00:00The End
00:30Come on.
01:00Come on.
01:15Is that you, Smart?
01:22Hathaway?
01:22Right. Come on.
01:24Where are we going?
01:25I've got to close the front gate.
01:26I only left it open for you.
01:30Okay, now we can talk.
01:40Right.
01:41Wait a minute.
01:42Think we'd better talk over there.
01:43Come on.
01:51After three months of working on this case, I think I've got my first break.
01:54Degras is definitely with chaos.
01:56Why, that's terrific, Hathaway.
01:58Keep it down. Keep it down.
02:00Degras is in his office. He's working late tonight.
02:02Don't worry. I'll keep it down.
02:04Who is there?
02:20It's me, Mr. Degras. Hathaway.
02:22What are you doing there after closing?
02:24I was cleaning up a bit, sir, and I knocked over a few pots.
02:27I'm sorry.
02:30You should be more careful, Hathaway.
02:32I will.
02:38Got to work fast, Max.
02:39Get these to the chief right away.
02:41What are they?
02:41It's a list of Degras' customers.
02:43When the chief sees these names, he'll break the case wide open.
02:46Is there anything else I should know?
02:47Not right now.
02:48Degras has been suspicious of me for the last couple of days.
02:50I can't take a chance talking to anyone.
02:53Get down.
02:57Oh, Hathaway, as long as you're still here,
02:59get me a sample of the compost from around the Maricoba cornivore.
03:03The what?
03:04The big plant next to you.
03:05The one that came in this morning from the Brazilian jungle.
03:08Oh, the one over here.
03:10That one.
03:12Mm-hmm.
03:13Get me the sample immediately.
03:16Yes, sir.
03:20All right, now, hurry up.
03:23Get that list to the chief.
03:25All right, now, there's one thing I have to know before I go back.
03:27What's the fastest way to get back to control headquarters?
03:30Should I take Walnut Street or should I take Elm Parkway?
03:33You can't take Walnut Street.
03:35It's a one-way street.
03:36Well, I took it coming over.
03:39Take Elm Parkway.
03:40Hurry up.
03:41Come on.
03:41Hathaway, did you see Elm Parkway?
04:02Hathaway?
04:03Hathaway, where are you?
04:05Uh...
04:09Ha-ha-ha-ha...
04:11Ha-ha-ha...
04:14Ha-ha-ha...
04:23Ha!
04:30Ha-ha-ha!
04:30独自立
04:31
04:32Ha-ha-ha-ha!
04:33Uh...
04:33¶¶
05:03¶¶
05:27It's incredible. This list contains the names of some of the most important influential government officials in Washington.
05:32Well, that's why Hathaway wanted me to get the list to you as fast as possible, Chief.
05:37If only Hathaway hadn't disappeared.
05:39Well, let's look on the frank side of things, Chief.
05:41It's a good thing that he gave me the list before he disappeared rather than after he disappeared.
05:46What kind of reasoning is that? How could he possibly have given you the list after his disappearance?
05:51He could have only given it to you before his disappearance.
05:53Oh, yeah? How about during his disappearance?
05:56Hi, Max. Hello, Chief.
06:00Ninety-nine, what are you doing here?
06:02Well, you couldn't come home to dinner, so I brought dinner to you.
06:05I spent two days making the lasagna sauce, Max. You didn't think I was gonna let it go to waste, did you?
06:09Sit down. I'll fix your salad.
06:11Oh, that's very nice of you, Ninety-nine. Isn't that nice of Ninety-nine, Chief?
06:14Yes, that's very nice of Ninety-nine.
06:16Oh, thank you, Chief.
06:17Mmm, mmm, mmm. Smell that lasagna.
06:21Would you like some, Chief? There's plenty here.
06:24No thanks, Ninety-nine.
06:27Hi, everybody. Hope I'm not late.
06:29Larrabee, what are you doing here? I let you leave early because you said you had a dinner engagement.
06:33That's right. But the smarts.
06:36Oh, you shouldn't have, Larrabee. Max, look what Larrabee brought us.
06:40Oh, that's very nice of you, Larrabee. Isn't that nice of Larrabee, Chief?
06:43Yes, it's very nice of Larrabee.
06:44Thank you, Chief. Boy, I can't wait. I could smell this lasagna clear out in the elevator.
06:49Well, I spilled a little of the sauce on the way up.
06:52Every person on this list either purchased a plant or had landscaping done by Algie's nursery.
06:56That's very interesting, Chief. Would you pass me a breadstick, please?
06:59What do you think of it, Max?
07:00What, the breadstick? I haven't tasted it yet.
07:02Not the breadstick, the list.
07:04You don't expect him to taste the list.
07:06Of course I don't expect him to taste the list, Larrabee.
07:09How about you, Ninety-nine?
07:10Chief, how do those plants tie in with the security leaks that have been going on?
07:14I don't think I can answer that question, Ninety-nine.
07:16Oh. Well, could you open this bottle of wine?
07:18I'll open it for you, Ninety-nine.
07:20Oh.
07:21I'll be back in a minute.
07:25Would you like some wine, Chief?
07:26I guess maybe I'd better.
07:27It's Liebfrau Milch.
07:28Liebfrau Milch?
07:29That's a German white wine.
07:30I know that.

13:41I'm just pruning this tree.
13:46Aren't you overdoing it a little?
13:49Why do you say that?
13:50I suppose a customer comes in and asks for a plant.
13:54I can't sell him that.
13:56No, but you could if he asked for a spear.
14:00You are not going to prune any more plants.
14:03You're not going to touch any of them.
14:06You're just going to water them from a distance.
14:11There's a customer. Would you please wait on her?
14:20Yes, ma'am.
14:29What can I do for you?
14:30It's me, Max.
14:32Oh, 99. What are you doing here?
14:34Max, you're in big trouble.
14:36You're telling me that's the 12th one I've broken today.
14:38That's not what I mean, Max.
14:40The chief sent me here to warn you that DeGrasse has sent to Chaos Headquarters for the control photo file.
14:45The minute they see your picture, you're through.
14:47Oh, that's a shame. I was just beginning to enjoy the job.
14:50I'm not going through with the job, Max.
14:52I mean, he'll kill you. You've got to get out of here right away.
14:54Oh, I can't leave now, 99.
14:55Max, your life is at stake.
14:57You can't worry about getting evidence now.
14:59Who said anything about evidence?
15:00I have all these plants to water.
15:02You've got to get out of here before the courier gets here with the photo file.
15:0799, look.
15:07That must be the Chaos Courier.
15:18Max, we've got to stop him before he gets that photo file to DeGrasse.
15:21Right, 99. I'll distract him, and you jump him.
15:23Max!
15:24Eh, you distract him, and I'll jump him.
15:26Right, Max.
15:27Hi, Tiger.
15:37Hi.
15:43Just a minute, fella. Can I help you?
15:45Yes, I'm looking for DeGrasse's office.
15:47Oh, well, you're going in the wrong direction.
15:48It's over there.
15:50What'd you do that for?
15:51Forget it, fella. I'll find it myself.
16:0599, this is the greatest control catalog I've ever seen in my life.
16:09Why, Max?
16:09Well, look at this.
16:10They've got all the control agents looking like flowers.
16:13Max, those are flowers.
16:16This isn't a control photo file.
16:17This is a seed catalog.
16:19Well, what would a Chaos Courier be doing with a seed catalog?
16:23Because he's not a Chaos Courier.
16:24He's a seed salesman.
16:26Oh.
16:27Well, 99, if this man identifies us, we could be in a lot of trouble.
16:31I wouldn't worry about it, Max.
16:33I don't think he can see too well.
16:34This is from Chaos Headquarters.
17:02It was delivered with the fertilizer shipment.
17:12Where'd that plant come from, Chief?
17:13From Congressman Whitney's office.
17:16He bought it at Algy's Nursery,
17:18and DeGrasse was a little too eager to replace it when it died.
17:20Well, what are you looking for?
17:22My hunch is right.
17:23There'll be a bugging device hidden here somewhere.
17:27I don't know.
17:28I guess I'm wrong.
17:29All right, Larby, get rid of it.
17:31Larby, look!
17:31Don't worry, Chief.
17:33I'll clean it up.
17:33Well, I'm not talking about that.
17:34You found the microphone.
17:35I did?
17:36Well, sure.
17:37Look at the roots.
17:37There's a microphone connected to it.
17:38Well, no wonder it died.
17:39That's a radio microphone.
17:41What's that got to do with it?
17:43Well, everybody knows radio is dead, Chief.
17:45All right, Larby, you know what to do.
17:47Yes, but I don't think that's going to do any good, Chief.
17:49You don't?
17:50No.
17:51You sure about that?
17:53I'm positive about it.
17:54We are talking about the same thing, aren't we, Laraby?
17:57I certainly hope so.
17:58So do I, Laraby.
18:00So do I.
18:01What do you think we're talking about?
18:02What do you think we're talking about?
18:03I asked you first.
18:05I said you know what to do, and you said you didn't think it would work.
18:08That's right.
18:08What didn't you think would work?
18:10Watering this plant.
18:11I knew it.
18:11I knew it.
18:12You got the wrong thing.
18:13I wasn't talking about the plant.
18:14I wanted you to get Max on the phone immediately.
18:16Oh, well, that might do some good.
18:17Laraby, how old do you think I am?
18:21About 63, 64.
18:23I thought so.
18:24Why, how old are you?
18:25I'm 42.
18:27You don't look it.
18:28You look 63.
18:29Get out, Laraby.
18:44Max, look at the wonderful plants I got for our apartment.
18:4799, this is no time to be shopping.
18:49But, Max, I'm keeping my eye open for the chaos courier.
18:52I can't just stand around.
18:53I've got to look like a customer.
18:55How much money did you spend?
18:56Well, in this cart, I'd say about...
18:58What do you mean, in that cart?
18:59Oh, there are four other carts I already filled outside.
19:0299, you take all that stuff right back where you...
19:05Your hoses ring.
19:06I know it, 99.
19:08Oh, no.
19:10Turn the spigot off.
19:19This is Algie's nursery.
19:21Smart speaking.
19:22Max, this is the chief.
19:23We've just discovered how Algin on the grass has been planting glistening devices in the offices of top governor officials.
19:29That's great, chief.
19:30I want you to place him under arrest and bring him in immediately.
19:32I can place him under arrest, chief, but I can't bring him in immediately.
19:35Why not?
19:36I don't get off until five.
19:38That job is just a cover.
19:39You don't need it anymore.
19:41I don't, huh?
19:42You should see what 99 just spent.
19:44Max, if you don't do as I say, you're fired.
19:46That's an idle threat, chief.
19:47You'd never fire me.
19:49Oh, no?
19:49What makes you so sure I wouldn't?
19:51Because according to seniority, if I get fired from control, Larrabee moves up.
19:56How soon after five can you get Degrass over here?
19:59As soon as I can, chief.
20:00Goodbye.
20:02What are we going to do now, Max?
20:03Well, the first thing we're going to do is take all that stuff back.
20:07Then I'm going into Degrass's office and say...
20:09Put your hands up.
20:11And then I'm going to put the cuffs on him.
20:17Did you want to see me about something, Mr. Degrass?
20:20It's a very interesting picture of you in a control file, Mr. Smart.
20:25But why were you sitting on a pony?
20:28It was taken on his birthday.
20:31I'm going to kill you.
20:32Just a moment.
20:33You think you're very clever, don't you, Degrass?
20:35What do you mean?
20:36I've been breaking my back here since 9 o'clock this morning,
20:39and you think you're going to get off without paying me.
20:41Well, you're wrong.
20:41You're going to pay me.
20:43And then you can kill me.
20:44and you're going to be around.
20:46Don't you think you're going to get off?
20:47No, no, no, no.
20:48No, no, no, no.
20:49Oh!
20:50Oh!
20:50Oh!
20:53Oh!
20:55Oh!
21:07Oh!
21:08Back to the greenhouse.
21:38Come, come, Mr. and Mrs. Smart. You'll never get out of here alive.
21:59Besides, I know exactly where you're hiding. You're in the midst of the poison ivy.
22:06Poison ivy?
22:08Max, what's that?
22:10He's hitting the fertilizer bags above us.
22:13What are you doing?
22:14I'm gonna turn this fan on.
22:16Well, what good's that gonna do, Max?
22:17Well, when the fertilizer hits the fan, it'll blow all over the place and give us a chance to get away.
22:22Good thinking, Max.
22:36Come on, 99. Now's our chance to get away.
22:40Max, look!
22:43Max, look!
22:59Max, 99, are you all right?
23:01Yes, we're fine, Chief, but that's more than I can say for Algernon de Grasse.
23:04So that's what happened to Hathaway.
23:06Let Arby confiscate that plant.
23:08I can't do that, Chief. I'm not a priest.
23:10Confiscation doesn't have anything to do with religion.
23:12Take that tree and get it down to headquarters.
23:14Right, Chief. Where would you like me to put it?
23:16Right next to your desk.
23:46Yeah, Chiefs.
24:16You
