Transcript
00:00The International Conference on Human Fraternity, ICHF 2025, has officially commenced in Indonesia.
00:16Held under the theme Advancing Human Fraternity Amidst Global Uncertainties,
00:21the conference brings together international scholars and policy makers.
00:25Estrawani correspondent Farhan Hakimi has the report from Jakarta.
00:30Thank you. I am currently here in Jakarta to attend the International Conference on Human Fraternity, ICHF 2025,
00:39which began on Tuesday until Wednesday.
00:42And several sessions are held in the conference with a focus of upholding human fraternity values
00:49as a core principle in addressing global challenges.
00:54And one of the opening remarks was delivered by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia,
01:04Pratikno, who emphasized that human fraternity is not just an idea, but it is an achievable goal.
01:12And he also highlighted how Pancasila, the philosophical foundation of this country, Indonesia,
01:20and Bineka Tunggal Ika, or what it means, or Unity in Diversity, the official national motto of Indonesia,
01:29are upheld here by the people of Indonesia to further promote human fraternity.
01:34Let's listen to what he had to say.
01:37Today, 280 million Indonesians practice the fraternity daily.
01:46In our villages, neighbors of different faith share meals during religious celebration.
01:56In our cities, mosques, churches, temples stand within walking distance of each other.
02:08In our school, three children learn that diversity is strength, not a division,
02:15and we try our best to improve, to increase this kind of culture and understanding.
02:23Our experience has taught us fundamental truths.
02:30Human fraternity cannot be imposed only from a bus.
02:34It must be grew from the grassroot.
02:37It cannot be achieved through laws alone.
02:43It requires hearts and minds, as has been underlined by Your Excellencies.
02:48It cannot be survived only by good intention.
02:54It demands concrete actions.
02:57And I also had the opportunity to interview Professor Dr. Farish Noor,
03:04who is Professor of Politics and Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences
03:09at the International Islamic University of Indonesia,
03:12where he regards the event as an important initiative in the midst of geopolitical tensions
03:19that are currently happening all around the world.
03:24And this is what he said.
03:25I think there is an awareness worldwide that we live at the time where
03:30this sense of common human solidarity has been progressively weakened
03:37as a result of, again, geopolitical calculations and geopolitical manipulation.
03:44And, of course, this conference also aims to ground the human fraternity,
03:51a framework that is often seen as under-discussed in academic and policy circles.
03:58And if I could reiterate, the idea of human fraternity calls for a renewed commitment
04:04to solidarity and peaceful coexistence among people of all backgrounds.
04:10And that is very important to attain peace in the world.
04:15I guess that's all from me.
04:17Back to you in the studio.
