My name is Theo Houstonbets and for those of you who usually look at these explainer videos you might be surprised not to see me sat in front of a window and that's because I'm at Freight Island talking to you about Manchester Pride which is coming up on the 22nd to the 25th of August. It's a very exciting time and the reason that I'm throwing this video together quick sharp is because the team here at Pride just made a brilliant announcement. We've heard suggestions that there was going to be a secret headliner revealed for the Sunday performances and we can now release the news that it is in fact Nelly Furtado.
00:30So she adds to a long long long list of brilliant performers who are going to be taken to the stage here at Freight Island and over in the Gay Village as well. We're going to be talking a bit more later on this week in a video about Freight Island and about the Mardi Gras performances that they're going to be putting on here.
00:45But the big news from today absolutely is Nelly Furtado. As I say the Canadian singer-songwriter has sold over 45 million records including 35 million in album sales worldwide.
00:55She's a Grammy winner for best vocal performance and she absolutely guarantees a brilliant show if you can come down and make it.
01:02On the Sunday she joins a lineup as I say of people like Leigh-Anne, Billy Porter, Ollie Alexander as well as performances from Talisa, Big Freedia, Bailey J Mills, Louisa Johnson as well.
01:12You've got Danny Beard fresh off a great run on Celebrity Big Brother. They'll be hosting a brilliant, brilliant show here.
01:19Other brilliant drag acts, stuff like The Queen's Drag Me to the Disco Performance which is going to be an enticing spectacle made up of top tier singing, some awesome disco vibes and some unforgettable performers.
01:28There's also going to be a comedy showcase which is going to be led by some brilliant members of the queer community and drag legends.
01:34It's set to be a brilliant lineup, a brilliant weekend and Nelly will absolutely be adding to that in a big way.
