00:02I want to talk about because Boehm was one of the worst hitters in baseball
00:04for the first month, month and a half of the season
00:06since he was benched at the beginning of May.
00:10Thank you, P, for identifying that date.
00:12Peyton tells us he's hitting .290 with an .832 OPS,
00:16eight homers, and 26 driven in over that stretch.
00:19Now, Boehm's season-long numbers still don't look that awesome.
00:22But as the Phillies surge and as they start to look like
00:27World Series contenders and legit buyers again,
00:30Boehm has done some lifting for them.
00:32Not necessarily the heavy lifting because that is still reserved
00:35for Schwarber, Harper, Marsh.
00:37But while Trey Turner has continued to be incredibly disappointing
00:41and while Rio Muto has continued to be incredibly disappointing,
00:45Boehm is starting to get better and better and better.
00:48And this is nice if they want to flip him.
00:51They don't have the ability to flip him, I don't think,
00:54because of the injury issues for Aiden Miller.
00:56So you rely on Boehm playing third base for them
00:59through an October run, and I think you're pretty happy
01:02with that right now.
01:03Yeah, I think so.
01:05And it's been one of the more impressive turnarounds
01:08that I can remember.
01:10I mean, going from, I mean, comfortably,
01:13one of the worst hitters in the league,
01:15if not the worst, to be as productive as Ben.
01:18I mean, just to show you how bad it has been,
01:20or it was before, is like most of these guys
01:22that we've talked about, like their hot stretch
01:23has got them over league average numbers.
01:26Alec Boehm still had a 77 WRC+.
01:29So, I mean, credit to him, and I think it's important to know,
01:31like, the guy was dealing with a lot of BS off the fields
01:35before the season started.
01:36Stuff that you don't even fathom anybody would have to deal with, right?
01:40I can't imagine that that didn't affect him
01:43at the start of this season.
01:44As much as I don't think his game translates
01:48into maximum value at third base, whatever it may be,
01:51he's been roughly a league average hitter in his career,
01:55and he's been above average hitter over the last three seasons.
01:59So, I think that had to play a part into it.
02:02And then I think just, I can't imagine struggling on the field,
02:04dealing with stuff off the field,
02:05it feels like you never escape it, I'm sure.
02:07So, just seeing him pick up here,
02:09I think that has to be a part of it.
02:10And then I think also, it has been huge for this Phillies lineup
02:13that at the start of the year we said,
02:14it's like, who is going to lengthen this thing
02:16outside of the superstars?
02:17And for Alec Boehm to just even be close to league average,
02:20I think is going to make a huge difference for them.
02:23So, I think him picking up has been a big deal,
02:25and even if he's just 100 WRC plus the rest of the way,
02:28which he's been far better than, over this stretch,
02:31I think it just helps lengthen this lineup
02:32to where you don't have this catastrophic drop-off.
