00:00The International Conference on Human Fraternity, ICHF 2025, has officially commenced in Indonesia.
00:08Held under the theme Advancing Human Fraternity Amidst Global Uncertainties,
00:12the conference brings together international scholars and policy makers.
00:16Estrawani correspondent Farhan Hakimi has the report from Jakarta.
00:21Thank you. I am currently here in Jakarta to attend the International Conference on Human Fraternity, ICHF 2025.
00:30which began on Tuesday until Wednesday.
00:33And several sessions are held in the conference with the focus of upholding human fraternity values as a core principle in addressing global challenges.
00:46And one of the opening remarks was delivered by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia, Pratikno,
00:56who emphasized that human fraternity is not just an idea, but it is an achievable goal.
01:04And he also highlighted how Pancasila, the philosophical foundation of this country, Indonesia,
01:11and Bineka Tunggal Ika, or what it means, or Unity in Diversity, the official national motto of Indonesia,
01:20are upheld here by the people of Indonesia to further promote human fraternity.
01:26Let's listen to what he had to say.
01:28Today, 280 million Indonesians practice the fraternity daily.
01:38In our villages, neighbors of different faiths share meals during religious celebration.
01:47In our cities, mosques, churches, temples stand within walking distance of each other.
02:00In our school, three children learn that diversity is strength, not a division.
02:06And we try our best to improve, to increase this kind of culture and understanding.
02:16But our experience has taught us fundamental truths.
02:21Human fraternity cannot be imposed only from a bus.
02:26It must be grew from the grassroots.
02:29It cannot be achieved through laws alone.
02:33It requires hearts and minds, as has been underlined by Your Excellencies.
02:40It cannot be survived only by good intention.
02:45It demands concrete actions.
02:50And I also had the opportunity to interview Professor Dr. Farish Noh,
02:55who is Professor of Politics and Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences
03:00at the International Islamic University of Indonesia,
03:03where he regards the event as an important initiative in the midst of geopolitical tensions
03:11that are currently happening all around the world.
03:15And this is what he said.
03:17I think there is an awareness worldwide that we live at the time where
03:21this sense of common human solidarity has been progressively weakened
03:28as a result of, again, geopolitical calculations and geopolitical manipulation.
03:36And of course, this conference also aims to ground the human fraternity framework
03:43that is often seen as under-discussed in academic and policy circles.
03:49And if I could reiterate, the idea of human fraternity calls for a renewed commitment
03:56to solidarity and peaceful coexistence among people of all backgrounds.
04:01And that is very important to attain peace in the world.
