00:00All right, it's August 14th here in Kona, Hawaii. We arrived last night about 11 o'clock ahead of what
00:05will become Hurricane Lala.
00:08If Hurricane Lala makes landfall, it is going to be the first official hurricane to make direct landfall on the
00:14Big Island of Hawaii.
00:16You can see numerous volcanoes behind me, some of which have been actually very active over the last year and
00:21a half.
00:22And some of these areas could see upwards of 25 plus inches of rainfall as a result of Lala's landfall.
00:30Whether it makes direct landfall as a Category 1 hurricane or a strong tropical storm or sits just offshore,
00:35the impacts are going to be just the same with many huge waves crashing along the coastline here that could
00:41damage a lot of these coastal homes.
00:42But the big story is going to be that flash flood threat.
00:46Some of these areas, especially in the higher elevation, there's going to see these higher rainfall totals are going to
00:51bear the brunt as all of that rains down into these local communities.
00:55Those near the rivers and creek are going to be at the highest prone for substantial impacts.
