00:00:00Previously on Project Runway All-Stars, your unconventional materials challenge is to create
00:00:08runway looks from toys. You've got dragons. What is that, dinosaur? The stress is real, ain't it?
00:00:19What the? Why are you crying? You're asking the baby. Oh my God. I'm going to do unconventional,
00:00:25but I have the right not to like it. The look transcended the materials it was made of
00:00:31and delivered full-on couture. The winner is Victor. Oh my God. Mila, Laurence, and Rami. You all missed
00:00:42the mark for different reasons. I'm so sorry, but Mila, unfortunately tonight you are out.
00:00:48I wish I could have given you a chance to see me get back on track.
00:00:51Just one more time.
00:01:01Fashion designer Christian Siriano, journalist Elaine Welteroff, fashion designer Brandon Maxwell,
00:01:08and editor-in-chief of Elle magazine, Nina Garcia, are looking for America's next great fashion designer.
00:01:14At stake for the winner, a quarter of a million dollars supplied by Pilot Friction erasable pens,
00:01:20a feature in Elle magazine, and a career-changing mentorship with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
00:01:27This is Project Runway All-Stars.
00:01:30You okay? My sister. I know I'm coming here to hug you. It's okay.
00:01:40It's tough. Guys, it's tough.
00:01:42Listen, you're going to get softer by the end of this competition, Mr. Moore.
00:01:46Yeah, you're going to be softer.
00:01:48Oh, those hugs and loving. There you go. There it is.
00:01:51On my season, I never rocked the bottom. Not a single time.
00:01:54Yeah, I'm good.
00:01:55So, you got to rebuild yourself. Make sure that they see you the next time.
00:01:59We survived unconventional.
00:02:01Yeah.
00:02:01Yes.
00:02:02Yeah, that was a wild one, right?
00:02:03That was really crazy.
00:02:04Everyone's so good that you just never really know.
00:02:07Get some rest, and I'll see you real soon.
00:02:10Ooh, mystery.
00:02:12Bye.
00:02:12Mystery.
00:02:14So, who are you feeling the next challenges, you guys?
00:02:17Honestly, after this, it's either going to be, like, bridal or, like...
00:02:21I'm all about a drag queen. Give me a drag queen.
00:02:24Oh, no.
00:02:24Oh, no.
00:02:25Oh, no.
00:02:29Oh, no.
00:02:32It's the queen.
00:02:37Everybody look faster.
00:02:40Long live the king.
00:02:47That's me.
00:02:49Done with this.
00:02:51Okay.
00:02:52The world just witnessed a historic coronation right across the pond.
00:02:56And in celebration of this momentous occasion, we want you to create a formal gown fit for royalty.
00:03:06Oh, my goodness.
00:03:08Yes.
00:03:09Yes.
00:03:10We want a magnificent gown.
00:03:14That's...
00:03:15I'm with it.
00:03:15Glamour.
00:03:16Keep in mind, gowns can go quite dated very quickly.
00:03:20So, this needs to feel modern, fresh.
00:03:23Royal of today, you know.
00:03:25Cool.
00:03:26Innovative.
00:03:27Okay?
00:03:28And the good news is...
00:03:31We're dividing you up into teams of two.
00:03:34Oh, my God.
00:03:35It's a team challenge.
00:03:37Yeah.
00:03:37Yeah.
00:03:37We dread team challenges so much because it's about compromising.
00:03:43One, two, one, two, one, two, four.
00:03:45Oh, my God.
00:03:46Fitting that we're working with Monarchy because there's a lot of diplomacy involved.
00:03:49So, to determine the teams, everyone's going to grab one of these fabulous little tea sandwiches.
00:03:56Okay?
00:03:57But don't take a bite.
00:03:58Grab one.
00:03:59Okay.
00:04:00A little quicker.
00:04:01Nope.
00:04:02This is heavy.
00:04:03That's exciting.
00:04:04Ladies first.
00:04:05Oh, thank you.
00:04:06You guys are going to find someone who has the same sandwich as you and that will be your teammate.
00:04:12Who has watercress, tomato, and cream cheese?
00:04:15That's me and you, baby.
00:04:16Woo-hoo!
00:04:18Victor won the last challenge and I won the first challenge.
00:04:20So, we are the two winners.
00:04:22Excellent.
00:04:23Excellent.
00:04:23Excellent.
00:04:25Coronation chicken.
00:04:26My girl.
00:04:28Oh, my gosh.
00:04:29I'm so happy.
00:04:33We're about to get this poppin'.
00:04:34We are.
00:04:35Oh, my goodness.
00:04:35Even though you're in a team of two, only one of you will be going home.
00:04:41Damn.
00:04:41So, you guys need to be crystal clear of your contributions to these gowns.
00:04:47But, this is a two-day challenge.
00:04:49Victor, you won the last challenge.
00:04:51That means your team gets first pick of models.
00:04:54Oh.
00:04:55Isn't that nice?
00:04:56Yeah.
00:04:57One look, one model.
00:04:59There you go.
00:05:00You pick.
00:05:00You pick.
00:05:01I mean, just go.
00:05:02Just get in.
00:05:02Just get in.
00:05:04We're done.
00:05:05All right.
00:05:05Who'd you pick?
00:05:06Wren.
00:05:07Fab.
00:05:08Who'd you pick?
00:05:09Jessica.
00:05:09Jessica.
00:05:10Um.
00:05:11Let me see.
00:05:13Roberta.
00:05:14Fabulous.
00:05:15We're doing Mimi.
00:05:17Sarah.
00:05:19We're picking me.
00:05:21All right.
00:05:22So, tomorrow morning, you'll go to Mood.
00:05:24I won't be there.
00:05:25I have royal obligations, obviously.
00:05:26Oh, wow.
00:05:28How you're building.
00:05:29But, each team will have a budget of $1,000.
00:05:33Not bad.
00:05:34You guys have 30 minutes now to brainstorm and sketch.
00:05:38I left your friction pens and your sketchbooks right over there.
00:05:41All right.
00:05:42I'm headed back to my throne.
00:05:44See you soon.
00:05:45Bye-bye.
00:05:45Bye.
00:05:46Bye.
00:05:46Bye.
00:05:47Toodaloo.
00:05:48Yeah.
00:05:50So long.
00:05:51Messy.
00:05:51Carissawn.
00:05:52Brittany.
00:05:53Bramie.
00:05:54I'm going to go grab my fabric.
00:05:56So, my fabric from home was given to me by a childhood friend.
00:05:59This wasn't made for royalty.
00:06:00I don't know what was.
00:06:01Oh, honey.
00:06:02Yeah.
00:06:02I want to do African-Haitian, like, black royalty.
00:06:06Mm-hmm.
00:06:06I just, yeah, I just want it to look like it's both of us.
00:06:09And I think that's what the marriage is.
00:06:10So, project is from Haiti, and I'm originally from Liberia.
00:06:13So, immediately we know we're going for African-Haitian royalty.
00:06:17This is what this fabric was for.
00:06:19We need to win, because this fabric cost me a lot.
00:06:21You know what I'm saying?
00:06:22And it's rich.
00:06:23It's rich.
00:06:24See, Coteau's fabric, they're going to bring, like, the drama.
00:06:28The fabric has to be so rich-looking.
00:06:30I want the girl to walk, and I want the judges to be like,
00:06:34ugh, not just the jewels and all that, but the movement.
00:06:37I agree.
00:06:37Water.
00:06:38And maybe the back is, like, literally a cape with a train.
00:06:43Yeah.
00:06:44But it's still sexy.
00:06:45It's modern.
00:06:45We could even have a slit so she could show her legs.
00:06:49Okay.
00:06:49So, I'm thinking, what about this?
00:06:50What about if it's not around this way?
00:06:53What if it goes up like a metal, like a flower?
00:06:58Let's erase this, because I love that idea.
00:07:00I think it's going to be fantastic.
00:07:03I like the romantic aspect of it, because it's feminine.
00:07:06You're cool feminine.
00:07:07Yes.
00:07:08Mixing those two, like, elements.
00:07:09I'm actually really, really excited to have Anna as a partner.
00:07:12We're both extremely feminine designers.
00:07:15It could be where this is maybe, like, opaque,
00:07:17and then that could be, like, a sheer with the applique,
00:07:19and it's, like, two skirts and one.
00:07:22You have on it.
00:07:22Okay.
00:07:23I think the outcome could be one of the best looks in Project Runway history.
00:07:27We are genderqueer.
00:07:31Mm-hmm.
00:07:32I feel like it's an opportunity to make a gown fit the aesthetic that we have.
00:07:37Yeah.
00:07:37And we can look at queendom in kind of a genderqueer, genderfluid way,
00:07:41where we're sort of subverting the idea of what queen is,
00:07:44and subverting the idea of what a gown is.
00:07:47The future of queerdom.
00:07:48I honestly have a strong connection to the idea of femininity.
00:07:52However, the way I see myself doesn't always align
00:07:54with the way femininity is described in this modern world.
00:07:58So I choose to call myself non-binary and go by she, they
00:08:02to explain that I am not necessarily only feminine.
00:08:05I feel that there's masculinity in me.
00:08:07There's fully genderfluid energy in me.
00:08:09So I am here to be that voice.
00:08:11We're really looking to make a statement piece about queer identity,
00:08:15about what it means to be a queen, what it means to be regal in the future
00:08:19of what we see as this kind of gender-free, genderfluid world.
00:08:24I love this.
00:08:24Like, this is gorgeous.
00:08:26Yeah.
00:08:26This is my number one love, and this is literally, I've been working with this.
00:08:30We're on the same page.
00:08:30Even if we did, like, the cape, like, when she's walking,
00:08:34I'd like to get, like, a beautiful lining underneath.
00:08:37Yeah.
00:08:38I work on the cape, you work on the gown.
00:08:40Yeah.
00:08:41I don't know, I can make a dope-ass cape.
00:08:43I love my girl, Laurence.
00:08:44She's so gangster.
00:08:47She's like the leather on the lace.
00:08:50We need to make sure that the dress and the cape fabric marries well.
00:08:55A sleeve and neckline detail could be really interesting.
00:08:57If we do want to do sculpture, I think that you have really cool shapes.
00:09:01And I think, like, with the shapes that I do, if we put those together,
00:09:05it can really create something cool.
00:09:07I am excited to be paired with someone who is extremely talented.
00:09:12This gown that we are creating is about to be a masterpiece.
00:09:15We don't want her to feel old.
00:09:17I want to make sure she's, like...
00:09:18Right.
00:09:18She's like, for sure.
00:09:20Fresh as modern-day queen.
00:09:22Team challenges are a challenge.
00:09:24It's partly about the design, but it's also partly about your working style with other people.
00:09:29Did colors come to you?
00:09:31Not really.
00:09:31So that was where, because to me, immediately, I would think, like, red.
00:09:34Because that's a very regal color to me, or purple, because, like, duh, it's so obvious.
00:09:37There's this gorgeous, lilac-y, lavender-y purple that I think is, like, good for this kind of a thing.
00:09:44It's funny that you were saying that, because lavender and purple is the royalty color.
00:09:48Exactly.
00:09:49All right, guys, let's go home.
00:09:51Let's get it.
00:09:52It's been a long day.
00:09:52Woo-hoo!
00:09:53Coming up.
00:09:55I want to be the leader.
00:09:56I want to do something different.
00:09:57Just give the room for this part, and then you gather.
00:10:00I am not here to execute her vision.
00:10:03Yeah, I know how to do it.
00:10:04That was unpleasant.
00:10:18Each challenge is going to get harder and harder.
00:10:21One day you're in, one day you're out.
00:10:23You know, you got your only as good as your last.
00:10:26It's like, you won the first challenge, I won the second, so they have more expectations on us.
00:10:32You think there's a little target on our back?
00:10:33Yeah.
00:10:35You're unstoppable.
00:10:36Okay, friends, it's time to go to mood and stress out some more.
00:10:41Woo!
00:10:42I can smell the fabric already.
00:10:51Designers.
00:10:53Christian is currently in my basement.
00:10:55Yeah!
00:10:56So I am your new mentor.
00:10:59Yes!
00:10:59Yes!
00:10:59Yes!
00:11:00Oh!
00:11:01Thousand dollars.
00:11:02Christ.
00:11:03Half an hour.
00:11:05Tear this bitch up.
00:11:06Are you ready?
00:11:06Yes!
00:11:07Yes!
00:11:07Charmooze satin style.
00:11:13People right and left.
00:11:13Organza.
00:11:14Where's Georgene?
00:11:16To the back.
00:11:16You're going to go for the black you have?
00:11:17Yeah.
00:11:18Let's get the dress.
00:11:19Okay.
00:11:20You can stay in the black and white.
00:11:21I think these three here?
00:11:23Mm-hmm.
00:11:23With this overlay?
00:11:25Picking gray as a color story is really intentional because gray is a color that does not dictate
00:11:31gender.
00:11:32So if we're doing pants, skirt, we're keeping everything separate.
00:11:36So over the pants there's a skirt and then over this vest there is a set of sleeves that
00:11:41harness everything in.
00:11:42Let's see.
00:11:43No, this is better.
00:11:44I like this.
00:11:45This design is dedicated for an everyday woman.
00:11:48She could be a housewife, she could be a mother, but they still deserve to have, you
00:11:53know, a royal moment while wearing this beautiful gown.
00:11:55I'll meet you at the counter.
00:11:57All right.
00:11:57I'm going to take these for sure.
00:11:59This one I'm just going to take four because they're so expensive.
00:12:01$1,000 is not really fit for a queen.
00:12:04I mean, come on.
00:12:05We had $2,000 to spend on toys the last challenge.
00:12:08How much is this $150?
00:12:09$200.
00:12:09It's $200?
00:12:10No way.
00:12:11Really?
00:12:12I think we're going to be spending like $700 minimum on a novelty fabric, which leaves
00:12:18us only $300 to buy everything else.
00:12:21And for a gown, that's not a lot.
00:12:23How much money do we have?
00:12:25Left.
00:12:26$500.
00:12:26Left?
00:12:27I'm about to buy the store.
00:12:28The fact that I'm using my special fabric from home actually takes off a whole $1,000 that
00:12:34we won't have to spend in mood.
00:12:35She's giving Haiti in.
00:12:37Yeah, she is giving Haiti.
00:12:38So, mostly, we're looking for our masterpiece solid, the foundation of this garment.
00:12:44I think it might look good, because it's patent, it looks rich.
00:12:47Victor really wanted to use a silver metallic leather that's a little bit harder than my
00:12:52normal style, but I want to give him that moment.
00:12:54He's really adamant about it.
00:12:55So, I'm like, you know what?
00:12:56Go ahead and get it.
00:12:57We can always choose to not use it later.
00:13:00And I'll make it look really expensive.
00:13:03Dude, man!
00:13:03We have everything else, notions and stuff, right?
00:13:07Yeah, we good.
00:13:08This is not me, no more.
00:13:09I don't like running around.
00:13:16Let's go, girls!
00:13:17Woo!
00:13:27I like to be crown king.
00:13:29I think this lining is a little bit, like, warm from the color from here.
00:13:42If this doesn't work out, you see layers of this one will be fine, too.
00:13:46We don't have enough, I don't think.
00:13:47I cover more on this.
00:13:49We could do two layers on top of that, but we have to have this.
00:13:52Yes.
00:13:53I would say 90% of us are very type A control freaks.
00:13:57I am both of those things, as well as high-strung.
00:14:01You're going to have to pad the hip and the waist, and the butt is a little bit big.
00:14:06You do me, too.
00:14:06I can't pass.
00:14:07I do the skirt.
00:14:08I got to pad the waist.
00:14:10I want to be the leader.
00:14:11I want to do something different.
00:14:12But I know Brainy has a very strong opinion all the time.
00:14:17I don't see either of us will be the leader.
00:14:21Ah, this color, Victor, is so good.
00:14:24So rich.
00:14:26Oh!
00:14:26Victor and I are making this amazing royal purple silk Georgette gown with a metallic leather corset.
00:14:36I think you start on a corset.
00:14:38Okay.
00:14:39I will start on Zay Bautiz.
00:14:41That one.
00:14:43Ajay and I being miraculously put together as the gods in themselves said, you know what?
00:14:49Be one.
00:14:49Maybe a tiny neck.
00:14:51Maybe not a huge one.
00:14:51We decided to do a robe and a blue metallic.
00:14:55So once you think you got it, boom, it drops, and there's this really beautiful gown.
00:15:00Oh, my God.
00:15:00Yes.
00:15:01Jesus gave us a green light, and we said, yes, sir.
00:15:04Amen.
00:15:05I mean, I'm thinking about it.
00:15:07Does she have to be long in the front?
00:15:08She don't really have to, right?
00:15:09We could do the high-low.
00:15:10Oh, I love it.
00:15:11So we'll see our legs.
00:15:12Which is very, yes.
00:15:13It's very sexy, too.
00:15:14It's very sexy.
00:15:15In my everyday life, I actually work a lot in groups.
00:15:19I am a costume designer.
00:15:20Everything has to be cohesive.
00:15:22And I love Laurence.
00:15:23Like, I could not have asked for a better partner.
00:15:27And we can do pants and vests out of this.
00:15:29Exactly.
00:15:29And the sleeves out of this, and the skirt out of this.
00:15:31Maybe that's it.
00:15:32And then the crossover, this.
00:15:33Yeah.
00:15:34I believe true fashion embraces masculinity and femininity, and creates an entirely new
00:15:38other form of gender representation.
00:15:40That's me beautiful.
00:15:42Yeah.
00:15:42So Fabio and I are really trying to treat this challenge as a chance for us to be a spokesperson
00:15:47for the queer generation.
00:15:49I like that you did this thing here.
00:15:50Right here?
00:15:51Yeah.
00:15:51I'm feeling a vibes.
00:15:53What vibes?
00:15:54Like the good vibes, man.
00:15:56We set good vibes intentions.
00:16:00See?
00:16:00And I hope that we get what we want in the end.
00:16:02You're the sweetest partner ever, man.
00:16:05Since I've been on Project Runway, I had the opportunity to dress the Queen of Jordan.
00:16:11Having dressed royalty is like a huge honor for somebody like myself.
00:16:16When I first got the call, I just didn't believe it.
00:16:18I thought that it was a joke.
00:16:19To actually be flown first class and to be greeted at the Mandarin Hotel by Queen of Jordan
00:16:24herself, it's a moment that I will always remember.
00:16:27We got this, Rami.
00:16:28We got this.
00:16:29I'm going to go and connect the skirt together.
00:16:37Okay.
00:16:38Our girl is definitely a pop culture, like Beyonce or Celine Dion.
00:16:43This is that queen.
00:16:45We need to make it more sexy, more modern.
00:16:47So I'm making a corset in the middle with leather.
00:16:50And that signature touch that if you see it, you know it's mine.
00:16:53You have to be very, very careful.
00:16:57Because this is surgery here.
00:16:58Like, when you don't have to, like, do all the way plates.
00:17:07What?
00:17:09You can do, like, a gather.
00:17:12Even if it's not plates, it's gathers.
00:17:14Is that what you're making?
00:17:15Yeah.
00:17:16Okay, that's fine.
00:17:16Whatever.
00:17:17Like, you can just give the room for this part.
00:17:24And then you gather, I will praise the folks, right?
00:17:27Yeah, I know how to gather.
00:17:28Oh, keeping my cool in this team challenge is so crucial to our success.
00:17:33I am not a seamstress here to execute her vision.
00:17:38Just want to make it out of this team challenge alive.
00:17:47Everything is fine.
00:17:54Everything is fine.
00:17:56Do you like my crown?
00:17:58Who's the boy, you miss, bitch?
00:17:59Ow.
00:18:01Rami and I are creating a gown that has a very architectural detail but classic element.
00:18:08I feel like it's more flattering if they come out.
00:18:11From that side.
00:18:13When we do the heavy appliques, you won't see that seam at all.
00:18:15Yes, that's what I did before.
00:18:17No, you won't see it at all.
00:18:18I think we knew straight off where our queen was from.
00:18:21Paris for you.
00:18:22Pretty much what does that know?
00:18:23And Germany for me since I was born in Germany.
00:18:26That's right.
00:18:26And thank you for adding the military twist for me since I'm an Air Force bride.
00:18:30Oh, you're welcome.
00:18:30A little black queen with a European twist, you know?
00:18:33I don't really want to say that her style is not mine.
00:18:36She will go fully soft.
00:18:38You know, I could be soft and hard.
00:18:40I just like to mix the two together.
00:18:41The cape is the hard one and the dress will be the soft part of the look.
00:18:46I don't see a Queen Lajon's fabric that feels too potted to me.
00:18:51I like all of that.
00:18:56Breaks my heart.
00:18:57Cut you like this.
00:18:59The fabric I bought from home is actually one complete fabric.
00:19:02It's on this nude mesh.
00:19:04So I'm cutting each one out as Prajay constructs the dress.
00:19:07She's serving rich bitch realness from Africa.
00:19:10Cartoon's fabric from home was flown in a private jet by my future husband from Dubai with all the oil money and the gold and the diamonds.
00:19:17I like where it's going.
00:19:19It just sparkles.
00:19:20We are going to give you the Queen of Wakanda, representing us, the people.
00:19:31Okay, so you got the sleeves, I got the pants.
00:19:35And you're doing the best now.
00:19:36Finishing up the vest.
00:19:37And tomorrow I'm diving into skirt territory.
00:19:39You got me.
00:19:40I got you, babe.
00:19:42That was unpleasant.
00:19:43Sorry to everyone.
00:19:45Once you get it all draped, I'll help you with that part.
00:19:48That corset is giving me life now.
00:19:50Yeah.
00:19:51I like this.
00:19:52I like this.
00:19:52Let's look at it.
00:19:53But let's look at it tomorrow.
00:19:54Yeah.
00:19:56Victor and Kane's outfits.
00:19:58I have so many questions.
00:20:00So many questions.
00:20:01Yeah, you know why I think it's going to be successful?
00:20:04Because it looks like it's like a custom made something.
00:20:07I don't think they've seen this before.
00:20:09This should be like a sword.
00:20:12I'm going to take a ride on my dragon.
00:20:1515 minutes.
00:20:22I think from there, it's probably going to be ready for fitting.
00:20:25You've already got the leather corset already ready.
00:20:27That's a game plan.
00:20:29Boom.
00:20:29Tomorrow I'll work on the body and then you can help me with this.
00:20:32I think it's going to be really full up.
00:20:35This is done.
00:20:36We have to connect the bodice.
00:20:38Oh my God.
00:20:38Yes.
00:20:39Damn.
00:20:41Just got to have faith.
00:20:44Guys!
00:20:45You ain't got to go home.
00:20:47But you got to get the hell up out of here.
00:20:50Ready to go.
00:20:51Let's go.
00:20:51Let's go.
00:20:59I can't take Rana.
00:21:03So how do you feel about the walkthrough tomorrow when Christian walks in?
00:21:10When Christian comes to you guys because you like current seasons, it's a different relationship.
00:21:15And even with the judges, it'd be like, okay, Rami, what rock did you climb from under?
00:21:20Okay, that's great.
00:21:21Pasha!
00:21:22How you doing, my brother?
00:21:24So, you still live in Arkansas?
00:21:27Don't you have children?
00:21:29Like, what the hell?
00:21:29When you hear, like, a judge saying, oh, it's so good to see you.
00:21:33And then you come back after so many years and you don't get any of that warm welcome.
00:21:37It just feels a bit off.
00:21:38You know what I mean?
00:21:39Considering that.
00:21:40I get that.
00:21:42What is this?
00:21:43Yes, some of us are OGs.
00:21:45Some of us are new.
00:21:47But there's two OGs gone.
00:21:49Is this going to be a pattern?
00:21:50But a lot of us are split teams.
00:21:53But, you know, like, the way it is, if you lose, only one of you go home.
00:21:58If it works out where I get to the end, yeah, great.
00:22:01But I'm going to show the out and be me 100%, but I'm not going to have no regrets.
00:22:06Some of the designers are new.
00:22:07They're fresh me.
00:22:08You know, we've been doing this since the beginning.
00:22:11There's the respect to be due.
00:22:12We've been here.
00:22:13We've done it.
00:22:13I'm an OG, and I still got it.
00:22:15God's been training me to get me ready.
00:22:18This is my time now.
00:22:20Coming up?
00:22:21Girl, you know Christian's coming in 20 minutes.
00:22:23What?
00:22:23I do think it looks period.
00:22:25Hi, designers.
00:22:26I think you could do something more modern than this.
00:22:29I'm just like, now I'm confused.
00:22:32The accessorizing is so over the top, it's hard for me to consider it as a gown.
00:22:38I find this fabric to feel sad and wilted.
00:22:51Here we go, here we go.
00:22:52Good morning, lovely dresses.
00:22:57We are back.
00:22:58Let's have a game plan.
00:22:59I just want to communicate what everybody's person's doing.
00:23:04So that way it's a partnership.
00:23:05Because I want to go on that runway like proud and be able to do it.
00:23:09Knowing that like one person wasn't doing enough.
00:23:12I really want to remind her that this is a partnership.
00:23:16It is our vision.
00:23:17I want you to trust me with her heart.
00:23:18I trust you so much.
00:23:19Especially the thing I worked with you yesterday.
00:23:22I see how you like seriously like backing all the tour together.
00:23:25I trust you so much technically.
00:23:26It's so important for you and your team member to be on the same page.
00:23:30It's essentially going to be the key to the success of this team challenge.
00:23:35Okay, great.
00:23:35Love you.
00:23:36Me too.
00:23:37I want to cut the skirt and put it before Christian comes in.
00:23:44Yes, for sure.
00:23:48It looks amazing.
00:23:53Girl, you know Christian is coming in 20 minutes.
00:23:58I'm sorry.
00:23:59All right.
00:24:01Say that side eye for him.
00:24:02We can do it.
00:24:05We can do it.
00:24:07Look how gorgeous.
00:24:08Oh, yeah.
00:24:12I want to be her.
00:24:18Hello, everybody.
00:24:19Hi, Christian.
00:24:21How are you?
00:24:21Hi, Christian.
00:24:22Good.
00:24:23Everyone feeling regal and fabulous?
00:24:26Yes.
00:24:27Well, I love a gown, so I'm coming to see you.
00:24:30Yay.
00:24:30Okay.
00:24:32Hello.
00:24:35Hey.
00:24:36Hi.
00:24:37What are we looking at?
00:24:38This is African standard.
00:24:39This is African style.
00:24:41It's for the culture.
00:24:42I am from the Malian Empire, so I mean, I really am from royalty.
00:24:46My mom's always told me she was a queen in her day.
00:24:49When she enters a room, her head is high.
00:24:51She's regal and she is dressed.
00:24:53And then, you know, when she gets on the runway, she'll do that reveal.
00:24:58Take it off.
00:24:58And then you have this beautiful dress.
00:25:01Yeah.
00:25:01It's a whole look.
00:25:02Yeah, maybe it really just is about making this applique shine.
00:25:06That's your star, which I think you're doing a good job so far.
00:25:10I think it just has to be, like, perfect.
00:25:12You have a good amount left, right?
00:25:13Yeah.
00:25:13So you can wrap around to the back and to the bottom.
00:25:15All right, guys.
00:25:16Trim, trim, trim.
00:25:17Yes.
00:25:18Bye.
00:25:26I wish I had somebody in here fanning me.
00:25:29Hello.
00:25:30Hello.
00:25:31Hi, guys.
00:25:32Hi.
00:25:32What's happening here?
00:25:33For us, we wanted to showcase you don't have to be a queen to have royalty and be boys.
00:25:40Every woman at some moment in her life wants to have her royal moment.
00:25:44And as women who might even be housewives, I feel like sometimes they're the unsung heroes
00:25:50that need to be celebrated.
00:25:53I do think that this could be something more dramatic because it does feel a little safe.
00:26:00Okay.
00:26:01You guys could cut sections out.
00:26:03I just think they're really going to focus on what's so different.
00:26:06Like, things that are a bit off will be better.
00:26:09So, have fun.
00:26:11Thanks.
00:26:11Thank you, Christian.
00:26:12Hopefully that helped you.
00:26:12You look very worried.
00:26:14No, I'm not worried at all.
00:26:15This is, like, pleasing.
00:26:17Okay.
00:26:18Goodbye.
00:26:18I'm happy that Christian is testing us to kind of, like, bring our best.
00:26:22I feel like it will add another cool factor to the already amazing gown that we're creating.
00:26:28I see a cape.
00:26:29Yes.
00:26:30So, this kind of beautiful velvet leather cape.
00:26:33And that is the fabric that she brought from home.
00:26:35I'm known for leather, but this is my alternative to leather.
00:26:40I call this my Versailles fabric.
00:26:42I call this my Versailles fabric.
00:26:42That's my little French side.
00:26:43It looks very rich.
00:26:44It looks very regal and elegant.
00:26:47So, that's the cape.
00:26:48And then what goes underneath?
00:26:49So, we're down to...
00:26:50I see a very icy queen over here.
00:26:55I'm like, I think you're channeling something.
00:26:58I am channeling something.
00:26:59And this is where I'm thinking, because, like, my dad was in the military forever.
00:27:03Like, this is my mom.
00:27:04She always had on white.
00:27:06She always had on these gloves.
00:27:08He was, like, the officer, which is the hard.
00:27:10And she was just always the beautiful song.
00:27:12I love that.
00:27:13That's the concept.
00:27:14Okay.
00:27:14That's beautiful.
00:27:15Okay.
00:27:15And that helps it, I think, make a bit more sense.
00:27:18Yeah.
00:27:18Because they are quite different.
00:27:20Yeah.
00:27:20All right.
00:27:21Lots of work.
00:27:22Yes.
00:27:23Like, the most work.
00:27:24I know.
00:27:25So.
00:27:26Okay.
00:27:31On the shoulders area here.
00:27:34I need to see it more finished for me to have a real opinion, to be honest with you.
00:27:40Long live the king.
00:27:48Hello, gentlemen.
00:27:50Hello, Christian.
00:27:51It's very purple over here.
00:27:53Yeah.
00:27:54We both are very inspired by music.
00:27:56So it's, like, modern day.
00:27:57So it's kind of, like, a music, a music icon.
00:27:59Exactly.
00:28:00Yeah.
00:28:00And we really wanted to marry both of our aesthetics, but push it.
00:28:05Right now, it is looking a little bit medieval costume.
00:28:11This is this armored breastplate, and she's got her cape sleeves, and she's purple, and then
00:28:16she has this royal crown.
00:28:18Everyone knows that you can make incredible clothes.
00:28:20So I think you could do something a bit cooler and more modern, because you can do this tomorrow
00:28:28in, like, half an hour.
00:28:29Like, this is not hard.
00:28:31I mean...
00:28:31I just...
00:28:32I mean...
00:28:33You know what?
00:28:33I think it's really important to be a good team player in this challenge, because I do love
00:28:37and respect Victor's work.
00:28:38It's just tough to decide, is this corset cool for this challenge?
00:28:42Are the judges going to get it?
00:28:44I don't know.
00:28:44There could be something going on.
00:28:46Oh, we're going to use this, baby.
00:28:47Don't you worry.
00:28:48But also, with that, you could do something really interesting here.
00:28:52But I...
00:28:52Okay.
00:28:53You're going to push it.
00:28:54Bye.
00:28:54Thanks.
00:28:55Bye.
00:28:56Bye.
00:28:56I'm wondering, is this a good idea?
00:28:59Should we take the corset out?
00:29:00If I was designing it by myself, I would definitely edit more, but I think I'm too respectful
00:29:08of Cain, and I want to make sure that his voice is on the garment, and mine voice, too.
00:29:13Who's your royal, regal, queen moment?
00:29:17So, we're thinking monarch queer.
00:29:19Yeah.
00:29:20So, gender fluid, that's why the pants come into play, because we want it to look like
00:29:24it is a gown, but it's also...
00:29:25For the future.
00:29:26We're trying to dress the future of what we see as in our culture.
00:29:28Wear what you want to wear, be who you want to be.
00:29:30Exactly.
00:29:30Like, it doesn't matter.
00:29:31Anyone.
00:29:32Literally anyone.
00:29:33I get what you're doing.
00:29:35I think that the gray side looks a little richer.
00:29:38Yeah.
00:29:38I think the white almost is, like, day wear.
00:29:41Yeah.
00:29:41Because that was where we kind of came from.
00:29:43We both kind of come from where day wear.
00:29:44I think for us, the ticket is really the skirt.
00:29:47We have to go as big as possible.
00:29:49Fabio and I keep talking about how we need to kind of bump it up into that regal category.
00:29:53I got it from here.
00:29:53You just start by fitting the pants, and I'll be zhuzhing this until I'm ready for meme
00:29:56meal class.
00:29:56This is a fairy little land we're in.
00:30:00It is.
00:30:00Yes.
00:30:00Yes.
00:30:01So the queen is, she's from this planet.
00:30:05Oh, she's from another planet.
00:30:06Her own planet.
00:30:06And it's all women.
00:30:07Of course.
00:30:08No men.
00:30:09None.
00:30:09No men.
00:30:10None.
00:30:10No men.
00:30:10Essentially, the whole idea is...
00:30:11Not even a fabulous gay one?
00:30:13Okay.
00:30:13You can comment.
00:30:13You'd have to be celibate.
00:30:15Oh.
00:30:15Well, okay.
00:30:16Our queen is the queen of this imaginary planet.
00:30:21They reproduce their species by drinking from the single running source of spring water.
00:30:28I did not drink spring water to get pregnant.
00:30:30I did a lot of work.
00:30:31We want to keep this queen very chic, modern, so this is the top, and this is the goldie
00:30:37dress.
00:30:38Clearly, it's very fairy-like, very ethereal, romantic, but it's about making sure this
00:30:44beading is placed.
00:30:45Sure.
00:30:45Because it looks like you just stuck them on the skirt.
00:30:49You've got to get this skirt done.
00:30:50Yeah.
00:30:50You have a lot to do.
00:30:52It took me six hours to make that skirt.
00:30:55I'm not sure if I can finish this dress on time.
00:30:58That looks like you stuck it on with a hot glue.
00:31:00Okay.
00:31:01I can see that.
00:31:02That's fair.
00:31:04Teamwork is good?
00:31:06Yeah.
00:31:07Yeah.
00:31:07I don't know.
00:31:08That's a good idea.
00:31:09Okay.
00:31:15I'm just like, now I'm confused.
00:31:18I do think it looks period right now, but I think if we soften parts of it, I think it's
00:31:24going to work.
00:31:30At least get this done before she gets done.
00:31:33We can put, like, the small ones there and get it heavy, and then...
00:31:36So you think I just put the whole fabric on it?
00:31:41And then save us, like, a million hours?
00:31:44I know.
00:31:45Our plans are matching.
00:31:47Yeah, it looks like this.
00:31:48The more that we work on this look, the more I can see the actual inspiration of the challenge
00:31:53come to life.
00:31:54I actually came out to my mom in the midst of having her accept my choice to go to fashion
00:32:03school as a career choice.
00:32:05It was a very hard struggle for the both of us until I became a finalist for Project
00:32:10Remy.
00:32:10You've arrived.
00:32:11I have goosebumps.
00:32:12I know.
00:32:12So do I.
00:32:13She actually sat down and watched my own collection coming down.
00:32:18That moment changed everything for us.
00:32:19And that's why I keep coming back.
00:32:21I'm really thankful.
00:32:22Thank you, Mom.
00:32:23Oh, there he is.
00:32:25Hi, designers.
00:32:26Hi, Christian.
00:32:28Oh, Lord.
00:32:28All right.
00:32:29Let the model fitting begin.
00:32:31Woo!
00:32:31Yes!
00:32:32Model.
00:32:34Hi.
00:32:36Hi.
00:32:37Look at our queen.
00:32:41You look so pretty.
00:32:43I'm going to have you step in to her.
00:32:48I can get you started in the pants.
00:32:50We are thinking of using this fabric for the head wrap.
00:32:54It has to be that.
00:32:55Yeah.
00:32:56Serving them goddess.
00:32:58Feathers?
00:32:58Not yet.
00:32:59Well, don't be making her look like Doris Day, all covered up.
00:33:02No, it's going to be sheer.
00:33:03The bag's going to be open.
00:33:05We're going to make it dramatic.
00:33:06The beading is sophisticated, but you've got to make it like modern and young and fresh.
00:33:11I like the idea of making it see-through and sexy here and opening the bag.
00:33:15Thank God.
00:33:15Yes.
00:33:16Mm-hmm.
00:33:18Wow.
00:33:19Giving it a little icy.
00:33:21Wear her skates.
00:33:22I do not want any skating reference because, first of all, it doesn't look like a skating outfit.
00:33:28I wish they connected somehow a little bit more because they feel really different.
00:33:32Maybe there's one thing that you could do-
00:33:35To marry the two.
00:33:35To marry it.
00:33:37Okay.
00:33:38You know what, Kataya?
00:33:40A little leather slither right around here.
00:33:44This.
00:33:46Where the crinoline is, is creating quite a shelf.
00:33:49We were going for fullness.
00:33:52Maybe there's ways that you can create volume with just the tulle.
00:33:55Uh-huh.
00:33:56Or there's peplums or overlays or shapes or something else.
00:34:02It is too late to make it from the pretty to edgy.
00:34:07We just have to finish this dress.
00:34:10What is happening over here?
00:34:12Is the armor gone?
00:34:15No.
00:34:15Oh, no.
00:34:16We wanted to do a modernized portrait collar.
00:34:20Uh-huh.
00:34:21Are you gagging over it?
00:34:22Do you love it?
00:34:23I'm almost there.
00:34:25I'm not there yet.
00:34:27You're covering up the most beautiful part?
00:34:29We don't know.
00:34:30You guys play around with this.
00:34:33It's getting there.
00:34:34Still needs some refining.
00:34:35I mean, she's kind of something else.
00:34:36I'm in love with her.
00:34:37She's something else.
00:34:37She's something else.
00:34:39She's something else.
00:34:40She's giving.
00:34:42Wow.
00:34:43Perfect.
00:34:43You can just fit hook and eye in there.
00:34:45Yeah.
00:34:46I don't know what this pant is.
00:34:50It's not the most beautiful fitting pant yet.
00:34:53I think you need to work on what this pant is.
00:34:55Yeah.
00:34:56Honestly, just a straight panel would look amazing under this, too.
00:34:59No, the pant makes it, like, masculine-feminine thing, but, like, it's got to be fab.
00:35:04I think we can assume that the skirt works, the top works, and the harness works.
00:35:08And we should just flip those pants inside out and pin them and take them in right now.
00:35:13What are you running for?
00:35:14You're making a shoulder pad.
00:35:15I know.
00:35:18All right, designers, say goodbye to your models.
00:35:20Goodbye, designers.
00:35:22Bye.
00:35:23Thank you, ladies.
00:35:26Bye, babe.
00:35:27Bye.
00:35:28All right, designers, I'll see you guys tomorrow.
00:35:30Good luck.
00:35:31It's going to be a stunning show.
00:35:32I'll be on my throne.
00:35:34Bye, Christian.
00:35:35Bye.
00:35:35Goodbye.
00:35:36I need an extra four hours, please.
00:35:41She looks cleaner.
00:35:43Yeah, now I'm content with this fit.
00:35:45Well, it looks good.
00:35:46I'm just going to go ahead and put this on until we'll just give it month.
00:35:49And if it's too long, I can just shred it.
00:35:52Okay, I'm sorry.
00:35:53It's time.
00:35:55No.
00:35:58All the knots.
00:36:01Oh, it's nasty.
00:36:03It's rainy.
00:36:04Oh, man, so cute.
00:36:06Is it raining?
00:36:07Oh, my God, I'm melting.
00:36:15Jesus.
00:36:16Okay.
00:36:17It feels like I was just here five minutes ago.
00:36:21Okay, and I'll get this last little thing on the back.
00:36:23Tack.
00:36:23Okay.
00:36:24That's why she's done.
00:36:25Are you okay if I split this up so I can do this in?
00:36:28Okay.
00:36:29Hi, everybody.
00:36:30Hi.
00:36:31Loving the suit.
00:36:32Good morning.
00:36:32Good morning, Christian.
00:36:33All right, designers.
00:36:34Who wants a model?
00:36:35Woo.
00:36:35Pretty girls.
00:36:36Hi.
00:36:38Hi.
00:36:39Good, good.
00:36:39Hi, love.
00:36:41How are you doing?
00:36:42Turn to Hester.
00:36:43Last minute.
00:36:44Perfect.
00:36:45Beautiful.
00:36:45We did, like, a little leather belt.
00:36:47I kind of like it.
00:36:48It works.
00:36:49Okay.
00:36:51Is this dramatic enough at the shoulder?
00:36:53Okay.
00:36:54Can I have a little?
00:36:57No time.
00:36:58All right.
00:36:59I know, I know, I know.
00:37:00All right, designers.
00:37:01When you're ready, take your models to the makeup studio and the Tresme hair salon.
00:37:05Hi.
00:37:08How are you?
00:37:10We love you.
00:37:11We love the baby hairs.
00:37:12Just, like, natural beauty on max.
00:37:15Just, like, clean, pretty, but definitely, like, contoured.
00:37:18Love her brows.
00:37:19Okay.
00:37:21Did it.
00:37:23Yes.
00:37:23Oh, I love it.
00:37:25All right, designers.
00:37:2515 minutes.
00:37:2615 minutes.
00:37:31Can I snap it?
00:37:33Yeah, can you hold it?
00:37:34Oh, I'm bored.
00:37:38That's it.
00:37:40All right, designers.
00:37:40That's time.
00:37:45All right.
00:37:46Trim, trim, trim.
00:37:48Anna, you have a lot to do.
00:37:50You better sew this every inch of your life.
00:37:55All right, designers.
00:37:56One minute.
00:37:57Let me just put on this side a little bit.
00:37:59Will you just tell me if the waist is centered now, because I'm pulling it as tight as I need to?
00:38:03You're going to fan this out?
00:38:04Yeah.
00:38:04So it's all ready?
00:38:05Mm-hmm.
00:38:06Do you think I need to stitch this more, or do you think we're good?
00:38:08I think we're good.
00:38:09All right, designers.
00:38:10That's it.
00:38:10We did it, girlfriends.
00:38:11You guys ready?
00:38:12All right.
00:38:12Yes.
00:38:13It's going to be a gorgeous show.
00:38:14Hi, everyone.
00:38:27Hi.
00:38:28Well, you look fabulous today.
00:38:31Somebody understood the assignment?
00:38:33Yes.
00:38:34Well, we got all dressed up for you for this runway show.
00:38:37Yes.
00:38:38I didn't get the dress-up memos.
00:38:40Somebody get him a crown, please.
00:38:44Can we grab one?
00:38:46It's my honor to introduce our guest judge for this challenge.
00:38:50He's dressed American royalty, Michelle Obama, cinematic royalty, Gwyneth Paltrow,
00:38:56the creative director of Carolina Herrera, and my good friend, Wes Gordon.
00:39:02Hi, guys.
00:39:04It's Wes Gordon, one of my favorite designers of all time.
00:39:09I'm so excited to be here today, and I'm so excited to see this incredible challenge and the pieces you've made.
00:39:14Carolina Herrera is amazing.
00:39:16This is my brand.
00:39:18That's it.
00:39:19All right.
00:39:20Let's bring on the gowns and start the show.

00:39:45Yes!
00:39:46Yes!
00:39:47Yes!
00:39:49I feel really good.
00:39:50The look is feminine, it's romantic.
00:39:52I'm not expecting to win this challenge.
00:39:53I hope we're just safe.
00:39:54I think that we're both thankful that we made something really pretty and that it's over.
00:39:58I think we just did a pretty gown rather than having something different.
00:40:01I feel a little bit disappointed for what we sent to the runway.
00:40:03Roberta literally looks like European royalty.
00:40:14I couldn't be happier.
00:40:20I love the glove reference.
00:40:22Yes, baby.
00:40:26After rocking the bottom on the previous episode,
00:40:30this is my redemption.
00:40:31I'm putting myself in a tub.
00:40:43Wow!
00:40:48A gown for a royal needs to be loud.
00:40:51We have the drama.
00:40:53I think some of the others are a little bit more boring
00:40:55and maybe ill-fitting.
00:40:56This is Game of Thrones.
00:41:06Our look is perfect for this challenge of gown for royalty.
00:41:11Rihanna, Beyonce, JLo, Gaga,
00:41:15they would all wear this gown, no question.
00:41:17My heart is about to explode
00:41:23just by seeing the silhouette behind the scrim.
00:41:29Yes, off with their heads, honey.
00:41:31Yeah.
00:41:33Definitely seeing a lot of pageant-ready looks,
00:41:35and we absolutely didn't take that course.
00:41:37So I hope they can understand
00:41:39that this is what we see for the future.
00:41:50If the judges did not pick this as a top look,
00:41:53I will lose it today
00:41:55because this is impeccable.
00:41:57I'm feeling amazing to see my look go down the runway.
00:42:13Rami and I spent so much time
00:42:15creating such a chic and modern gown.
00:42:19Really well-made for 15 hours.
00:42:23Incredible, extraordinary.
00:42:25The gown fits her like a glove.
00:42:29The train looks really beautiful.
00:42:31The way the sleeve wraps around
00:42:34from the shoulder down to the cape.
00:42:36It's a sculpture.
00:42:37It's really beautiful.
00:42:38I'm so proud of her.
00:42:44Hey!
00:42:45Hey!
00:42:45Oh, my God!
00:42:46Hey, you better serve.
00:42:49Hey!
00:42:52She comes out, and it's like,
00:42:54whoa, girl.
00:42:55I'm even like, who made this?
00:42:56Oh, we made it?
00:42:57Oh, okay.
00:42:58It's amazing.
00:43:00I cannot tell who in the hell is hers.
00:43:05You can see this regal, royal, young queen.
00:43:11Overall, this is a hit for us.
00:43:13We're just sucking it in
00:43:14because it's just too goddamn beautiful.
00:43:19Thank you, you guys.
00:43:27Bravo.
00:43:28Thank you, Nina.
00:43:29Well done.
00:43:30There were no bad looks tonight.
00:43:32Can all of you please step up to the runway?
00:43:42Designers, we've scored your designs,
00:43:44and we would like to speak to all of you.
00:43:47That's a twist.
00:43:48There will be a winning and a losing team,
00:43:51and someone from the losing team will be out.
00:44:02Designers, we've scored your designs.
00:44:06The winner will come from the winning team,
00:44:08and someone from the losing team will be out.
00:44:13All right.
00:44:14Let's get the first look out here.
00:44:15I knew I heard her.
00:44:20Hi.
00:44:27Rami, Bhishmi.
00:44:29Hello.
00:44:29Talk about your partnership.
00:44:31Tell us about your look.
00:44:32We did an amazing job with just intersecting our strengths with each other,
00:44:36understanding, like, what's the best thing that we can do for a woman that we feel like should be queen
00:44:41and not just coming from a role family.
00:44:43Did you guys think about, we're going to go safe?
00:44:47We wanted to take elements from classic things and incorporate them in a new, modern way.
00:44:51And sometimes when it looks simple, it takes a lot of work to make sure that the references are there to kind of like showcase the modern twist.
00:45:00I really enjoyed the simplicity of this classic gown silhouette that we have seen before, but you made it modern.
00:45:07You updated it.
00:45:08This was one of the chicest dresses.
00:45:10You guys have an amazing understanding of drape and pattern making.
00:45:14Coming from you, that's a big compliment.
00:45:16So thank you for that.
00:45:16But is this the one that stands out, like that she is the one being crowned?
00:45:21That's where I'm kind of hesitating.
00:45:23I think this is a classic.
00:45:27I particularly love the drape of that half shoulder, which looks like a half cape, but why black?
00:45:36If it's for everyday woman, like how we were thinking, sticking with black felt like it was a perfect choice for us.
00:45:43I could see a young royal stepping into this big moment.
00:45:48Where I didn't think that you needed it was in the embroidery.
00:45:52It took me from a royal place to a pageant place.
00:45:55I would have loved to have just taken that illusion tool away.
00:45:59Give us the modern tiara, the fantastic ponytail, the ponytail to end all ponytails.
00:46:10Vishmi, Rami, thank you.
00:46:11Sarah, you can leave the runway.
00:46:14Hate to see it go.
00:46:17Let's get the next look out here.
00:46:22Oh.
00:46:23It's not a big hole.
00:46:24Hey, Mama.
00:46:28How you doing?
00:46:29Good.
00:46:32Brittany, Anna, tell us about your look.
00:46:35So our queen is from an all-woman planet, kind of like a Wonder Woman situation.
00:46:40Essentially, the idea of this planet is that every woman is a queen, and we really wanted to keep it modern with embracing the very feminine aspects of what we both do.
00:46:52My eye immediately went to the train.
00:46:54If you would just turn around, please.
00:46:56It feels wilted.
00:46:58It feels sad and heavy.
00:47:00And I question the selection of the tool.
00:47:02Would an organza have been better?
00:47:04Something with more body to tie back to those shoulder pads.
00:47:07Nina?
00:47:08It feels almost like a costume.
00:47:11Is she nipped at the waist, or is that supposed to be wider?
00:47:15It looks ill-fitting.
00:47:17What happens when you lift that part up?
00:47:20I feel like the gathering of the tool brings everything down.
00:47:25Okay.
00:47:26Who did that?
00:47:27I did the skirt.
00:47:29Brittany, what did you do?
00:47:31The corset top and then the sleeve.
00:47:33You know I love you both, so it pains me to say that I don't love this look.
00:47:39I wish that you gave us something that felt a little bit younger, more modern.
00:47:44We have seen some really inventive things from both of you.
00:47:47This is when you really have to tap into who you know you are.
00:47:51It's time to get risky.
00:47:52Anna, Brittany, thank you both.
00:47:55Thank you, Brendan.
00:47:57Thank you, y'all.
00:47:58Okay, moving on.
00:47:59Let's get our next look out here.
00:48:01Oh.
00:48:03Here we go.
00:48:09Laurence, Carisson, tell us about your collaboration and about your look.
00:48:13When I think of royalty, I think of a cape and a beautiful gown.
00:48:17And we really wanted a European queen, like Laurence was born in Paris.
00:48:21I'm an Air Force brat.
00:48:23I was born in Germany.
00:48:24Laurence brought this fabric from home.
00:48:26And I know it's contrasting, but I love a contrast.
00:48:30Laurence, so why did you choose to use your fabric from home on this challenge?
00:48:35This is my Parisian inspiration, which in the beginning, I just wanted to show her the fabric
00:48:40and go to the moon and find something similar to that.
00:48:42But we didn't find anything that we wanted, so we decided to go with the black fabric.
00:48:47But I love this fabric.
00:48:48I loved that immediately when your model came on the runway that I could see a piece of both
00:48:54of you because that so rarely happens when you're paired up together.
00:48:59This is one of my favorite looks.
00:49:01I love the sheer panels.
00:49:04I love the intelligently placed ruffles.
00:49:06I love the drama of the back once the cape came off.
00:49:10I love the skinny black leather belt.
00:49:12I think the cape is very chic, very well made.
00:49:15And I think the dress is quite beautiful.
00:49:17I think they have no business being together.
00:49:20Ladies, was this an homage to Karl Lagerfeld?
00:49:23I love Karl Lagerfeld.
00:49:24That's like one of my number one inspirations.
00:49:27Well, it's all here.
00:49:29I know that you don't like the cape.
00:49:32I kind of love the cape.
00:49:33I love that play of the black and the white.
00:49:37I particularly love the leather detail that gives it that color.
00:49:41I really liked it.
00:49:42This was dressing a royalty from the future.
00:49:46Thank you, Laurence.
00:49:48Thank you, Karisan.
00:49:49Thank you so much.
00:49:50Okay, let's get the next look out here.
00:49:54Oh, it's okay.
00:49:56Yes.
00:50:02Victor, Kane, who is your royal?
00:50:05Where are they going?
00:50:07Our girl is definitely like Queen Bee, Beyoncé.
00:50:11Lady Gaga.
00:50:12We both dress celebrities and we're like, why don't we do something that we already do?
00:50:16The leather is me.
00:50:18The softness is hemp.
00:50:19We just wanted to go from performance to beauty.
00:50:22Can you explain where the dress ends and the accessories begin?
00:50:25So this is all a full dress.
00:50:27This is nude illusion all the way to the neck.
00:50:29It was like an embroidery fabric that we cut into an applique and we added all by hand.
00:50:33Also on the leg.
00:50:34So where does the leg end?
00:50:36It's sewn into the waist.
00:50:37To the waist here.
00:50:38Okay.
00:50:38So with the exception of the corset, the dress is one piece.
00:50:42Correct.
00:50:43Yes.
00:50:43Wow.
00:50:44Okay.
00:50:44I love the hat.
00:50:45Personally, it veers into costume a little bit.
00:50:48I found it to be more beautiful when you took the corset off.
00:50:52Let's take the corset off.
00:50:59All of a sudden, you have a really beautiful gown.
00:51:03I am stumped of what to say because the work is there, but the accessorizing is so over
00:51:10the top that it's hard for me to consider it as a gown and not a costume.
00:51:18I am kind of stumped of what to say because the accessorizing is so over the top.
00:51:35So who did what in this?
00:51:36Yeah, who took it over the top?
00:51:38Can I see the back?
00:51:39This part was definitely my portion.
00:51:46The corset, draping and making the pattern was Victor.
00:51:50Victor did the draping of the headpiece, and then my main focus was the construction of
00:51:55the bodice.
00:51:56You two are the winners of the last two challenges.
00:52:00It's an explosive combination.
00:52:03If this were a stage performance challenge, you would have run away with the gold.
00:52:09medal.
00:52:11But this would deeply concern me if I saw a royal walking out in this.
00:52:16It just was too many things together.
00:52:20Victor, Kane, thank you so much.
00:52:22Wren, you can leave the runway.
00:52:28All right, let's bring the model out.
00:52:31Oh, that's nice.
00:52:32That's nice.
00:52:35Hester, Fabio, how did you arrive at this look?
00:52:38We come from the New York underground queer scene.
00:52:41We feel like we needed what a gown would look like for us.
00:52:44Yeah, and what a gown would look like for the world we want to create.
00:52:46Because we really felt that there wasn't a representation of a queen who fit our perspective of regal and royal.
00:52:52And Mimi, do you mind if we see the pants?
00:52:55Oh, this slips off.
00:52:56So she can go from there.
00:52:57We actually designed, like, a three-look collection so far.
00:52:59That's so brilliant.
00:53:00Like, in 15 hours?
00:53:02In 15 hours.
00:53:03When I saw this, I was like, this is a risk.
00:53:08But it made me very curious and very pleased.
00:53:12That's good.
00:53:13I could see Meghan Markle wearing this.
00:53:15Oh, that's royalty.
00:53:16Right?
00:53:16That's royalty.
00:53:17A modern royal vibe.
00:53:19Like, that's what you gave us with this look.
00:53:21I personally, and it's subjective, find this fabric to feel a little sad and older.
00:53:29So we chose this color because to us it felt like the perfect mixture between, like, the black classic and the white classic evening.
00:53:36So for us, as looking at it as a non-binary or gender fluid, we were trying to funnel that into the color of the work.
00:53:43I love the drape of it.
00:53:44I love the modernity of it.
00:53:46I thought it was very successful.
00:53:47Hester, Fabio, thank you.
00:53:51Shall we get our final look on the runway?
00:54:01Hey, lady.
00:54:03Kato, Praje, tell us about your collaboration together.
00:54:08I'm 100% African, born and raised on the continent.
00:54:10And we wanted to tell the story of a people that were taken to different parts of the world.
00:54:15So Haiti, Barbados, Jamaica.
00:54:17Everything we picked was very intentional.
00:54:19From the blue fabric, the flow of it, the waters.
00:54:23I mean, there was a lot of traveling.
00:54:24We've gone through so much.
00:54:25And still to this day, still fighting for rights.
00:54:27So that's why we decided to create our queen when she steps into the room, all eyes on her.
00:54:35This beading here is Kato's fabrics from home.
00:54:37And I have to give her great props and respect for actually wanting to use that in a team challenge.
00:54:43And of course, Kato and Praje, you're going to get a head wrap.
00:54:47You did something with styling that I think was quite important, which is that you used the fabric from the opera coat, which I love, as the headpiece.
00:54:57If you hadn't done that, I'm not entirely sure how married together the coat and the dress would have been.
00:55:04But that simple touch made the whole look.
00:55:07So well done with that.
00:55:08Kato, your story was beautiful.
00:55:12Thank you, Nina.
00:55:13The choice of the blue with the burgundy.
00:55:16She looks special.
00:55:18It's a compliment coming from you.
00:55:20I thought everything about it was the definition of what this challenge is about.
00:55:27I've watched Kato for years.
00:55:28So we knew this moment right there was already defined in the universe.
00:55:34A lot of my inspirations are here and I don't want to cry.
00:55:38I know.
00:55:39Don't make us cry.
00:55:40That's why this group is so special.
00:55:42Yeah, like these tears are just tears of joy.
00:55:46This pot of soup is like ready and I have something to say.
00:55:50I just want to be seen.
00:55:51You have absolutely made the ancestors proud today.
00:55:54Yay!
00:55:55Without African fabric.
00:55:57I just got hot.
00:55:57It's brilliant.
00:55:59Who did what?
00:56:00Can you just break it down?
00:56:02Kato is all over the coat.
00:56:04I did the dress and then she definitely did come and help a placement on this fabric.
00:56:10I prayed to God like, Lord, let me guide him and not hurt his feelings.
00:56:13But all these rhinestones can't go on this dress.
00:56:16Beautiful work, you two.
00:56:18Jessica, you can leave the runway.
00:56:21Jessica is such a believable queen.
00:56:23Oh my God.
00:56:24Designers, there really wasn't a worst of the group.
00:56:30It's just picking the smallest things out.
00:56:33That being said, we're going to ask you to leave the runway while we decide who will win and who will go home.
00:56:44I love you.
00:56:49You're not leaving.
00:56:50Literally, that was so beautiful what you said up there.
00:56:55Beautiful.
00:56:55Okay, so the challenge was to create a gown fit for royalty.
00:56:59I think that they all delivered.
00:57:01Yes.
00:57:02But let's decide who stays, who goes home.
00:57:06I can genuinely say I do not know who's going home.
00:57:08I know.
00:57:09Or who's winning.
00:57:10So we know who's safe.
00:57:13Hester and Fabio, Vishmi and Rami fall somewhere in the middle.
00:57:19Agreed.
00:57:19Agreed.
00:57:20Let's do the fun part first and decide who gets the crown tonight, shall we?
00:57:23Yes, please.
00:57:24Between Laurence and Carassonne and Kato and Praje.
00:57:29I am partial to Laurence and Carassonne's look.
00:57:34There's a lightness, a freshness.
00:57:36And as an individual piece, that's probably the dress you'd be most likely to wear to an event in New York.
00:57:42Exactly.
00:57:42But Kato and Praje had an exuberance.
00:57:47There's just those magical moments sometimes in fashion when it all comes together.
00:57:52It so rarely happens, but it's such a joy to witness.
00:57:55And for me, Kato and Praje tonight have that.
00:57:59I think what brought the grandeur of this outfit was really in the choice of fabric, and that was all Kato.
00:58:07Now for the hard part, we have to decide the losing team, and beyond that, we have to decide who's going home, who wants to start.
00:58:15Oh, God.
00:58:16Not it.
00:58:16Not it.
00:58:17What's really challenging about picking who's going home is that Victor and Kane and Anna and Brittany had two very different problems.
00:58:29I was, frankly, bored by what Anna and Brittany sent down the runway.
00:58:33But on the other hand, I was overwhelmed by what Victor and Kane put down the runway.
00:58:40One of them was giving us full-time Vegas, and the other one is just basic and cliche.
00:58:48Mm-hmm.
00:58:48If Anna and Brittany are our least favorite team, who goes home?
00:58:52Who did the mesh arms?
00:58:54That's who needs to go home.
00:58:56Brittany did the upper half, which was the arms.
00:58:59Anna did that skirt.
00:59:00The overskirt is the culprit, because the weight of that took an ephemeral light dress and stretched it down.
00:59:06Yes.
00:59:06But if Victor and Kane were our least favorite team, who would go home?
00:59:11Victor told us he made the corset, and if that's what's the problem, then Victor should go.
00:59:18But what we don't like about this look is how costumey it is, and Kane is a costumer.
00:59:24So I think we know who is going home.
00:59:27Are we all in agreeance?
00:59:30Yeah.
00:59:34Let's get the designers out here.
00:59:44Okay, designers.
00:59:45We have two favorite looks of the night.
00:59:49Cato and Praje, and Laurence and Carassonne.
00:59:53Your two teams delivered exactly what we were looking for, a look that was fit for a queen.
01:00:03The winning team is...
01:00:06Cato and Praje.
01:00:18But only one designer could be crowned the overall winner tonight.
01:00:22And that designer is...
01:00:30Cato.
01:00:34Or should we say Queen Cato?
01:00:37Yes, Mama.
01:00:40Thank you so much.
01:00:42Congratulations.
01:00:45I feel seen.
01:00:46I'm so thankful to just represent for my people.
01:00:49That really means a lot to me.
01:00:51Your look together had an authenticity that is so important to fashion.
01:00:56It felt unique.
01:00:57It felt true.
01:00:58It was really beautiful.
01:00:59Thank you so much.
01:01:00To get this win in a group challenge, I think it's amazing, and it definitely shows.
01:01:04Watch out for her.
01:01:05She has something to say.
01:01:07I'm still fighting to be seen as a black woman.
01:01:08And so it wasn't just about a look.
01:01:11Laurence, Karasan, Praje, you are all in.
01:01:16Hester and Fabio, Vishmi and Rami, we also loved your looks, and you are all in.
01:01:26You may leave the runway.
01:01:28Thank you, guys.
01:01:30Well done, guys.
01:01:35This is history.
01:01:36Four African-Americans in the top never ever happened in life.
01:01:42Good job, DJ.
01:01:43Good job.
01:01:45Brittany and Anna, Victor and Kane, unfortunately, someone from the losing team will be out.
01:01:53Brittany and Anna, your look felt like you played it safe.
01:02:02We expect much more from you.
01:02:06Victor and Kane, your look needed editing.
01:02:11It was more costume than fashion.
01:02:15This was an extremely difficult decision for all of us.
01:02:20Victor, you're out.
01:02:31I'm so sorry.
01:02:34Brittany, Anna, and Kane, you are in.
01:02:40I love you.
01:02:42I love you so much.
01:02:44You're amazing.
01:02:45Victor, what we saw of you was fantastic, and I know that you have that talent in you.
01:02:54I'm just so happy to be here.
01:02:56I'm so happy to be in front of you guys and to meet you and you and obviously you, but I'm just happy to be here in front of Nina because I admire you so much.
01:03:07You're my queen.
01:03:08You're a goddess.
01:03:09Oh, my God, you're breaking my heart.
01:03:13I am really sad to see you go, and I'm very proud of you.
01:03:18Thank you guys so much.
01:03:20I really, it really means a lot.
01:03:21You can all leave the runway.
01:03:26Yay.
01:03:29We have to remember there's no immunity this season, so one design can be your best, and then the next design can be not well received.
01:03:37Oh, my God, everyone's-
01:03:39Wait, they're all-
01:03:40All safe.
01:03:40You're safe.
01:03:41I'm going home.
01:03:42What?
01:03:43What?
01:03:44Yeah.
01:03:45I'm very sad.
01:03:47I wanted to make it to the end.
01:03:48I wanted you guys to see a lot more of me.
01:03:49It's going to be a few months of hard doubting myself, what did I do wrong, but it's part of growth.
01:03:55You know you're incredible.
01:03:56I know you're incredible.
01:03:58Feel good, because it was still stopping us.
01:04:00Thank you, Christian, for everything.
01:04:02I admire you.
01:04:05Bye.
01:04:05Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:06Bye.
01:04:08I'm grateful for everything, but I'm also going to miss being on the runway in the rush.
01:04:18Next on Project Runway All-Stars.
01:04:21What is happening?
01:04:22Oh, my God.
01:04:23Oh, my God.
01:04:24Each of you must create a runway look from this single bolt of fabric.
01:04:29Oh, my God.
01:04:32What are you doing?
01:04:33The crotch is a little wonky.
01:04:34I'm starting to feel fear.
01:04:35This challenge was about standing out, and yours stood out.
01:04:41They do realize they've seen this dress since this competition started, right?
01:04:44Done.
01:04:45Get some bulls*** out of here.
