00:01Previously on Project Runway.
00:03For your next challenge, you will be designing for a pop culture and fashion icon.
00:12Sarah Jessica Parker.
00:15This week's challenge is to create a two-piece look for my new clothing line, Bitten.
00:21Oh, it's already wet.
00:23I know, I just did a spit mark.
00:25You spit on it?
00:26What is going on?
00:29I'm not quite sure what else to do.
00:31It's just getting really kind of ugly.
00:38Congratulations, Victoria.
00:40You are the winner of this challenge.
00:43This is very fashion 80s.
00:47Marion, you're out.
00:53The winner of Project Runway will receive a spread in Elle magazine,
00:56an opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com,
00:59an all-new 2008 Saturn Astra,
01:02and $100,000 to start their own line.
01:04Furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
01:07This is Project Runway.
01:09Let's go.
01:10Hell yes, I'm the best.
01:11You're either in or you're out.
01:13I'm in, they're out.
01:15I would be caught dead in his clothes.
01:17Fashion is my life.
01:18Who will be the next big fashion designer?
01:20That's me.
01:21Bottom line, I'm the best.
01:23I will own the runway.
01:25For these 15 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
01:29You're nice and easy isn't here.
01:39Being here on Project Runway, it's an experience of a lifetime.
01:46I have been HIV positive for 17 years and I've never been healthier.
01:50It wasn't an easy road to get here.
01:52So for me, the ultimate goal is really to make it to Brown Park.
01:56What do you think Marion's doing?
01:59It's so upsetting.
02:00I don't even want to think of it.
02:02I know.
02:03Why couldn't they just get rid of Christian?
02:04Nobody would have cried.
02:07Did you hear that, Christian?
02:13You know what?
02:14You would be so bored if I love.
02:17I know.
02:18Believe me.
02:19We know.
02:20After almost being eliminated, I'm not as confident as I was before,
02:24but I just know that I make clothes so much better than a lot of the other designers.
02:28Let's go, you guys.
02:43Hi.
02:44Hi.
02:45You won't be needing your models for the next challenge.
02:49Uh-oh.
02:50What does that mean?
02:52This challenge is a first for Project Runway.
02:55I'm sending you on a field trip.
02:58Tim is waiting for you at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, where you find out about your challenge.
03:04The speculation started running wild.
03:06We were like, uh-oh.
03:07What are we going to have to do?
03:08All right.
03:09Let's get going.
03:10Chop, chop.
03:11Chop, chop.
03:12I see you on the runway.
03:18We are ushered in to 10 Rockefeller Plaza in the middle of New York City.
03:22And Tim is there waiting for us.
03:25Hi, everybody.
03:26Please follow me.
03:28All the designers were like, what?
03:30What is it?
03:31What could it be?
03:32Who's standing there but Tiki Barber?
03:38One of the best running backs that the Giants ever had.
03:41Oh, my God.
03:44Designers, I am honored to introduce Tiki Barber, legendary running back for the New York Giants,
03:50and now a correspondent for the Today Show.
03:52Tiki is going to present your challenge.
03:57None of us really know who he is, but wow, you know, he's gorgeous.
04:00I know nothing about football except that it's probably the one time on television where spandex is acceptable.
04:09It's good to see all of you.
04:10Your challenge is to design an outfit for me to wear on the Today Show.
04:1790% of the designers were dying in menswear.
04:21The tailoring is just so meticulous and there's so much work to do and detail work and...
04:26Now, I have particular challenges when you try to outfit me because my neck is so big, my waist is skinny, but I have a big butt.
04:35And clothes don't fit me exactly right.
04:38And so my wife and I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out what looks good on me.
04:43We like dark colors, but I also like patterns and texture and depth.
04:48It doesn't necessarily have to be a suit, but it does have to be something that's comfortable.
04:52Do you guys have any questions?
04:55Do you like little, like, subtle details?
04:57I love details. It conveys a personal style.
05:00What are your favorite, like, colors in your favorite outfit?
05:04I'm not afraid of color.
05:05I'll wear pink sometimes.
05:07I'll wear pastels.
05:08As long as it accents the whole outfit.
05:11Tiki, thank you so much.
05:13And we look forward to seeing you on the runway.
05:14I'm excited to seeing you on the runway.
05:15I'm looking forward to see what you guys do.
05:23Right here is good.
05:25Oh, perfect.
05:26What a good ride.
05:27All right, everybody.
05:29You will have 30 minutes to sketch.
05:32You'll have 30 minutes at mood and a budget of $150.
05:37You have until midnight tonight.
05:39You have all day tomorrow.
05:42Tim, if we are men, can we use items of clothes we have as reference that we're wearing?
05:47Of course.
05:49Make it work.
05:50It's the classic make it work moment.
05:52I started sketching and then I realized I had no idea how to even really sketch menswear.
06:03I have never done men's clothing.
06:07I think we're all struggling as of right now with this challenge.
06:11Most of us don't do menswear.
06:13For Tiki, I really automatically just wanted to go for the suit look.
06:23I've done menswear in the past.
06:24Not that many people have that much menswear experience.
06:27So I am dying to see what's going to happen with everybody, including myself.
06:31I'll hold it in the back.
06:32Whenever you mind, I'll hold it in the back.
06:34It's all right.
06:35Is that tight on you?
06:36Or is it because you've got it?
06:37Yeah, but I'm not like that.
06:38All right, everybody.
06:43Time is up.
06:45We're going shopping.
06:46All right, go, go, go.
06:52Welcome back to Mood.
06:53Off you go.
06:55Something to give it a little color, I think, would be nice.
06:58A little darker than this.
06:59I wanted to make a sportswear type of blazer, a tailored men's dress shirt.
07:06And I wanted to make a pair of nice slacks.
07:09Time was going by quickly, and I was naturally nervous.
07:13Do you like hot pants?
07:17How much are buttons a piece?
07:21Oh, here we go.
07:2215 minutes.
07:23Okay, good.
07:24Okay.
07:25Are you all right?
07:26I'm freaking, but I'm good.
07:27You're freaking?
07:28All right.
07:29Everybody is.
07:30More beigey.
07:31You know, like school uniform pants.
07:32As a stylist for television, I know what works on set.
07:35I know that some stripes don't work on set.
07:38So I got a navy fleece, plaid men's shirting, and a khaki chino for the pants.
07:43We have a minute.
07:44Great.
07:45He's writing the ticket right there.
07:46You just have to be in line.
07:47That's all.
07:48Thanks.
07:49Everybody, it's time.
07:51Over, done.
07:52Let's take this challenge back to the work room.
07:54It's been enough of a challenge here.
07:56Quickly, quickly, quickly.
08:05I'm thinking the only way I can do well is if I make a suit.
08:10I have to show them that I can make a suit.
08:12I mean, once I make a pattern, the sewing is not a problem.
08:14It's just pattern.
08:17Having never done menswear, I'm not sure why I decided to go for a full-on suit.
08:23It's probably the hardest thing I could have picked to do.
08:26I knew that I wanted to do some type of blazer, and I knew I wanted to do a pant that was lighter.
08:31I mean, it's a lot of work, but I know that I'm a fast sewer, so I'm not worried.
08:37There's a lot of people that might not finish this time.
08:40Jack, and I know this is another ignorant question.
08:42Waistband two inches, two inches, two inches, two and a half, two.
08:45You don't want a fat waistband.
08:46Two inches?
08:47Like...
08:48That's too much.
08:49Yeah.
08:50I'm gonna do three pieces, one being the sporty outerwear jacket, polo shirt, and then a really nice pair of slacks.
08:56Jack was a trooper.
08:57I had to ask for help on those things that I was completely poor at.
09:02It's one thing to design it and have a team make it, and it's another thing to actually make the daggum sample.
09:07Like, I know how it's supposed to be made, but I never make menswear.
09:10I've done a lot of designing, but I haven't done a lot of making mens clothes.
09:16You didn't tie it in the front?
09:17No, I didn't.
09:18Oh, but that looks good.
09:19A little wrap and pleat.
09:20A little wrap.
09:21I drew you cherries on your ass.
09:23I happen to be wearing flat front shorts that were basically identical to the silhouette that I wanted to use for the design, so I promptly took them off and ripped them apart and made a pattern out of them.
09:35Can I ask you guys a question?
09:36Can we press it?
09:37Yeah.
09:38And then just trace it?
09:39Yeah.
09:40Okay.
09:41Thank you for being gracious enough to share.
09:44No problem.
09:45This is so much easier than just drafting it and, like, doing the muslin, because I'm not going to do the muslin now.
09:50Right.
09:51I'm not either.
09:52I'm going to go right to fabric.
09:53Yeah, totally.
09:54Jack took off his shorts and traced the pattern.
09:57I think Carmen and Victoria used a pattern that already existed.
10:01Everybody was worried about time, but I do not think it was fair.
10:06I asked before.
10:07I'm like, are you allowed to help other people?
10:09And I'm like, it's totally fine.
10:10I would ask if you could share a pattern.
10:13This is a collaborative pattern.
10:15That's true.
10:16I use my shorts as a pattern, and that's not against the rules.
10:19Jealousy is going to bring out the ugly and whatever.
10:22The intensity is definitely up a notch today in the workroom.
10:27The menswear has brought forth the claws.
10:30How long do we have in here till tonight?
10:32Midnight.
10:35Do these people know how long it takes to do this stuff?
10:44Oh, God.
10:45Oh, don't just let it go.
10:46Man down, man down.
10:47You okay?
10:48You should try to give them a little fog hip for Christ's sake.
10:52Houston, there's another problem.
10:58Hi, everybody.
10:59Hi.
11:00Hi.
11:01How are you?
11:02Challenged.
11:03We're good.
11:04Challenged.
11:05Yes, I think you are.
11:07Time is up.
11:08At the end of the first night, some of the people were beginning to really freak out
11:13because they saw how much time they were going to have the next day.
11:17It was going to just be crazy to get it all done.
11:22So, I will see you in the morning, all right?
11:26It's midnight, and I'm standing here in a pimp's hat.
11:30Just to let it go.
11:32I'm leaving.
11:33Bye-bye, people.
11:34Coming up on Project Runway.
11:35Oh, my gosh.
11:36I am so excited about having the models.
11:37The guys are good-looking, so the girls are excited.
11:38These fit your ass perfect.
11:39So are some of the guys, of course.
11:40Wow.
11:41This is the hardest challenge.
11:42Yep.
11:43This is really hard.
11:44People are freaking out.
11:45I think my vest is going to be like, oh, my God.
11:46Oh, my God.
11:47Oh, my God.
11:48Oh, my God.
11:49Oh, my God.
11:50Oh, my God.
11:51Oh, my God.
11:52Oh, my God.
11:53Oh, my God.
11:54Oh, my God.
11:55Oh, my God.
11:56Oh, my God.
11:57Oh, my God.
11:58Oh, my God.
11:59Oh, my God.
12:00Oh, my God.
12:01Oh, my God.
12:02People are freaking out.
12:03I think my vest is going to be, like, blue together in the back.
12:05All right.
12:06Get ready.
12:07This is the last time we're going to have fun today.
12:10After you, lady.
12:12The moment we stepped foot in that room, we all just went straight to work.
12:16We were all on fire.
12:17Get lost, buddy.
12:19I don't think so.
12:21Oh, .
12:22I hope I didn't that up too bad.
12:25We get so stressed out that it's hard to remember that this is, like, such a fantasy
12:31experience.
12:32Yeah.
12:33The time constraints are definitely making for a more stressful environment than we've
12:38seen so far.
12:41You're so fast.
12:42It's, like, frightening.
12:44Definitely during this challenge, I think my speed is my biggest asset.
12:51I'm getting so much done already, so I'm not worried.
12:54Ready?
12:55Okay.
12:56Do it like a rock star.
12:59I'm a lot older than most of the people in the room.
13:03And I never have had any sort of formal fashion training at all.
13:07I'm completely self-taught.
13:09In fourth grade, when my mother was hemming my pants, I pushed her out of the way and said,
13:15let me at the sewing machine.
13:17Yay, pants.
13:19I'm good at pants.
13:20Pants are just two big sleeves sewn together.
13:23It's not that hard.
13:24Wow.
13:25I do not have any experience in menswear, but I felt the need to drape a pair of trousers
13:31with a testing fabric muslin.
13:33Wow.
13:34Nice, dude.
13:35Wow.
13:36Those look nice.
13:37And they're not traced off of a pattern like some other pants.
13:40I'm not accusing anyone.
13:41I'm just saying I know that some did.
13:43Snap.
13:44They were draped.
13:45Designers, I have a very nice announcement to make.
13:54We are sending in your models.
13:56Woo!
13:57I am so excited.
14:01When he gets in, I'm getting all his measurements to the T.
14:04So you'll have an hour.
14:05All right.
14:06I'm going to send them in right now.
14:09Oh, my gosh.
14:14We were given our models for this challenge at random.
14:18And to spend time with our models is going to make a huge difference.
14:22And we get fun male models, so it makes it all worth it.
14:25It is right, fun male.
14:27The guys are good looking, so the girls are excited.
14:30We're like sweating bullets.
14:31So are some of the guys, of course.
14:33Take your clothes off.
14:34Everybody in the room was looking all over the place and all these, like,
14:38disrobing men.
14:41It was quite an exciting afternoon.
14:44When I met my model, David, I was like, whoa, because he's beautiful.
14:49He is very beautiful.
14:50I can't believe these fit you so well.
14:52Every one of the gay guys in the room was, like, freaking out and being the only straight
14:56guy.
14:57I'm just like, whatever.
14:58Let's move along.
14:59Okay.
15:00I'm finally understanding what it's like for straight guys when they say,
15:05Oh, my God.
15:06I can't believe you've got all these hot chicks standing around in their underwear.
15:11Okay.
15:12Fine.
15:13You know.
15:14You win, guys.
15:15I get it.
15:16Wow!
15:17Wow, these fit your ass.
15:22Perfect.
15:23Dude, look at this.
15:24Wow.
15:25Just because of the way I am, I personally don't feel comfortable with you getting undressed
15:32here like the other professional models do.
15:34I have a tendency to be a bit shy.
15:37I have a boyfriend and he is the only person that I've actually fitted on intimately.
15:42Ready?
15:43Awesome.
15:44Okay.
15:45He's the only male that I choose to touch.
15:48I want to do ethno bottle.
15:49Sounds kind of weird.
15:50Mm-mm.
15:51Keep talking.
15:52I haven't cut my fabric.
15:55I'm just drafting my pattern.
15:57So, I put the muslins that I put together on him to try them out.
16:02Sorry, I would love to talk to you, but I can't right now.
16:05I'm so stressed out.
16:07I can't think clearly.
16:08Oh, my God.
16:09It's going to be perfect.
16:10Pants fit in perfectly, but the shirt is kind of a nightmare.
16:14Oh, my God.
16:15And now I have to start all over again and I'm not really happy about it.
16:19Thank you so much.
16:20Great meeting you.
16:21See you tomorrow.
16:22Bye.
16:23Take care.
16:24Have a great night.
16:25Bye.
16:26Thanks a million.
16:27We'll see you tomorrow, yeah.
16:28Thank you so much.
16:29After my model left, I had to start again and recut everything.
16:34In these situations, you just do whatever you have to do to make it work.
16:38Girls, it's time to make it happen.
16:41I am totally freaking out.
16:44There's no time to sew all these garments and to do a jacket.
16:48I'm going to be lucky if I get a shirt made.
16:50This is why I admire those little old men that sit in those tailor shops.
16:55This is like no joke.
16:57Designers, may I ask you to gather round, please?
17:10I was just like, oh, God, now what?
17:14We're all so overwhelmed at that point.
17:18We don't have the time to deal with another surprise.
17:20Designers, I have a special guest.
17:27Hi.
17:28Hi.
17:29In came this fabulous Asian woman who is so tan and gorgeous.
17:34I love Asians.
17:35Asians are fierce.
17:36Designers, I am delighted to introduce you to Ginny Barber.
17:40Ginny is Tiki Barber's wife and she has a very special affinity for menswear.
17:44And she's going to critique your work because she understands Tiki better than anyone.
17:48And we're thrilled that you're here.
17:50Thank you for having me.
17:51All right.
17:52I'll lead the way here.
17:54Ginny, this is Jack.
17:57Hi, how are you?
17:58Hi, Ginny.
17:59It's a pleasure to meet you.
18:01Talk to us.
18:02He said he was experimenting with color, so I wanted a colored pinstripe.
18:05And if you look, it's like a subtle pink.
18:07Okay.
18:08And I'm pairing that with your classic dress shirt with a few details on it.
18:11And on top of that, I'm making a vest.
18:14I love the color.
18:15I love the vest idea.
18:17It's great.
18:18Again, the layering.
18:19Great.
18:20Great.
18:21I'm happy to hear that.
18:24Nice meeting you.
18:25This way.
18:26I'm going to make a suit with a jacket, vest, pants, and a shirt.
18:29Crazy, right?
18:30It's just layering, which I like to do.
18:33And he likes as well.
18:34Oh, thanks.
18:35If you don't mind my saying so, you look like you have a lot of work to do.
18:38I do.
18:39I do.
18:40And I'm freaking out.
18:41If I don't get my piece finished, I feel like the ax is going to drop.
18:43Ricky doesn't look good.
18:44Well, Ricky looks a little panicky.
18:46Yeah, but I got to do it.
18:48You got to do it.
18:49Good luck.
18:50So tell us what you're doing.
18:51Okay, I'm making a dress shirt, tie, suit, and a pocket square.
18:56And one thing I did do for his butt is put a double vent.
18:59This way, you know, it could stick out and it's not going to look odd.
19:02He'll definitely love the colors.
19:05I think the double vent is a great idea.
19:07Have you cut the fabric for the jacket?
19:08No.
19:09So I have a lot of work to do.
19:10There's a lot of work to do.
19:11You do.
19:12Thank you, Kevin.
19:13It was very nice to meet you.
19:15Nice to meet you.
19:16Take care.
19:17After I did meet Ginny, I feel really good about it.
19:18It's coming out great.
19:19I love it.
19:20The only thing was finishing it.
19:22So basically, I'm going for more of a leisure look, but with beautiful, like, suited materials.
19:28I want the jacket to be in this really nice chocolate color that's slightly heathered.
19:32This is reminiscent of, like, a members-only jacket, and it's very casual.
19:38It worries me, too.
19:39Mm-hmm.
19:40It worries me.
19:41I'd reconsider the design of it.
19:45Um...
19:46What's the matter?
19:47I don't think I have enough material.
19:49She said that it looks very much like a members-only jacket, and members-only is reminiscent of the 80s.
19:54So I was a little jolted because it was so late in the hour, and I knew I didn't have enough fabric to start over completely.
20:01It's up to you what you do.
20:03All right?
20:05Designers, we're going to leave you now.
20:09You have until 1 a.m., and I'll see you tomorrow.
20:13Thank you, Tim.
20:14Have a good night.
20:18I decided that I should really scale back on my original design, but I unfortunately did not give myself a lot of options by not purchasing enough fabric.
20:28I'm not doing a jacket.
20:29What are you going to do?
20:30I'm going to make a vest with a dress shirt and a tie.
20:32It was down to crunch time, and I'm really good at making vests, so I changed everything up, drafted a pattern, chopped up a vest, used the lining as a back.
20:41It's like, yeah, I'm totally doing a vest, and I'm thinking, I'm not doing that vest.
20:44What will you have?
20:45A dress shirt and a pants right now.
20:47If I had a pant and a shirt, at least I knew I was covered if I wasn't able to get to the vest, because I didn't want to have a nude model walking down the runway.
20:53Oh, God.
20:54Oh, God.
20:59It's kind of nice.
21:00I have 50 minutes, and I'm .
21:10I was challenging myself to do a lot, and I'm just overwhelmed.
21:14I don't know what the I'm making.
21:15I put the zipper in the wrong way.
21:17Don't go home too soon.
21:19Don't go home too soon.
21:21Shut the up.
21:23Shut the up.
21:24I'm about two minutes away from, like, snapping.
21:28Well, snap.
21:29It's not cool.
21:30You know what, Carmen?
21:31Just snap, because you want to, so go do it.
21:33I mean, jeez.
21:34No, obviously not, because you made it clear that you want me to shut the up.
21:40So don't go home too soon.
21:42Wrong note, bitch.
21:43You're in a wrong note.
21:45Don't bite, you guys.
21:46The sparks were flying between Ricky and Carmen.
21:49Some people are freaking out.
21:57At the end of the night, it doesn't look as though there's much of anything done.
22:02The vibe in the room is one of, oh, what was it that they had on the Titanic right before it sank?
22:09Oh, yeah, panic.
22:11That's it.
22:12We're out of here.
22:13Nobody's really fit.
22:15Nobody's fit.
22:17Coming up on Project Runway.
22:21Ah!
22:22Holy .
22:23I put the shirt on, and I was horrified.
22:26You have two minutes.
22:28It was beyond horrible.
22:30Sweet Pea basically has, like, three quarters of a pair of pants and a tie.
22:44It's going to be way ghetto.
22:46I'm pretty nervous because I know I have very little time to finish my shirt.
22:51I'm just praying that I can sew it together really fast.
22:55It's time for a hangin'.
22:56Sting.
22:57All right, came on.
23:02I have a plan of attack.
23:03I can finish my pants and finish my shirt, and then I can attack the jacket.
23:15It goes balls out because if you go for it and you fall on your ass, fall as hard as you
23:19can.
23:20For the record, this is the hardest challenge I've ever had in my life.
23:23My shirt is adorable.
23:24Your shirt turned out so bright.
23:25It's good because that's all I got going on.
23:26I'm not going to make the vest.
23:27It's not possible.
23:28I'd rather send two things down the runway that I know are really well made and fit really
23:41well.
23:42So, I feel good.
23:44I still have a shirt to do and a collar.
23:48Yeah.
23:49And I haven't even started on the shirt yet.
23:51I wasn't expecting to run into some of the obstacles that I had run into.
23:55So, I'm really concerned that I'm not even going to have enough time to do the shirt.
24:02Good morning, designers.
24:03Good morning.
24:04Good morning.
24:05I am sending in your models.
24:07You will have two hours to send them to the Pressemme Hair Salon and the L'Oreal Paris
24:12Pack-Up Room.
24:13I know you're already using the Blueply.com wall because most of it's gone.
24:17Okay?
24:18So, I'm just going to put this on and then we'll try everything on.
24:24But as you can see, I finished the best.
24:26Dude, the best looks good.
24:27Isn't that nice, right?
24:28I like it.
24:29Ah!
24:30I'm missing what you did.
24:31Ah!
24:32I feel great that I have three pieces and that my look came together the way it was
24:39in my head.
24:40You look perfect in it.
24:42They feel like they're on.
24:43Like, they're okay.
24:44They won't fall down.
24:45Whoa!
24:46That's amazing.
24:47Ah!
24:48Looks great.
24:49Just make sure it's in the center of there.
24:51So, go like one or two or three times and then the other one?
24:53Yeah.
24:54All right?
24:55When the model arrives, I ask him, can you sew buttons?
24:58He's like, yeah, no problem.
24:59Put me to work.
25:00I'm here for you.
25:01Who's going to kill you for it?
25:03Michael will probably say, what is that?
25:06It's still a little tight .
25:08I don't know what I did wrong.
25:10I put the shirt on and I was horrified.
25:13I can't even button it.
25:15The neck is too big.
25:16It's a nightmare.
25:17What would you do?
25:18Would you even send this down?
25:20Honey, there's way worse things going on around here than that.
25:23Really?
25:24Everybody's stressing out.
25:26What am I going to do?
25:28Do I want, like, the slit thing?
25:41Okay.
25:42You're good.
25:50That's really cool.
25:52Designers, you have 15 minutes.
25:55Okay.
25:56How's it going?
25:57There's quite panic coursing through my veins right now.
26:00As we are frenetically running around trying to get our work done.
26:03F*** it.
26:04I need to do this.
26:05I had a lot to do and I bit off a lot more than I could chew.
26:09So I used pens to hem his jacket and his sleeve hem.
26:16I don't know what to do about this.
26:18It's not working at all and I'm really freaked out.
26:22How do I style it to make it look presentable?
26:25Mine's the problem.
26:27Everybody else is good.
26:29It's not good for me.
26:32I had my model try on the pants and I'm terrified about the crotch.
26:37The fit was just, like, beyond horrible.
26:40Carmen, you have two minutes.
26:43I'm so sorry.
26:45I'm worried.
26:46You gotta go, go, go.
26:47Okay.
26:48All right.
26:49Do me a favor.
26:50There's some blue material on the table in there.
26:52Bring that blue material here.
26:53I didn't even have time to do my shirt.
26:56The fabric that I was gonna use for the shirt, I cut a large piece of it out to drape it around his neck for kind of like a shawl collar effect.
27:04Okay, come on.
27:06Designers, we're going down to the runway.
27:08No.
27:09Come on, guys.
27:10Carmen.
27:11Sweet Pea.
27:12Really.
27:13Let's go, go, go.
27:14I think this challenge is gonna be so difficult to judge because there's gonna be so many things that are jacked up.
27:21This is it.
27:22We are going to the runway.
27:24Coming up on Project Runway.
27:26The crotch on the pants is insane.
27:28You put too much on your plate.
27:29It's just messy.
27:34Hello.
27:36Welcome to the runway.
27:38As you know in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.
27:44For this challenge, you had to design an outfit for today's show correspondent, Tiki Barber.
27:49You had $150 and two days to finish this look.
27:54Let's meet the judges.
27:57First, we have top American designer, Michael Kors.
28:00Hey, guys.
28:01Nina Garcia, fashion director of Elle magazine.
28:03Hola.
28:04And your client, legendary New York Giant running back, and today's show correspondent, Tiki Barber.
28:12Good to see you all again.
28:14We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
28:17One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
28:22Let's start the show.
28:23I have never done menswear.
28:28I really felt like if I can do this, I can do anything.
28:33I was very proud of my work.
28:39When I saw my look coming down the runway, I did not feel good at all, because there is no shirt.
28:44That is not a representation at all of who I am as a designer.
28:54In all honesty, it was the most interesting.
28:57My model looked good in it.
28:58I liked it a lot.
28:59I feel pretty confident because my garment's finished.
29:10It's three pieces.
29:11The color palette is nice, and it's definitely TV friendly.
29:18I'm very happy.
29:19I think my look is a little bit less formal, more hip, and somewhat useful.
29:24I think it's a great menswear look.
29:29This is the worst thing I've ever made.
29:34He looks good in the pant, but it looks like the shirt was made by a kindergartner.
29:42I'm embarrassed in front of my peers.
29:49I think the outfit is very much in line with what Cheeky asked for.
29:54It's more conservative.
29:56I couldn't see him wearing it.
29:59I was unhappy with my garment, but amazingly, I was able to somehow pull it off and complete the look.
30:09I was really happy.
30:18It looked like cool menswear, but with a little twist to it, and it looked very European.
30:22And that's what I liked about it.
30:24It had the look that I wanted.
30:33It was simple and sleek, but sophisticated.
30:36I was very happy with it.
30:38I actually thought, wow, it looks like I bought it in a store.
30:48It looks really tailored well.
30:50It was cool.
30:51I wanted to make it.
30:56As a model walking down the runway, I see a little glistening of the pin here and there.
31:01It's a disaster.
31:02I'm nervous because I'm like I hope they don't see the pins. I hope they don't see like the mistakes
31:13I'm excited because I wanted to do a look that was clean and finished looking and I managed to pull that off
31:23we've scored your designs will the following designers please step forward Jillian Christian
31:36Rami Steve Victoria Chris Elisa if I have called your name congratulations
31:53your scores have qualified you to move on to the next challenge you can leave the runway
32:11the six remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the
32:18winner and one of you will be out let's bring out your models I would like to start with kit and
32:37first I would like to hear what tiki things I like this look I like the texture in the shirt it's not
32:43loud but it's there and it's conservative and it fits my nature what is your jacket made my jacket
32:50is made out of fleece I think you were smart picking that Navy fleece because if that wasn't in Navy fleece
32:57like give me a Xanax I'm asleep I like the overall presentation and I think you did well thank you
33:06sweet pea I thought it was messy it's conservative yet it has style it's just messy what I don't
33:15understand how on earth you can let your model walk down the runway with this mess around the neck
33:22what is that could you fold it and show us really what it does no no it is completely messed up what
33:28happened let's really see what's going on let's see the shirt it's a mess the funny thing is the
33:34tie for the crazy proportion of it you sewed it well I think so too you did and I never made a tie in
33:40my life well if a guy was seven foot three it would be a fabulous time unfortunately I'm five nine
33:46Jack the trousers fit him very nicely I think the shirt is a classic shirt with a little bit of a
33:57twist I like the bias on the pocket the plaque it looks really nice it was simple but the textures I
34:03love it's not loud in any kind of way and I did think for a second oh too many stripes stripes right
34:09stripes but um you know I think the stripe in the pant is subtle so it works for me this
34:16outfit looks great to me thank you yes they look perfect but you only have two pieces I understand
34:22yeah I hear you I understand your point but I think safe and perfect looks better than three
34:27or four pieces that are completely wrong and I agree with that I can't be on the air looking like an
34:33idiot Ricky what's with the safety pins holding up that jacket well don't think because we're sitting
34:44over here we don't see that I mean let's be honest I've never made these kind of things so I needed
34:50to go you know full force you made it sloppy I could not wear this on air it's it's I would look
34:57like a fool if I showed up and sat down on the set of the today show and had that on I understand this
35:04is not your thing but why these colors you know it has to be wearable it needs to be for the today
35:10show so it has to be wearable but it doesn't have to be boring this looks dull Ricky Tiki what do you
35:22think about Kevin's outfit for you I don't wear a lot of vests but I like this best the pocket square
35:29with the design on the tie is something that catches your eye but doesn't distract you a lot
35:34I think you maybe ran out of time too who are you looking at the pin on the vest just take the pin
35:41out for a minute if he would have come out like that I never would have known that you weren't
35:46finished I thought of that too I would not like my husband walking around like that seals not going
35:51purple I hope not see you look amazing in this it's more of David Beckham than Tiki you put a
35:59different shirt I would wear that outfit Carmen Tiki what did you think of Carmen's outfit the
36:05jacket is too short if it's short like that are you gonna do is look at my butt Heidi's like Heidi's
36:12like and the problem with that is I just love to hear that guys have the same problem like the
36:18girls do forget the jacket the crotch on the pants is insane you didn't have time to finish your shirt
36:26you take it I did not there is no shirt whatsoever the blue is representing the original shirt that I
36:33wanted can you just completely take it off him this is quite embarrassing because this is not represent me
36:38as a designer this is unacceptable you know I have enough integrity to say this is a complete miss
36:44for me it's rough I mean at the end of the day this goes down to the whole story of you know time
36:50management okay we've heard what you had to say we're gonna have a little chat and then I'm gonna call
36:57you back thank you very much you can leave the runway
37:08okay gang who did we like Kevin his outfit was avant-garde it would make a statement it
37:24had a look it was a little definitely have it was a lot definitely have a lot we like Jax he was smart
37:32yeah because he designed an outfit that I couldn't wear tomorrow and he didn't bite off more than he
37:37get you you know a little bit of a twist though with one third piece would have been helpful to
37:42me that's the only thing I think kit was also fantastic her outfit had complete versatility she
37:50twisted the jacket by making it in fleece so it kind of had a little bit of this cardigan attitude
37:55without looking like grandpa it was unique okay let's go to the ones we didn't like how long do we
38:03have let's start with sweet pea the funny thing is when it first came out I thought it was
38:09intentionally ugly and now in the weird collar and the whole and then I realized no this is just gone
38:16totally wrong there was no there was really nothing no concept Carmen's there was no shirt the jacket was
38:26cropped and not finished pants that didn't fit even if the trousers wouldn't have been for like a
38:31boogie night star and like she had time to make the shirt who would have put that together yeah where
38:37would you have worn that to you couldn't I want to see clothes not a it could have been Ricky it looked
38:44like my five-year-old did it they looked horrible you don't want to sit at a fashion show and see oh no
38:52I saw the fashion show and and this is the kind of presentation that I would get I would not go back I
38:58guess they all thought that they were better than they really are okay we've made our decision yeah I
39:05think we have okay let's bring them back out
39:08one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
39:25one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out Kevin you're in you can leave the
39:42runway Tiki who's the winner I'd like to extend my congratulations
39:52to Jack thank you very much you'll see your design on the today show
40:00congratulations you can leave the runway thank you when they called my name I was like oh my god do I
40:10just freaking want a challenge on project runway that was really freaking cool and he will be wearing
40:17it on the today show that is so hot dude my family is gonna flip I almost start crying
40:24Kit good work you can leave the runway thank you
40:32sweet pea sweet pea you're in you can leave the runway
40:46you can leave the runway
40:59Carmen Ricky one of you will be out
41:05Carmen everything was off the pants the jacket your model was half naked
41:14Ricky your construction and presentation were unacceptable but even if it were perfectly made
41:24it still would have been just a boring old suit
41:27Carmen
41:33you're out
41:36that means Ricky you're in
41:39you can leave the runway
41:41thank you
41:42I hope he does it wonderful opportunity thank you very much
41:56actually it's easier to leave with a high chin and my integrity on menswear because that's not what I do
42:09but you know it's definitely not a happy feeling that I was knocked out of the competition
42:14wow an intense challenge guys
42:19Carmen well I have to send you upstairs to clean up your space
42:23yes all right best wishes thank you
42:28I regret not having the opportunity to show the world the amazing designer that I am I really saw myself as making it to Bryant Park but this is how it goes I've been in this industry for years at the end of the day I am happy with what I've learned from this experience
42:45next on project runway Tim is waiting for you and he's not alone
42:56America start praying for us now sometimes it's better not to fight about it and to go with it
43:00you know I don't believe that her way is the only way and that's it
43:04I was definitely concerned
43:06we agreed to disagree on that one how is that she sees it one way and I see it another
43:10I just can't believe it right now
43:12your outfit looks a little dated
43:14it didn't fit it was old-fashioned the fabric was ugly
43:16she didn't take my advice
43:18I can't help but to say what I think
