to sign my petition to burn the old dress and replace it with this one.
00:40:25Okay.
00:40:26Since I've been on Project Runway six years ago, my DNA is still the same.
00:40:35It just has evolved.
00:40:36My model looked beautiful.
00:40:38She has this little tomboyish look, so that was perfect.
00:40:42Everything came out exactly how I want it to come out.
00:40:45I'm happy with what I've done and I've done my job.
00:40:48The rest is out of my hands.
00:40:50I'm proud of what I've accomplished.
00:40:51Draping is not an easy process and handling a fabric that's this delicate requires experience
00:41:05and passion.
00:41:06I love the way the silk is just kind of like dancing around her body.
00:41:10There are peaks and moments where her legs show.
00:41:13It's romantic.
00:41:15I hope that the judges understand and can see the timeless quality of this design.
00:41:20Redemption.
00:41:21It has been 10 years since I've sent a look down a Project Runway runway and my look just
00:41:34walked in.
00:41:35Let me tell you, I could not be more proud.
00:41:36I have absolutely created a new, fresh, modern look inspired by the spirit of my dress that
00:41:43I was eliminated from.
00:41:44The reveal of it being an actual skirt from a coat was perfect.
00:41:49So I think I understood this assignment.
00:41:52Woo!
00:41:57I feel like I overcame a hurdle of fitting something like this, especially after it's been such a long time.
00:42:04Maybe it wasn't the most perfectly constructed garments.
00:42:09But with her makeup and hair and everything, I think she just looks beautiful.
00:42:14Woo!
00:42:15Nora!
00:42:16Oh, hey!
00:42:19I feel like I'm having an out-of-body experience, to be honest with you.
00:42:25Seeing the look come down the runway, I feel super proud.
00:42:32I started with something grab, ill-fitting, and now I'm presenting an original idea made really well,
00:42:39but it also has details that compares to no one else's.
00:42:43I can only hope the judges see my true creative expression here.
00:42:48Yes, Didi!
00:42:49Yes, Didi!
00:42:50Yes, Didi!
00:42:51Yes, Didi!
00:42:52Yes, Didi!
00:42:53I really feel like the look going down the runway this time shows a much more mature cut to
00:42:59Momoloo.
00:43:00It shows a designer that has a point of view that's very clear.
00:43:07And I really want to just slow-mo it so I can just see it glide and get all the goodies.
00:43:17It just goes really quickly and I'm like, oh my God, I hope that they saw me, because I see myself.
00:43:24Okay.
00:43:26My look is definitely way different than everybody else, but that's a good thing.
00:43:32Mine is very distinct and it has a clear point of view.
00:43:36The model change was stressful, but I don't think anybody's gonna know because my model looks fantastic,
00:43:42so beautiful and so powerful, exactly how I envisioned it.
00:43:46Aw, it looks so good!
00:43:49Ah, thank you!
00:43:52This was a definite rollercoaster to get this garment completed, but I feel like I successfully captured the essence of the challenge.
00:44:01I'm just thankful that I'm able to create hair and use the hurt and pain as an inspiration to showcase to the world the type of designer that I am and how you get over hard times.
00:44:14I feel like I've created a look that, for me, is inspired by the spirit of my first design.
00:44:26It's not like a direct interpretation, so I don't know if the judges will see it, but I'm happy with my work.
00:44:35Woo!
00:44:39My design came out just the way I wanted it to come out.
00:44:46My model has her bangs, she has her bouffant, she has her red lip, the black liner.
00:44:52I'm not gonna lie.
00:44:53I think I strayed from the challenge, but my whole purpose of being here was to pay homage to my mother, and I think my mom would have loved it.
00:45:01Woo!
00:45:06I'm definitely proud.
00:45:07Hard to say if I redeemed myself or not, because again, I don't think that I had anything to redeem myself from.
00:45:13But I think I did a good, solid evolution of the look that I had before.
00:45:18And I think I really showed how I've grown.
00:45:26Hello, butterfly!
00:45:27I am living as Mary-O walks down the runway.
00:45:31It is feminine, it's got movement, and I figured out how to incorporate that active wear.
00:45:38I have taken the essence of the look I was eliminated for.
00:45:43The pink, the butterflies, the shoulders, the draping.
00:45:46It's me.
00:45:47Come on, first party!
00:45:48Well, I know we can't wait to hear all about these looks, so will you all step up to the runway?
00:45:56All right, designers, we have scored your designs.
00:46:07And now, we would like to speak with Victor, Nora, Bishmi, Kane, Fabio, and Karasan.
00:46:19If I did not call your name, you are in.
00:46:23The rest of you can leave the runway.
00:46:31So the six of you had the highest and lowest scores today.
00:46:35One of you will be the winner, and one of you will be out.
00:46:39All right, let's start off positive, shall we?
00:46:51Let's bring out one of our favorite looks of the night.
00:46:53Congratulations, Bishmi.
00:46:54Congratulations, Bishmi.
00:46:56Okay, tell us about your look.
00:46:57I was trying to make something that was inspired by a girl that's wanna run, that's doing what she have to do, and an elevated version of the hoodie dress.
00:47:08I tried to put myself in a hat, and I was trying to make something that was inspired by a girl that's wanna run, that's doing what she has to do, and an elevated version of the hoodie dress.
00:47:21I tried to put myself in a happy place because the picture that I was inspired by triggered something for me that I didn't expect for it to do, so it was very difficult for me to continue on and make it, so it's literally been two months and probably like a day since my sister passed away.
00:47:38I know that grieving is difficult, but I didn't know that my grieving process would take place from something that was like, that got me eliminated.
00:47:48Well, you did a beautiful job, and you can consider this a tribute to her.
00:47:53Thank you, Elaine.
00:47:55Give yourself a lot of time, takes a long time, so you don't have to rush.
00:48:01You never disappoint as a designer, and you delivered a look that is very fashion-forward.
00:48:11I wrote in all caps, this is what today's challenge is all about, turning a negative into a positive.
00:48:17And when I looked back at this look that you put down the runway, it was a little tragic.
00:48:24And then I look at what you put down the runway today, this is a happy, cheerful, joyful look.
00:48:29It's a true elevation of whatever this initial vision was that you had.
00:48:34The first look was just not at all you, and this was nice to see something so assured from you.
00:48:39All of the details are such signatures of yours, and I can see that over the time since we've seen you, that you've really refined those.
00:48:48It feels very modern, and really just joyful, and the color is so fantastic.
00:48:53The ruffles are so playful, and it's really fun.
00:48:58All right, let's bring out another one of our favorite looks of the night.
00:49:08Kane, how does it feel to be in the top three?
00:49:10I'm appreciative and humbled, so thank you.
00:49:13Well, I want to wear that dress.
00:49:15We can make that happen.
00:49:17It's just really elegant, and sexy, and chic.
00:49:21So, I wasn't clueless on this challenge.
00:49:24No.
00:49:25Okay.
00:49:26Somebody had to.
00:49:27I know.
00:49:28I know it was so cliche, but my boyfriend would kill me if I didn't do that.
00:49:31I remember the challenge for you was incorporating that bit of white.
00:49:37And now, the piece de resistance is the white.
00:49:43Yeah.
00:49:44Well, I'll just jump right in here and say that I love that you gave us some drama.
00:49:48Honey.
00:49:49I just loved the feminine kind of softness of the bottom half, and how kind of cool and edgy the top is.
00:49:56The styling was very fresh.
00:49:58It felt very easy.
00:49:59You had a lot going on in the skirt, and I think you chose to take everything down everywhere else.
00:50:05It's very successful.
00:50:09Thank you, Kane.
00:50:10It's nice to meet you.
00:50:11Switching gears.
00:50:12The next look received one of our lowest scores, unfortunately.
00:50:15With me.
00:50:16Nora.
00:50:17What were you thinking going into this?
00:50:18My challenge was difficult for me because it was a wedding dress challenge the first time.
00:50:29I am not a wedding dress designer, but this time I wanted to create something kind of structural.
00:50:36So I wanted to create this 70s kind of flower.
00:50:40You chose a fabric that easily puckers, if not seemed perfectly, and you chose a color that really highlights any sort of imperfection.
00:50:48I didn't want to go white like last time.
00:50:52I wanted to do kind of like a different color.
00:50:55I remember the wedding dress.
00:50:57Yes.
00:50:58I understand the problem you're having.
00:51:01Yes.
00:51:02I see the choice of fabric.
00:51:03Yes.
00:51:04I see that that's not something that you do all the time.
00:51:07All the time.
00:51:08Right.
00:51:09This model is very close to the color of this fabric.
00:51:12So she kind of disappears.
00:51:14I wish I would have seen a little more bold from you.
00:51:18Yeah.
00:51:19Actually, I wasn't as crazy about it when you first came down.
00:51:23But now that I've been staring at it, I think it's kind of pretty.
00:51:27I appreciate that.
00:51:29Thank you, Nora.
00:51:30Emily, you can leave the runway.
00:51:32Okay.
00:51:33Let's bring out one of the bottom scores of the night.
00:51:39Unfortunately, Victor, you had one of our least favorite designs of the night.
00:51:44Do you want to tell us about it?
00:51:46The challenge at that time, it was a team challenge.
00:51:50So I took the opportunity to change it into something that I do now.
00:51:54So I really wanted to focus on the stilts by creating these kind of leg harnesses to give her that length.
00:52:00I also wanted to use some of that color.
00:52:02I'll be honest, it wasn't immediately clear what the connection was.
00:52:05Okay.
00:52:06Creative, indeed.
00:52:07Yeah.
00:52:08But fashion is subjective.
00:52:10Yeah.
00:52:11And for me, this didn't translate.
00:52:14I think this lattice work on the shoulders is very creative.
00:52:18Is it costumey?
00:52:19It is.
00:52:20But there's something very creative of taking this concept of the stilt and narrowing it down to this.
00:52:28I'm going to ask you a technical question about the leggings.
00:52:30Yeah.
00:52:31About how you put them together.
00:52:33It's attached to the waist.
00:52:35But did you cut and then grommet all of those?
00:52:37Because I can't see it.
00:52:38Everything's grommeted.
00:52:39Everything is snapped.
00:52:40Is that you wanted to give us the whole kitten caboodle.
00:52:43Yeah.
00:52:44You wanted to give us a cheese board of all of your talents.
00:52:47Right?
00:52:48And the thing is, the brie, which was the legs, was the tastiest cheese.
00:52:53And I could have just had a whole plate of brie.
00:52:56But I also would have loved to see a paring back of something to really let that one idea, or whatever idea it was of your choosing, really, really sing.
00:53:06Right.
00:53:07Thank you, Victor.
00:53:08Jessica, you can leave the runway.
00:53:09The next design received one of the lowest scores.
00:53:14Here comes the model.
00:53:15Jesus be on my side.
00:53:19The next design received one of the lowest scores.
00:53:26Here comes the model.
00:53:28Jesus be on my side.
00:53:31All right, Kara-san, tell us about your look.
00:53:42The challenge was a Emmy gown for Nancy O'Dell.
00:53:46I changed it in many ways.
00:53:48I still kept it asymmetrical.
00:53:50It's inspired by my mother, Barbara Saunders.
00:53:53And I call this kind of Barbara by the Sea.
00:53:56I do remember the Nancy O'Dell challenge.
00:53:59Yes.
00:54:00There is a fine line when you're working with costumes and translating that into real life.
00:54:08It just needed to be a little more subdued.
00:54:11It feels too in your face.
00:54:13Can you turn around?
00:54:15You picked the fabric.
00:54:18But where it goes off the rails for me is in the beading.
00:54:22Yeah.
00:54:23It just needed editing.
00:54:25Right.
00:54:26This feels a bit formal and stiff and, dare I say, a little dated.
00:54:31Right.
00:54:32Thank you, Kara-san.
00:54:34Here's who can lead the runway.
00:54:36The next look got one of our highest scores of the night.
00:54:49Fabio, tell us about your look.
00:54:52It was a challenge about outerwear.
00:54:54So, I feel like I wanted to create something that was mid-seasonal.
00:54:58So, hence, the arms are out, but you have sleeves on.
00:55:03And I kept this idea in my mind of flipping it around, flipping it around.
00:55:06So, that's what I did.
00:55:07All of the textiles, except this one, because it's, you know, it's double-faced, they're
00:55:11all the wrong side.
00:55:12So, right side.
00:55:14So, I felt like it was really about flipping everything around, giving you something that's
00:55:19exciting.
00:55:20It's very chic.
00:55:21And I really like the back.
00:55:22It's very modern and creative.
00:55:26Yeah.
00:55:27Congratulations.
00:55:29I love the combination of textures that shine with a mat, the top, which is a cape.
00:55:37Very confident outfit.
00:55:40Fabio, Fabio, Fabio.
00:55:41I mean, this is the improvement off the chart.
00:55:43So chic.
00:55:45My favorite look of the day.
00:55:46I would buy it right off your body.
00:55:48And I'll give it to you.
00:55:49Thank you, Fabio.
00:55:50I love it.
00:55:52Thanks, designers.
00:55:53Please exit stage left.
00:55:55We'll call you back soon.
00:56:06You know what?
00:56:08It's going to be very difficult to send one of these designers home.
00:56:12I agree.
00:56:13I think you both should do it.
00:56:14Oh, us?
00:56:15Nina's relinquishing?
00:56:17Veto power?
00:56:18I don't think so.
00:56:19I don't send people home.
00:56:20That's not in my...
00:56:21Oh, it's just...
00:56:22It's very hard.
00:56:23But why don't we just talk about who we think should win?
00:56:26Kane, for sure, for me, was glamorous and runway, exciting.
00:56:33This was such a lovely introduction to him and his work.
00:56:37Yeah.
00:56:38If I go back and remember what he did, it was always very gilded and very overly designed.
00:56:45To see the restraint that he had in designing this, that's all he needed.
00:56:50I think we have to give credit to Bhishmi, though.
00:56:53He took a look that really did not do well at all and completely reinvented it while staying
00:57:01true to the elements of that design.
00:57:03It was glamour, but at the same time, practicality.
00:57:07Yes.
00:57:08But also, Fabio, really great.
00:57:11I loved Fabio.
00:57:13I really did.
00:57:14I admire the elegance and maturity of it.
00:57:17It's really sophisticated.
00:57:19Fabio's was straight-up American sportswear that you see on the runways that had a very fresh perspective.
00:57:27Well, should we talk about who's going home?
00:57:29Not easy, but let's do it.
00:57:32What did you guys think about Karazhan?
00:57:34You're talking about the mermaid?
00:57:37That stressed me out to no end.
00:57:41The cut of that slit was not right.
00:57:43I could see everything under the dress.
00:57:45I have to say I was surprised that that was from Karazhan.
00:57:49I think had she taken out all that beading, shortened the gown, and kept the train long, it would have been spectacular.
00:57:59Yeah.
00:58:00Should we move to Nora?
00:58:02Well, when she walked out the runway the first time, I went, ooh.
00:58:05And then when it was in front of me and I was looking at it for a long time, I went, oh, it's kind of pretty.
00:58:11As a bridesmaid's dress, that girl looks great.
00:58:13I didn't mind Nora's dress.
00:58:15She brings such a different perspective, but it was just executed so poorly.
00:58:20I think it was the right idea that needed more time, and it just needed an expert hand.
00:58:25Sewing is a core part of this competition.
00:58:28A hundred percent.
00:58:29This is a sink or swim environment, and unfortunately I don't think she has the fins to stay afloat.
00:58:35I think that Victor really has a lane.
00:58:37I think he was just trying to show us tonight how many lanes he can go down, and we got the message loud and clear.
00:58:43I have to say, the longer I looked at it up close, the more I appreciated his skill level.
00:58:49Yes.
00:58:50When I first saw it go down the runway, I didn't like it.
00:58:52But did you connect the stilts to the...
00:58:54I didn't.
00:58:55Sorry, guys.
00:58:56That was over my head.
00:58:57That was the first thing I connected.
00:58:59I saw legs, and I thought, that's really smart.
00:59:02Wow, I can immediately tell it's connected.
00:59:05And then I got to the skirt.
00:59:07It just looked like it was just randomly basted on.
00:59:11It was sitting right below all of this gorgeous handwork, and we just didn't need it.
00:59:17It never gets easier doing this, but I guess we know who needs to go home.
00:59:27Fabio, Bishmi, and Kane, the three of you redeemed yourselves tonight.
00:59:44But, unfortunately, only one of you can win the $10,000 that's on the table tonight.
00:59:49You don't split it?
00:59:51We can split it.
00:59:52I'm good with that.
00:59:53I'm good with that.
00:59:54The winner of this challenge successfully changed history.
01:00:00Their look was modern, dramatic, and a successful reinvention.
01:00:08The winner is...
01:00:15Kane.
01:00:16Whoo!
01:00:19You get the whole booty, baby.
01:00:21Congratulations.
01:00:23Your design was definitely my favorite.
01:00:27Sophisticated, chic, feminine, but strong and powerful all at the same time.
01:00:33It was just wonderful.
01:00:34See, good old Southern boy from Nashville can do some fashion stuff.
01:00:37Okay.
01:00:38I'm telling you.
01:00:40Congratulations, Kane.
01:00:41$10,000.
01:00:42I mean, hey!
01:00:44Thank you so much.
01:00:46I think I absolutely got the redemption that I needed.
01:00:52Call me.
01:00:53Vishmi and Fabio, you are also in.
01:00:58You can all lead the wrong way.
01:01:00Well done, guys.
01:01:02I just won this challenge, but I cannot rest on my laurels.
01:01:04I want to win multiple challenges here.
01:01:12Kara-san, Victor, and Nora.
01:01:16Unfortunately, none of you were able to redeem your original look.
01:01:21And one of you will be out.
01:01:24Whatever happens, I just want to commend the three of you for coming back and for trying
01:01:34again.
01:01:35It's really inspiring to see, and you should all feel good regardless of the outcome.
01:01:40You're welcome.
01:01:44Victor, you're in.
01:01:46Thank you so much.
01:01:48You can leave the runway.
01:01:49I love you, babe.
01:01:50I love you, too.
01:01:51Thank you, guys.
01:01:52Carra-san and Nora, it pains me to say one of you will be out.
01:02:09Carra-san, we love that you honored your mother, but your look needed editing.
01:02:19Nora, we really appreciate the unique point of view that you bring to this competition.
01:02:26But unfortunately, your execution fell short.
01:02:34Nora?
01:02:35Nora?
01:02:39I'm sorry you're out.
01:02:42No problem.
01:02:43Nora, I'm so sorry.
01:02:44I really would have loved to see more of your point of view.
01:02:50And I wish you much luck.
01:02:52Thank you so much for this opportunity to come back and, of course, to be a part of the Project Runway family.
01:02:59So, thank you.
01:03:01Bye, Pamela.
01:03:02You're gonna do a bit.
01:03:05Carra-san, you are in.
01:03:07You can both leave the runway.
01:03:12Thank you, Alicia.
01:03:13Bye.
01:03:14Thank you so much.
01:03:15Good luck.
01:03:16OG, OG.
01:03:17In the short time that I've been here, I've reconnected with an old friend.
01:03:23I've made new friends.
01:03:25You both get to stay?
01:03:26I'm going home.
01:03:27I'm going home.
01:03:28I'm going home.
01:03:29I'm going home.
01:03:30I'm going home.
01:03:31But I just wanted to say that you guys are all going to just kill it.
01:03:36And I can't wait to see what you do.
01:03:38I've been inspired by other people.
01:03:41It was bittersweet.
01:03:43And I just really wish the best for everybody.
01:03:45We're gonna miss you.
01:03:47Thank you for joining us again.
01:03:49I'll see you in another 18 years.
01:03:51I won't be here, but...
01:03:56That was good.
01:03:57Season 4, like, why not?
01:03:59I'm going to send you to the workroom.
01:04:00Clean up your space.
01:04:01Say your goodbyes.
01:04:02I'll keep a light.
01:04:06I would have loved to have spent a little more time with the designers, but if you have
01:04:13a question in your mind of whether to do something, I took the risks to do it.
01:04:18And I think my legacy is just go and try it.
01:04:22You'll never know if you didn't try.
01:04:28Next, on Project Runway All-Star.
01:04:32Good morning, boys and girls.
01:04:33Christian is waiting for you inside.
01:04:37All right, designers.
01:04:38Have fun with the toys.
01:04:40This is my store.
01:04:42I already know.
01:04:43I feel like the unconventional challenge shows you who you are.
01:04:46This is pandemonium.
01:04:48I need my emotional support.
01:04:50Why are you crying?
01:04:51We can't wait to see how you brought these toys to life.
01:04:54Oh, my God.
01:04:55I'm, like, sweating.
