00:01Previously on Project Runway
00:03Welcome to the red carpet of the Emmy Awards.
00:06For your first challenge, you will create a red carpet look
00:09that represents your point of view as a designer.
00:12What's it going to look like?
00:14A halter dress.
00:15Forgive me, but I'm worried that this is going to look like a halter diaper.
00:18Change of plans. I'm stitching you into this dress.
00:21I'm really worried about my naked model.
00:24Christopher, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:31And you also have immunity for the next challenge.
00:35It's completely unwearable.
00:36She looks like a disco soccer ball.
00:38That means I are you out.
00:40Someone's got to be the first to leave Project Runway,
00:43and it might as well be me.
00:45This is Project Runway.
00:47Of course I'm the best.
00:48Let's do this.
00:49The search for the next big fashion designer.
00:52I have to win.
00:53You better watch out.
00:55Sixteen designers.
00:56Ivan, you're out.
00:57Don't get cut.
00:58Three finalists will make it to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
01:02I'm the best designer here.
01:03I have no fear.
01:05Make it work.
01:06That's my one.
01:07But only one can be the winner.
01:09This is my dream.
01:10For these 16 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:16The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazines.
01:20A Paris vacation courtesy of Avion.
01:23And $100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to start their own life.
01:27It definitely is a wake-up call that Aerie's gone.
01:41I really didn't think she was going to go home, and it definitely woke everyone up.
01:46Like, can't slack on any challenge.
01:48You're coming happily.
01:49Making it through the first round is definitely a relief.
01:53Getting kicked off in the first challenge is a nightmare of coming on the Project Runway,
01:57I think.
01:58I did not expect to see the six people up there that we saw up there.
02:03I am just really happy, Mitchell, that you're still here.
02:06The first thing that America's going to know about me is that...
02:09You're going to send out a naked lady down the runway.
02:11I love that.
02:12With a beautiful collar.
02:13With a gorgeous collar.
02:14With a beautiful collar.
02:15God.
02:16I mean, I'm not going to lie.
02:17I'm glad that someone else hit the bullet, not me.
02:19I mean, I'm glad to still be here.
02:21I think I deserve to be here.
02:22I may not put in the time and the effort that people have over the past couple of years,
02:26but in this, I am ready to rekindle my dream.
02:30Are we ready?
02:31Let's go see Heidi.
02:46Hello.
02:47Hello.
02:48Welcome back to the runway.
02:51Christopher, you won the first challenge and this gave you immunity for this week.
02:56Congratulations.
02:58You have designed a look for the red carpet.
03:01And now, you'll create a look for an actual celebrity.
03:07She's a supermodel.
03:09Uh-oh.
03:10And a film and television star.
03:13Initially, I'm thinking, is Heidi talking about herself?
03:16Because she kept saying, you know, she's a supermodel and she has a TV show.
03:21And I kept thinking, are we going to make an outfit for Heidi?
03:24And she has a big surprise for you.
03:29She is a mommy-to-be.
03:31Oh, .
03:32Oh, .
03:33Pregnancy challenge.
03:34I have never done a pregnancy outfit before in my life.
03:38I would like to introduce to you, Rebecca Romijn.
03:42Oh, my God.
03:46Hello.
03:47Hi, Heidi.
03:48Mwah.
03:49Hello, everyone.
03:50Hello.
03:52And she's having twins.
03:55Congratulations.
03:57So far, being pregnant has been a wonderful, wonderful experience.
04:01But finding fashionable clothing while pregnant has been very, very difficult.
04:06You do look fabulous, I have to say, though.
04:08First, I thought she should come out in a bathing suit.
04:12Sports Illustrated style.
04:13You wish.
04:15So, guess what?
04:16Your challenge will be to design a pregnancy chic look for Rebecca.
04:21My life definitely doesn't stop just because I'm pregnant.
04:25So, the good news for you all is that you get to create an outfit for any type of event.
04:31It might be something for me to wear to a lunch or to a business meeting or to a party.
04:37It's up to you.
04:38As a woman, you still want to celebrate your shape.
04:41So, I'm looking for something that has a beautiful silhouette.
04:45Okay.
04:46Tim is waiting for you in the workroom.
04:47Good luck.
04:48And I'll see you on the runway.
04:50Bye.
04:51Bye.
04:52Let's go.
05:01As you walk into the workroom, everyone sees these giant, half-circled pillows.
05:08And these are the bellies for our models to wear, which I love.
05:12I think it's so great.
05:14Booyah.
05:15Isn't it so wide?
05:17I have immunity going into the second challenge, and I am not letting that deter me from still
05:23doing something that's appropriate for the challenge.
05:26I want all those winning dresses to be mine.
05:29I want to know where, since you're a mom, where does the belly start?
05:33Usually right under the boob area.
05:37I was pregnant twice, and when I had a big belly, it was important to me to show more shape to my arms and my legs.
05:46So, that's what I'm trying to portray with my outfit for a backup.
05:50She looks like she's in her early second semester, or trimester.
05:54Hello, designers.
05:58As you know, for this challenge, you are designing a pregnancy look.
06:04This must be beautiful.
06:06It must be chic.
06:07And Rebecca has given you one specific criterion.
06:10She wants this look to be form-fitting.
06:13You have 30 minutes to sketch.
06:15Afterwards, we're going shopping at Mood, where you will have a budget of $100.
06:19You have two days, and the winner of this challenge will have immunity.
06:25Alright?
06:26I will be back in 30 minutes.
06:28Thank you, everyone.
06:29Designing for someone that's pregnant is definitely a challenge for me.
06:38I've never really had a lot of pregnant women in my life.
06:42That's not really my deal.
06:44Babies kind of scare me, I guess.
06:46Having seen the first round, I know what the judges want now.
06:49I think what they really want from me is to combine concept with construction that is very wearable and fashion-forward.
06:56Being in the top three for the first challenge is an amazing experience.
07:01I think in this competition, every challenge, I have to push myself to go further and not do the expected.
07:08I'm ready for fabrics.
07:10Alright, designers.
07:11Your sketching time is up.
07:12We are going shopping.
07:14Let's head out.
07:19You have your $100 budget.
07:21You have 30 minutes to shop.
07:23Go, go, go.
07:24Oh, so many choices.
07:30Going into the second challenge, I don't really have many doubts in my mind.
07:34It's just finding the right fabric and executing it.
07:37How about that?
07:38I'm going to make a dress and a coat.
07:40So hopefully, you know, that will step it up because most people are just making dresses.
07:45I have made one maternity dress before, but it was a bridesmaid's dress, and that's a whole other can of worms that you don't want to open.
07:58Designers, you have two minutes remaining.
08:00Sorry you make a mess.
08:01I apologize.
08:02I need thread.
08:03Excuse me.
08:04I might be a little stressed, but it's only because I'm focused and I got to just remember I have to stay centered.
08:12Crystal.
08:13I'm done?
08:14That's it?
08:15No, just deep breaths.
08:16Deep breaths.
08:1799.59 with that.
08:19Perfect.
08:20Okay, everyone.
08:21Time is up.
08:22All right.
08:23Let's head back to the work room.
08:25Thank you, Moon.
08:28Bye.
08:33Round two.
08:34Here we go.
08:39This belly's really huge.
08:41It's twins.
08:42I mean, you don't really realize it until you put cloth over it how pregnant it is.
08:49I definitely don't think designing maternity for me is that far of a stretch.
08:53There shouldn't be such a drastic sort of gap between regular clothes and maternity clothes.
08:59I'm not going to do what everyone else is going to do.
09:01I'm going to keep it really to my aesthetic of like tailored and refined.
09:05I anticipate everyone else is going to be all about Drake and Chloe and goddessy and pee in the pod.
09:10All right, I'm done.
09:11All right.
09:12Woo!
09:13Yay!
09:14My concept is that I want to use ribbon and create a bodice, but I have kept the bottom jersey so she'd be comfortable while still looking great.
09:27You know what? My original plan changed.
09:32Yeah, already. It's been five minutes.
09:35Going in a different direction here where I'm really liking what I've got going on.
09:39I mean, it doesn't matter what, you always want to produce something you're proud of, you know?
09:44I'm working on a 1920s, negligee-inspired cocktail dress.
09:50It's something that I'm kind of known for, and it has a lace applique top that I hand-dyed.
09:55My concept revolves around the idea of fertility.
09:58I'm playing around with images of eggs, birds' nests.
10:02Basically, this look is called the mother hen.
10:04In the back of my head, I keep hearing Nina say, don't play it safe.
10:11Because that's what she said to me.
10:13It feels like you played it a little safe.
10:15The nerves are here.
10:16The nerves definitely are here.
10:17For me, it's almost like I need to continue that momentum from the first challenge.
10:23It's really important to remain on top.
10:25So this is a challenge I have to bring it.
10:27Like, I have to win this.
10:29I don't know what to do with the top of this.
10:31It's starting to be crazy.
10:34Coming up on Project R-Life.
10:37I'm going to do a pair of jogs first, like chicken thighs.
10:40Oh, well done.
10:42There's definitely some dresses in that room that are neither fitted nor chic.
10:48I don't think Rebecca would, like, wear any of that anywhere.
10:51This challenge is to design an outfit for Rebecca Romijn, the supermodel, television actress.
11:06And the curveball is that she is pregnant.
11:09I do think that it's difficult to design for somebody who's pregnant, especially someone with twins who is very pregnant.
11:17Are you Lattice Market?
11:18Yes, I am.
11:19Oh, how fun.
11:20Oh, it's like a braid.
11:21Yeah.
11:22Yeah, that's really pretty.
11:23The only problem is it takes a while.
11:25All good things take a while.
11:26Is that the thing?
11:27I think there's a lot of really cool designs.
11:30I love Malvin's design, the idea that's like this egg.
11:33I think that's super cool.
11:34So he's definitely someone that I'm really looking forward to seeing the end result.
11:38I love the idea of a sweater because that's so comfy.
11:40Yeah, because the sweater fabric may be a tiny bit sheer.
11:43Uh-huh.
11:44I bought a t-shirt fabric.
11:46You just make it to your tank top.
11:47Seriously.
11:48I'm like, I'm not doing, not taking any changes.
11:50Not going down that road.
11:51Not taking any changes.
11:52That'd be hilarious.
11:53You'd be like, what is your obsession with nudity?
11:55I'm not looking to go out on a limb and win this challenge.
11:59I want to stick with being safe.
12:00I'm doing, like, these little gathered shorts.
12:03They're gathered all the way around with the belly band.
12:06I'm designing these cute little shorts.
12:08They are gathered throughout.
12:11They sit very low and are pretty short.
12:14Look.
12:15Oh, my gosh.
12:17Oh, my gosh.
12:18What?
12:19What is that?
12:20Those are some big girl pants.
12:23Put those on right now.
12:27Nicholas.
12:30I heard you're having twins.
12:31So I made you the biggest damn shorts.
12:32It's fine.
12:33Mitchell has designed commercially for pregnant women.
12:35So he definitely has an edge on something that women would wear every single day.
12:40Could you fit in it?
12:41Could you put both legs in there?
12:43Wait.
12:44Wait.
12:45Come in.
12:46Careful.
12:47Oh, my God, y'all.
12:49Don't dance.
12:50I have to gather them so they'll fit my model.
12:54Those things are huge.
12:56They're some kind of fierce.
12:57Okay.
12:58It's the end of the day and I'm feeling pretty good.
13:03Rebecca, I have a dress for you.
13:05You wear it.
13:06Do you like it?
13:07My dress is pretty much done.
13:08All I have to do is some finishing touches on the dress and start on my coat.
13:12Let's go.
13:28How do you like your dress?
13:29I just want to finish it.
13:30It's strange working with like a big belly.
13:33So, Malvin, you think they're going to throw us bananas?
13:36I don't think they will.
13:37For them to do anything like that, we'd all be...
13:39I mean, I wouldn't have pants.
13:40All right, guys.
13:41Let's go finish this.
13:42Yeah, stay focused.
13:44That's work.
13:45That's work.
13:46That's work.
13:47Isn't it amazing how one day you can be completely stuck and the next day, I don't know what happens.
14:05You know, it's just like everything just flows.
14:09Did you thread it?
14:10You have to thread this.
14:11Oh, it wasn't threaded?
14:12No, no, no.
14:13Crap.
14:14I'm so sorry.
14:15The thing that I am playing around with is perspective.
14:19I'm a little anxious to see what Tim's view on it will be.
14:23Hi, everybody.
14:24Hey.
14:25How are you?
14:26Just going to check in with you, okay?
14:28And I'm going to start with Althea.
14:30Hey.
14:31So, where is she going in this?
14:33I was thinking luncheon.
14:35Well, because it is a jersey, so it's comfortable.
14:37Luncheon?
14:38Well, like in a very important one.
14:40I'll say.
14:41Althea, I would give up even trying to write a scenario for this being day.
14:45It just doesn't do that.
14:46Okay.
14:47Just forget it.
14:48Okay, Althea.
14:49Thank you very much.
14:50Okay, cool.
14:51Thank you very much.
14:52Hey, Louise.
14:53Hey.
14:54How are you doing?
14:55I'm applying this lace right now that I hand dyed.
14:57You dyed this?
14:58Mm-hmm.
14:59Very nice.
15:00I'm a little worried that it's looking too nightgown-y, though.
15:02If your viscera says, uh-oh.
15:04Yeah.
15:05It's about to be true.
15:06Talk to me.
15:07Okay.
15:08I wanted to show off her legs, so I am making a little pair of shorts, and then a simple
15:13fitted sweater, and I'm working on the t-shirt right now.
15:16Why the t-shirt at all?
15:17After the last challenge, I don't want anything to be sheer.
15:19I'm scared to death of it.
15:20Okay.
15:21I'm getting something on the runway this time.
15:22She's going to be fully covered.
15:23She better be.
15:24I promise.
15:25All right.
15:27Thank you, Tim.
15:28Hi, Sharon.
15:29This criss-cross effect is very beautiful.
15:31Oh, thank you.
15:32I just have to do the hem, and then start on the jacket.
15:35You're doing a jacket?
15:36Yeah.
15:37Out of what?
15:38Out of wool.
15:39This wool.
15:40And I'm going to line it with this, because I wanted to put a print somewhere.
15:42I mean, I love the idea of the jacket with the lining.
15:45Yeah.
15:46And it will show that you're stepping up and out, but it just has to be the right jacket.
15:49Yeah.
15:50All right.
15:51Okay.
15:52So, talk to me.
15:53So, the concept behind this is fertility.
15:56I brought in motifs.
15:57She's fertile.
15:58It's her egg.
15:59I brought in motifs of a hen and her egg.
16:01So, I have this, like, feather ring thing going on.
16:04Then underneath it, I'm going to do a pair of jog first.
16:07Does it come away from the hip, the way it shows in the drawing?
16:10Yeah, it does come away from the hip.
16:11Why are you doing that?
16:12What woman wants her hips to look wider?
16:14I don't know.
16:15It was more for the concept, like, chicken thighs.
16:17Oh, Melbourne.
16:18Imagine yourself saying that on the runway to Rebecca.
16:22I know.
16:23I know.
16:24You just need to be mindful of this not going into costume land.
16:28Okay.
16:29Where it could go.
16:30Okay?
16:31Okay.
16:34I'm not bored.
16:36Thank you, Melbourne.
16:37Hi, Ramon.
16:38Talk to me.
16:39What are you doing?
16:40Wow.
16:41A cocktail dress that's color-blocked.
16:42So, from one perspective, you know, it gives her a little bit of a slim silhouette.
16:46I wonder whether these panels in the light gray against this darker purple aren't making
16:51it come out even more.
16:53I mean, but you said you wanted to celebrate it.
16:55Well, I think you are.
16:56Yeah.
16:57Yeah, definitely.
16:58You've given it a fanfare.
16:59I mean, she's...
17:00I just keep hearing Nina's voice saying, don't be safe, so I'm trying to...
17:03Don't.
17:04I'm trying to push it a little bit more.
17:05Don't be safe.
17:06Without being cuckoo.
17:07Cuckoo's already happened.
17:08With me?
17:09No.
17:10Not with you.
17:11Okay.
17:12I do agree with Tim's assessment of my dress.
17:21It does look a little like a nightgown, so I'm trying to line it and give it a second
17:27layer hanging out from the bottom.
17:30I'm not intimidated by the fact that mine isn't like anybody else's.
17:34I think that's a good thing.
17:35I think fashion needs to take risks, and I think I'm working in that direction.
17:40Oh, it's cute.
17:41Let's just hold your bowling bag next to it.
17:44What?
17:45It looks a little bit like a bowling ball.
17:50It looks really good.
17:54You'll probably win.
17:55It looks really good.
17:56I have to go.
17:57I have to leave the room.
17:58No, don't.
17:59Come here.
18:00No, stop it.
18:01Are you serious?
18:02No, stop it.
18:03Come here.
18:04No, it looks good.
18:05It looks a lot better from here.
18:07Oh my God, it's a bowling bag.
18:10No, it's not.
18:11No, I'm sorry.
18:12I didn't mean it like that.
18:14It looks a lot better from here.
18:17Well, they're not that far away from here.
18:20No, it looks good.
18:24It's very streamlined.
18:26We're over.
18:28I guess I didn't say a roller skate or something.
18:32Designers, I am sending in your models for a fitting.
18:42So all the models come in.
18:43Katie comes over.
18:44Gives me a big hug.
18:45The first thing we did is get her pregnant.
18:48Oh my God.
18:49Look, it's you.
18:51Oh my God, Celine.
18:53It looks so weird.
18:54Stop laughing.
18:55I'm having back pains already.
18:58Does it look real?
18:59Yes.
19:00It does.
19:01You look like you're about to pop.
19:02I know some people have like different shape bowels too.
19:04That's true.
19:05So mine was a rocket.
19:07My model actually, she has a two year old and she was really excited about the dress and
19:11that made me feel good since I don't have that experience.
19:14I've been there.
19:15I know what I'm doing.
19:16Yeah, no kidding.
19:17Man.
19:18Lucky me.
19:20Pose this way.
19:22I'll step back this way.
19:23There you go.
19:24Y'all didn't know I taught runway classes, did you?
19:27Designers and models, time is up.
19:32We're on.
19:33Time was up five minutes ago.
19:34Oh, it was.
19:35All the models are gone.
19:36Yes.
19:37Finish this up right now.
19:38Okay.
19:39Getting kind of nervous.
19:40Now you are?
19:41Yeah.
19:42That one.
19:43I've been nervous.
19:44I went into a shade that I wouldn't normally do.
19:46It's a little bit drab in a way.
19:48And the jacket looks a little bit Easter Sunday.
19:50Kind of worried that it may get me into the bottom three.
19:53Johnny's jacket is outdated.
19:55I mean, Rebecca Romaine's not going to wear that.
19:56She won't even dust with that jacket.
19:59That's on me.
20:00There's definitely some dresses in that room that are neither fitted nor chic.
20:05I don't think Rebecca would like wear any of that anywhere.
20:09All right, designers, time is up.
20:12We are leaving for the night.
20:14Thank you, Tim.
20:15I do need to leave.
20:16I'm exhausted.
20:18Coming up on Project Runway.
20:20Somebody see my small scissors.
20:23The needle broke.
20:24It's hard to envision where everyone's going to kind of be.
20:26The shorts are looking sloppy.
20:28We're out.
20:29Oh, hot messes.
20:30Are you guys going to miss me?
20:31Where are you going?
20:32I'm out.
20:33But you guys are almost done with your outfits, right?
20:34No.
20:35No, I don't know what to stay ahead lies.
20:36How much work do you have to do?
20:37Him, put in the zipper, put in the binding, check the last fitting around the preggers.
20:43The alien.
20:44I know.
20:45It's an alien.
20:46This morning, I'm having a few doubts.
20:48I think my little egg nest, I need to make it more literal.
20:52I'm a little anxious today because I want to get to the work room in order to finish my
21:15piece to make it look runway ready.
21:17All right, let's go.
21:18We're going to stay focused, right?
21:19Focus.
21:20Focus.
21:21You're borrowing the price, right?
21:22Everybody ready?
21:23I know.
21:24I'm coming.
21:25I'm coming.
21:26I'm coming.
21:27Look, you crossed out eat and sleep.
21:28So now we only have design.
21:29That's all we do.
21:34My zipper broke.
21:35I have to stitch her into this thing today.
21:38Damn it.
21:39I don't want to do that.
21:40I'm a little worried about finishing the shorts and I am going as fast as I can.
21:45I'm pushing it, pushing it, pushing it, trying to get these made.
21:48You look to the right of the room.
21:50Drapey drapey sophisticated.
21:51You look to the left of the room.
21:53Structure tailored.
21:54Oh, hot messes.
21:56Is everyone not realizing that they're designing for Rebecca Romaine?
22:00So am I really the front runner?
22:03Because nobody's choosing to take that risk.
22:06You're Stella all of a sudden?
22:09Working on your leather.
22:12I love them.
22:13Good morning, everybody.
22:15Good morning, James.
22:16You have two hours to fit your models, to send them to the Garnier hair studio and the
22:21L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
22:22All right?
22:23Use the Macy's accessory wall thoughtfully and just pull it all together so you have a fantastic,
22:31fantastic look to present.
22:33All right?
22:34I am sending in your models.
22:36Let's put your belly on.
22:37Tie it tight so baby doesn't come down.
22:38All right.
22:39When Matara gets to the room, you know, I put the dress on her and it fits pretty much perfectly.
22:51The color looks gorgeous on her.
22:52I know we had the fitting and I measured it, but then when I put it on the mannequin, I
22:57didn't know if it would lay flat.
22:58Yeah.
22:59Tanisha, she looks good in it.
23:00However, the cups seem to be smaller on her than they did the last fitting.
23:05Oh, my God.
23:06Born in big trouble.
23:07In trying to create a balanced look, I gathered too much and the shorts, instead of looking
23:14feminine and fun and with great movement, they are looking sloppy.
23:19Oh, yeah.
23:20This is gonna work.
23:23Uh-oh, your baby fell.
23:24Let's take you to hair.
23:28Very simple with the hair.
23:29Nothing like big and fruity.
23:31Your hair's gonna be in a big fro.
23:33I think we had like a pomp and then like a maternal.
23:35I figured it's okay.
23:36Why mess with it?
23:37Yes.
23:38Perfect.
23:44All right, sweetie.
23:45I'll see you in a little bit.
23:46All right.
23:50The needle broke.
23:51I don't believe this.
23:52As soon as I start.
23:53Right now, my only concern is that I have a lot of hand work left to do.
23:57Of course, I've got all the applique work that I need to do on the front of the bodice.
24:00Somebody see my small scissors.
24:02I was gonna do the feathers on the pants, but then, um, I think it'd be too costumely.
24:08I'm very anxious to see my model on the runway, because I know that a lot of the other designs
24:14are very similar.
24:15I think there are some designers in that room that have something to say.
24:18I think they just haven't found it yet.
24:20They haven't cracked the egg, so to speak.
24:23I keep sewing the other side.
24:28It's hard to envision where everyone's gonna kind of be, because everyone's still sewing.
24:32I think I'm gonna do pretty good.
24:34I think I might have another top spot on my hands.
24:37If not, I, well, I mean, I'm fine because I have immunity.
24:41That's why I like being with you, because everything's on.
24:44Everything's on.
24:45We're done.
24:46We're ready.
24:47We'll see who else is ready.
24:48Mitchell, why are we the last on sign?
24:50I'm just glad my model has clothes on.
24:53Designers, models, we are going to the runway.
24:58Everybody, come on out.
25:00Logan.
25:01I got him.
25:02Mitchell.
25:03Wow.
25:04Coming up on Project Runway.
25:07It almost looks like here is the baby.
25:09Yeah.
25:10I've never been pregnant, but I tried to imagine myself pregnant.
25:13But the execution, I don't think it worked out.
25:16She is a mess.
25:17She's a pregnant mess.
25:26Hello.
25:27Hi.
25:28Welcome to the runway.
25:29As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
25:33There are 15 of you here today, and after tonight, there will be 14.
25:38For this challenge, you were asked to design a pregnancy chic look for the lovely and fashionable
25:44Rebecca Romaine.
25:45She asked for something that is stylish, and it shows off her pregnancy curves.
25:50You had two days and $100 to put it together.
25:53All right, let's meet the judges.
25:55Filling in for Michael Kors today is Monique Lullier.
25:58She's known for her gorgeous gowns and celebrity clientele.
26:03Welcome.
26:05Fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
26:08Hi, everyone.
26:09The beautiful and pregnant TV star, Rebecca Romaine.
26:14Hi, guys.
26:17And just so you guys know, we all have been pregnant, okay?
26:22So we know what we're talking about, especially today.
26:25Let's start the show.
26:26My look is definitely more ready to wear.
26:34I chose kind of a gold foil leather, which I think kind of makes it more elegant and more
26:39expensive.
26:40My design came out exactly like I wanted it to.
26:45She looks beautiful in the coat and the dress, and she pulls it off perfectly.
26:51My mom is walking down the runway, and as she comes out, I notice something very strange.
26:56Her skirt keeps going up and up, and she still looks amazing, but I see Heidi writing something
27:02frantically, and I'm really nervous.
27:05I feel like my point of view really came across in this piece.
27:09It has volume to it.
27:11It has texture, and it lets me show who I am as a designer.
27:19I think my model looks like a very, very hip girl coming down the runway.
27:22She looks like she's ready to go out in the town with her girlfriends.
27:25She's happy with her overall look, and I think it really shows when she walks in the runway.
27:31My model is working the dress.
27:33She's walking.
27:34It's flowing.
27:35The color looks great on her.
27:36I mean, she looks extremely trendy in style and silhouette.
27:39It's sexy.
27:44I'm watching her walk, but at the same time, I'm watching the judges.
27:47So I did a jumpsuit.
27:48It's not way off.
27:50It's not tacky.
27:51It was really elegant.
27:52It was totally different from everybody else's.
27:56It looks so fantastic.
27:58It's just something that I would totally wear.
28:00That was my baby, and I put so much work into it.
28:06My design is so elegant and so well put together.
28:10She looks a little bit like Rebecca Romy with her hair, so I'm very happy.
28:16The look portrayed everything I wanted it to portray.
28:23It was calm and serene and easy.
28:25It just flows.
28:26The styling is perfect.
28:27She looks the way I want her to look.
28:30I love the pants.
28:32I love the top.
28:33It doesn't look exactly like an egg.
28:36I feel that the pieces are flattering towards a woman's body.
28:44What I see before me is a very chic, elegant, pregnant young woman who is wearing a very artistic creation.
28:52Looking at the judges' expressions, they are like stone cold.
29:04I love my little roughly jacket.
29:06I want to take that thing off my model and wear it out the door.
29:09I really like the color and the way that I've draped the bottom of it.
29:14I'm feeling pretty good.
29:19There's things that I'm not certain of that could go really wrong, so I'm not feeling relaxed.
29:29I'm watching my model come down the runway, and she's glowing, and I asked her to just have a big smile, and she did.
29:35And that's exactly what I wanted.
29:37It's just a fun little dress.
29:45If I call your name, please step forward.
29:49Louise.
29:51Mitchell.
29:54Althea.
29:56Melvin.
29:59Shiren.
30:02Roman.
30:04If I did not call your name, congratulations.
30:08Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge.
30:11You can leave the runway.
30:15The six of you represent the best and the worst.
30:21One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
30:28Let's bring out your models.
30:37First of all, I have to say our models look heavily pregnant.
30:39They're all about to give birth.
30:42They must be all like a week away.
30:45I would like to start with Roman.
30:47So tell us about your look.
30:49I created a cocktail dress for Rebecca.
30:52I thought, what would I design for her if she was not pregnant, and then reinterpret that for an actual maternity piece.
30:58I think the dress is a little too busy for my taste.
31:02And I think the construction is also sloppy.
31:05It almost looks like here is the baby.
31:07Yeah.
31:08Arrows.
31:09She's pointing to here is the baby.
31:10It's like arrows.
31:11It's like racing stripes.
31:12Yes.
31:13It's almost too confusing.
31:15Definitely not what I was going for.
31:17It's not so easy making pregnancy.
31:18No, I've never done it before.
31:20This was like a stretch for me.
31:24Let's continue with Louise.
31:26I've pleated this here so that the pleats kind of open up.
31:30You know, when the bust grows, it doesn't stay too tight in there.
31:34And this little slip underneath is adjustable.
31:37It's a little like lingerie, but I like that.
31:41Where would you wear it to?
31:42Probably on a date with my husband.
31:45Yeah.
31:47Can we see the back?
31:48Yeah, it's very cute.
31:49There's a lot of good things happening in this design from all the details in the sleeve to the inset of the lace.
31:56I love the fact that it's tiered because you can accommodate the different stages.
32:00Good job.
32:04Althea, tell us about where your pregnant model is going.
32:08I've never been pregnant, but I tried to imagine myself pregnant and I thought this really was like an evening dress for you.
32:15It kept it in like a jersey because I wanted you to be comfortable.
32:19I wanted to make sure you had tons of support.
32:21And like you said, you wanted to show off your beautiful pregnancy curves.
32:24I love the way it accentuates the back.
32:26You know, the lines of her body look beautiful and it's appropriate for many different types of evening occasions.
32:34Well, I happen to love the color that you chose and I also love the jersey.
32:38The only thing is I would add more room in the cups of the bust because I think it's a little exposed.
32:43But I think the tailoring and the detail is perfection.
32:47I do like the fact that you made this long dress.
32:51You also want to feel very covered and elegant.
32:55As a whole, I think that it's a beautiful dress.
32:57Thank you very much.
32:59Malvin.
33:00I created a day look for you.
33:02I drew reference to a mother hen and her egg and I wanted to create that almost embracing cocoon, like nest over an egg, something that's very precious.
33:12I think it's something very casual but has a touch of sophistication and chicness.
33:17What's the black?
33:19Made out of?
33:20It's made out of silk organza and the feathers you see here I've done applique and I've cut them to look like feathers.
33:26Can I see how that?
33:28So these are ties.
33:29That's very beautiful.
33:31Had you just kept going on that black detailing and then what is disturbing is the sling.
33:38Because the sling, she's had the baby and she's carrying it in the sling.
33:45Do you really want to look like a chicken that has the egg?
33:48I think I may have been too attached to my concept.
33:53Mitchell, where is she going?
33:55She's going to lunch with her girlfriends, maybe going shopping, living her day to day activities.
34:00As a whole, I like the idea that you did these cute little shorts and a top and a jacket.
34:05I just think, wow, how difficult is it to make a pair of shorts?
34:09The shorts are too short on the front.
34:11You can see the band.
34:13The t-shirt's too tight.
34:14It's like she's a mess.
34:17She is a mess.
34:18She's a pregnant mess.
34:19I have some difficulties with the shorts.
34:20I've never sewn in a pregnancy band before.
34:22Well, I mean, I appreciate that you went for a kind of cool urban look, but the execution, I don't think it worked out.
34:32Just because we sit here doesn't mean we don't have good eyes.
34:34The main thing I wanted to focus on was comfort because, you know, I'm sure when you're pregnant, you have enough things that make you uncomfortable.
34:43I decided to put a coat over it with a fun print on the inside.
34:46The lining is really pretty.
34:47I really like that, the way you did the waistband.
34:50Yeah, I did some handwork along the waist.
34:53I loved how you draped not only the front, but the back.
34:56I mean, there's no bad angle to this dress.
34:58I think you should get into the maternity business, and I think you'll do really well.
35:02I've never done maternity, so I'm impressed.
35:04This was a challenge at first, because once you start draping on it, it's like, oh my God, there's a bump on the mannequin.
35:09I think you delivered something that is very versatile, very nicely done with very nice details.
35:17Thank you so much.
35:18Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
35:20We're going to have a little chat, and then we'll call you back.
35:24You can leave the runway.
35:25All right, let's talk about the designers that we didn't like so much.
35:33Let's start with Roman.
35:35It kind of looked like a bowling ball bag.
35:38All that construction, and then maybe if it was like all one color.
35:41Black and black, with different mats of black.
35:44From the front, she looked quite slimming, because that's what he wanted to do, but then she turned sideways, and it's like...
35:50Bowling ball bag.
35:52Let's move on to Mitchell, which was very, very interesting.
35:59I have friends who would wear that, you know what I mean?
36:01Like, I see that girl either running to the grocery store with a really cute pair of sandals.
36:06If those shorts were well-done shorts, I would wear those.
36:11I would wear them too.
36:12But they, as a matter of fact, look like I actually sewed them myself.
36:16And I can't sew.
36:18Okay, let's move on to Melvin.
36:23Really bizarre.
36:24I don't think any pregnant woman wants to be thought of as the chicken.
36:28I don't want to look like an egg.
36:30The egg?
36:31No, but he went really all the way, because he said, you know, the egg and the chicken, and then the little feathers on it.
36:38It was like...
36:40It was bizarre.
36:41Yeah.
36:42Yeah.
36:43He had a concept.
36:44You have to give it to him.
36:45He did have a concept.
36:46He did have a concept.
36:47All right, let's talk about the designers and the designs that we did like.
36:52Let's talk about Shirin.
36:54That waistline was beautiful.
36:57She offered up a coat, and the coat was beautiful, and it was lined.
37:02You had the shoulder drape, you know, the drape yarn.
37:04Yet, with all that draping, it was not too much.
37:06I think hers is the most wearable.
37:08Let's talk about Althea.
37:13One of my favorite things about this dress was the side draping.
37:17And then the part where you want to feel smallest, and the small of the back was nice.
37:21Yeah, and it went down in a V, which also is very slimming, and it gives you a nice...
37:27It was elegant.
37:28It was elegant.
37:29I thought that was quite a pretty dress.
37:31And the color choice was excellent.
37:33Yeah.
37:34It's really nice.
37:35Let's move on to Louise.
37:39Again, I think it's something I would wear on a date.
37:43I don't know if you want to be walking around in something that looks like you're in lingerie and you're pregnant.
37:49That's the reason you got pregnant.
37:51I think it's a pretty little dress.
37:54This did not look like, you know, someone sewed it together in a day and a half.
37:57Right.
37:58I mean, she thought about it.
37:59Yeah.
38:00She had all these details.
38:01She colored the lace.
38:02I mean...
38:03It was really well executed.
38:04Very well executed.
38:05Very well executed.
38:08All right, so we've made our decision.
38:10Yes.
38:11Yeah?
38:12Yeah.
38:13Okay, let's bring them back out.
38:14One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
38:29One of you will be named the winner.
38:30One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
38:36Louise, you're in.
38:37You can leave the runway.
38:38And now for the winner.
38:39Rebecca, who won this challenge?
38:40Congratulations.
38:41You're in.
38:42You're in.
38:43And now for the winner.
38:44Rebecca, who won this challenge?
38:45Congratulations.
38:46You're in.
38:47You're in.
38:48You're in.
38:49And now for the winner.
38:50Rebecca, who won this challenge?
38:51You're in.
38:52You're in.
38:53You're in.
38:54You can leave the runway.
38:58And now for the winner.
38:59Rebecca, who won this challenge?
39:01Congratulations.
39:02You're in.
39:03You're in.
39:04You're in.
39:05You're in.
39:06You're in.
39:08You're in.
39:09You're in.
39:11We thought your look was elegant, absolutely beautifully executed,
39:15and any one of us would wear it, pregnant or not.
39:18Congratulations.
39:19Thank you so much.
39:21Good job.
39:22You cannot be eliminated in the next challenge.
39:24You have immunity.
39:26You can leave the runway.
39:27Thanks.
39:28I won!
39:29It's amazing.
39:30Althea, you're in.
39:39You can leave the runway.
39:45Roman, you're in.
39:47You can leave the runway.
39:49Thank you so much.
39:55Mitchell, Melvin, one of you will be out.
40:00Melvin, your chicken-egg look was just not flattering.
40:06It was complicated, but not in a good way.
40:09And truthfully, it was just too bizarre.
40:14Mitchell, though we liked your overall concept,
40:18the sloppiness of your sewing and presentation
40:21were basically not acceptable.
40:24There is really no excuse, and we're not impressed.
40:30Melvin, you're out.
40:38Mitchell, you just squeaked by.
40:42You have to up your game,
40:43and you have to show us that you deserve to be here.
40:46You can leave the runway.
40:48All the best to you.
40:57Thank you so much.
40:59So I'm too conceptual for America.
41:08Yeah.
41:09One of the best things about this experience
41:11is that I've learned how strong I am grounded
41:15as a designer, as a philosopher, and as a person.
41:18I know that I'll always have something to say,
41:35and I know that how I say it will always be different,
41:39and my voice just gets stronger
41:42with every struggle that I encounter.
41:48Next week on Project Runway.
41:50You will be working in teams of two.
41:53I'm going to grab it.
41:53You take it to cut.
41:55In our relationship,
41:56I can't always tell you that you're perfect or not.
41:59I think we're going to be in trouble.
42:01You're putting on a show.
42:02I'm not putting on a show.

42:05I want to ensure that you're not just instantly disqualified.
42:09It's unfair.
42:10Go, go, go.
42:11I need some Tylenol.
