00:00Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:05Trafalgar Square is one of London's most iconic public spaces, located in the heart
00:10of the city.
00:11It was built in the 1830s to commemorate the British victory at the Battle of Trafalgar
00:17in 1805, where Admiral Lord Nelson defeated the French and Spanish navies.
00:24At its centre stands Nelson's Column, a towering 52-metre monument, guarded by four giant
00:31bronze lions.
00:33The square is surrounded by key landmarks, including the National Gallery, which houses
00:38world-famous artworks.
00:40It was also a hub for public gatherings, protests, celebrations and cultural meetings.
00:46The square features historic fountains, statues and at the famous plinth, a platform of rotating
00:53contemporary art.
