00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03Oh, my God.
00:05Designers, your clients for this challenge.
00:07The divas from WWE.
00:09Oh, no.
00:11You think this is too much, though?
00:13It's a little Wonder Woman.
00:15I just think it's...
00:16Hideous.
00:17Really ugly.
00:23Congratulations, Chris.
00:26Of course, I ended up winning the tackiest challenge.
00:30I feel like it looks a little unfinished to me.
00:32I don't like it as a costume.
00:35Ricky, that means you're out.
00:43The winner of Project Runway will receive a spread in Elle magazine,
00:46an opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com,
00:49an all-new 2008 Saturn Astra,
00:52and $100,000 to start their own line,
00:54furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
00:57This is Project Runway.
00:59Let's go.
01:00Hell yes, I'm the best.
01:01You're either in or you're out.
01:03I'm in, they're out.
01:05I wouldn't be caught dead in his clothes.
01:07Fashion is my life.
01:08Who will be the next big fashion designer?
01:10That's me.
01:11Bottom line, I'm the best.
01:13I will own the runway.
01:15For these 15 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:24There's five of us left.
01:29I was surprised that Ricky was the one sent home.
01:33I'm happy that I dodged that bullet.
01:36I so do not feel ready to go.
01:38I think a lot of the designers are kind of freaking out.
01:42But I am used to the moment that comes when you have to do it.
01:48It's been a dream for me to be a designer since probably the age of five.
01:53So this is rooted on a much deeper level.
01:57I came here to show in Fashion Week.
02:00And I'm hopeful that I get there.
02:02So excited for the challenge.
02:04Hey.
02:11Hello.
02:12Hi.
02:15Before we talk about your next challenge,
02:17let's bring out the winning and losing designers models.
02:27Models, this is a competition for you too.
02:31The model paired with a winning designer will get a fashion spread in L Magazine.
02:36Chris, you were the winner of the last challenge.
02:38So you have the option of swapping models with a fellow designer.
02:42Your model was Marcia.
02:44If you decide to stay with her, Amanda will be out.
02:48If you decide to swap, I will bring out all the models for you to choose from.
02:53What do you want to do?
02:55I have to stay with Marcia.
02:58I'm sorry, Amanda.
02:59Okay.
03:00You can leave the runway.
03:02That means, Amanda, you're out.
03:06Bye, guys.
03:07Good luck.
03:08Bye, Amanda.
03:09Bye.
03:11Are you ready for your next challenge?
03:13Yes.
03:14Yeah.
03:15Because it will decide which three of you will make it to Fashion Week.
03:19And two of you will be out.
03:21You're going on one last field trip.
03:28Tim is waiting for you on Fifth Avenue and 82nd Street.
03:32And I see you on the runway.
03:33Bye.
03:34Bye.
03:35I don't live here, so I'm like, what's on the Upper East Side?
03:42The other designers were like museums and fabulous stores.
03:47Can you guys, we go to the flat?
03:48I'm so excited.
03:49We're all kind of speculating.
03:51Well, what's east of Madison Avenue that's worth going to visit?
03:56Wow-wee.
03:57Yay.
04:01We arrived in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
04:04I've never been to it, so it's quite exciting.
04:07Designers, welcome to the Metropolitan Museum of Art,
04:10one of the premier arts and cultural institutions in the world.
04:13Follow me inside and I'll tell you about your next challenge, okay?
04:18Come on up.
04:22The first thing I noticed walking in, it's huge.
04:28It was like a great privilege to be part of the final five
04:32in the Metropolitan Museum of Art with no one else there.
04:36There's nothing more phenomenal and inspiring in this country.
04:49Designers, throughout time, art has served as a critical and essential inspiration for fashion.
04:56For your next challenge, you will choose a work of art to serve as the inspiration for a look of your choice.
05:02I'm extremely happy. This is every designer's dream.
05:07I love this.
05:08That's amazing. What more can any of us ask for?
05:10It's just about artwork.
05:13The Met contains 5,000 years of art and it's one of the largest museums in the world.
05:18So we've narrowed the galleries from which you will choose your inspiration to three.
05:22The Greek and Roman Sculpture Courtyard, where we are now.
05:26The European Painting Wing and the Temple of Dendur.
05:28You will have 45 minutes to seek your inspiration.
05:32And I have cameras for each of you to record the source of your inspiration.
05:36Your 45 minutes will begin now.
05:39Let's go, okay?
05:41The first room is the Roman and Greek Sculptures Gallery.
05:47And nothing could have been better for me.
05:48Let's face it, Rami is going to be choosing this section.
06:01There is no way he's not making something Grecian and Drake.
06:05There were so many things I was in love with, but the statue of Aphrodite was sort of like a soul mate situation for me.
06:14It was like instantly meeting my match.
06:16After that, we headed to the European Painting Gallery.
06:26And of course, for me, that was the most exciting part.
06:30Just because I love European art.
06:32I'm really inspired by this beautiful Spanish military painting.
06:44There are so many amazing paintings in there, and there's actual clothing on people.
06:49There was no one there, and it was so cool.
06:57I probably could have touched a painting, but I didn't.
07:01Where to net?
07:03The Temple of Dendor is an Egyptian temple that was lifted from Egypt and put in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
07:12It's incredible.
07:14It's almost like you're looking at a movie set, but it's real.
07:18Look, Joan Rivers carved her initials in here when she was a little girl.
07:22That's fierce.
07:26Oops.
07:27We're very lucky, all of us.
07:29I know.
07:31I think it was more the experience of being in the room that was inspiring.
07:35It was almost spiritual.
07:37All right, everybody. Our time is up at the Met, but what an experience.
07:41It's great.
07:42Let's head back to Parsons.
07:43All right.
07:44I took like 238 pictures.
07:46I want to just pick something that I like, focus on it, and get to work.
07:50It's pretty amazing.
07:51Hopefully there are no surprises.
07:56All right, designers.
07:58Choose one of the photographs of the works of art, okay?
08:01Okay.
08:02You have one hour to sketch, and then we're going to have half an hour at Mood, where you will have a budget of $300.
08:09You have two days for this challenge, and the styling and makeup will be critical elements in the evaluation of this challenge, all right?
08:16So keep that in mind as you're designing.
08:19I'll be back in an hour.
08:21Hi, Tim.
08:23What are you doing?
08:25I'm doing a men's outfit.
08:27I'm doing like a female version of it.
08:30I chose this fabulous Spanish military-inspired, almost Zorro-like painting.
08:36I didn't want it to be costumey, necessarily.
08:39I wanted it to be more high-fashion, avant-garde.
08:42What one are you using?
08:44Peacock.
08:45Peacock?
08:46I was thinking of that one.
08:48I love it.
08:53I don't feel shameful about choosing Aphrodite.
08:56I connected with the Grecian draping because I know that that is something I'm extremely passionate about, and this is what I do.
09:03All right, designers, you ready to go shopping?
09:11My inspiration is a peacock.
09:14I found a beautiful purple, a teal, and a rusty red that I think are just going to be fantastic.
09:20I put down that boning somewhere.
09:23Oh!
09:25Oh, my God, I need so much stuff.
09:26I needed like 10 yards of organza and white, and then I needed about 15 yards of cotton.
09:31Can I have whatever you can give me on that roll?
09:34I want to wow them.
09:35I don't want to be safe at all.
09:37Take care.
09:38Let's head back to Parsons.
09:39Thank you, guys.
09:44All right, designers.
09:46You have until midnight tonight.
09:48You have all day tomorrow, so make it work.
09:51I'll see you tomorrow.
09:52Bye.
09:53Bye, Tim.
09:54How are you doing?
09:55I'm fine.
09:56Yeah?
09:57Are you on the track now?
09:58Yeah.
09:59I think that this painting in particular, Master of the Argonauts, with the armor that they
10:03used to wear during the fight, was inspiring.
10:04I'm trying to express a certain edgy side of myself.
10:09It's gonna have a whole, like, corseted dress thing out of the oyster stuff.
10:10Mm-hmm.
10:11The colors are pretty.
10:12The painting that I chose as my inspiration is a portrait of an 18th century noblewoman,
10:16and I wanted to do a really super modern couture version of that idea.
10:20Honey.
10:21Are there any fabric left at me?
10:22No.
10:23We all have in the back of our heads that two people are going home.
10:28So I think that people are feeling the need to, like, over-design and add more pieces,
10:35and who has the biggest collar and the biggest sleeve is probably going to be a little bit
10:40about the fabric.
10:41I think that people are feeling the need to, like, over-design and add more pieces, and
10:45who has the biggest collar and the biggest sleeve is probably going to be a little bit
10:48attention.
10:49That'll give it some poof.
10:50Yeah, it will.
10:51It's not always, to me, about who's the loudest.
10:53I'm not here to make noise.
10:54I'm here to make beautiful work.
10:55That's creepy.
10:56I know.
10:57Are you making a collection, honestly?
10:58Yes.
10:59Oh, my God.
11:00I was making, like, 15 pieces.
11:01That's, like, retarded.
11:02Okay, I'm, like, making my pattern.
11:04Oh!
11:05Oh!
11:06Oh!
11:07Oh!
11:08Oh!
11:09Oh!
11:10Oh!
11:11Oh!
11:12Oh!
11:13Oh!
11:14Oh!
11:15Oh!
11:16Oh!
11:17Oh!
11:18Bitches, it's the last challenge.
11:19I have to do something.
11:21I sew fast.
11:22Get over it.
11:23Everyone else in that room should be sewing fast, too.
11:25If you're not, then that's your own problem.
11:28Jillian's been pressing for three hours.
11:30I'm making pleats, so stop worrying about me.
11:34I feel self-conscious enough as it is.
11:36Ew.
11:37Don't get bitchy.
11:38Damn.
11:39Christian is monitoring what everybody's doing at all times, and he's always ahead of
11:45everybody, and he's really arrogant.
11:47Jillian, I'm just not saying anything around you anymore.
11:50I'm so over it.
11:51I'm over it, too.
11:52We should all stop.
11:54Coming up on Project Runway.
11:55Sweet pig.
11:56Your model's late.
11:57If my dress isn't finished, for sure I'll get eliminated.
12:01After you, my darling.
12:02Thanks, love.
12:03Look at her waiting for me today.
12:04Our challenge was choosing one piece of art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art to inspire
12:24fashion.
12:25Would you drop the neckline, hear me?
12:26It's going to be more of a cocktail.
12:28I think at this level of the competition, you have to do what you think is right.
12:33You're right.
12:34I'm lowering it.
12:36I was getting ready to quit my business before I came here, because it takes a lot to do your
12:42own line, and I'm currently out of funds.
12:45So, in a way, I need to win, because it'll save my business.
12:49Hi, everybody.
12:50Hi.
12:51Hi.
12:52Hi.
12:53Hi.
12:54Hi.
12:55I'm sending in your models.
12:56Thank God.
12:57They're here for a fitting.
12:58Yay.
12:59Excellent.
13:00So, you'll have about 30 minutes with them.
13:03All right?
13:04Have fun.
13:05Hi.
13:06Oh, my God.
13:07Where's Lee?
13:08Sweet pea.
13:09Your model's late.
13:10Crap.
13:11Is somebody kidding?
13:12Lee has an emergency.
13:14She's fine, but she can't be here right now.
13:17At all?
13:18I don't know.
13:19But she will be here.
13:20Okay.
13:21All right?
13:22Maybe she will come.
13:23All right.
13:24Let's hope.
13:25Lee had, like, a family emergency or something personal.
13:28Now what?
13:29I'm like, what's happening?
13:31Tim says she is coming, but I'm sort of freaked out.
13:36So, this is our inspiration.
13:41So, you have pants, blouse, jacket, to have a lot.
13:45Fun.
13:46Is it fun?
13:47Move forward a little bit.
13:48Mm-hmm.
13:49I feel good about the dress.
13:51It's not necessarily the loudest piece, but it certainly makes a strong statement.
13:56You're going high couture again here, lady.
13:59There.
14:00Chris's dress was very costume-like and over the top.
14:05It was very similar to the dress that me and him already created.
14:08So, it was a little weird.
14:10Oh, sick.
14:11Sick.
14:12Fabulous.
14:13Do you have a lot to do, Jillian?
14:14Not that much.
14:15Not on the coat.
14:16Just now I have to move on to the dress.
14:18Oh, my God.
14:19What happened?
14:20See?
14:21I told you.
14:22The coat fits her perfectly, but the most difficult part is just the full execution.
14:27I'm not a fast mover.
14:29The whole dress needs to be done.
14:31I mean, there's still a lot for me to do.
14:34Oh, my girl's not here.
14:42Designers, may I ask you to gather around, please?
14:46I have a special guest I'd like to introduce.
14:50Hi.
14:55I want to welcome Collier Strong, consulting makeup artist for L'Oreal Paris.
15:05Welcome to Parsons, the new school for design.
15:07Thanks for having me.
15:08Collier is here to consult with you about the overall makeup look for the L'Oreal Paris challenge.
15:14So, this is a great opportunity for you to think outside of your outfits.
15:18What we want to do is use makeup as an integral part of your artistic expression.
15:24Cool.
15:25So, we're going to begin with Chris and Marcia.
15:29Okay?
15:30Cool.
15:31Go ahead.
15:32This is Marcia.
15:33Marcia.
15:34We could take this pewter color and work it into the eye.
15:38I do think a beautiful compliment to her skin tone would be a bright pink.
15:42I love this.
15:43We could actually make her very androgynous.
15:46Like, make her brow very masculine.
15:48Yeah, I love a really strong brow.
15:50The point here is to really make her look warrior Joan of Arc.
15:53Not overly feminine.
15:55That's so fun.
15:56So, what do you suggest?
15:57Grecian-y, feminine, but there's still an edginess to it.
16:02Thank you so much.
16:03I'll see you tomorrow.
16:04All right.
16:05Bye.
16:06Bye.
16:07We'll see you.
16:08Are you done, Chris?
16:11Yeah.
16:12You're done with your work?
16:14Uh-huh.
16:15Why don't you take a nap?
16:16I was thinking of it.
16:17I just couldn't even get up.
16:19I knew that it wasn't gonna take me that long to finish mine, so I wanted to lay down for a while.
16:28Love you, bye.
16:29Are you joking?
16:30It's the last challenge.
16:31You can't take a nap.
16:32I know I finished early, but you know what?
16:35I'm touching up, snipping threads, but whatever.
16:42All right, let's hope I got this right here.
16:49This is too much color, even for me.
16:54I think my design aesthetic has a very European classic effect.
17:00I graduated high school and basically moved to London for about three years.
17:04Ooh, yeah, yeah.
17:06I started working with Alexander McQueen, Vivian Westwood, and I definitely think that that helped me grow the most.
17:13I know I'm the youngest designer, but truthfully, like, I think I have the most cohesive ideas out of everyone.
17:22Oh, my God.
17:29Hi, everybody.
17:30Hi.
17:31Hi, Tim.
17:32Where's Chris?
17:33He's done.
17:34He's done, and he needed to go to bed.
17:37No one's done.
17:38Well, you tell him, Tim.
17:40I'm gonna go check on Chris.
17:42I'll be back.
17:43Okay.
17:44We'll be here.
17:49Chris?
17:50Yes?
17:54Why aren't you in the workroom?
17:55Because I'm finished.
17:57You're not finished.
17:58You can't be.
17:59Why can't I be?
18:01Is it wow-able?
18:03Yes, it is.
18:05Well, can you come in and show me?
18:07Sure.
18:08I wanna believe.
18:09Okay.
18:13So, talk to me.
18:15So, this is her.
18:17Chris, I don't think it's refined enough.
18:20I don't think there's enough here.
18:22Can you add to it?
18:24No.
18:25I wouldn't add a thing to this.
18:26All right.
18:27You're confident?
18:28It doesn't fit this.
18:29It fits her.
18:30All right.
18:31You own it.
18:32I do.
18:33I'm worried.
18:34Christian.
18:35Hi.
18:36Hi.
18:37What's up?
18:38I love the white shirt.
18:39I do, too.
18:40It's fabulous.
18:41And the blouse looks so good on me.
18:44That's all that really matters.
18:45It really is.
18:46What's the whole hook here?
18:47It's almost as though this is like an obfuscation.
18:49I was going on the whole thing that my pieces can be worn individually.
18:53Yeah, but where else would you wear this?
18:55I think over for evening.
18:56I think.
18:57I'm just saying, in terms of cohesion, it really makes sense.
19:01The last challenge.
19:02Three people are going into fashion week.
19:03I know, ladies.
19:04Don't you worry.
19:05Okay.
19:06All right.
19:07Yeah.
19:08Hi, Tim.
19:09Hi, sweet pea.
19:10So, talk to me.
19:11This whole peacock thing is what's inspired me.
19:12And this is basically what I consider the feathers.
19:15But they're not feathery.
19:16Also, I just think it's like, you know, what's going on?
19:18What's going on?
19:19What's going on?
19:20What's going on?
19:21What's going on?
19:22What's going on?
19:23What's going on?
19:24What's going on?
19:25What's going on?
19:26What's going on?
19:27What's going on?
19:28I'm not using the feathers.
19:29But they're not feathery.
19:30Also, I just wish that peacock were a little more, apparent and exuberant in a way.
19:36And of course, it doesn't help that I'm seeing on the form, not on the model.
19:39Yeah.
19:40Where is that model?
19:42Yeah.
19:43I'm going to try and figure something out here.
19:45Okay.
19:46Make it work.
19:48So, how's Jillian?
19:50I'm doing well.
19:51I'm just cutting the lining for the jacket.
19:53And then this is the back.
19:55And then I still need to do these cutouts.
19:57and I still just need to do the skirt part of the dress.
20:00You know, it's getting late, so now I just need to finish.
20:03That's all I'm worried about, really.
20:05Do it.
20:06I will.
20:09Rami.
20:10Hello.
20:11This is stunning.
20:14I mean, it's what I do.
20:16Can I be really honest with you?
20:17Yeah, please.
20:18Nina doesn't want to say,
20:20I've seen this look from you before.
20:22Yes, but you guys presented me with this challenge,
20:24and I had to take the Grecian draping.
20:26Just keep in mind that it needs to be fresh.
20:31Yes.
20:32I'm going to think about that.
20:34I'm trying to be true to myself, and it could be great.
20:37It could be criticized,
20:38but I feel like I'm ready to back my work up.
20:40All right, designers.
20:42Tomorrow's our last runway show,
20:44so use the rest of your time to make it work.
20:47I'll see you tomorrow.
20:48All right.
20:49Thanks.
20:50Good night.
20:51Bye.
20:52I'm stuck into my model.
20:54Are you okay?
20:56I need my model,
20:57because I'm out of standstill right now.
21:03What are you doing?
21:04We were just talking about you.
21:05Here she is.
21:06Oh.
21:07Hi, Lee.
21:08Hi.
21:09Come here.
21:10Are you all right?
21:11Lee came in at the end of the night tonight,
21:14and I'm glad she showed up.
21:16Mission accomplished.
21:18Let's try it on like this.
21:19It's okay.
21:20Next, obviously.
21:21Are these going to be pockets, or?
21:23The fake ones at this point, I think.
21:25I feel a little overwhelmed.
21:27The dress fits, thank God.
21:30But I have a lot to do.
21:32All right.
21:33Bye, little darling.
21:34Bye.
21:35I decided I don't think I'm going to finish.
21:38Come on.
21:39Really?
21:40You do whatever you have to do
21:41to make it look ready for the runway,
21:43and that's all there is to it.
21:45I'm really nervous about tomorrow's runway show.
21:48Ugh.
21:49It's the last one,
21:50and if my dress isn't finished,
21:52for sure I'll get eliminated,
21:54and that sucks.
22:04Coming up on Project Runway.
22:06I need it.
22:07Nothing works.
22:08It's our last runway show.
22:11I'm tired.
22:22Waking up, day of the runway.
22:24Oh my God, I have to look amazing.
22:27So, I made sure my hair was extra fierce.
22:32The weight of this day is very heavy.
22:35It's the end of this roller coaster ride.
22:38I think that nobody really,
22:40like, absolutely hated each other.
22:42Who didn't hate each other?
22:43I sure didn't.
22:44I mean, damn.
22:46Every five minutes,
22:47I was ready to cut somebody.
22:50All right, let's go.
22:53No time to make your bed.
22:55Let's go, ladies.
22:56Parson's our last day.
22:58I'm going to work.
23:04The first thing I did this morning
23:06was run directly to my sewing machine
23:09because my dress is still in there
23:11from where I left off last night.
23:13Are we gonna kick ass today or what, Romy?
23:16Yeah, I think so.
23:18I'm a little bit worried.
23:19The whole bottom of my dress
23:21hasn't even been finished yet,
23:22so that's not a small amount of work.
23:25This is what determines
23:27who's going to Fashion Week.
23:28I don't want to go back
23:29to working in a cubicle
23:30and contributing to someone else's vision,
23:33so I hope that I make it to Fashion Week.
23:38Good morning, designers.
23:40Good morning.
23:41Good morning.
23:42It's our last day,
23:43so talk about make it work.
23:45Make it work.
23:46So you will have two hours
23:48to send your models
23:49to the Tresemme Hair Salon
23:50and the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room.
23:52Remember, Collier Strong is going to be here.
23:54Remember to use the bluefly.com
23:56accessories wall, all right?
23:58Just blow the judges' socks off.
24:02Give them that electric jolt
24:05that sends Nina's shoes flying
24:07across that runway.
24:09Do it.
24:10All right, I'm sending in your models.
24:12Thanks, Tom.
24:13Come on in.
24:14Hey, Lee, I'm in here!
24:19Oh, so excited.
24:21Yeah.
24:22My coat's finished, but the dress isn't.
24:24So how are we doing?
24:26I'm just now putting a zipper in,
24:27and I got kind of a lot of work to do.
24:30Are you doing the real thing for me?
24:32I'm sending you confidence and peace.
24:35Send it here, honey.
24:37Oh, my God.
24:37Oh, my God.
24:38It's great.
24:39Perfect.
24:40Good.
24:41Christian has a whole collection, pretty much.
24:43I don't know if I personally love this group of work
24:47that he's making.
24:48It's just like a little bit marshmallowy.
24:50That looks so fierce.
24:52That's the thing, this fabric is just so moldable.
24:56It's like, there it goes.
24:58I was kind of at peace with the fact
25:00that if they hated my dress and they eliminated me,
25:04that I loved it, and then I was happy to show that
25:07as my final thing.
25:09You know, going to Bryant Park would be like winning
25:11the lottery, but I don't count on it,
25:14but I don't count it out either.
25:20Yeah, we want eyebrows for days.
25:22It's all about L'Oreal.
25:25Wow.
25:29It's so cool.
25:36Oh, beautiful.
25:37All right, we're ready to dress you.
25:40Why does the steam stop working at the last minute
25:43when I need it and nothing works?
25:45OK, I'm putting it on you.
25:48When it comes down to crunch time,
25:50I'm like, again, cramming at the end,
25:52and I need to get this dress on my model.
25:54Stand really still, Lauren.
25:56Please.
25:58It needs to be the best possible,
26:00and it was just not sitting right,
26:02and I could not see past it.
26:04I need to steam this really badly.
26:06It's really bad, Lauren.
26:08Yeah.
26:09That's right.
26:10Oh.
26:11I like it like that,
26:12but try not to, yeah,
26:14try to do, like, more straight.
26:16I'm so excited.
26:17I know.
26:18I don't understand why Rami
26:20would make another one of these dresses.
26:22He keeps getting in trouble from the judges
26:25for another draped Grecian-style dress.
26:28Bye.
26:29I'm so glad I finished.
26:30I love the lips.
26:31Oh, the dress came out really cute.
26:34Cut those threads off the bottom.
26:36Oh, my God.
26:37Whoa.
26:38I didn't even see those.
26:39I really loved seeing Leigh in my dress.
26:41I thought it looked great on her.
26:42It all got done with five, ten minutes to spare,
26:45and I want to win.
26:47All right, designers.
26:49It's our last runway show.
26:52Are you ready?
26:55That hem is a really big problem.
26:58If I don't make this fashion week,
27:00I would be incredibly let down.
27:02I really worked my ass off, and I deserve it,
27:04but I don't know how this is going to go.
27:07All right.
27:08Here we go.
27:09Coming up on Project Runway.
27:11How predictable.
27:12I mean, come on.
27:14I expect more from you.
27:22Hi.
27:25Hi.
27:26Welcome to the runway.
27:28I want to congratulate each of you
27:30for making it this far,
27:32but only three will earn the right
27:34to show collections at Fashion Week,
27:37so two of you will be out.
27:40For this challenge,
27:42we ask you to choose a work of art
27:44to serve as the inspiration
27:46for a look of your choice.
27:48Okay, let's meet the judges.
27:52First, we have top American designer,
27:54Michael Kors.
27:55Hey, guys.
27:56Hi.
27:57Hi, Michael.
27:58Next, we have Nina Garcia,
27:59fashion director of Elle magazine.
28:00Hi, everyone.
28:01Hi.
28:02Hi, Nina.
28:03And legendary designer, Roberto Cavalli.
28:09We will score your designs
28:10as they come down the runway.
28:12One of you will be named the winner,
28:14and two of you will be out.
28:18Let's start the show.
28:25I was just so excited
28:27because she looked kind of like
28:28some couture Cinderella.
28:30It looked really elegant
28:32and, you know, expensive.
28:43The outfit was so hot.
28:45I know it was really avant-garde
28:46and kind of over the top,
28:47but for the runway for show,
28:50it was perfect.
28:51It was fabulous.
28:52I loved every second of it.
28:59I'm pretty confident
29:00about the way Sam looks.
29:01The dress fits perfectly on her.
29:04I'm passionate about draping,
29:05but it could go either way for me
29:07considering that the judges
29:09want to see a variety of things.
29:11I liked the design of this dress.
29:15I feel like I'm a good designer,
29:21good at merchandising.
29:22I understand what sells.
29:24I thought it looked great on her.
29:26I think I did a good job with mine.
29:37There were definitely little issues here and there,
29:39but I don't see those anymore.
29:41I represented myself the way I wanted to.
29:55We've scored your designs.
29:56One of you will be named the winner
30:01and two of you will be out.
30:04Let's bring out your models.
30:05Okay, I would like to start with Christian.
30:19Well, I actually chose a Spanish painting.
30:23A lot of my work has been a play on masculine and feminine.
30:26I tried to create as many pieces
30:28that could be worn different ways.
30:30What's going on under the blouse?
30:31Actually, you could completely remove this into the blouse.
30:50You really think about the show
30:52and you have the ability to also think practically.
30:57I think it's super, super, super chic.
31:02Chris, tell us about your design.
31:04My design is based on an 18th century painting
31:09of a French noblewoman
31:11and I wanted to do a kind of modern couture version.
31:14I think that Chris is really maybe the most artistic for all of you.
31:21I can see you show in the future your collection in Paris.
31:27Maybe the old couture.
31:29That's what I love.
31:32Well, certainly you understand drama
31:34but I will say it's a little reminiscent of
31:38what we already saw from you with the shoulder piece.
31:41I was thinking the same thing.
31:43You kind of forget how beautiful the dress really is when you've seen it before.
31:47It's kind of the way that I wanted to
31:49reinterpret the big pewter colored bow on the front of her dress.
31:53If you take that piece out,
31:56it would have still been beautiful
31:58and I'm sure that you have other tricks up your sleeve.
32:00Sure.
32:01It's not just this one.
32:02Right.
32:03And that's what I wanted to see.
32:04Okay.
32:07Jillian, my inspiration was the master of the Argonauts.
32:11I felt like I could interpret in a way that was very modern.
32:15I love your interpretation of this.
32:17Mm-hmm.
32:18You keep me surprised.
32:20Really?
32:21And in a good way.
32:22Okay.
32:23The details, they are fantastic,
32:25especially in the back.
32:26I like very much.
32:27I would be very happy to have you with my stuff.
32:29Well, that would be an honor.
32:32As soon as she opened the coat and it was gold inside,
32:35I was like, woo!
32:36Boom.
32:37I was like, wow.
32:39You know, you're giving a nod to the painting,
32:42but I don't think it at all looks like a costume.
32:44I think the dress does great things for her body.
32:48You know, and that's what clothes are supposed to do.
32:52Okay, sweepy.
32:53I was immediately grabbed by this Dutch painting called Peacocks.
32:59It looks like a print to me when I look at it.
33:01I think it's a nice dress.
33:03Wearable, flattering, you know, but it's a show.
33:07You know, it's a show.
33:09This dress is the one that you have in the showroom to sell.
33:12Yeah.
33:13I agree completely with you.
33:15What is more fantasy than peacock tail?
33:21I think that you should do something more special.
33:27You do make a lot of sweet daytime dresses, wearable dresses.
33:32I know you know how to make commercial clothes.
33:34I need to see the next thing.
33:37And Robbie, tell us about your design.
33:40I found much beauty in the sculptures that pretty much resembled movement and flow.
33:46And I picked one that had an ease about the drape in it,
33:51because I am very passionate about draping.
33:54It's too normal.
33:55You are here because you have to show what you can do.
33:58I just feel passionate about the subject, and it was presented to me in this challenge.
34:04Sometimes an idea can be interesting without having to be screaming out loud.
34:09I know you're talented.
34:11I know you have great taste.
34:13And I expect more from you.
34:15You know how to make a dress that many women would like to wear.
34:21I would.
34:22I like it.
34:24It's a lovely dress.
34:25But how predictable that you picked drapery from Rome and Greece.
34:30I mean, come on.
34:31That's the first thing I thought.
34:32We always know it's going to be beautiful.
34:35It's going to be wearable.
34:36And it's always Greece and drapery.
34:38Why is it so negative?
34:39It's not negative.
34:40Every time I tell you the same thing.
34:42I want to see more.
34:43I'm really curious to see if you can do more.
34:45I want to see you out of this box.
34:48Okay.
34:51We've heard what you had to say.
34:53We're going to have a little chat.
34:54And then we'll call you back.
34:55You can leave the runway.
35:07So what did we think of today's show?
35:09I think that we saw some pretty wonderful looking clothes.
35:14And some that were not as extravagant and imaginative as I would have liked to have seen.
35:20What did you guys think about Jillian's?
35:22The jacket was nice.
35:24Yeah, it was beautiful.
35:25The back was beautiful.
35:26Yeah, it was nice.
35:27I think her clothes are impeccable.
35:29I've been surprised by her design.
35:31She's ballsy.
35:32You know, she's all quiet, but her pieces are not quiet.
35:35She goes pow.
35:36Here it is.
35:37All right, let's go to Christian.
35:40For me, it's a talent.
35:42He's good.
35:43Yeah.
35:44He understands how to make clothes that are emotional in a fashion show that can be taken
35:52apart and work in real life.
35:54He delivered.
35:55Yeah.
35:56He delivered.
35:59And then there is sweet pea.
36:01I don't have so much to say about that dress.
36:06Certainly the plus with her clothes, they're the kind of dresses and the kind of clothes
36:11that, you know, they're flattering, they're wearable.
36:13And it's more a commercial vision that she has, which is fine.
36:17Yeah, perfectly fine.
36:18There's a place for that, of course.
36:19Yes.
36:20But that doesn't make for fashion.
36:24Chris.
36:25He made a wrong choice taking something that memorable and doing it twice.
36:29But I will say that that looked like a couture dress.
36:32My vote was the highest, honestly, because I saw art in this piece.
36:40But yet again, I do think that he played it safe.
36:43But I do have to say, he has drama in his blood.
36:48There is undeniably that factor.
36:50He's a showman.
36:51Mm-hmm.
36:52He's a real showman.
36:53I mean, our taste or not our taste, he will put on a show.
36:56Totally.
37:01Rami, he technically is a very good designer.
37:04Technically, he's very good.
37:05Yes.
37:06But he doesn't want to take any risks.
37:09Well, you don't get ahead if you don't take risks.
37:12I like his work.
37:13I think it's sophisticated.
37:14It's well done.
37:15I just think that I want him to show me something else that he can do.
37:19I agree with Nina.
37:20He's a smart, driven designer who is passionate about fashion.
37:25And those are all the things that you have to be.
37:29This is a really tough decision.
37:31Do we know what we are doing here?
37:33Are we all good, do you think?
37:34Yeah.
37:35My mind's made up.
37:36Yeah.
37:37I agree.
37:38Okay.
37:39Let's bring them back out.
37:50Designers, it's been a long journey.
37:52But only three of you will make it to Fashion Week at Bryan Park.
38:09Designers, it's been a long journey.
38:13But only three of you will make it to Fashion Week at Bryan Park.
38:18Let's start with the winner of this challenge.
38:22Congratulations.
38:26Christian, you are the winner of this challenge.
38:30You have shown us a strong point of view throughout.
38:33And this win guarantees you a spot at New York Fashion Week.
38:38You can leave the runway.
38:39Thank you so much.
38:48At work.
38:50Jillian, you're in.
38:52Really?
38:53You are also guaranteed a spot to show at New York Fashion Week.
38:56You can leave the runway.
38:58Thank you all so very much.
39:00I've learned a lot.
39:16Sweet Pete.
39:21Sweet Pete, you're out.
39:23Okay.
39:24We do believe in your talent.
39:26I hate to see you go.
39:32A few days.
39:42I'm out.
39:44I knew it.
39:48I just got eliminated.
39:49And...
39:54I'm a big crybaby.
39:55But...
39:57I mean, I really believe what's supposed to happen will happen.
40:01And I know I'm gonna be fine.
40:03I'm just a little sad.
40:10Rami.
40:11Chris, this was a difficult decision.
40:15Rami, your work has been consistent.
40:18But as this challenge showed, it's been consistently safe.
40:22We question if you can bring anything new to Fashion Week.
40:27Chris, we know you can bring drama to the runway, even if it's something that we've seen from you before.
40:36Like tonight.
40:38But this was your moment to show us something new.
40:41We were disappointed.
40:42We were disappointed.
40:48Chris.
40:51You're in.
40:55Rami.
40:57You're also in.
40:59What?
41:00Rami.
41:04Rami and Chris, we were deadlocked.
41:06So we're going to give you both an opportunity to create collections for Fashion Week.
41:14Now, don't get too excited, because only one of you will make it there.
41:20When you return to New York for Fashion Week, you will show us your three strongest looks from your collections.
41:27We will judge these looks and determine which one of you will move on to compete at Fashion Week and which one will be out.
41:37We believe in both of you, which is the reason why we're giving you this opportunity.
41:43Congratulations, you can leave the runway.
41:47We're both in.
41:48Really?
41:49But they will choose one of us after we do the collection.
41:50Me and Chris still have to compete, so I will certainly create a collection that is very strong.
42:08I'm glad that they are going to give me a chance.
42:10I won't disappoint them.
42:12I'm glad I'm not done.
42:14Why are you talking?
42:16Oh, you guys, congratulations.
42:19Sweet Pea, I love you.
42:21Sweet Pea.
42:23Hi.
42:24Sweet Pea.
42:25It's okay.
42:26I think they deserve it.
42:28We love you.
42:30I'm so happy I made it this far, and I think it was well-deserved.
42:33Love you.
42:34But, um, it was our last challenge before Bryant Park.
42:42And I wanted to go.
42:48Next week on a special episode of Project Runway.
42:51Are any of you upset about anything you've heard others say about you?
42:55Yes.
42:56You know, we all say things that were under the heat of the moment.
42:59I just have to say, if being on Project Runway didn't turn you gay, nothing will.
43:04You want to come sit next to me?
43:07This is just showtime times a thousand.
43:09Upset is probably the operative word for me.
43:12Victoria's always a bit uptight, no?
43:14Or is it just me?
