Versus Chapter Review: Getting Past the Point of No Return

So we get alot of new information on the Parasites with these chapters. And some other info on how well the Controlled Titans do in battle. With a great cliffhanger for the next chapter.

00:00Hello and welcome back, my fellow members of humanity.

00:04I'll be going over two chapters today, since they were grouped as part 1 and 2, so this

00:09is probably going to be longer than my usual one chapter reviews.

00:14Remember to like and subscribe as always, but now, let's begin.

00:28We start out with Xebi disguising himself and getting his staff back, while the Lawless

00:33are dealing with the Tyrant Bear.

00:35A nice detail I did not notice on my first read through was I thought Xebi casted Feather

00:40Boots on himself, but he actually casted it on the other Lawless so they wouldn't get

00:46smashed by the bear.

00:48Grigg uses the drumming mode for the Titans to stop the bear, but it still is not doing

00:54enough so he asks where his brother is and Gout tells him that he ran off towards the

00:59human base.

01:01Renri goes down to where they keep all of their prisoners and sucks the souls out of them to

01:07fill up his curse world technology.

01:10And he comes out to the battlefield and releases it, it transforming into a huge gun and blasts

01:16that gigantic hole in the bear, killing it.

01:20Renri also spots Xebi and tells the others to recapture him, but it turns out the bear

01:26was not fully dead.

01:28Were you killed?

01:29Sadly yes, but I lived.

01:32It turns out that the Tyrant Bear was infected with a parasite and now that it died, it fully

01:38awakened and is now running wild, absorbing everyone to add to its mass.

01:43The Lawless are of course terrified of this and want to run away, but Renri then pulls

01:48out a tactic from a Warhammer 40k's Commissar Handbook, killing anyone who even thinks about

01:55retreating.

01:57The Lawless are not standing a chance, so Xebi orders the others to team up with them because

02:02they can't risk this parasite getting beyond a solvable point.

02:06Renri fires another shot from his cursed turret, but it just simply heals from it, and attacks

02:13him destroying the weapon.

02:14He is then saved by Xebi and the rest of them, and they all start working together to beat

02:20this thing.

02:21Renri theorizes that they did this so they can subjugate them by staging this whole thing,

02:27but Xebi tells him that they are genuinely trying to help, and they did not plan for

02:34things to get this bad.

02:36The parasite then shotguns other parasites at all of them, getting Renri infected, but

02:41then we see and find out that it has now chosen Gout to be its primary brain to use as

02:49its intelligence.

02:50He quickly kills Grig because he still remembers his hatred for him, and moves on to the others.

02:57And Cartel tells everyone that this parasite has gone critical mass, and is beyond stopping

03:03at this point, becoming a super worm.

03:07You gotta be fucking kidding.

03:11Seeing no solution here, the only thing the Lawless can think to do is pray.

03:17Which Naurai, from Indignia, frantically tells them to stop, but it's too late.

03:24We see an eye begin to open up, with the design of their world appearing, ending the chapter.

03:30So, I will fuse the discussion about the Tyrant Bear and the Parasite since they are pretty

03:48much linked in this chapter.

03:50The Tyrant Bear was doing pretty well on its own, and I don't think it was being enhanced

03:55or anything like that by the parasite.

03:57It was able to hold off, and if it continued, probably beat three controlled titans.

04:03Now I don't think these titans are as strong as the regular ones, but I will talk more about

04:08that when I discuss the Lawless.

04:11But like any living thing, if it gets a hole blasted through it, it dies.

04:17Now I don't think the parasite could awaken in the bear, because it was too strong of a host.

04:23Like we saw previously with a titan, the only symptom he had was an itch.

04:28But the parasite could not utilize his body until he died.

04:32And the fact that the whole crimson forest is infected with these guys is a problem, because

04:38now everything that comes out of the forest could have a second form.

04:43Luckily, as long as you cook the parasite well done, it is able to be eaten.

04:48Now moving on to the parasite design wise, you have already seen I've been making comparisons

04:54to the thing, but it may also get its design from William Birkins from Resident Evil when

05:00he is infected with the G-Virus.

05:03I say this because of all the fleshy textures on it with the huge eye in the middle, reminding

05:09me of his final form.

05:11We see it can absorb other beings into itself, adding to its fleshy mass, along with having

05:17super regeneration, healing from the turret shot that killed the bear in moments.

05:23It can also fire out immature parasites that have grown past the egg stage to infect others

05:29quicker.

05:30And it even fired out fully mature parasites to stop people from leaving the area.

05:35And they can most likely attack and absorb others as well, eventually being reabsorbed

05:41into the main mass.

05:43And then its most terrifying ability it has is to choose an intelligent brain of a being

05:49it absorbs to become the commanding host.

05:53So now it can think on a similar level to a human, and it keeps their memories.

05:59So for example, if someone gets absorbed into it, it may now know where the rest of your

06:04group is.

06:05Then by the end of the chapter, we see it go past the point of no return, becoming a super

06:10worm.

06:12Which the head reminds me of a scene in The Thing.

06:22And this thing has such an intimidating and creepy design.

06:26I love it.

06:27This right here is my favorite thing ever.

06:30In the history of forever.

06:31I think about this every day.

06:33I think about this all night long.

06:34I stay awake, not sleeping, because I'm thinking about this.

06:39It's so grotesque and beautiful in its design.

06:42I absolutely love it.

06:44But that's everything I can say about the parasite so far, and we will see how it will

06:49fare against the mad god next chapter.

06:53So next on the chopping block are the lawless.

06:56The titans they use are useful, but in this chapter I notice they seem to not be able to

07:02bring out their full power.

07:05Since they do go into drumming mode, getting larger and turning red.

07:10But they don't seem to become as large as the usual titans, which may be a downside to

07:16cybernetically controlling them.

07:18They cannot bring out their strength as well as the regular ones can.

07:23Then moving on to Rinri and Gor.

07:26They both showed their skills by dodging the parasite tentacle attack, and Gor even pushed

07:30back on Rinri saying that they need to leave because it's becoming a lost cause at this

07:36point.

07:37Rinri this chapter used another one of the Cursed Lands weapons, and I do think he went

07:42a little overkill with how many souls he used.

07:46Because with a 50 soul shot, it went through a bear and through other buildings in the background

07:52and beyond.

07:5320 souls probably would have been the minimum amount to kill it.

07:57But the parasite destroyed it, so it's off the table for use now.

08:01When Rinri tells Zebi that he is trying to kill them all, I think in his mind, because

08:07he is being so selfless, he will drag his lawless group, which is already done for, and his

08:15own group, of humanity, into this mess which could end up killing all of them.

08:21Or this type of behavior will kill them all in the future at some point.

08:26But we see he gets infected, and it's honestly scary that he did, because if he becomes the

08:33host mind in a parasite collective being, it's gonna get bad.

08:38He will raise the danger of the parasites by a decent margin since we have already seen

08:42how intelligent he has been so far.

08:45Then not a whole lot to talk about humanity wise this chapter.

08:49Masayoshi takes both a W and an L this chapter because his plan worked to distract them, but

08:57it has now ballooned out of proportion.

09:00It basically got rid of all the lawless, but has also killed some of our guys as well.

09:06And it has unfortunately culminated in the creation of a super parasite.

09:11Zabi showed his humanitarian side again, helping the lawless fight back and saving them, along

09:17with sharing their weapons with them.

09:20I am hoping showing at least a few of them this kindness will make them switch sides now,

09:26seeing Zabi as their boss, aiming all their aggression and tenacity towards helping humanity

09:32as a whole.

09:34This could backfire on him, but we will see what happens after all of this is done.

09:39And now everyone is going to have to deal with the mad god arriving, so I am sure Zabi can

09:45maneuver his way through this somehow.

09:48So this was a great read for me, with it referencing one of my favorite movies.
