00:00About two years ago I joined the Alistair hospital by volunteering in the Ward 3B so
00:11I volunteered as a lunch volunteer so my job was to actually see patients and ask what they want
00:16for lunch so after that I wanted a bit of diversity to the world so that's why I came here as a meeter
00:22and greeter and I'm thankful to my past self because it's been a wonderful experience and
00:28I've seen so many patients receive so many so much gratitude from the patients and it is something
00:35I enjoy to this very day so I got into Queens for medicine by using my volunteering experience so
00:42I'm just thankful that I'm doing this I'm pursuing medicine I wanted to understand that medicine is
00:47about people and it's patient-centered so by volunteering I understood you know the person
00:53not only has a disease but many circumstances affecting their health so that's the first key
01:00factor I understood and secondly the scientific knowledge that you study is not enough for
01:07medicine you also need that empathy that compassion and that is exactly what I developed by being in
01:13this role and I'm very very grateful for that try something new like volunteering it gives you immense
01:20satisfaction but also that interaction the patients so I believe that's the best privilege you can
01:26have and I really believe that more and more people should volunteer and give back to society
