00:00Diwali Nagar 2025 has been launched, entitled Loka Sangraha, meaning the welfare of all.
00:09We have created an evening of emerging superstars, that is instrumentalists, vocalists,
00:16and a night of dance, giving those young and promising artists an additional opportunity
00:22to perform at the Nagar. The talent is immense, giving them the opportunity to perform an
00:28international stage is something they look forward to. The Nagar runs from the 11th to the 19th of
00:35October. This year's Nagar will be a vibrant tapestry of cultural performances, educational
00:42programs, and community engagements, all designed to inspire and unite. This year we emphasize
00:50inclusivity and sustainability, ensuring that our festivities reflect respect of our environment
00:57and commitment to social harmony. But getting an event of this nature off the ground takes millions
01:04of dollars. This year Diwali Nagar is going to cost us approximately 3.5 million dollars.
01:11And we are hoping, based on what happened last year, we barely broke even. And that was even with
01:19government's 2024 support of five hundred thousand dollars. We try a lot. We raise a lot of money
01:27to host this event by both rentals, corporate sponsorship and individuals coming forward and
01:34identifying with the event. And I'm hoping and I'm going to seize the opportunity now to call on
01:40corporate Trinidad and Tobago to come forward and assist us with hosting this year's Diwali Nagar.
01:47For corporate event manager George Singh, it's about finding new and innovative ways to get the
01:53private sector more involved. In the corporate area of the event, there are so many different things
01:57to see at the Diwali Nagar. The 175 commercial booths, the 40 NGO booths, the many different Indian
02:06expos all in one place, and of course the food village housing more than 40 of the best vegetarian
02:12vendors in the country. The food village is one of the biggest attractions at the Diwali Nagar,
02:18featuring every possible type of vegetarian combination. While there will be no fireworks to
02:24end off this year's Nagar, the main stage production involves long-standing and upcoming talents from
02:31across the Indian diaspora, performing devotional songs and dance to fit the festivities. Feature speakers
02:38on each of the nine nights include the president, the prime minister, and the opposition leader.
02:44A tribute is to be paid to former NCIC president Darup Timal, who was heavily involved in this year's
02:51planning before his passing three weeks ago. Arvishi Tawwari, Rupnarain, TV6 News.
