00:00Previously on Project Runway.
00:02You will be creating a streetwear look that speaks to your brand as a designer.
00:07I just don't think, like, a cool girl would dress that way.
00:11I definitely respect Christian's opinions, but I think my look looks amazing.
00:16I've been on the bottom the last two challenges, and DJ keeps implying that I cannot do this without my brother.
00:22I have to prove to the judges that I am here to stay, that I am here for a reason.
00:26Bro, after last week, we both need to redeem ourselves.
00:29Seriously.
00:30You get a little in your feelings when the criticism comes.
00:33No, I'm taking it in.
00:34It does not feel good to get clocked once again by the law roach.
00:40Congratulations, Belania. You are the winner.
00:43Thank you, thank you.
00:45Yuchen, Joan, unfortunately, you were our least favorite looks.
00:49Joan, I just think that you made something that looks so old, she could go praise the Lord in this outfit.
00:55Yuchen, I am so mad as who over this look because you are a streetwear designer.
01:00I almost want to, like, jump out the chair and beat you up for making this look.
01:04A stake for the winner is $200,000, a spread in Elle magazine, and a life-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
01:15This is Project One Way.
01:17I don't mean...
01:22Joan, Yuchen, we made our decision.
01:26Joan, we asked you to take us to the streets, but you took us to the sanctuary.
01:32I'm feeling bad.
01:34My look spoke to who I am as a designer, but maybe I should have listened to Christian and Jesus.
01:41Yuchen, this was your challenge to shine, but give us nothing new.
01:47I'm sorry.
01:48I feel so disappointed because streetwear is supposed to be my challenge.
01:52I feel like I disappoint everyone, especially Law. I'm sorry.
01:57You're out.
02:02Joan.
02:03Joan.
02:06I'm sorry you're out.
02:09Yuchen, that means you're in. You can leave the runway.
02:13Sure.
02:14Oh no worries, sweetie.
02:16You hurt me.
02:17Oh no, it's okay.
02:19Because...
02:20I'm sorry...
02:21We're so sweet.
02:23You're so sweet.
02:24So sweet.
02:27Aw, the babies.
02:30I just wanted to say we all think that you're a great designer.
02:34And, you know, this was not your week.
02:36This was not your challenge.
02:37You will go back to your business.
02:39Yes.
02:39You dress amazing women.
02:41And I thank you guys for this opportunity.
02:43I am one of the older designers.
02:45You know, I'm 60.
02:47I'm fabulous.
02:48Yeah.
02:48You are.
02:49You can definitely walk out of here with your head up high.
02:52Yes.
02:54Get to hear a bit of a bit of a bit.
02:59All the best to you, Joe.
03:00It's been a pleasure.
03:02Bye.
03:02Bye, John.
03:04You better work for 60, Mama.
03:07Okay.
03:10She's coming from my job.
03:15I just feel so bad that Miss Jo is going home.
03:18I take it personally.
03:20I feel like John has to go home because of me.
03:22It's okay, baby.
03:23It's okay.
03:24Aw, Miss John.
03:26I'm going home.
03:27Stop it.
03:28No.
03:29What are you apologizing about?
03:31You are just starting your career.
03:33Oh, my Lord.
03:35Yuchen, come on now.
03:36You have another opportunity to show them who you are.
03:40It's been a pleasure meeting all of you guys and working with you, and you're so talented.
03:48Oh, I don't want to cry.
03:51Not my auntie.
03:53I love her.
03:56Miss Joan, you are the joy of this season.
04:00Saying bye to Miss Joan is one of the hardest things to do.
04:04She is one of those people that I connected in a deeper level.
04:08She's a very hardworking person.
04:10She's kind.
04:11And I'm going to miss her.
04:13It makes my heart full to even be in the room with you guys.
04:18Miss Joan.
04:19She's got that just love in her soul, and she's offered me a lot of love and a lot of
04:25safe space, and I'm going to miss my little safe space.
04:30Christian.
04:31Joan.
04:32They said I took them to church, Christian.
04:34Not to the street.
04:36See, that's because you weren't there at Moves with me to stop me from buying that fabric.
04:41Call me anytime, okay?
04:44I sure will.
04:46Project Runway saved my life, y'all.
04:49Yo, yo, yo.
04:50I came in this competition to prove to myself that I deserve to be here, that I'm strong,
04:57and I'm proud of myself.
04:59Miss Joan, child.
05:01Mm, mm, mm.
05:02I left it all on the runway.
05:09Shine, shine, shine, shine.
05:11Flex with it.
05:15Don't get it.
05:16No limit, yeah, you know I never stop.
05:19There's six of us now, so the competition is getting steep.
05:23I must make it to the final five.
05:26Oh, God.
05:27Wow.
05:28Oh, my gosh.
05:28I could use a nice.
05:29Oh, my God.
05:30How do you feel?
05:31I feel okay.
05:32I feel like I didn't really get a win.
05:34Congratulations.
05:34And I'm like, I don't really feel like it.
05:37Last challenge, Law said that Belania had an issue with her body language,
05:41where she's being criticized.
05:42When you are being critiqued, your body language gets a little nasty.
05:48I was not doing that.
05:50Now you were.
05:50Wait.
05:51I agree with you, but I have to tell the foundation first.
05:55This is my creative process.
05:59This is my creative process.
06:00She's like,
06:01I don't know if that shit all was like.
06:07Is that how I look?
06:08Belania, I love you, girl, but we better work on the attitude, girl.
06:12Hey, don't like people tell me what to do.
06:17Are you guys ready for the next challenge?
06:18Are you guys ready for the only one that hasn't won?
06:20I was so close last week to take that win home,
06:25which means now I can just taste the win for this next week.
06:32So maybe this challenge, you're going to win it.
06:38Let's see if he can do it without his brother's help.
06:42Let's go.
06:43Let's go.
06:44Let's go.
06:44Let's go.
06:44Go.
06:45Christian.
06:48Oh, Heidi.
06:49How are you feeling?
06:51Like I'm ready for some horsing around.
06:55Well, giddy up.
06:57Let's bring in those designers.
06:59Woo.
07:01Wow.
07:02Oh, my God.
07:03Bringing me back.
07:04Oh, my God.
07:05Oh, he needs to step stool.
07:07That's a big horse.
07:09Chiquito.
07:10This is going to take a hot minute.
07:12Oh.
07:12Oh, I missed it.
07:15Ye to the ha.
07:16You really get your groin out there.
07:19Yeah.
07:20Yeah.
07:20Worked.
07:22Well, as you know, in fashion, one day you're in,
07:25and the next day, you're out.
07:27What started out as 12 designers is now down to the dirty half dozen.
07:32Mm-hmm.
07:33Mm-hmm.
07:34For this next challenge, it's all about Western flair.
07:37Not only is pop culture obsessed with all things country,
07:41from Yellowstone to the queen bee herself, Cowboy Carter,
07:45but runways across the world are saddling up to fresh takes on classic country Western styles,
07:51fabrication, and design.
07:52So for this next challenge, you will be tapping into the zeitgeist
07:57and creating a look that is your take on Western chic.
08:02Western is one of the challenges that Antonio and I are so excited to have in the competition.
08:07I mean, I basically live with a cowboy.
08:09I love my cowboy hat.
08:11I love my cowboy boot.
08:12His closet, it's literally all Western.
08:15Shaps, like leather jackets.
08:17This could be by when.
08:19You have sunrise to sunset to complete your look.
08:23Half of us are gone, and now another one-day challenge is going to decide.
08:28The final five.
08:29The anxiety levels are ramping up, like...
08:32All right, good luck, designers.
08:35Christian, should we mosey?
08:38Thanks, divas.
08:39Mwah!
08:39Oh, God.
08:47This place.
08:48I'd love, like, a burgundy leather.
08:51I know that a lot of designers are going to the leather section
08:54because, yes, it's a Western chic fashion challenge.
08:58And to me, why would I go there if all of you are already going there?
09:04Next!
09:05You're doing...
09:06How is this Western?
09:08You'll see.
09:08Oh.
09:09Silent killer.
09:11Like, I just don't understand how vinyl can be Western.
09:14Sway, sway, sway, sway.
09:16This week, the pressure is on.
09:18I have to win a challenge.
09:20What am I going to do?
09:21So far in the competition, I've used a lot of color, I've used a lot of print, and I'm like,
09:25you know what?
09:26I'm going to shock everyone, and I'm going to do white.
09:28I can do a mini skirt with French.
09:29I can do a mini skirt with French.
09:31I can do my jacket crop with French.
09:32I can do a mini skirt with French.
09:33I can do a mini skirt with French.
09:34It was, like, calling me.
09:35I was like, oh.
09:36Okay, this is cool.
09:37Okay, this is cool.
09:38Okay, this is cool.
09:39I don't know too much about Western culture.
09:42Do you know what a lasso is?
09:43Lasso?
09:44This looks like Christmas.
09:46Do not get this.
09:48This challenge is very personal for me because Antonin and I are from northern Mexico.
09:55When I was three, I remember coming into America in our cowboy boots.
10:00So for this look, I really want to lean into a Western indigenous vibe.
10:05It's in my roots, and it's in my DNA.
10:07And that's why I need to find the perfect fabric, because I have to deliver.
10:12I love my fabric.
10:23Your fabric loves you.
10:26Guys, I'm putting the interfacing by the muslin, okay?
10:29Getting into the workroom, I automatically just go straight to cutting my fabric, because
10:34I really want to figure out what I'm going to make for under this coat now.
10:38I got this beautiful leather, but I don't have much of it.
10:41So I have to be really careful in how I use this leather.
10:45And at this point, I have to make something so innovative and amazing to be able to win
10:50this challenge.
10:51Oh, f**k.
10:57Clearly, you can interface on leather.
11:00What?
11:02Oh, f**k.
11:03I just f**ked up my fabric.
11:05It burned it.
11:06Stop!
11:08Stop.
11:08Oh, no.
11:09Like, I don't know what to do.
11:10I'm freaking out.
11:11I have no backup.
11:12Holy s**t.
11:13Holy s**t.
11:13I haven't really, like, messed up throughout this whole competition, and then this happens
11:24to me.
11:24I cannot believe I just did this.
11:27He interfaced almost all his fabrics for some reason, but leather already has a body, so
11:35why would you interface a leather?
11:38Wait.
11:38That looks cool, though.
11:40Jesus has a top.
11:42It could even be a dress, b**ch.
11:43The burning on Jesus' leather is giving kind of an armpit kind of energy.
11:50Okay, I'm going to be honest with you.
11:53It looks like pit stains.
11:56Because of the coloring.
11:58Are you going to treat it of some sort?
12:01Looks like boob sweat.
12:04Oh, f**k.
12:05I trust Ethan's judgment, so am I screwed?
12:09At this point, there's nothing I can do.
12:12I just have to make it work.
12:17Hello.
12:18Hi, everybody.
12:20Ooh, should we go here?
12:22I'm doing these front panels.
12:24I am making a anything-wear leather gown.
12:27She literally is going to look like a python.
12:30You laugh like a little snake in the grass.
12:32I grew up on a farm, and I had snakes.
12:36You grew up on a farm?
12:37I grew up on country western films, and I literally grew up on a farm.
12:41And these films surround themselves with powerful female energy.
12:46And I'm trying to pull that energy into my clothes.
12:50Yeehaw.
12:50I'm making a two-piece denim western-inspired set with a cotton button-down clothing.
12:58Similar to what you just said.
12:59It's not.
13:00I promise it's not.
13:01It's going to look totally different.
13:02All right.
13:03Are you feeling good?
13:04You won the last challenge.
13:05I feel like a disciplined child, though.
13:07What did Loss say?
13:08My body language is disrespectful when I'm getting a fatigue, so I have to be sharp.
13:13After getting called out about my attitude last week, it's very, very important to me
13:18to show the judges that I'm listening.
13:20I need to leave it in the workroom and not bring it on stage.
13:26We're fringing.
13:28Yeah.
13:28You're going to fringe this whole thing?
13:31For this challenge, I want it to be a little unexpected, but still western chic.
13:36Yes.
13:37I am making a futuristic vinyl fringe dress.
13:41How are you going to do this?
13:44Hmm.
13:44That's a good cross shirt.
13:46I'm going to do a leather jacket crop.
13:49It's going to have a mini skirt that I'm going to fringe.
13:51Don't you think that it's, like, kind of a little bit done?
13:57He's right.
13:58It's just white leather jacket, a white leather skirt.
14:00That's why I want the details to really stand out.
14:03I'm the only one that hasn't had a win.
14:05I've been in the top, but this close to winning.
14:07And I know that the techniques that I have in my brain can really take this look to the
14:14next level and win this challenge.
14:16What did you do?
14:17So, it was a mistake.
14:18I tried to interface my leather and then burn.
14:22I think maybe the burning technique is kind of interesting.
14:27Maybe you do more to the skirt.
14:30Thank God.
14:32So, I'm making this dress.
14:34I wanted to make it all sequins.
14:36And I'm going to have, like, you know, a little bit dripping on here.
14:39I can buy this at the mall right now.
14:42I just wanted to take this shiny part of western, like, you know, culture.
14:45I get it, like a performance S, like Dolly Parton.
14:48Do you know who that is?
14:50No.
14:51Oh, God.
14:53Are you all right?
14:55Need some water?
14:57I guess she is a very big country star.
15:01Yeah, she is.
15:03Here's my thing.
15:04You don't have to make a dress.
15:06You make jackets all the time.
15:07Why don't you make a cool jacket with fringe all over it?
15:10And you love the mini sexy skirts.
15:12And, like, why can't it be more you?
15:16I have to stick on dress.
15:18Fine.
15:18Goodbye.
15:19Good luck.
15:20Last challenge.
15:21The judges didn't like my pants and hoodie.
15:24So, I'm doing something different than making a dress.
15:27I've made my decision.
15:28I just hope I have enough time.
15:31But I will make something on the dress, though.
15:32I'm just telling you.
15:34I'm warning you.
15:35Okay.
15:37You have to win this one.
15:39Everybody has one except me.
15:41Yeah.
15:41I've been close.
15:42I know you've been really close.
15:43How many times?
15:44This is...
15:44I've been close two times.
15:46I was in the top twice.
15:47It's been very exciting to see my brother win any challenges.
15:50But I came into this competition thinking I was going to do better than him.
15:55Wow.
15:56I'm starting to think Jesus is my biggest competition.
16:01Designer!
16:02There's a new sheriff in town.
16:05And there's only going to be room for one twin in this competition.
16:09Who would it be?
16:10Sherr, bitch.
16:11Who would it be?
16:12What is happening on here?
16:14Oh, my God.
16:15One of them has to go at some point.
16:17So, is it today?
16:19What?
16:19Oh, my Lord.
16:20Ah!
16:21I think that dealing with one twin is very challenging.
16:24And dealing with two twins is even more challenging.
16:27They should both go home.
16:29BJ can act bored all she wants.
16:33But she's going to wake up real quick when she's in the bottom.
16:37What is that wig for?
16:42It's a tumbleweave, girl.
16:44That's a wig.
16:45That's why somebody wig.
16:46It's a tumbleweave.
16:47It's a tumbleweave.
16:48It's a tumbleweave.
16:49It's a tumbleweave.
16:49It's a tumbleweave.
16:51Oh, my Lord.
16:53It's not working.
16:55I feel really bad for Yushin because I think that he does not have a clue what Western is.
17:02I mean, he didn't know who Dolly Parton is.
17:03So, if you don't know who Dolly Parton is, you do not know what Western is.
17:07I'm interested to see how he pumps that up.
17:09I don't understand why he's doing a count and not something that's in his element.
17:14Let's say he's pushing himself.
17:16I have hit a wall.
17:18I feel stuck and I'm moving so slow.
17:21I am so thankful for my second chance, but I need to prove I belong here.
17:27Hello.
17:28Hello.
17:29Anybody want to ride on my pony?
17:31Yes.
17:32Yes.
17:33Do I put in the front or in the back?
17:36Okay, give me my pony back.
17:39All right.
17:40Not for the pony.
17:40Okay.
17:41Let's bring in your model.
17:44I don't know about this skirt.
17:48The top looks really cool.
17:49The skirt doesn't look cool yet.
17:50Can you, like, scrub?
17:52I am.
17:52Can it be, like...
17:52I think it's ruined the fitting.
17:53Okay.
17:54Yeah.
17:54You burn it.
17:55I burn it.
17:56I love it.
17:57I mean, I think the whole look turned out so good.
18:00I cannot believe that this mistake might turn out to be the greatest mistake I've ever done
18:07in this competition.
18:08It's looking almost like a piece of bar.
18:10What about we have a lot of, like, fringe from the hat?
18:12To the floor like that?
18:14Yeah.
18:14I think you should make your dress more interesting first.
18:17More interesting.
18:18Or you can add a jacket because it's boring.
18:22But I don't know how to make the progress.
18:24Well, that's the challenge here, my friend.
18:29Mommy Christian is yelling at me.
18:31He want me to make a jacket, but I don't really have time.
18:34Since we already have the base dress, it's time for me to think about how am I going to
18:38make this more Western.
18:40One question.
18:40Do you think this hat or this hat?
18:43I don't care about your stupid hat.
18:46I care about your dress.
18:49What is your story?
18:51I don't have a story.
18:53No, but you have to give them something.
18:55If I had to go to a Western event, I would make this for myself and put it on.
18:59That's all I'm going to say.
19:01Yeah, Christian, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
19:04Does it get a shoulder pad?
19:06I think we can give you a shoulder pad.
19:09Doing this challenge, I know that I want to create something unexpected and out of the
19:14box.
19:14And what I'm doing, I think it's different, but it's a cool dress.
19:19BJ, you don't need any other accessories.
19:22Absolutely.
19:22You don't need any.
19:23No, get that bag out of here.
19:25You have a classic fringe dress.
19:27BJ is very proud of her look, but girl, I feel like she's going to be in the bottom.
19:32I feel like she thinks she thought outside the box, but I don't think she did.
19:36I think she made her model look like a box.
19:38Keep it simple.
19:41All right, designers, that's it.
19:43That's time with your models.
19:44Thank you so much, ladies.
19:46Love you.
19:48Less than three hours to go, and then we're going home.
19:52How to make it interesting?
19:56How to make it interesting?
19:58Maybe give her an old-time, like, saloon girls bustle?
20:02No.
20:02Or, like, a really cool neck scarf.
20:04Scarf?
20:05Girl, I'm throwing you ideas.
20:07You either pick them up and run with them, or you figure it out on your own.
20:12Okay.
20:13I think that Eugene is scared of this challenge.
20:15It is both out of his culture, and he's been really shook up these last two challenges.
20:22Oh, I'm so tired.
20:25Literally, I've been cutting the fringe for, like, eight hours.
20:27I know.
20:28You have a two-day challenge.
20:29Yeah.
20:29For real.
20:30I am pushing myself to the point of exhaustion.
20:34I know it's risky, but I hope that the judges will see the work that I put in.
20:39And maybe if they don't love it, they'll give me some grace to keep me from going home.
20:45It's no time.
20:47One hour left, you guys.
20:50It's no time.
20:51Ethan's dress is similar to the dress that I made from the Boring Fabric Challenge.
21:00The judges don't like it when you show something that the other designers have already done.
21:05Jesus, I saw Ethan's dress, and it kind of reminded me of the gray dress that I made for
21:11Loose, right?
21:12Maybe it's unintentional, you know, but I mean, what do you think?
21:15Well, well, well, the bitch is staring the pot.
21:22I mean, I think it's very heavy.
21:24Yeah.
21:25It's definitely going to stand out.
21:27What do you think about Isla?
21:32It's okay.
21:32I think it's important to be original.
21:35And if your work is referencing the work of your other competitors, then it means that you need to change that, and you need to come up with something else.
21:44I don't want to cause drama, but I need to talk to Ethan.
21:48Okay.
21:49Are you going to be doing a lot of the crisscross detail?
21:53Because when I saw your dress, it kind of reminded me of the gray dress.
21:58Which one?
21:59The wool.
22:00His?
22:01No, my dress.
22:02Yours.
22:03What the f**k?
22:05It's not similar, but it's kind of like the same idea where it's kind of like, it has kind of like a cut out here.
22:11I think that Vijay is spewing bullshit.
22:14I don't agree that a full crocodile gown has anything to do with her wool mini dress.
22:22So when I saw it, I was like, I think I need to tell Ethan because the judges might call you out for that.
22:27Especially Nina.
22:28I was like, don't copy each other.
22:32No way in hell would I want to plagiarize your boring work.
22:35So buzz off.
22:39Hey, we're having a day.
22:41Good morning, fellas.
22:43Yee-haw.
22:44Today is the runway show, and the pressure is on.
22:47We're so close to the top five, and there's no room for mistakes.
22:51We'll see what happens on the runway.
22:56Jesus, who do you think is in trouble today?
23:00You.
23:00Me?
23:01Oh my God, why me?
23:03I don't know.
23:03I don't know what the judges are going to think.
23:05I know.
23:05It's very risky.
23:06It's risky for sure.
23:07I'm worried about Vijay.
23:09Well, I'm not really worried because I want her to be out of this competition.
23:12Model!
23:13The diva!
23:14Hey, girl!
23:14What's up, girlfriend?
23:18Hello.
23:19Hello, girl.
23:20Oh my God, you look so sexy.
23:25Let's see what's going on around here.
23:28Do you think the front fits perfect?
23:29I had to take this whole panel, remove it from the inside, and put it over top to alleviate
23:36the boob space.
23:38My ****, I usually work with.
23:40They're all fake.
23:41They don't move.
23:42And then when I lift that up, that'll relieve the boob tension.
23:45So, like, real **** in this whole competition has been, like, a journey.
23:51It looks cool.
23:53I mean, listen, I don't know what they're going to think because it's a wild card.
23:58Yeah.
23:58I just want you to be prepared.
24:00Oh, damn.
24:00I wanted to sell this before you came.
24:01Ah!
24:02The twins may live and breathe Western, but I'm coming off of a win, and I finally know
24:07who I am.
24:08I'm not backing down.
24:09I'm coming for them.
24:10I just got to watch my body language.
24:12Antonio, please take off the glasses.
24:14I get it.
24:15So, are you going to do the whole boobie horn situation?
24:23Yeah.
24:24I decided to make this bullhorn because I got inspired by Tibet culture, which is kind
24:32of similar to Western culture.
24:34In Tibetan culture, they put all these decorations on the bullhorn.
24:38That means good luck.
24:40And I know the bullhorn is screaming in the Western world.
24:43I think they're going to like it.
24:44You're going to be very, very slay on the stage.
24:52It's something.
24:53Yeah.
24:54She's very horny.
25:00All right, models, you guys can go to the Ulta Beauty salon now.
25:04We are back.
25:06Howdy, cowgirl.
25:07I want her to have pigtails, but I want it to be behind her hair.
25:10So, if I were to go into an Ulta Beauty, do they provide makeup services?
25:14Every Ulta Beauty store has a salon.
25:17Now, our professional stylists are trained to help you find your look, your vibe, and your
25:21moment.
25:22So, everything from makeup to skincare to hair care, we're here to make you feel and look
25:27amazing.
25:28Oh, that's very cool.
25:33All right, designers, that's it.
25:34That's time.
25:35Let's head to the runway.
25:40Hi.
25:42Howdy, Heidi.
25:43Hi, y'all.
25:44Hi, Heidi.
25:45Welcome to the runway.
25:46As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
25:50For this challenge, you had one day to create your take on Western chic.
25:55Let's meet our judges.
25:56CFDA award-winning stylist and image architect, Laura.
26:02And joining us, a country music star and the first African-American female to be nominated
26:08for a Grammy in the country music category, Mickey Guyton, educator, and executive vice president
26:17and creative director for Gap, Inc., and chief creative officer of Old Navy, Zach Pozen.
26:23Perfect.
26:24Oh, my God.
26:25Zach Pozen.
26:26I've seen that face on Project Runway so many times.
26:29This is not cute.
26:31He is very meticulous with craftsmanship, one of the best designers that I know.
26:35It's great to be back in the saddle here on Project Runway.
26:40No pun intended.
26:42All right, let's start the show.
26:48I nailed my look.
26:51It is Western, and it's so chic.
26:54And this burn leather, what really was stressing me out, has turned into greatness.
26:59This burn is a technique that I would definitely do again.
27:02That is gorgeous.
27:04Like, I'm ready for a country make-up.
27:08As I see my look go down the runway, I'm excited.
27:15I'm proud of it.
27:17My eye goes directly to the denim and the tan leather and the sharp point cutouts look really
27:24cool.
27:25I like it a lot.
27:27This one just gives me chills, man.
27:28Like, I'd wear that right now.
27:34I love this.
27:38I love seeing it just snake down the runway.
27:41It's like Robert's probably from 10 years ago.
27:44I just wish it would fit better on the breasts.
27:45It feels really good to see what I have accomplished, the styling and the detail.
27:50And it's fun.
27:51It's a moment.
27:53And if there's anything I know how to do, it's a moment.
27:56It feels like taking me to a country award show, honey.
27:58I'm feeling so proud of myself, showcasing a piece that I put all my soul and intentions
28:11into it.
28:12What?
28:12That is stunning.
28:15I'm a fierce competitor.
28:16Don't underestimate me.
28:18Today's going to be tough.
28:19My vision to create something unexpected and not the usual Western chic fashion is very
28:35risky.
28:37Looking at all the creations on the runway, mine is different.
28:42But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the judges will appreciate that I'm a designer who
28:46takes risks.
28:47It's like Casey Caldwell for prana.
28:50I don't want to stay with her.
28:56It'll be hard.
29:00As Lyriss is going down the runway, I feel so happy.
29:04She's totally rocked out.
29:06And she looks so fierce.
29:07I'm very happy with the outcome.
29:13All right now.
29:14Oh, no.
29:15She's going to sell the bar.
29:16I can literally read Mrs. Law's face just by him rolling his eyes.
29:23I can see that some of these designers are in trouble, and I just hope I'm not one of them.
29:27I can see that some of these designers are in trouble, and I just hope I'm not one of them.
29:34Congratulations.
29:35That was quite the runway show.
29:39We scored your designs.
29:41Antonio.
29:43Jesus.
29:45Alania.
29:47You were our favorite designs this week.
29:49That means Ethan, Hugh Chin, and Vijay.
30:00You had our least favorite designs today.
30:02You can leave the runway.
30:04Come get out.
30:05It's getting hotter.
30:12I'm really sad that the judges did not love what I made, and the rest did not pay off.
30:19But I think I made something bold, and I did not make something basic and literal like the other designers here.
30:27They definitely had the most, like, accessible pieces out of everybody.
30:33Yeah.
30:34I'm just surprised to be in the bottom because I know my look is really good comparative to, like, some of these looks that are so, like...
30:42There's got to be another word for boring.
30:46Like, I just don't think they're interesting.
30:47Like, if I can just go and buy them off the rack, I don't think that is interesting to me.
30:51So...
30:55You will see.
30:58Okay, let's bring out your models.
30:59Yes.
30:59Ah, Barbie.
31:03Stunning.
31:04Thank you so much.
31:05All right, Antonio.
31:06Let's start with you.
31:07It is so special.
31:09Wow.
31:10And to do this in a day, and for that price.
31:12You kind of checked off the boxes for me.
31:14There's conchos.
31:15There's fringe.
31:16You're working with bow leather.
31:18And this band, uh, waistband.
31:20The top.
31:22The belt.
31:23The buckle was black, so I wrapped it in leather.
31:25Such a good idea.
31:26Did the braids.
31:27Risque.
31:28It gives it the fashion edge.
31:30It's stunning.
31:30I'm Latino, so I needed to sex it up a little bit.
31:33I think that this outfit is absolutely beautiful.
31:36Latinos in country music have a very beautiful love affair.
31:41Vaqueros.
31:42Yep.
31:42The conchos, everything.
31:43There's a huge Latino movement in country music.
31:46And to see that and see that you're representing that is absolutely beautiful.
31:51The styling is absolutely phenomenal.
31:54The hair choice, the makeup choice, really, really, really well done.
31:58Well, I think of you every time I style down.
32:01I mean, you should.
32:02I'm the best.
32:03I know.
32:06Okay, Balania, we're going to talk to you next.
32:08When this came out, I knew exactly it was you, which is great, because it's really showing
32:13us that you have a strong point of view.
32:14It's just absolutely stunning.
32:17Love the authenticity.
32:18Didn't feel like you were trying to interpret it as anything else but what it is.
32:22It was very genuine and honest.
32:23And I just thought the lines and everything were so beautiful.
32:26Just love it so much.
32:27You just did a great job.
32:28Thank you so much.
32:28The leather or suede material, can't you just turn?
32:31Let's do it.
32:32It's great.
32:33I mean, there's kind of complicated things happening here, right?
32:35Yes, it is.
32:36That are kind of working together.
32:38You're playing with different proportions, layering, volumes, transparency, graphic, and
32:44it kind of all works.
32:45I feel like you always find this way of putting things together that, in theory, don't really
32:52work in a way, but it totally works.
32:54And that makes it new again.
32:56So I love it.
32:58Jesus.
32:59Hello.
33:00It is stunning.
33:01From every angle, every detail, that coat is just singing, you know, and that it's see-through.
33:07And when she walked, it was so beautiful.
33:09And all this fringe she put on there.
33:10The coat is really, really spectacular.
33:12I love going to vintage stores.
33:14And this looks like it could have easily been from the 70s that someone wore that to Woodstock
33:19and just kept it in the most pristine condition.
33:21What is the top?
33:22Is it a print?
33:23Is it molded?
33:24So creating this kind of, like, beautiful texture was a mistake.
33:29I like the mistake of it.
33:31Same.
33:32Same.
33:33That kind of spontaneity in design process is when the most interesting discoveries get
33:38found, like, the mess that works.
33:40I thought that that was not a mistake.
33:42It's just so beautiful.
33:43Like, out the gate when I saw it, I loved it instantly.
33:46It's just amazing.
33:48Like, it was definitely one of my favorites.
33:49I mean, all of y'all are my favorites.
33:51That's why you are here.
33:55I have to say this was a tough one.
33:57Yes, it was.
33:57Very tough.
33:58I'm picking the winner here because really, you guys all did a fantastic job.
34:03The winning look not only felt true to country roots, it pushed the envelope of what Western
34:08chic looks like.
34:11Congratulations.
34:11This could be my win, my first win, finally.
34:19Jesus, you are the winner.
34:25I'm going to share this with you because you are the winner.
34:28You guys are so cute.
34:30This works for us.
34:31Well, thank you so much.
34:35Jesus wins.
34:37At this point, I am frustrated because I am the cowboy.
34:41And Jesus is not the cowboy.
34:43And I wanted my first win, finally.
34:45Oh, Jesus.
34:46Congratulations.
34:47You can leave the runway.
34:50This was a tough win.
34:52You know, I really wanted Antonio to take the win.
34:55I won.
34:57I mean, I really thought he was going to win.
34:59I mean, your win is his win, too.
35:02I know.
35:02Here we go again.
35:04Jesus won another challenge.
35:06And I'm pretty sure that it's going to make him really, really cocky.
35:10Wow.
35:11I'm so relieved I made it to the top five.
35:14And I'm just climbing to the top.
35:16But BJ, girl, I think your time might be over soon.
35:20Ethan, BJ, and Eugene, you created our least favorite designs.
35:32All right, let's bring out your models.
35:39Ethan, let's start with you.
35:40Tell us about your look.
35:41I created my own evening wear, avant-garde, snake in the grass.
35:46When it first came out, I kind of felt like I'd seen this.
35:49However, seeing it in front of me right now, it's impeccably made.
35:53I thought the dress really is stunning.
35:56I think it was the ties that threw me off personally.
35:59I don't know if that's dark brown or black,
36:01but had it been something more in the tone of the skins,
36:05that would have elevated it a little bit more and made it look even more expensive.
36:09And there's something to me that's going on with the boobs that's not quite flattering.
36:14It's too narrow.
36:15That's what pushed you out of the top three.
36:17The styling is really good.
36:19I love the cowboy hat.
36:20I love the drama with the tail.
36:21And it does feel country, right?
36:23Yes, it absolutely does.
36:24You miss the top three by just a few points.
36:26It's a showstopper.
36:27I'm not mad at it.
36:29V.J. C.
36:31The judges know that my work is not like your work.
36:35Okay, Hugh Chin, can you tell us about your look?
36:37I want to bring this excitement on the runway.
36:39In a little drama, and when she's walking on the runway, there's like...
36:42Like a nipple tussle.
36:43V.J. C. Right.
36:44So it's all about the excitement.
36:45What I'm looking for in this country-western fashion is the authenticity.
36:50And I just don't think that that was executed in this.
36:54I don't understand how you are a streetwear designer,
36:59and you gave us an evening dress.
37:01And a really bad evening dress.
37:04I don't think it fit her that well.
37:05If you're going to play with the satire,
37:08and if it's going to be something that's about, like, horny disco, nasty couture,
37:12then it has to be, like, weirder and stranger and more perverse.
37:17Thank you, Zach.
37:18I feel like you just went for something so nutty that I'm like,
37:22did you think this was a winning look?
37:25The taste level here is beyond.
37:28Beyond.
37:29Beyond good or beyond bad?
37:30Beyond bad.
37:31Yeah, okay.
37:32We hate the dress.
37:34We hate the dress.
37:35We hate the dress.
37:38Okay, V.J., let's hear about your look.
37:40For this particular challenge, it was really intentional
37:42to kind of, like, go on a different direction.
37:46What is it going to be in the future to see what Western fashion is?
37:51So let's start with the good.
37:52The good thing about you is that you know a woman's body.
37:55The way you cut that curve to make her waist look small in the exact place it should,
38:01and using that nude material was brilliant.
38:04Everything else is such a mismatch and so confusing.
38:10Yeah, this was a miss for me.
38:11This looked like a Project Runway nightmare.
38:14It didn't make sense to me.
38:15Western chic, I'm just not getting that here.
38:18Vinyl doesn't say modernity to me or futurism.
38:21It's kind of postmodern.
38:23You know, it's like it's been there.
38:24We've been there since the 60s.
38:26We asked for country chic.
38:27You gave us country shit, and I'm not going to hold that back.
38:31I think you were trying to, like, try something different,
38:34and the things that, like, trust your gut, it's always 100% correct.
38:39Thank you for all the feedback.
38:40Of course.
38:41Both twins are in the top, and I'm in the bottom.
38:45This is embarrassing.
38:47And now I might go home.
38:49This cannot be my ending.
38:51We have a lot to discuss.
38:53And sadly, one of you will be out.
38:55You can all leave the runway.
38:56Thank you so much.
39:01Well, it's really now between Vijay and Yuchen,
39:05because Ethan is safe.
39:07He was our number four today, right?
39:09He made tiny mistakes.
39:11Yeah.
39:11That kept him out of the top three.
39:14Yuchen going for two horns on the breasts
39:16and, like, bedazzling her from head to toe.
39:19Not even enough.
39:21Plastic fringe from head to toe.
39:21It wasn't enough bedazzle for me to make it that weird.
39:24It's, like, not the moment.
39:26No.
39:27Last challenge, I was on the bottom.
39:29It took some confidence away from me.
39:31I've been questioning myself.
39:32If I got the chance to stay in the competition,
39:35I have to be able to shake that off.
39:37Hopefully, they give me that chance.
39:39There was absolutely nothing redeeming about it.
39:42Nothing.
39:43The accessories, the necklace.
39:45Terrible.
39:45And then he just bedazzled it everywhere.
39:47Put the necklace on the hat.
39:48I have that hat from Etsy, by the way.
39:50I know you do.
39:51I do.
39:51I saw you.
39:51Everybody who went to Beyonce's tour had that hat.
39:54I mean, they did.
39:56He lost his confidence, though.
39:57We've all lost our confidence before.
39:59But this has, like, lost the plot.
40:02BJ, I mean, she brought something that didn't feel chic at all.
40:05And the key to good Western, it has to be authentic.
40:09Anytime that it's anything else,
40:11it seems like it's making fun of what Western culture is.
40:15It looked like a really bad costume party.
40:17It really did.
40:18Yeah, I hate it.
40:19You would never wear that.
40:20No.
40:21Right.
40:21This is recycled fashion, and it should be recycled.
40:25All right, let's bring them back out.
40:27See you later.
40:28Bye.
40:28Bye.
40:33Yuchen, BJ, and Ethan, we've made our decision.
40:40I don't think I'm nervous for myself.
40:42However, it's a tight game between Vijay and Yuchen.
40:46And Yuchen, he's been a really good friend in this competition.
40:51So I want Vijay to go home.
40:55Ethan, you're safe.
