03:41a delay caused by poor weather conditions.
03:45The flotilla, which aims to break the humanitarian blockade imposed by the Israeli regime in Gaza,
03:50had to turn back a few hours after setting sail from the coast of Spain due to the unsafe weather
03:56in the Mediterranean Sea, but managed to resume its routes toward Gaza in the afternoon, local
04:01time.
04:02The twenty vessels, carrying humanitarian aid, food and medical supplies, are considered the

04:33Assembly to be held from September 9th to 23rd in New York.

05:03socialist republic.
05:05The event marks the nation's declaration of independence from French colonialism on September
05:102nd, 1945, which turned the Asian country into a beacon of hope for the liberation movements
05:16across the world.
05:18Vietnam has presently a developing economy, with an increasing improvement of its population living
05:24standards, a stable social and political situation and strong institutions that guarantee
05:29its defense and security.
05:31Its economic integration with the rest of the world is increasingly wider and profound.
05:36The celebration featured a military parade in the country's capital, Hanoi, which brought
05:41together around 40,000 participants, organizing 87 military divisions, ceremonial units, civilian

06:37Kalimantan province.
06:38It was supposed to arrive at 10.15 am local time.
06:42Its last contact with air traffic control was at 8.55 am local time.
06:48The helicopter, carrying one pilot, one engineer and six passengers, lost contact at the Mantewe
06:54Forest area in Natambububu district.

07:03fires.
07:05Today, the area that will be covered in the search to be conducted by 140 people is 27

07:58Welcome back.
08:02In Sudan, at least a thousand people died as a result of a landslide that destroyed the
08:07village in the Mahra mountain area in the western region of Darfur, leaving only one survival.
08:13According to a rebel group that controls the area, the village of Tarzin in the Jebel Mahra
08:18area was destroyed by a landslide, which caused the deaths of approximately 1,000 individuals,
08:24and only one survival has been found.
08:27The movement is making an urgent appeal to the United Nations and to regional and international
08:32organizations to help recover the bodies of the victims who are still under the rubble.
08:38Meanwhile in Afghanistan, authorities continued search and rescue efforts in Kunar province
08:42after the 6.0 magnitude earthquake that left more than 900 deaths.
08:48Afghanistan spokesperson Zabidele Mujahid said that support teams and medical are still
08:54helping the affected, while rescue teams continue to look for the missing.
08:59However, these operations have been hindering by landslides that have blocked vital roads
09:03in the region.
09:05Amidst the tragedy, the Afghan government has formed a special committee to coordinate the
09:09emergency response.
09:11Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior, Defence and Health together with the Red Crescent,
09:17remain mobilized, delivering basic foodstuff, medical supplies and other essential items
09:23to the affected areas.
09:24On Monday, Guyana held presidential and legislative elections that were crucial in defining its political
09:31and economic course in a context marked by the oil boom.
09:35More than 750,000 citizens were eligible to vote in about 2,790 polling stations distributed
09:44throughout the country, most of which is covered by tropical rainforests.
09:48The Electoral Commission announced that preliminary results will not be known until next Thursday.
09:55Observers from the European Union, the Organization of American States, CARICOM and the Carter Center
10:01described the elections as orderly and transparent. The day passed peacefully, although there were
10:07reports of low turnout in several areas and logistical difficulties.
10:12In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro denounced the deployment of U.S. warships and a nuclear
10:16submarine in the Caribbean Sea targeting Venezuela.
10:20The President described the U.S. military mobilization as the greatest threat in the history
10:24of Latin America.
10:26Also the head of state asserted that the military maneuver is an extravagant, unjustifiable,
10:31immoral, absolutely criminal and bloody threat.
10:35Maduro emphasized that Washington has wanted to move toward what they call a maximum pressure
10:40and responded to this case by declaring maximum preparation for the defense of Venezuela.
10:46He also assured that the United States has staged a forced and warned President Donald Trump
10:50that the extremist mafia in Miami has taken political power in the White House and has influenced
10:56the U.S. foreign policy throughout the State Department.
10:59On its end, Colombia called for Latin America and the Caribbean to remain a region free of
11:04military intervention at CELAC's online Foreign Minister Summit.
11:08Colombia's Foreign Minister Rosa Villavicencio highlighted the importance of the meeting in
11:13the context of the U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean Sea.
11:17On the other hand, the bloc's foreign ministers retaliated their commitment to preserving Latin America
11:25as a region free of military intervention and in strict compliance with international law.
11:31The regional organization declared Latin America and the Caribbean as a son of peace during
11:35its second summit meeting held in Havana in 2014.
11:40The Havana gathering also supported the 1967 treaty held in Tlatololco, Mexico, which established
11:46the region as a free of nuclear weapons.
11:50And during the CELAC summit, Venezuela denounced the military deployment carried out by the United
11:54States in the Caribbean.
11:56According to Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Hill, the growing U.S. military deployment in
12:01the Caribbean waters is a serious threat to regional peace and flagrant violation of the
12:06status of peace zone declared by CELAC in 2014.
12:10The high Venezuelan official said that Venezuela faces an unprecedented situation in terms of
12:15regional security, with the presence of eight U.S. warships in the Caribbean Sea, with more
12:21than 1,200 missiles on board and nearly 4,200 troops trained and ready for an invasion.
12:29And also warned of the possible presence in the area of a nuclear submarine, which not only
12:33violates the 2014 zone of peace declaration, but also the treaty of Tlatololco.
12:43As an excuse for this unusual and, let's say, gross deployment on our coast, a completely
12:54false narrative has been used.
12:59A narrative accusing Venezuela and our president, Nichols Maduro Moros,
13:08as leaders of an alleged cartel that they have named the Cartel of the Sons, a cartel that
13:18was supposed to smuggle drugs into this region.
13:22And it is a narrative that has been debunked, even by the United States agencies themselves,
13:28and by a report by the U.S. State Department itself, the NODC, which is the United Nations
13:35Agency for Drug Control, and the fight against organized crime, has repeatedly pointed out
13:40that Venezuela, first and foremost, is a territory free of illegal crops.

14:02The final short break coming, don't go away.
14:15Welcome back to From the South.
14:17Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will not appear before the Supreme Court during
14:21the final phase of the trial against him, which begins on Tuesday and will last until
14:26September 12.
14:28The 70-year-old former president, who is under house arrest, must be declared innocent or guilty
14:34by the federal Supreme Court, the highest court of justice in Brazil, whose decision
14:39is final.
14:40His lawyer, Celso Vilardi, has stated that Bolsonaro will not attend the court during the final stage
14:46of his trial.
14:47Bolsonaro is accused, among many other things, of having defended a coup d'etat to prevent
14:53Lula da Silva, whom defeated him in the 2020 elections, from taking power.
14:58Meanwhile, in Argentina, justice gave in to Javier Millet's government and censored the
15:03release of a new audio recording about the bribery scandal at the National Disability Agency.
15:10Opposition politicians said that the ruling of the federal civil and commercial judge of
15:15the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires sets a serious precedent for transparency and the fight
15:20against corruption.
15:21They also denounced that the censorship not only prevents citizens from learning the truth
15:26about the case, but also protects potentially implicated government officials, weakening democratic
15:31institutions and the right access to information.
15:34We're here in Havana, Cuba.
15:41Behind me is De Malecón, maybe one of the best known places in the Cuban capital.
15:47But today we want to take you to other places of the city, places that are less well known,
16:06but where neighbors day to day are working in a collaborative effort, always thinking in
16:12the best for their communities.
16:13In this case, we went to El Cerro, that is about seven to eight kilometers south from here.
16:19In there, Annie Becks, in her house, in her workshops, she is leading her own revolution,
16:25a revolution against consumerism and waste society that is hurting our world so much.
16:32Today, in the Cuban way, De Vuelta.
16:36In Cuba, the culture of recycling takes root in Havana, with small private entrepreneurs,
16:41such as the ones who founded De Vuelta, a company that recycles this regarded glass to create
16:46new products for commercial and social use.
16:49Our correspondent in Havana, Belén de los Santos, tells us more.
16:54De Vuelta is Spanish for coming back around, rediscovering what had been discarded.
17:00This is the name of the glass recycling project born in El Cerro, a neighborhood in the south of Havana,
17:06led by Annie Becks.
17:08Nurse, actress and creator, her interest in creating environmental awareness in her community
17:14dates back to her childhood.
17:17Since I was a child, I used to look for bottles.
17:21My job at the Revolution Defense Committee was to recover raw material and I used to go around with a card
17:27knocking on doors so that the bottles were thrown away to recover them.
17:31My love for that, for recycling, for the environment, has always been there.
17:36It is a concern of mine and a latent commitment.
17:43The project began in the year 2021, after the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the harshest face of a world in crisis.
17:50Since then, De Vuelta seeks to educate about the concrete impact that our actions have on the planet.
17:57In its creative recycling workshops, children and adults learn to transform bottles rescued from the trash into new treasures.
18:05And when they finish, they are ready to continue replicating the experience in their communities.
18:10What I was most excited about was to come and learn this technique and then go back home and be able to give a new life and a new form to everything we have collected.
18:20I also want to integrate it to the construction of my house, which is really the objective I am looking for.
18:29I want to make skylights with bottles in the areas we are building right now and also to transmit the idea to people who might be interested.
18:38That you don't have to look for one of these nice skylights from the store, that you can make them in a very practical way with bottles.
18:45Through creative contact with the material, De Vuelta pursues a deeper goal.
18:53To demonstrate that consumerism and throw away mentality from capitalism is the cause of the serious environmental crisis that the planet is going through.
19:05Normally, we see the culture, the culture of consumerism. Let's put it that way.
19:10Where something is no longer useful. It has lost its use, supposedly, and it's gone.
19:15But those things can be transformed into something else.
19:18You can give them another use and you feel it a little more yours.
19:21When you start to see everything that can be done with glass, you have a little more respect when it comes to throw it away or not.
19:28It is a rebellion against consumer society, which is what is largely destroying the planet.
19:42Behind each glass, behind each recycled cup, there is a collective effort.
19:47And for Annie Becks, at the end of the day, what matters most is the power of joining efforts in the face of adversity.
19:54Glass is a pretext to do something together, to transform something that was no longer useful, no longer functional, and make it work.
20:07I emphasize this a lot in my workshops.
20:12Unity.
20:14The importance of coming together, of doing something together.
20:17To care about what you are doing and getting involved to help you do it better.
20:22So I am constantly promoting this.
20:26The importance of uniting, of standing together.
20:31Because separated, we are not going anywhere.
20:34Belen de los Santos, Denise Arabi, for Telesur, from Havana, Cuba.
