00:00Today we're looking at Greater London. Greater London is the large metropolitan area that
00:05surrounds and includes the City of London in England. It's made up of 32 boroughs plus
00:11the City of London which is the historic and financial heart of the capital. Greater London
00:17was officially created in 1965 to better manage the city's growing population and services.
00:25It covers famous areas like Westminster, Camden, Greenwich and Croydon and is home to around 9
00:32million people making it one of the most diverse cities in the world.
00:37Greater London has its own regional government led by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly
00:42which oversee transport, policing, housing and planning. In short,
00:47Greater London is the modern administrative area that helps the capital function as a global city.
