00:00Hello. For some, it's a two-day weekend. For others, it's a three-day weekend.
00:05But for pretty much all of us, it's going to be a fine weekend of weather.
00:08Dry and bright with some sunshine and temperatures ticking up.
00:12Still quite cool out there if you're stuck under the cloud.
00:14There are some stubborn areas of cloud.
00:16That cloud's thick enough for the odd little bit of light rain and drizzle over northwest England and the Midlands.
00:21But the vast majority dry.
00:23Some good spells of sunshine across southern England, the west coast of Wales,
00:26brightening up across much of Scotland as well.
00:28Although getting quite cloudy across the far northwest of Scotland.
00:31The wind's lighter than they have been along the east coast, but it is still quite cool here.
00:36And as I said, if you're stuck under that cloud, parts of northern England may struggle to get above 18 or 19 Celsius.
00:42Same goes for parts of southern Scotland.
00:44But a bit of sunshine further south.
00:46Temperatures getting up to 22, 23 degrees, maybe even 24 in one or two spots.
00:51Quite quickly, temperatures will dip away this evening if you've got the clear skies.
00:54As we will keep, again, some areas of cloud just drifting their way south.
00:58Still thick enough for a little bit of light rain and drizzle here and there, especially over hills.
01:02But the vast majority staying dry.
01:04Well, we've got the clear skies across northern Scotland.
01:06Temperatures in rural spots easily dipping down to single figures.
01:10Most towns and cities about 11 to 13.
01:12So cooler than it has been.
01:14But generally, temperatures holding up in double digits for most to start the weekend.
01:18Again, a lot of cloud around, first thing, over northern England, the Midlands, southern Scotland.
01:24Maybe a little bit of light rain and drizzle, but most places will have a drier day on Saturday.
01:29Good spells of sunshine across the south.
01:30Some cloud will bubble up here, but equally, where we've got the cloud to start with,
01:34it may well break up a little bit to reveal some sunny spells.
01:37One place we're likely to see the cloud thickening is Northern Ireland,
01:40with one or two showers likely here through the afternoon, particularly so in the west.
01:44And the odd shower also possible across Wales.
01:47But there'll be lights, there'll be few and far between, and most places won't see one.
01:52Most places will stay dry with a bit of sunshine.
01:55Again, temperatures in the south getting into the low 20s, but again, noticeably cooler.
01:59Temperatures still struggling a little bit across northeast England and eastern parts of Scotland.
02:04Temperatures will rise as we go through the weekend, but during Saturday evening,
02:08increasing chance of a few more showers coming into Northern Ireland,
02:10perhaps into the west coast of Scotland also.
02:13But generally elsewhere, it stays dry and it stays fine.
02:16Temperatures dipping away where we've got those clear skies.
02:19And I'm hopeful for a few more clear skies through the weekend.
02:21The high pressure, which is bringing the dry, settled weather, just edges slowly out into the North Sea.
02:27And as it does so, we will see those temperatures just building a little bit through Sunday,
02:31and more notably on Monday, which is, as I said at the start,
02:34a bank holiday across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
02:38Out in the Atlantic, we are still keeping our eyes on this, looking like quite a powerful area of low pressure,
02:45changing through the course of the weekend from Hurricane Erin to an area of low pressure.
02:50That will mix things up a little bit as we go into next week.
02:54But before that, plenty of fine weather to be had through the course of this long weekend.
