00:00The AcuPebble is a wearable sleep device. We are actually the first trust in Northern Ireland to
00:07roll out this technology. I'm very excited to be part of that. The most common sleep-related
00:13breathing disorder is obstructive sleep apnea and the AcuPebble can tell if that is happening by
00:18listening to the noise coming from the airway. Obstructive sleep apnea is where the upper airway
00:22occludes either partially or completely multiple times during the night during sleeping hours,
00:27causing oxygen levels to fall and the heart rate to spike at the same time. With AcuPebble,
00:31there's no need for consultation. It is that straightforward. It is just a matter of our
00:36patients coming in and picking the device up and returning it the next day. The patients get a
00:42more in-depth sleep study at their first hospital appointment. This saves the patients two journeys
00:47to the hospital as well as getting a more specific diagnosis right from their first investigation.
00:53Traditionally, they would have come up for a more simple study and we found that about 50% of those
00:59patients needed to come back for further investigations by means of the traditional limited polysomnography.
01:05By bringing our patients in for the AcuPebble right from the get-go, you're getting all that information
01:11right from the start. Definitely, it benefits our patients and we've seen a huge decrease in our
01:16waiting lists because everything's a wee bit quicker. Traditionally, we would have been handing out 25
01:21sleep studies, diagnostic sleep studies every week. With the implementation of the AcuPebbles,
01:27we've been able to increase that now to 55 diagnostic studies per week. We should see our waiting lists
01:32for both overnight oximetry and limited polysomnography both fall because this test is a two-in-one for those.
