00:00I'm here with Jessie Jo Dillon.
00:02First off, you look amazing.
00:05Thank you so much.
00:06What inspired this fit?
00:07It's so unique and so cool.
00:09I was inspired by The Great Gatsby.
00:11It's one of my favorite novels.
00:12And so my stylist, Krista, put this together.
00:15It's all Dolce & Gabbana.
00:17And so we really did a full send tonight, I feel like.
00:21You did. You showed up.
00:22And it looks incredible on you.
00:24Thank you so much.
00:25So this is your second time winning songwriter of the year.
00:27Yes.
00:28Congratulations.
00:29Thank you so much.
00:30It's so crazy.
00:31Yeah, that must feel kind of surreal.
00:33It's very surreal.
00:34I still a little, I mean, I definitely work hard.
00:36But I feel like I'm almost talking about someone else.
00:38Because it's just two years in a row is pretty crazy.
00:40I never, ever expected that.
00:42Yeah.
00:43Oh my gosh.
00:44Well, do you have a favorite song you've written in the last year?
00:46Honestly, I think it's getting performed tonight is Lies, Lies, Lies by Morgan Wallen.
00:51And I have some of my favorite girls singing Carter Faith and Karen Fairchild from Little Big Town.
00:56So I'm really excited to hear it from like a girl.
00:59You know what I mean?
01:00Yes.
01:01I just thought it'd be cool.
01:02A fun twist on it.
01:03You know what I mean?
01:04Yeah.
01:05Absolutely.
01:06I mean, a new perspective changes everything.
01:07Right?
01:08So that'll be really fun to hear your song.
01:09Through a different lens.
01:10Yes.
01:11I thought so too.
01:12Okay.
01:13So Billboard ran a story and did some research and they've realized that country music is
01:17now like more dark and it's gotten a little more emotionally deep in the last, you know,
01:21two decades.
01:22So do you feel like as a songwriter you can dive into deeper, darker topics than you used
01:26to be able to?
01:27I do feel like, especially in the past year, that's been more, even Lies, the song we were
01:34just talking about, I felt like for Morgan it was a little different, it was darker tones,
01:39minor E and a heavier like longing type song.
01:43And so I definitely feel like those topics are being more like a light shown on them which
01:49is cool.
01:50Yeah.
01:51Do you know what that's attributed to or do you think people are just more open?
01:56I think maybe people are just more open.
01:58I feel like music always changes every decade.
02:00Yeah.
02:01I mean, Jolly Roll always tells me that every decade it's going to be something new.
02:04Yeah.
02:05And so I think he's probably right about that.
02:07Yeah.
02:08Well, speaking of Jolly Roll, you've written with some of the biggest artists in, you know,
02:11in the industry, not just country, but do you have a wish list of like someone who's
02:15at the top that you would love to write with?
02:17Man, you know, my dream co-write actually would be Don Henley from the Eagles.
02:22I know he doesn't really co-write, but he's one of my favorite writers and I really love
02:27what Sabrina Carpenter is doing and my friend Amy Allen and Steph Jones do a lot with her.
02:31So I think she's really badass too.
02:33That's a good list.
02:34Well, congratulations on your second win.
02:37Have a blast tonight and just don't forget that you look incredible.
