00:00But I do want to start on the Philly side because this guy signed on August 31st.
00:05Our guy, front of the program, the front of the program, I would say, Walker Buehler signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.
00:14Buehler was in the organization by 11.59 p.m. on August 31st, which means he is eligible for the postseason roster.
00:22This guy is one of the best postseason performers we have seen in this generation on the mound.
00:27Walker Buehler is trying to find it again. He was removed from the Red Sox starting rotation.
00:33He threw out of the bullpen a couple of times. They ultimately released Buehler to get Peyton Tolley into the fold in Boston.
00:39This is a heck of a landing spot for Walker Buehler. I saw this and I was so excited for him.
00:45He's going to have the opportunity to pitch meaningful innings for Philadelphia in September.
00:50We know they're a little beat up right now, especially with the Wheeler injury, and he can absolutely find his way out of this postseason roster
00:56and throw humongous innings.
00:58Well, and I think also plays a big part in helping them get through the rest of this regular season.
01:02I mean, I just watched Tywon Walker get teed off on in Milwaukee before we started to record here.
01:09And I just also think going through with a six-man rotation, which I think is what they're going to do,
01:13is effective in preserving some of your guys who you want to have a little bit more fresh for the postseason.
01:18But I think about all the conversations we had with Walker on this show about the adrenaline and how much that always helped him.
01:24And I think about what the bank could do for him.
01:26And I think we'll see him ticking back up to grabbing those sixes and sevens a little bit more again.
01:32But I also, I look at the scatterplot, you know, and I look at the stuff.
01:37I still think that there's a very effective arm in there.
01:41He's still just trying to figure out what that looks like because it's a totally different identity than what it was, you know, prior.
01:47But I do think that there's a role that he can fill for this team one way or another.
01:52And again, you add that guy to your postseason situation and you're going to be better off for it,
01:57no matter what the role ultimately is, because he's proven himself time and time again.
02:01And again, he was not good in the regular season last year either and was integral in the World Series title for the Dodgers.
02:07So I'm hoping he gets plenty of opportunity there.
02:10I love the landing spot for him, though, and it works out well for the Phillies as well.
02:14But I think it was a weird circumstance, too.
02:16Like, I don't think Boston, even though he had been so, so rough, it had not been good for him.
02:22I don't think there was it was just a, oh, he's been so bad that we have to release him.
02:26I think it was a culmination of circumstances.
02:28They didn't have the time to really give him the runway in the bullpen.
02:31They needed the roster spot.
02:32And it also seemed like Buehler has earned that opportunity to get out of that situation and go join a better situation for him.
02:39And they felt like it was mutually beneficial.
02:41So it did feel in part like Boston was going right by Buehler.
02:45And that's what Breslow alluded to.
02:49And I think that's that's awesome.
02:52You know, and I think it's cool to see at 31 years old, it's not like Walker's, you know, Clayton Kershaw in 40.
02:57But he's done enough in this game and he's carried himself the way that he does that, you know, a team like the Red Sox after just a few months of him being there and him not really holding up his end of the bargain.
03:09I'm sure he'd tell you that still doing right by him and putting him in a spot here where he can help a team in the World Series.
03:14I'm sure he's done enough.
