00:00So they're leading with the statement from this alleged husband.
00:03How it looks like Variety and MSN-18 did the same thing.
00:06Some of them sell very popular accounts on social media accounts.
00:09The white man is still doing it.
00:11Hundreds of years of the systematic rape of my people is not enough, is it?
00:30Jonathan Joss was an American actor and musician of Native American ancestry.
00:47In 1994, he appeared on the television series Walker, Texas Ranger.
00:52Joss provided the voice of John Redcorn from seasons 2 to 13 of the animated series King of the Hill,
01:01replacing the original actor Victor Aaron after Aaron's death in 1996.
01:07Well, Jahan Redcorn.
01:10Peggy Hill.
01:12Hey, speaking of the red man, it's John Redcorn.
01:16Hey, what a coinkydink.
01:18He also portrayed the recurring role of Chief Ken Hotate.
01:22in Parks and Recreation.
01:23Thank you for coming.
01:24Would you like some water?
01:25Water.
01:27Like fire water?
01:28That's racist.
01:29And I do not appreciate it.
01:31No, no, no, no, no.
01:31I'm just messing with you.
01:33Joss was a musician and performed as part of the Redcorn Band,
01:38a reference to the character he voiced in King of the Hill.
01:41Before his death in June 2025,
01:44Joss returned for the King of the Hill revival series
01:46and had begun recording.
01:49On June 1st, just hours before his death,
01:52he uploaded an Instagram video of himself walking around Austin
01:55and noting how he already recorded lines for four King of the Hill episodes.
01:59Joss married Tristan DeGonzalez on Valentine's Day in 2025.
02:08On January 23rd, 2025,
02:11Joss lost his San Antonio home,
02:14as well as three dogs,
02:15with a fourth missing,
02:17when his house caught fire.
02:19It had earlier been vandalized.
02:20I've been dealing with the city of San Antonio for the last six months.
02:23I've had four neighbors basically say that my house is not worth living in.
02:27The house is in my name.
02:29Since then, they have changed.
02:31No electricity, no gas.
02:33They took everything out.
02:34It's been so cold lately that my partner and I
02:36have been doing a fire inside to stay warm
02:39because for whatever reason,
02:41the city of San Antonio wants to tear my house down.
02:44Four neighbors,
02:44I don't know if you guys know this or not,
02:46but your neighbors can say that your house is not worth living in.
02:49While I was out of town, it was vandalized.
02:51They took wires out.
02:52They knocked my pole down.
02:54So the city, no electricity, no gas.
02:57So in order to stay warm, we did the best we can.
02:59I was just told that one of my dogs died.
03:02Please, people of San Antonio,
03:04you guys need to know that we in Texas and San Antonio
03:07lead the number of homes to be demolished.
03:10If you have a neighbor that says your home's not worth living in,
03:13this neighbor over here has pulled a gun on me three different times.
03:16An AK-47 he pulled on me.
03:18And the court did nothing.
03:20The police did nothing.
03:23These kind of things happen when people have to do things to stay warm.
03:26It was my mistake.
03:27We checked every fire and we thought there was no fire burning,
03:30but evidently there was one that burned.
03:32This is a house I grew up in.
03:34If neighbors want you out of your house,
03:36they'll push you out of your house.
03:37There's times around here where they say,
03:38let it burn.
03:39They say negative things about my partner and I.
03:42I'm gay, man.
03:44And for some reason,
03:45the people don't want me here.
03:47That's fine.
03:47It was my mistake.
03:49But this is my house.
03:50My house.
03:51And I'm going to stay here.
03:52I'm going to stay here.
03:53I'm going to sell it to somebody who deserves to live here.
03:56Buy the property.
03:57Please.
03:58Please.
03:59This house was built by my dad in 1957 for my mom.
04:04It's very interesting, this street.
04:05We don't have any sidewalks.
04:06We don't have any, any, uh, fire hydrants.
04:09The only good fire hydrant is at the end.
04:11So for Dorsey to be treated like this, it's not fair.
04:14It really isn't.
04:15Did you accidentally, uh...
04:16Evidently I did.
04:18It's, it's, it's, it's my fault.
04:20You know, or if somebody came in and did something, who knows?
04:22My fence is knocked down over here, right where my partner's standing.
04:25We came home, that's been knocked down.
04:27People get in my house all the time.
04:28I turned everything off.
04:30But you know what?
04:32Who, who am I to say anything else?
04:33This neighbor again pulled an AK-47 on me.
04:37And the police said there was no witness.
04:38You can look at it.
04:39It's documented.
04:40My witness was standing right there.
04:42He was standing.
04:43We were in my truck together and he pulled the gun and pulled the trigger.
04:46And no one does anything.
04:52Oh, look at me.
04:53Your shoes like a bolt.
04:55Joss attended the 2025 ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, with other King of the Hill cast members on May 29th, 2025.
05:05However, he said he was not invited to the panel and showed up in the audience instead.
05:11An attendee stated on Reddit that Joss interrupted the King of the Hill panel, bringing up his house burning down, which he felt was arson directed at his homosexuality.
05:21I'm learning through mistakes, of course.
05:24How important communication is in a relationship.
05:27You know, just doing those special things for that person that you care about.
05:32You know, my wonderful, wonderful husband, I said, well, we'll be in California and, you know, keep it kind of spicy.
05:40Just kind of role playing.
05:41I said, cabana boy.
05:43You know, cabana boy, California.
05:45Yeah, and he, of course, says, I've got the perfect outfit.
05:48I was like, all right.
05:49So, cabana boy.
05:53What?
05:54I thought you said banana.
05:56No, cabana, not banana.
06:00Tomato, tomato.
06:02Cabana?
06:03Banana.
06:04Banana?
06:05It's a banana.
06:05Banana.
06:07But it was just really great.
06:09Something that was a lot.
06:12You should assume these are Vicky Lawrence.
06:15Man, I'm telling you, I mean, he was not that happy when we got married.
06:18Oh, my God.
06:20He wasn't.
06:21I was happier when we got married.
06:24You got to take a look at this.
06:26Ready?
06:26Show your shoes, Daddy.
06:30These are some foreign shoes made over there in the European country.
06:36They have steel toes.
06:37They have iron shenks.
06:39The only reason he wore them here is we knew he was going to get really excited, and he starts flapping.
06:44He would have taken flight.
06:47We were shooting from over here.
06:49But, you know, that's why he wore the really heavy shoes, so he would not take flight.
06:55But anyway.
06:56A day before his death, he appeared on a King of the Hill podcast and answered questions.
07:04When asked whether he had given up drugs and alcohol, he said,
07:07I've already lost everything.
07:09My house burnt down.
07:10I ain't going to give up drugs.
07:12I ain't going to give up drinking.
07:13They're my friends.
07:15On June 1st, 2025, Joss and his husband were driven by a woman to their burned-down home to check the mail.
07:22A confrontation occurred between Joss and a neighbor who had been feuding.
07:28A witness reported hearing three gunshots and seeing Joss with wounds to his neck and torso.
07:34Audio and video coming from a security camera at a home along Dorsey Street where that shooting happened.
07:38Take a listen.
07:39He was pronounced dead at the scene.
07:52A suspect was arrested shortly afterward.
07:56The suspect told police I shot him after being taken into custody.
08:01Neighbors told a local TV station that Joss and the suspect had often argued in the past,
08:07but that no violence had previously occurred.
08:10Despite years of complaints to the city and 3-11,
08:13neighbors stated that police had done little.
08:16Surprising, I know.
08:18In total, police had been called 74 times since January 2024.
08:24The reason for the calls include complaints by neighbors about fires, thefts,
08:29nine calls in regards to shootings, six calls for mental health, and five for welfare checks.
08:34A previous incident on June 8th, 2024, resulted in the suspect calling police,
08:41saying Joss was brandishing a crossbow.
08:44On May 24th, 2024, reports of gunfire resulted in police confiscating Joss' firearms.
08:52Neighbors said that Joss' behavior was erratic and threatening.
08:55He sometimes appeared outside in the street while yelling,
08:59and in one incident, he was recorded on video holding a pitchfork while yelling and walking down the street.
09:05One neighbor said we would see him down the street yelling, ranting, and raving.
09:09It's free country, though.
09:10Okay, so we better walk you down the street, man.
09:12I can't get you back to the other.
09:14Walk you, man.
09:17You don't see?
09:19You don't expect you to be...
09:19You know what I mean?
09:21I want you to be...
09:22I've been walking down the street.
09:26What's up up here?
09:28I know.
09:29Woo!
09:31You guys are taping me for what?
09:33I'm walking down the street.
09:33I'm rehearsing.
09:36I'm in movies, man.
09:37I'm rehearsing the scene.
09:39Let's all die.
09:44You still look like that?
09:45I'm walking down the street and taping me.
09:47You pull a gun on somebody?
09:48That's reason for deportation, man.
09:50The cops dropped the case because they had no witnesses.
09:54Right?
09:55But I had a witness.
09:57But I'm not going to force you.
09:59So we're going to reopen the case.
10:02And look.
10:04I don't have to do it just like the cops would do with me.
10:07The cops would do with you.
10:09Now, this is the case.
10:10I was a felon.
10:12You're going to be a felon.
10:16Think about it.
10:18You read that paper when you sign it.
10:19You're crazy or deportation.
10:22I can yell.
10:23I can scream.
10:24I can pray.
10:25Whatever I want.
10:27And they don't mean I'm crazy.
10:28They don't mean I'm f***ing.
10:32Like me, I got the hand of God.
10:35F***.
10:38Right there, man.
10:39You're taking pictures of me.
10:40With my dog.
10:42After you're dead.
10:43You're f***ing.
10:46How?
10:47Don't even know how to take that gun off the safety.
10:51Oh, no.
10:51Get up with me.
10:52I'm f***ing.
10:53Go.
10:59You're not a saint of a crime?
11:01A arson?
11:03They look at the people who's reporting.
11:05Who's been poignant.
11:08That's rule number one when the investigators see you.
11:11Oh.
11:11Because you had a pleasure with you with me.
11:14With my dead dog.
11:16You're enjoying this.
11:18Come on.
11:19That was a war.
11:20I'm sorry to you.
11:22Enjoy.
11:22I'm sorry.
11:26Oh.
11:27Oh.
11:27Did you send me a copy of that?
11:30The last time you sent it to the police?
11:32Did what?
11:33Sir?
11:34Woo!
11:35Get in the car!
11:36Get in the car!
11:37Get in the car!
11:37Get in the car!
11:37Get in the car!
11:38Get in the car!
11:38Joss' husband, Tristan Kern-DeGonzalez, posted on Facebook that the day they returned to their
11:45burned house, they found the skull and harness of one of their dogs, leading to severe emotional
11:51distress.
11:52He said the suspect yelled violent homophobic slurs before opening fire, and Joss pushed
11:58Kern-DeGonzalez out of the bullet's path, saving his life.
12:03Gonzalez said neither he nor Joss were armed.
12:08Additionally, Kern-DeGonzalez alleged that various people in the area had for years verbally
12:15assaulted them with homophobic slurs and threats to burn down their home.
12:20Gonzalez described the attack as a homophobic hate crime, stating that the suspect started
12:25yelling violent homophobic slurs at us.
12:28He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.
12:30The San Antonio Police Department released a statement saying that no evidence of a hate
12:37crime had yet been found, but the investigation was still ongoing.
12:41It's a really common practice for police to investigate themselves and then find out that
12:48they did nothing wrong.
12:49That's a pretty common police tactic.
12:51According to Kern-DeGonzalez, the couple had reported homophobic harassment to law enforcement
12:57multiple times and nothing was done.
12:59It's almost like the police are like bigoted bullies who peaked in high school, who just
13:04want to feel tough and protect rich people's property.
13:07Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, the 56-year-old man charged with first-degree murder after police
13:14allege he admitted that he shot and killed Joss on June 1st, is no longer in police custody.
13:20Alvarez was released after posting a $200,000 special condition bond, one day after his arrest.
13:30The court has ordered Alvarez to full house arrest and placed conditions for him to not purchase,
13:37possess, own or use any firearms.
13:39A judge also issued Alvarez a no-contact order, although it is unclear to whom that applies.
13:47A pre-indictment hearing has been set for August.
13:50Here is a picture of Jonathan's alleged quote-unquote husband, and you can see it here.
13:59The quote-unquote husband is on the left.
14:03Now, admittedly, like Ketanji Brown Jackson, I'm no biologist.
14:06But that looks a lot like a woman who is claiming to be a man.
14:14And indeed, this particular woman has a trans flag on her Facebook profile.
14:19In other words, there's no husband involved here.
14:23And as much as we all recognize that definitions and facts aren't really important to the LGBT movement,
14:29it seems like a big issue for their narrative that this was a homophobic attack.
14:32And given that little detail, you might be wondering,
14:36well, who exactly is this trans-identifying woman with every incentive to play the victim?
14:41He wasn't even in a gay relationship.
14:46You may feel like you keep juggling expensive supplements that are just getting more unaffordable to keep up with.
14:51If that's the case, then Everyday Dose will be a lifesaver for you.
14:55Everyday Dose transforms your morning coffee into a powerhouse of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids,
15:01all in one affordable cup.
15:06Now, why isn't this case charged as a hate crime?
15:10Well, that is something McManus says is up to the district attorney.
15:13In Texas, McManus says a hate crime is added to a sentence.
15:17It is not something a person is charged with.
15:20I believe it was the day after Jonathan Joss' murder that was way, way, way premature.
15:35Shouldn't have done it.
15:37It was way too soon before we had any real information.
15:40And I will own that and simply say again that we simply shouldn't have done that.
15:47It was way too early in the process for any statement of that nature to be issued.
15:52We understand that many in the LBGTQ plus community are feeling anxious and concerned.
16:01A lot of it has to do with that premature statement that we released.
16:06And again, I own that.
16:07Shouldn't have done it.
16:08This refusal to acknowledge the reality faced by LBGTQ plus people is exactly why pride remains so vital.
16:18Pride is not just a celebration.
16:20It is a protest against violence, erasure, and indifference.
16:24Until every act of hate is recognized and confronted, the fight for dignity and safety must continue now more than ever.
