00:00All right, I am here with Mac McAnally.
00:03How are you doing tonight?
00:04Well, I'm pretty amazing.
00:05I'm getting an award for something that I didn't even know I was that good at.
00:08So that's .
00:10Well, you're getting the poet award,
00:11which honors songwriters for longstanding musical contribution.
00:15This isn't just an award for one song, one moment.
00:17This is saying, hey, a career, a lifelong award.
00:21So, how does that feel?
00:25It's an amazing thing.
00:26You never know what's coming, but all my life,
00:29I just chase whatever floats through my head,
00:32and for it to amount to an award at this point in life is a big surprise,
00:36and what an honor.
00:37I'm just tickled to death.
00:39I love it when life gives you little surprises, right?
00:41It is a great thing, and I've had a bunch of them,
00:43but never would have expected this.
00:47This one's probably as much of a surprise as anything ever.
00:49Well, who is your favorite songwriter of all time?
00:53Well, it would probably be somewhere between Hank Williams and Paul McCartney,
00:57but right in the middle of those two guys.
01:00Yeah.
01:01But, yeah.
01:01So, other than the songs that you've written with Jimmy Buffett,
01:04which is your favorite hit?
01:06Oh, my goodness.
01:08Well, Kenny Chesney and I ended up doing a duet of my song,
01:12Down the Road, which I wrote for my children.
01:14So, that's probably it, you know, and he doesn't have children yet,
01:17but he lives vicariously through me as a dad.
01:20So, we sing that one together, and that's a fun one.
01:22That's really special.
01:23Yeah.
01:23So, earlier this month, the Coral Reefers started a tour with the Doobie Brothers.
01:27So, what do you think when Jimmy told you that he wanted his music to live on,
01:32and have you felt his presence through this music?
01:35Oh, and the fans feel it, too.
01:38It's like a family reunion.
01:39His people have been coming to see him for 45 years.
01:42The last thing he said to me was, keep the party going, and he pounded his chest,
01:45and that's what we're doing, and it's a joy and a privilege.
01:49Well, you know, I think you bring so many people joy as you do this,
01:54as you keep his legacy going, and your own legacy continues to grow.
01:57So, congratulations.
01:58I hope you have just the most amazing night.
02:00I'm going to have a great night, and it's a pleasure to talk to you, Lindsay.
