00:00Hello and welcome to this Queensland James weather update for Monday.
00:04We have the remains of an upper level cold pool.
00:07A cold outbreak moved across the east over the weekend,
00:10produced our very frosty start.
00:12We're about to go from the frost and sunshine
00:14into day after day of wet weather instead as the pattern flips on its head.
00:18So let's unpack what we've got here.
00:20Here is the upper level cold pool moving through.
00:22We're already starting to see some wet weather along the coast in through here.
00:26High pressure is going to slowly move across the southeast
00:28over to the Tasman Sea, introducing moisture from the east,
00:32running into that cold pool and literally reducing day after day of showers,
00:36tending to widespread rain and local heavy thunderstorms.
00:40Over in the west of the country, a cold front is going to move through,
00:43but that isn't going to affect us up in through here.
00:45So let's have a look day by day.
00:47On Monday, not much is happening through here.
00:49We've still got the remains of that over in the southwest.
00:51That's the last of that particular part of the weather system.
00:54All of the action moves eastwards in the days to come.
00:56So here we have Tuesday building along the coast.
00:59We've got this moving inland.
01:00No more frost.
01:01We've got cloud associated with this instead.
01:03Looking at increasing on Wednesday, anything that is yellow there is 15 to 25 millimetres.
01:09Having a look at Thursday, particularly right near the border and in the southeast corner.
01:13So the potential for some big falls as that comes through.
01:16And yes, it does continue into Friday, but maybe not so much in the inland anymore.
01:20So this is day after day of wet weather that only very slowly eases as we go through the weekend.
01:26And then we're quite quiet as we start early next week.
01:29What is that going to add up to?
01:31Let me just move these in through here.
01:32Anything yellow, 25 to 50 millimetres.
01:35This is across a couple of days as it moves through.
01:37In the southeast corner, 75 to 100 millimetres, maybe even 200 to 300.
01:43There is the potential for that to land somewhere in through there.
01:47So it'll get heavier as you head into that southeast corner.
01:50And this is across all the way through to next Monday.
01:52But most of that falling Tuesday through to Friday.
01:55Wednesday and Thursdays are the biggest days so far.
01:58Let's have a look at what that means for Brisbane.
01:59So lots of sunshine today.
02:01We had our chilly start up to about 21.
02:03Tomorrow, just a slight risk of showers during the afternoon, not adding up to much.
02:08It really kicks off on Wednesday.
02:10We're looking at rain at times increasing 15 millimetres here as the average across the weather models.
02:1516 on Thursday, rain at times, showers likely.
02:18So lots of activity moving through.
02:21And you guessed it, rain at times again on Friday.
02:23So these are the big days as that comes through.
02:25And then it clears up during the early hours of Saturday with not much more to follow after that.
