00:01We're now four years on and I couldn't imagine not having her in our family.
00:08It's just the most perfect way for us to have built our family.
00:16We always thought about having a kid at some point whenever we moved from England to here
00:21and Laura's dad was adopted so we were like well instead of having one why don't we adopt one?
00:26You know and give a child a bit of a better life. Let's go for a child that's at risk of staying in the system
00:33so go for a child that's a bit older.
00:35So it took about two years for us to get through the approval process.
00:38So the process was pretty straightforward in terms of we were told what to expect and what was going to happen.
00:44Once we'd got to the point of completing all the initial background checks and all of the paperwork side of things
00:49we had regular contact with people from the Trust.
00:53There were multiple people involved to support us through there was the interview stages
00:59and then when our daughter was placed with us there were three different social workers
01:07that worked with us to ensure that the placement settled in.
01:11It was such a big change for Gareth and I to have a small person join our family and she was very much her own person.
01:23Coming into our family she had a wonderful personality. She was loud and bubbly and the house was filled with toys from the second she arrived.
01:34So it was a real energy that was brought to our family. Absolutely wonderful.
