00:00Hello and a very good afternoon to you. It's a return to summer sunshine for much of the UK,
00:05but not everyone is seeing sunshine through today. So across the northern half of the UK,
00:10we've got a series of frontal systems that are pushing into the far northwest of Scotland,
00:14seeing some fairly persistent rain at times through this morning. Elsewhere, there's a few
00:18showers across the south, bright sunshine, but then the southern half of the UK as well,
00:22particularly the southwest, is seeing quite thick cloud through this morning.
00:26But as we head through the rest of the afternoon, so a lot of that cloud is going to start to move
00:30away, and for the bulk of the country, it's going to be a fine and sunny afternoon. Some of those
00:34showers will thin across Northern Ireland, and there still will be a few remaining across parts
00:38of Scotland through this afternoon, and it will be relatively breezy as well. So particularly
00:43down this western coast, there could be strong coastal winds, 30, 40 miles an hour in some of
00:48those exposed spots, and the wind, and the temperatures around 17 to 19 degrees. Best of
00:53the warmth, though, will be across the south-eastern half of the country. Could get up to 26,
00:58maybe even an isolated 27 as we head through the afternoon, and with the winds much lighter
01:02in the south-eastern half of the UK, then it will be feeling really quite pleasant in that sunshine.
01:08Heading through the rest of the evening, we're expecting to see some of that cloud
01:12continue to move away and fragment, so a fairly fine and clear evening for much of the UK,
01:17still holding on to a relative breeze coming in from the west. And then we have this squally
01:21cold front arriving into Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland into the early hours of Saturday.
01:26Now on this, there's going to be strong coastal gales, and that rain could be quite heavy at times
01:32as well into the early hours. Temperatures, it's going to be quite cool, 12 to 13 degrees across
01:38the north with those strong winds. Further south, a touch milder, you could see a few places a little
01:42bit lower in the countryside in those clear spells as well. So Saturday morning, a day of two halves,
01:49plenty of clear sunshine around, but this frontal system slowly, steadily making its way southeast,
01:54replaced with blustery showers across the northern half of Scotland. It will start to fragment as it
01:59moves south, and turning just to sort of some cloud and some concentration of showers by Saturday
02:04afternoon. But further south, it's going to be another day of plenty of fine weather and sunshine
02:10around for many. It is still going to be relatively breezy, so on the western coast you might still
02:15see a little bit of a breeze there. But in the shelter and in some warmth on Saturday in that
02:20southeast, we're going to be seeing some warmer temperatures again, perhaps could even see up to
02:2326 degrees again on Saturday. Notably cooler feel though across the north, northwest Scotland at best
02:29still holding on to those teens, and it's still going to have a quite brisk breeze coming in from the
02:34west as well, with a scattering of showers in the mix as well. Heading through the rest of Saturday
02:40evening then, so the showery theme remains for the northern half of Scotland, but elsewhere lots of dry spells
02:45developing and that wind slowly starting to ease a touch, and we'll see some clearer spells overnight
02:51heading in towards Saturday morning. Winds, we are expecting to see warmer temperatures on Sunday
02:58and into next week, so if you're interested in the heat, please do have a look at our more detailed
03:02forecast on our YouTube channel.
