00:00Port of Spain South MP Keith Scotland hosted a back-to-school drive at his constituency office today
00:05where he gave out school bags, lunch bags and other supplies to the children of his constituency.
00:11Scotland says he has absolutely no doubt that the future of Trinidad and Tobago,
00:15which lies with the children, is bright.
00:18And he is even more certain of that given the interactions he's had with the children of his constituency.
00:23Having interacted with them very closely for the past six years,
00:29I am now totally convinced beyond any reasonable doubt
00:35that these young people, they want to do well, they want to succeed,
00:40they want to be contributors to Trinidad and Tobago.
00:45And this is my small way of assisting them in that journey.
00:52Scotland also sought to reassure his constituents that they can always count on him.
00:57They understand that words without actions are empty.
01:03And they understand that their MP is there for them,
01:07and that their MP, me, I will be there for them.
01:13Come hell or high water.
01:16He explains that many of his constituents have lost their main source of income,
01:20hence they are in need of assistance because of the rising cost of school and school supplies.
01:26Some of them are not working or have lost their main source of employment
01:37and may have multiple children, more than one, to send back to school.
01:46And due to the escalating costs for school books and supplies,
01:52it has become very difficult for them.
01:56And they are experiencing that pinch at this time.
02:02And the MP also had a message for the kids as they get set to go back to school.
02:07Going back to school is serious business, kids, but I want you all to have fun.
02:14This is your time.
02:19And rule.
02:20This is your time.
02:21Rule.
02:22Enjoy your time.
02:23You know, embrace your time.
02:26Empower your time with your energies and your efforts.
