00:13with your favorite people. Each episode, we invite a new special guest to bring a game
00:18of their choosing and a band of their besties. Tonight's special guest is one of my personal
00:24favorite people to betray. Ify Wadiway. Hello, how's it going? Oh. Ify, tell us what game
00:36we're playing today. Well, we're playing Betrayal on Hill House. Betrayal at the house on the
00:43hill, just like you said. I love it. This is one of my all-time favorite spooky Halloween
00:47games. We will talk more about why you love this game in just a moment, but first, it's
00:52awkward if we don't introduce the other people sitting here with us. We got my buddy, Zeke
00:56Nicholson here, ready to play, ready to game. What's up? And haunting this side of the table,
01:01we have Ronnie Adrian. Trust me, I am well qualified to be at this table and mess this game up.
01:08And next in, we have Alex Songshat. Hi. I just want the table to know I'm feeling very fragile
01:15today. Keep that in mind if you betray. Okay, I think the perfect people to play this game
01:22today. Yeah. Ify, what is it you love about this specific game? Well, I love a lot of tile-based
01:29tabletop games where you were building out the dungeon as you went. And this one, you know,
01:34it adds a little spiciness because you got Betrayal. Someone becomes a bad guy. Or maybe
01:39I become the bad guy. You'll all have to fight me. Also because one of the characters looks like
01:44me. They went and did that. But we're all okay with some horror? I would much rather it be a deeply
01:50religious game. But if it has to be horror, then so be.
01:58A game of Betrayal at the House on the Hill begins with players exploring a haunted house
02:02built long ago and largely abandoned, at least by humans.
02:09In the first part of this game, the players are all on the same team, cooperatively exploring the
02:14house. As they enter unopened doors, they reveal and place room tiles, building the map of the house
02:20together. When discovering a new room, a player draws a card matching the symbol on the room tile that
02:26represents one of the various events, items or omens left behind in the house. At some point,
02:32once enough omens have been discovered, the second part of the game begins, the haunt.
02:38During the haunt, the evil entity of the house reveals itself. At the start of the haunt, the
02:49players will no longer all be on the same team. One will become the traitor while the others play
02:53heroes attempting to stop them. The first team to complete their secret goal wins. Will our brave and
03:00cursed explorers survive the haunted house, or will they perish forever entombed in these
03:05horrid halls? Only time will tell. I didn't know how to play this, but after hearing you...
