From daily storms east of the Rockies to coastal hazards in the Southeast, here's a breakdown of the forecast across the U.S. for this Labor Day weekend.
Transcript
00:00It's going to be a lot of rain out there. Already too much for some.
00:04And David, as we look ahead, the path that a lot of these disturbances will continue to take
00:09are going to drift across the Gulf Coast region and then kind of round the bend through Florida.
00:14So again, one big storyline for the weekend, this round of rain, the next and the next after that,
00:20all following a similar path to some of the most disruptive weather in the nation this weekend
00:23wound up being into Florida and South Georgia, where a lot of this is headed.
00:27So one thing for the weekend, we've got the tropical downpours along the eastern Gulf Coast,
00:31and that will get in the way of some of your outdoor plans if you're in that area.
00:34So the Gulf Coast, tropical downpours and still showers and storms in Texas.
00:38Daily thunderstorms this weekend into the Rockies and the Western Plains.
00:42Meanwhile, we're looking great in the northeast with bright days and cool nights.
00:46Really nice weather here for some. We're going to enjoy some high pressure there.
00:49And we also have a big ridge of high pressure over the northern part of the northwest.
00:52So warmest weather on Saturday, pretty warm on Sunday as well.
00:56But in between here, we have this zone of thunderstorms,
01:01kind of the boundary between the heat to the west and the cooler air up in the Great Lakes region.
01:05So daily showers and storms, localized flash flooding Friday, Saturday.
01:10And there's going to be a lot of heat that builds in the northwest this Saturday and Sunday
01:14with some very warm weather up this way all the way deep up into Canada.
01:18In fact, we've been tracking some potential for near, well, very significant heat
01:24all the way north to Yellowknife in the northwest territories on par with some of the temperatures
01:28down into Georgia. Pretty amazing to see that contrast.
01:32But the weekend, more storms in the plains, the western half of the plains, I should say,
01:36into the Rockies and across the south with great weather in the interior.
01:40So beachgoers, beware.
01:41Thunderstorms in Miami Beach, Orange Beach, Alabama Saturday, Hilton Head, South Carolina here and there.
01:46And great weather in the northeast and mid-Atlantic up into Ocean City,
01:48but it's going to be a little cool up that way.
01:51So nice weather for a lot of activities.
01:54Maybe a little cool for the swimmers there in New Jersey and Maryland.
