00:00Hey everyone, you might be wondering why I am reviewing this manga one-shot, and it's because
00:05it is from my personal favorite mangaka, Kentaro Miura. This, to my knowledge, is his first piece
00:12of work, and I plan on every milestone I reach to cover one of his works. I will explain more
00:20about my plans later on after my review and discussion of this one-shot, Futatabi. Even
00:26though this is his first work, I still think it's pretty interesting, so let's get into
00:31it. Oh yeah, and before I forget, I'm going to have to do some censoring since there is
00:37nudity in here, so you can go to my other sites I post on if you want to see it
00:42uncensored.
00:43The link tree for it will be in the description. We begin with a woman climbing out of a cave
00:49and standing over a cliff overlooking a gigantic city with her wondering where she is and what
00:55all of this is, where we then cut to Rick, who is just walking through the city and bumps
01:01into her, which he sees she is in distress and tells her to follow him back to his place
01:07since it's safe. So once they get back to his place, he introduces himself and she reveals
01:13her name to be Venus. He asks why she was being chased, but she just says that they have been
01:20chasing her since she got here, to this different world is what she calls it. We cut over to what
01:25seems like to be the leader of the city, John, who is frantically ordering the police to find this
01:33intruder, saying that no one can know of their existence or it could endanger all of humanity,
01:38and that no one can find out about Area B or the path connecting the two, or it could destroy
01:45the
01:46system that has been in place for a century now. With us cutting back to Rick, not believing that
01:51Venus is from another world, with her saying that her world is very similar with packed in buildings
01:58surrounded by cave walls. The only difference being the people who live here. He then tells her to go
02:05wash up since she is pretty dirty. With him setting some clothes out for her, but when she gets out,
02:11he freaks out because, in his words, her chest is swollen and she doesn't have anything down there.
02:18With her explaining that all of her people's chests grow when they mature, and everyone looks similar
02:25to her, anatomy-wise. Rick is then spacing out at work, thinking about Venus, with his boss Jack
02:32wondering what's wrong with him. He explains who Venus is and the strange things about her, but
02:38Jack just tells him to kick her out so he doesn't get in trouble. While walking back home, he sees
02:44that the police are still looking for Venus, and that General John is even out doing the search
02:50himself as well. He arrives to his house with Venus asking if she could go outside, since she's been
02:56inside for an entire week. With Rick of course being against it, but he eventually gives in, making her
03:03put on a disguise.
03:11And we get a montage of how their night went and all the things they did. Near the end of
03:17the night,
03:18Venus says that the people of her world said that there was nothing else outside of the city, and she
03:24went and explored anyway, finding this world. With Rick wondering if there is other worlds outside of the
03:32two that they were from. With him then getting a surge of feelings looking at her, but he suppresses
03:39it and walks her back home, since she got a little too drunk. And they seem to live happily together
03:46for
03:46many weeks onward. Back at his job, Jack again is telling him to kick her out, since the authorities are
03:53definitely looking for her specifically, but he gets interrupted by a phone call. Which turned out to be Rick's
04:00landlord telling him that the cops are here, checking all the rooms for Venus. So they break into his
04:06house, finding her there, but Rick makes it in in time, knocking them out and running to his job for
04:13shelter. Jack tells them to lay low, but Venus wants to try to leave this place so they can try
04:19to find a
04:19world where they both can live peacefully, with Rick of course agreeing, since he could see the pain she was
04:26in
04:27staying cooped up in the house for so long. Jack seeing how they feel about each other agrees to help
04:33them, so he gets
04:34some supplies, and one of the cars they were working on, and attempts to leave this world. They get to
04:40the cave, but a drone
04:42starts to attack them, with Jack beating it, but not before he gets heavily injured. As he is dying, he
04:49tells them the path not to get to area B, but to get to the
04:53outside world, so they can live together. And as they leave, the authorities arrive, finding him with John, telling
05:00them not to shoot him, since he was the head general in the past. He asks for a favor of
05:06John to not chase
05:07them, since they won't go and disrupt the other area, and it would just be cruel to separate them or
05:14wipe their memories
05:15at this point. With his last words, asking him to let them live. So he does call off the chase
05:22with us
05:22getting some history on why the world has become the way it is. They tell us that there was a
05:28great war
05:29that nearly eradicated all of humanity, and some survivors hid in these caves. Because of the limited
05:36space, they tried to curtail the population through almost every method, but none of them worked. So the final
05:44method they came up with was to mind wipe everyone, separating men and women to different parts of the
05:50cave, and using artificial wombs to birth people, taking care of every problem that they had. With the
05:57final page being Rick and Venus walking out onto the surface. Alright, first I want to get the world
06:04building stuff out of the way before I go on to the characters. The fact that there was a final
06:10world war,
06:11and humanity was forced to hide under the ground for 138 years is insane. And I do understand why they
06:19came up to the conclusion of separating the two sexes, because they only have so much room and resources
06:27underground. You can tell your population not to have children, but that's still not going to stop population
06:33growth, and could eventually lead to revolts or causing the government to be even more controlling.
06:41So they either already had the tech for artificial wombs, or it was invented after a few decades of
06:48being underground. They solved the solution to all of this with the most evil thing they probably did,
06:54being to forcefully mind wipe everyone, which couldn't have been a peaceful event. And they do it to just
07:01about everybody, except for the few people in charge. With them even mind wiping themselves after
07:08they stepped down as leader, probably just explaining everything to their replacement before doing so.
07:14And I say they mind wiped themselves, since Jack did not remember his time as leader, or what Area B
07:21was
07:21until getting a head injury which unlocked his dormant memories. The only real problem I could see
07:28humanity having at this point is if there was some kind of major earthquake that could destroy
07:34both areas wiping humanity out. So I would say overall it was a decent plan, but not the best one.
07:42Now getting to the characters, Jack is first. He seemed to be an older male who watches out for Rick,
07:49giving him advice and worrying about his health, and overall is a good man and mentor figure for Rick.
07:56With what he represents in the story being the older generation wanting a better future for the
08:03younger. Not wanting Rick and Venus to be separated, and even though they will probably have a difficult
08:09journey ahead of them, they will at least have each other. Now Venus is the catalyst for all this
08:16happening. Since she was told as she was growing up that there was nothing beyond Area B, but she wanted
08:23to
08:23discover it herself, so she ventured off on her own, eventually finding Area A where all of the men are.
08:31With I am guessing Area B finding out she left warning Area A because it seems they were already looking
08:38for her as soon as she got there. Running into Rick was probably the best luck she could have had,
08:45with him being a kind person wanting to protect someone he saw that was in distress. And I do like
08:52the
08:52small mystery they had at first with Venus trying to explain how her world is different from his.
08:58With it being obvious on how both of the worlds are different in the shower scene, with her explaining
09:05everyone in her world looks like her. And I am a bit surprised we didn't get a similar scene with
09:11Venus seeing Rick naked. And we see as the chapter goes on that they start to really enjoy each other's
09:18company, and even if they don't realize it, they start to fall in love. With both of them deciding
09:24to abandon their world so they won't be separated, wanting to forge a new path together. Which I think
09:31is the main message of this one shot being that human nature will eventually find a way forward,
09:38not staying in this stagnant state it was currently in. With the main driving force here being love,
09:45which gives both Venus and Rick the courage to venture into the unknown of both the world outside
09:52and their relationship. Like I said in the beginning, Miura is the author of my favorite manga,
09:59Berserk. And to celebrate his life and works, I decided to review all of his works with every milestone I
10:07get on my channel. With Futatabi being for me making it to my 500 subscriber mark.
10:15And I will name the order I will get to all of his works now. At 1,000 subscribers I
10:21will do
10:21Noah. At 2,500 I will do Orao. At 5,000 Oruden. At 7,500 I will do Japan. At
10:3610,000 I will do Gigantomachia.
10:38At 100,000 I will do Doranki. And finally, if I ever get to it, at 1,000,000 subscribers
10:46I will begin to review
10:47Berserk. Since I think at that point I will have enough skill and experience with reviewing and editing to
10:56do the series justice because that's what I think it deserves. I know I may never get to that, but
11:03it's
11:03something for me to strive and struggle towards. And I hope at least some of you will go on this
11:09journey with me. Overall, this was a decent first work of Miura. I would probably give it a 6 to
11:176.5
11:18out of 10. Nothing too special, but a good read. I would like to know what you guys thought of
11:24it,
11:25and how you feel about how I am going to tackle his works in the comments down below. If you
11:31haven't
11:32yet, please like the video and subscribe if you are interested in any of the other series I talk
11:38about on the channel. And with all that out of the way, I will see you guys later. Bye guys!
11:55Bye guys!
