00:00Hi everyone, so just a quick update from me. So a number of weeks ago I held a small round table for hospitality businesses in Lisburn for hospitality businesses across Saigon Valley.
00:11We know that hospitality, whether it's restaurants, fine dining, greasy spoon, cafe, are really struggling at the minute with all the costs that are being heaped on top of them.
00:21So one of the actions that I promised at that meeting was that I would do a petition through Parliament to ask the government to cut that ahead of this upcoming budget in November.
00:30So I'm delighted to say that Parliament has now approved my petition and it is now live.
00:35This petition is about hospitality businesses, not just in Ligon Valley in Northern Ireland, but it applies right across the UK.
00:41We know no more anywhere else in Lisburn that our town centre needs all the help it can get and hospitality plays a huge part of that.
00:50We want to support the hospitality businesses that are already there and we want to encourage more in the business.
00:56So please, can I ask that you like and share this petition, whether it's in Lisburn, whether it's in London, whether it's in Northern Ireland or England, Scotland or Wales.
01:04We need to send a strong message to the government that our local pubs, restaurants, cafes are a part of our society.
01:13They're a part of our fabric of our community.
01:15It's where people come to have a difficult conversation.
01:17It's where people come to get away from what's going on in their life.
01:20It's a place that is of our community and our life and our society.
01:25I don't want a society where we don't have pubs, cafes and restaurants anymore, but this government is absolutely hammering hospitality.
01:32And this petition is an opportunity to send a message to the government right across the UK, get off their backs, give them a VAT cut.
01:40So please like and share this petition and let's send a message to the government to back hospitality and cut the VAT.
