00:00Oh, you look gorgeous. You know, your eye makeup always perfectly matches your outfit.
00:04The crazy thing is, is I did it myself. Yes, of course. Thank you so much.
00:09So how have you been? You had a busy week already.
00:12I'm so good. I'm so crazy. Like, y'all have no idea. It's been wild.
00:18And I have my son here, not here, but he's here with me. You know this is my hometown.
00:23Yeah.
00:23So my parents live in a town called Mansfield.
00:26So I've been spending a lot of time with them and then coming back to these events.
00:30So everybody comes to you, basically, at this award show.
00:33Yeah, basically. Yeah, for sure.
00:35How is the hosting Charlie? Oh, go ahead.
00:36I was just going to ask, is he aware of, like, moms at an award show?
00:40He does not care. Like, there's been so many instances where I've even taken him to these events.
00:46All I do, like, I mean, he's four, so I have to have some kind of entertainment for him.
00:50So if I give him my tablet, he's gone. Like, I'm no longer there at all. Like, he does not care.
00:55They, like, lock in, too.
00:57They lock in.
00:59And he's, like, when they're, like, kids really don't care. They don't give a...
01:04How humbling.
01:05It is so humbling because whatever you're doing, they're your responsibilities.
01:11So when they need your attention and they're so impressionable, you have to, like, capture those moments
01:16and make sure they feel seen right away so that they just feel that because they need that, you know?
01:21And then how was it for you to be a part of Charlie Prize? Like, celebration of inclusion?
01:26I know that's important for you. So what did that mean?
01:27Listen, the ACM's doing this and creating a space to make sure that Charlie's legacy lives on, I think, is so beautiful.
01:35Damon and Courtney really are trying.
01:38And, you know, we still have such a long way to go, but it does mean a lot that people are trying to make sure that his presence is still felt.
01:46But, you know, I think that's the beautiful thing about this being 60 years is, like, we were just saying,
01:51you really get an opportunity to reflect and look back on country music overall.
01:55But do you do that in your own life and career? Like, take a moment and be like, whoa, look at what I've done.
02:00Well, I'm a millennial, so I, like, I'm always...
02:04Okay, no, so, no, but I, like, we're at that point where nostalgia, like, we are the aesthetic that a lot of people are doing.
02:12Like, looking at the makeup some of the gyms that you're wearing, and I'm like, I'm pretty sure I wore that in junior high.
02:18And, okay, oh, the butterfly clips!
02:21Oh, my God, and the sports and all this kind of stuff.
02:24It's so wild.
02:26Yeah, but I love watching, like, I'll go on Instagram or TikTok and do, like, the back in the day with that weird music.
02:33And I'm like, oh, my God, I miss that.
02:35I miss the sitcoms and all that.
02:37So, yeah.
02:38And talk to me a little bit about House on Fire and new music and what you got going on.
02:41So, House on Fire released that album last year in September.
02:44It was a love letter to my husband and our relationship and our family.
02:50And I'm working on a Christmas record now.
02:54And this is the wildest one, y'all.
02:55I'm going to China in two days.
02:57For what?
02:58What's happening now?
02:59In two days.
02:59I'm going to China.
03:00There's this show.
03:01It's called The Singer.
03:03It's massive in China where they get all these, like, professional singers from all over the world.
03:08But I don't know why they asked my ass to do this.
03:10But I have a long list of reasons why.
03:12No, no, no.
03:13But it's like, like, Jessie J has done this and won.
03:16Like, it's, I'm a great singer.
03:19But there's people way better than me, okay?
03:21It's just, it's fine.
03:22It's fine.
03:23But I'm a part of it.
03:24Ringo Starr has co-signed on you, girl.
03:25That was wild.
03:26But, like, two billion people in China watch this show.
03:31And I'm going there.
03:32I'm taking my family because I don't know what's happening.
03:35And I'm going out there.
03:37Like, God brought this opportunity.
03:39I'm like, all right, Lord, I'm going to go.
03:40I can't wait to see what you come back with in terms of inspiration for new music from this trip.
03:45It's probably going to be a lot of things.
03:47Like, I can't even imagine.
03:48But I will be shopping, though.
03:50Please.
03:50Shop for me.
03:51You need a bag.
03:52You know I'm going to send you my sizes, girl.
03:53You need a bag.
